Using the data schemes from [1] we give a rigorous definition of algebraic differential equations on the complex projective space Pn. For an algebraic subvariety S?Pn, we present an explicit formula for the degree of the divisor of solutions of a differential equation on S and give some examples of applications. In this paper we derive an integral formula on an n-dimensional, compact, minimal QR-submanifoldM of (p−1) QR-dimension immersed in a quaternionic projective space QP (n+p)/4. Using this integral formula, we give a sufficient condition concerning with the scalar curvature of M in order that such a submanifold M is to be a tube over a quaternionic projective space.  相似文献

Graham and Pollak [2] proved that n – 1 is the minimum number of edge-disjoint complete bipartite subgraphs into which the edges of Kn decompose. Tverberg [6], using a linear algebraic technique, was the first to give a simple proof of this result. We apply Tverberg's technique to obtain results for two related decomposition problems, in which we wish to partition the arcs/edges of complete digraphs/multigraphs into a minimum number of arc/edge-disjoint complete bipartite subgraphs of appropriate natures. We obtain exact results for the digraph problem, which was posed by Lundgren and Maybee [4]. We also obtain exact results for the decomposition of complete multigraphs with exactly two edges connecting every pair of distinct vertices.  相似文献

We observe that the restriction of a Verma module over a semi-simple Lie algebra to a subalgebra of Levi type may be viewed as a projective functor. By simple arguments we prove that this restriction can be decomposed into a direct sum of standard indecomposables in the category O. For the restriction problem from sl(n+1) to gl(n) we describe the complete answer. We study the properties of the modules with Verma flag also and prove that any module with Verma flag is a submodule of some projective.  相似文献

Let λ be a partition of an integer n chosen uniformly at random among all such partitions. Let s(λ) be a part size chosen uniformly at random from the set of all part sizes that occur in λ. We prove that, for every fixed m≥1, the probability that s(λ) has multiplicity m in λ approaches 1/(m(m+1)) as n→∞. Thus, for example, the limiting probability that a random part size in a random partition is unrepeated is 1/2. In addition, (a) for the average number of different part sizes, we refine an asymptotic estimate given by Wilf, (b) we derive an asymptotic estimate of the average number of parts of given multiplicity m, and (c) we show that the expected multiplicity of a randomly chosen part size of a random partition of n is asymptotic to (log n)/2. In the space of continuous periodic functions, we construct interpolation rational operators, use them to obtain quadrature formulas with positive coefficients which are exact on rational trigonometric functions of order 2n, and suggest an algorithm for an approximate solution of integral equations of the second kind. We estimate the accuracy of the approximate solution via the best trigonometric rational approximations to the kernel and the right-hand side of the integral equation.  相似文献

In our previous paper (Topology 38 (1999), 497–516), we discussed the hyperbolization of the configuration space of n ( 5) marked points with weights in the projective line up to projective transformations. A variation of the weights induces a deformation. It was shown that this correspondence of the set of the weights to the Teichmüller space when n = 5 and to the Dehn filling space when n = 6 is locally one-to-one near the equal weight. In this paper conformal minimal 2-spheres immersed in a complex projective space are studied by applying Lie theory and moving frames. We give differential equations of Kähler angle and square length of the second fundamental form. By applying these differential equations we give characteristics of conformal minimal 2-spheres of constant Kähler angle and obtain pinching theorems for curvature. We also discuss conformal minimal 2-spheres of constant normal curvature and prove that there does not exist any linearly full minimal 2-sphere immersed in a complex projective space CPn (n>2) with non-positive constant normal curvature. We also prove that a linearly full minimal 2-sphere immersed in a complex projective space CPn (n>2) with constant normal curvature and constant Kähler angle is of constant curvature.  相似文献

 For any ample line bundle L on a projective toric variety of dimension n, it is proved that the line bundle L ⊗i is normally generated if i is greater than or equal to n−1, and examples showing that this estimate is best possible are given. Moreover we prove an estimate for the degree of the generators of the ideals defining projective toric varieties. In particular, when L is normally generated, the defining ideal of the variety embedded by the global sections of L has generators of degree at most n+1. In Venkaiah [1] an algorithm for solving linear optimization problems based on the idea of the projective algorithm of Karmarkar, is proposed. The essential simplification in the new algorithm is the use of a fixed projection operator. In this way the algorithm requires onlyO(n 2 ) operations to obtain a sufficient exact solution. In this note it is shown that in some special cases the algorithm of Venkaiah yields a feasible solution that is far from the optimal one.  相似文献

In this paper we completely classify the homogeneous two-spheres, especially, the minimal homogeneous ones in the quaternionic projective space HPn. According to our classification, more minimal constant curved two-spheres in HPnare obtained than what Ohnita conjectured in the paper "Homogeneous harmonic maps into complex projective spaces. In this paper, we investigate an eigenvalue problem for the Dirichlet Laplacian on a domain in an n-dimensional compact Riemannian manifold. First we give a general inequality for eigenvalues. As one of its applications, we study eigenvalues of the Laplacian on a domain in an n-dimensional complex projective space, on a compact complex submanifold in complex projective space and on the unit sphere. By making use of the orthogonalization of Gram–Schmidt (QR-factorization theorem), we construct trial functions. By means of these trial functions, estimates for lower order eigenvalues are obtained. The nullity of a graph is defined to be the multiplicity of the eigenvalue zero in the spectrum of the adjacency matrix of the graph. In this paper, we obtain the nullity set of bipartite graphs of order n, and characterize the bipartite graphs with nullity n-4 and the regular bipartite graphs with nullity n-6.  相似文献

We study curves of positive solutions for a system of elliptic equations of Hamiltonian type on a unit ball. We give conditions for all positive solutions to lie on global solution curves, allowing us to use the analysis similar to the case of one equation, as developed in P. Korman, Y. Li and T. Ouyang [An exact multiplicity result for a class of semilinear equations, Commun. PDE 22 (1997), pp. 661–684.] (see also T. Ouyang and J. Shi [Exact multiplicity of positive solutions for a class of semilinear problems, II, J. Diff. Eqns. 158(1) (1999), pp. 94–151].). As an application, we obtain some non-degeneracy and uniqueness results. For the one-dimensional case we also prove the positivity for the linearized problem, resulting in more detailed results.  相似文献

We show that the Hilbert-Kunz multiplicity is a rational number for an R+−primary homogeneous ideal I=(f1, . . . , fn) in a two-dimensional graded domain R of finite type over an algebraically closed field of positive characteristic. More specific, we give a formula for the Hilbert-Kunz multiplicity in terms of certain rational numbers coming from the strong Harder-Narasimhan filtration of the syzygy bundle Syz(f1, . . . , fn) on the projective curve Y=ProjR.  相似文献

For a compact spin manifold M isometrically embedded into Euclidean space, we derive the extrinsic estimates from above and below for eigenvalues of the square of the Dirac operator, which depend on the second fundamental form of the embedding. We also show the bounds of the ratio of the eigenvalues. Since the unit sphere and the projective spaces admit the standard embedding into Euclidean spaces, we also obtain the corresponding results for their compact spin submanifolds.  相似文献

For a commutative Noetherian ring A of finite Krull dimension containing the field of rational numbers, an Abelian group called the Euler class group is defined. An element of this group is attached to a projective A-module of rank = dim A and it is shown that the vanishing of this element is necessary and sufficient for P to split off a free summand of rank 1. As one of the applications of this result, it is shown that for any n-dimensional real affine domain, a projective module of rank n (with trivial determinant), all of whose generic sections have n generated vanishing ideals, necessarily splits off a free direct summand of rank 1.  相似文献
