A note on k-plane integral transforms

Let Π be a k-dimensional subspace of Rⁿ, n ? 2, and write x = (x′, x″) with x′ in Π and x″ in the orthogonal complement Π^⊥. The k-plane transform of a measurable function ? in the direction Π at the point x″ is defined by $\text{L?(Π, x″) = ∝Π?(x′, x″) dx′}$. In this article certain a priori inequalities are established which show in particular that if $\text{? ? L}{}^{\mathrm{p}}\text{(R}{}^{\mathrm{n}}\text{)}$, $\text{1 ? p}\text{\$}\text{?}\text{n}\text{k}$, then ? is integrable over almost every translate of almost every k-space. Mapping properties of the k-plane transform between the spaces L^p(Rⁿ), p ? 2, and certain Lebesgue spaces with mixed norm on a vector bundle over the Grassmann manifold of k-spaces in Rⁿ are also obtained.     

A note on singular integral equations

The class of functions for which certain singular integral equations hold good is discussed and the method of obtaining appropriate solutions of such equations is explained through equations of simple form. A discussion of this type is felt to be essential for beginners.     

A note on multidimensional integral inequalities

The aim of the present note is to establish some new integral inequalities involving functions of n independent variables and their first and second-order partial derivatives. The method used in the proofs is quite elementary and based on some simple observations and applications of the fundamental inequalities.     

A note on singular integral operators

In this paper, we study the L^p boundedness for the singular integral operators of R. Fefferman when the kernel satisfies certain size condition. We also consider the corresponding maximal singular integral operators.     

A note on Marcinkiewicz integral operators

This paper is primarily concerned with proving the L^p boundedness of Marcinkiewicz integral operators with kernels belonging to certain block spaces. We also show the optimality of our condition on the kernel for the L² boundedness of the Marcinkiewicz integral.     

A note on a Carlson-type inequality for the Sugeno integral

In this short note, we present a general version of Carlson’s inequality for the Sugeno integral, which generalizes some recent results obtained by others.     

A note on quasi-equilibrium problems

The purpose of this paper is to prove the existence of solutions of quasi-equilibrium problems without any generalized monotonicity assumption. Additionally, we give some applications.     

A note on stability for parametric equilibrium problems

In this paper we consider equilibrium problems in vector metric spaces where the function f and the set K are perturbed by the parameters ε,η. We study the stability of the solutions, providing some results in the peculiar framework of generalized monotone functions, first in the particular case where K is fixed, then under both data perturbation.     

A note on skewcirculant preconditioners for elliptic problems

In a recent paper Chan and Chan study the use of circulant preconditioners for the solution of elliptic problems. They prove that circulant preconditioners can be chosen so that the condition number of the preconditioned system can be reduced fromO(n ² ) toO(n). In addition, using the Fast Fourier Transform, the computation of the preconditioner is highly parallelizable. To obtain their result, Chan and Chan introduce a shift /p/n ² for some >0. The aim of this paper is to consider skewcirculant preconditioners, and to show that in this case the condition number ofO(n) can easily be shown without using the somewhat unsatisfactory shift /p/n ². Furthermore, our estimates are more precise.     

A note on the multilinear singular integral operators

Lp(Rn) boundedness is considered for the multilinear singular integral operator defined by TAf(x) = ∫Rn Ω(x - y)/|x - y|n 1 (A(x) - A(y) - (△)A(y)(x - y))f(y)dy,where Ω is homogeneous of degree zero, integrable on the unit sphere and has vanishing moment of order one. A has derivatives of order one in BMO(Rn). We give a smoothness condition which is fairly weaker than that Ω∈ Lipα(Sn-1) (0 ＜α≤ 1) and implies the Lp(Rn) (1 ＜ p ＜ oo) boundedness for the operator TA. Some endpoint estimates are also established.     

A note on certain integral inequalities with delay

In this paper we establish some new integral inequalities with delay, which can be used as tools in the theory of some new classes of differential and integral equations. An application to obtain a bound on the solution of a certain integral equation is also given.     

A note on linear transformations over integral domains

It is an easy fact from linear algebra that if M is a finite-dimensional vector space over a field R, ϕM→M a diagonalizable linear transformation, and N a ϕ-invariant subspace of M, then ϕ∣N is diagonalizable. We show that an appropriate generalization of this holds for M a torsion-free module over an integral domain R.     

A note on integral representations of linear operators

In this paper we describe families of those bounded linear operators that are simultaneously unitarily equivalent to integral operators with smooth Carleman kernels. The singleton case of the main result implies that every integral operator is unitarily equivalent to an integral operator having smooth Carleman kernel.

A note on bi-criteria transportation problems

The present note reveals a drawback in an algorithm ofAneja/Nair [1979] for the determination of efficient solutions in a bi-criteria transportation problem with an additional time objective function and develops a modified procedure that overcomes this weakness.

Zusammenfassung In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird ein Fehlschluß im Algorithmus vonAneja/Nair [1979] zum Auffinden aller effizienten Lösungen eines Transportproblems mit zwei Summen- und einer Engpaßzielfunktion aufgezeigt. Ferner wird ein Verfahren angegeben, in dem diese Unstimmigkeiten nicht mehr auftreten.

     

A note on noncommutative moment problems

Noncommutative moment problems for C*-algebras are studied. We generalize a result of Hadwin on tracial states to nontracial case. Our results are applied to obtain simple solutions to moment problems on the square and the circle as well as extend the positive unital functionals from a (discrete) complex group algebra to states on the group C*-algebra.
