We show that the Strong Novikov Conjecture for the maximal C*-algebra C*(π) of a discrete group π is equivalent to a statement in topological K-theory for which the corresponding statement in algebraic K-theory is always true. We also show that for any group π, rational injectivity of the full assembly map for K*t(C*(π)) follows from rational injectivity of the restricted assembly map. (Received: February 2006)  相似文献

We consider interpretations of modal logic in Peano arithmetic (P) determined by an assignment of a sentencev * ofP to each propositional variablev. We put (⊥)*=“0 = 1”, (χ → ψ)* = “χ* → ψ*” and let (□ψ)* be a formalization of “ψ)* is a theorem ofP”. We say that a modal formula, χ, isvalid if ψ* is a theorem ofP in each such interpretation. We provide an axiomitization of the class of valid formulae and prove that this class is recursive.  相似文献

For a Lie algebra L, a bilinear map is called a commutative cocycle if ψ(a, b) = ψ(b, a) and ψ([a, b], c) + ψ([b, a], c) + ψ([c, a], b) = 0 for any a, b, cL. We prove that any commutative cocycle of a simple Lie algebra of characteristic p ≠ 2, 3 is trivial if the rank of L is at least 2. In particular, any two-sided Alia algebra connected with a simple, finite-dimensional Lie algebra L is isomorphic to L, except for the case where L = sl 2 . Construction of multivariate compactly supported orthonormal wavelets   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
We propose a constructive method to find compactly supported orthonormal wavelets for any given compactly supported scaling function φ in the multivariate setting. For simplicity, we start with a standard dilation matrix 2I2×2 in the bivariate setting and show how to construct compactly supported functions ψ1,. . .,ψn with n>3 such that {2kψj(2kx−ℓ,2kym), k,ℓ,mZ, j=1,. . .,n} is an orthonormal basis for L2(ℝ2). Here, n is dependent on the size of the support of φ. With parallel processes in modern computer, it is possible to use these orthonormal wavelets for applications. Furthermore, the constructive method can be extended to construct compactly supported multi-wavelets for any given compactly supported orthonormal multi-scaling vector. Finally, we mention that the constructions can be generalized to the multivariate setting. Dedicated to Professor Charles A. We introduce “π-versions” of five familiar conditions for distributivity by applying the various conditions to 3-element antichains only. We prove that they are inequivalent concepts, and characterize them via exclusion systems. A lattice L satisfies D 0π if aù(búc)  \leqslant  (aùbc{{{a}\wedge({b}\vee{c})\;\leqslant\;({a}\wedge{b})\vee{c}}} for all 3-element antichains {a, b, c}. We consider a congruence relation ~ whose blocks are the maximal autonomous chains and define the order-skeleton of a lattice L to be [(L)\tilde] : = L/ ~ {{\tilde{L} : = L/{\sim}}}. We prove that the following are equivalent for a lattice L: (i) L satisfies D 0π , (ii) [(L)\tilde]{{\tilde{L}}} satisfies any of the five π-versions of distributivity, (iii) the order-skeleton [(L)\tilde]{{\tilde{L}}} is distributive.  相似文献

Let M be a quantizable symplectic manifold. If ψt is a loop in the group {Ham}(M) of Hamiltonian symplectomorphisms of M and A is a 2k-cycle in M, we define a symplectic action κA(ψ)∊ U(1) around ψt(A), which is invariant under deformations of ψ, and such that κA(ψ) depends only on the homology class of A. Using properties of κA( ) we determine a lower bound for ♯π1(Ham(O)), where O is a quantizable coadjoint orbit of a compact Lie group. In particular we prove that ♯π1(Ham(CPn)) ≥ n+1. We consider the Cauchy problem of Navier-Stokes equations in weak Morrey spaces. We first define a class of weak Morrey type spaces Mp*,λ(Rn) on the basis of Lorentz space Lp,∞ = Lp*(Rn)(in particular, Mp*,0(Rn) = Lp,∞, if p > 1), and study some fundamental properties of them; Second,bounded linear operators on weak Morrey spaces, and establish the bilinear estimate in weak Morrey spaces. Finally, by means of Kato's method and the contraction mapping principle, we prove that the Cauchy problem of Navier-Stokes equations in weak Morrey spaces Mp*,λ(Rn) (1<p≤n) is time-global well-posed, provided that the initial data are sufficiently small. Moreover, we also obtain the existence and uniqueness of the self-similar solution for Navier-Stokes equations in these spaces, because the weak Morrey space Mp*,n-p(Rn) can admit the singular initial data with a self-similar structure. We prove extensions of Menchoff's inequality and the Menchoff-Rademacher theorem for sequences {f n } ∪L p , based on the size of the norms of sums of sub-blocks of the firstn functions. A tight frame wavelet ψ is an L 2(ℝ) function such that {ψ jk(x)} = {2j/2 ψ(2 j x −k), j, k ∈ ℤ},is a tight frame for L 2 (ℝ).We introduce a class of “generalized low pass filters” that allows us to define (and construct) the subclass of MRA tight frame wavelets. This leads us to an associated class of “generalized scaling functions” that are not necessarily obtained from a multiresolution analysis. We study several properties of these classes of “generalized” wavelets, scaling functions and filters (such as their multipliers and their connectivity). We also compare our approach with those recently obtained by other authors.  相似文献

We first show asymptotic L 2 bounds for a class of equations, which includes the Burger-Sivashinsly model for odd solutions with periodic boundary conditions. We consider the conditional stability of stationary solutions of Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation in the periodic setting. We establish rigorously the general structure of the spectrum of the linearized operator, in particular the linear instability of steady states. In addition, we show conditional asymptotic stability with asymptotic phase, under a natural spectral hypothesis for the corresponding linearized operator. For the zero solution, we have more precise results. Namely, in the non-resonant regime L ≠ n π, we prove conditional asymptotic stability, provided one considers only mean value zero data. If, however, L = n 0 π (but still ò\nolimits-LL u0(x) dx=0{\int\nolimits_{-L}^L u_0(x) dx=0}), then we have conditional orbital stability. More specifically, the solutions relax to a small (but generally non-zero) function as long as the initial data are small and lie on a center-stable manifold of codimension 2(n 0 − 1).  相似文献

Let E be a Galois extension of ℚ of degree l, not necessarily solvable. In this paper we first prove that the L-function L(s, π) attached to an automorphic cuspidal representation π of cannot be factored nontrivially into a product of L-functions over E. Next, we compare the n-level correlation of normalized nontrivial zeros of L(s, π1)…L(s, π k ), where π j , j = 1,…, k, are automorphic cuspidal representations of , with that of L(s,π). We prove a necessary condition for L(s, π) having a factorization into a product of L-functions attached to automorphic cuspidal representations of specific , j = 1,…,k. In particular, if π is not invariant under the action of any nontrivial σ ∈ Gal E/ℚ, then L(s, π) must equal a single L-function attached to a cuspidal representation of and π has an automorphic induction, provided L(s, π) can factored into a product of L-functions over ℚ. As E is not assumed to be solvable over ℚ, our results are beyond the scope of the current theory of base change and automorphic induction. Our results are unconditional when m,m 1,…,m k are small, but are under Hypothesis H and a bound toward the Ramanujan conjecture in other cases. Let π and π′ be automorphic irreducible cuspidal representations of GLm(QA) and GLm(QA), respectively. Assume that π and π′ are unitary and at least one of them is self-contragredient. In this article we will give an unconditional proof of an orthogonality for π and π′, weighted by the von Mangoldt function Λ(n) and 1−n/x. We then remove the weighting factor 1−n/x and prove the Selberg orthogonality conjecture for automorphic L-functions L(s,π) and L(s,π′), unconditionally for m≤4 and m′≤4, and under the Hypothesis H of Rudnick and Sarnak [20] in other cases. This proof of Selberg's orthogonality removes such an assumption in the computation of superposition distribution of normalized nontrivial zeros of distinct automorphic L-functions by Liu and Ye [12].  相似文献

We show that for certain self-similar measures μ with support in the interval 0≤x≤1, the analytic functions {e i2πnx :n=0,1,2, …} contain an orthonormal basis inL 2 (μ). Moreover, we identify subsetsP ⊂ ℕ0 = {0,1,2,...} such that the functions {e n :n ∈ P} form an orthonormal basis forL 2 (μ). We also give a higher-dimensional affine construction leading to self-similar measures μ with support in ℝ ν , obtained from a given expansivev-by-v matrix and a finite set of translation vectors. We show that the correspondingL 2 (μ) has an orthonormal basis of exponentialse i2πλ·x , indexed by vectors λ in ℝ ν , provided certain geometric conditions (involving the Ruelle transfer operator) hold for the affine system.
