Functional inequalities for the Wright functions

In this paper, our aim is to show some mean value inequalities for the Wright function, such as Turán-type inequalities, Lazarevi?-type inequalities, Wilker-type inequalities and Redheffer-type inequalities. Moreover, we prove monotonicity of ratios for sections of series of Wright functions, the result is also closely connected with Turán-type inequalities. In the end of the paper, we present some other inequalities for the Wright function.

On a class of weighted anisotropic Sobolev inequalities

In this article, motivated by a work of Caffarelli and Cordoba in phase transitions analysis, we prove new weighted anisotropic Sobolev type inequalities where different derivatives have different weight functions. These inequalities are also intimately connected to weighted Sobolev inequalities for Grushin type operators, the weights being not necessarily Muckenhoupt. For example we consider Sobolev inequalities on finite cylinders, the weight being a power of the distance function from the top or the bottom of the cylinder. We also prove similar inequalities in the more general case in which the weight is a power of the distance function from a higher codimension part of the boundary.     

Nikol'skij-type and maximal inequalities for generalized trigonometric polynomials

We consider some Nikol'skij-type inequalities, thus inequalities between different metrics of a function, for almost periodic trigonometric polynomials. Some basic methods of probability theory are applied to prove the existence of the distribution function for an almost periodic function in the sense of Besicovitch. Finally, the Maximal function of Hardy and Littlewood is considered and maximal inequalities on Besicovitch spaces are proved. Received: 23 July 1998 / Revised version: 8 March 1999     

Generalization of the main equation of differential game theory

We consider feedback, two-person, zero-sum differential games. We obtain two inequalities for the directional derivatives of the nonsmooth value function. We show that these inequalities, together with the boundary conditions, constitute necessary and sufficient conditions which the value function must satisfy. In the region where the value function is differentiable, the inequalities become the well-known main equation of differential game theory (Isaacs-Bellman equation). The results obtained here may be useful in the approximation of the value function by piecewise smooth splines and also in the classification of singular surfaces.The author would like to thank Academician N. Estimates of Oscillations of the Hardy Transform

For the Hardy transform of a nonincreasing function we obtain a sharp two-sided estimate of the BLO-norm and sharp inequalities between the BMO- and the BLO-norms of a nonincreasing function. A well-known lower bound for the BMO-norm of the Hardy transform is improved on the basis of these inequalities.     

On Riesz Means of Eigenvalues

In this article we prove the equivalence of certain inequalities for Riesz means of eigenvalues of the Dirichlet Laplacian with a classical inequality of Kac. Connections are made via integral transforms including those of Laplace, Legendre, Weyl, and Mellin, and the Riemann–Liouville fractional transform. We also prove new universal eigenvalue inequalities and monotonicity principles for Dirichlet Laplacians as well as certain Schrödinger operators. At the heart of these inequalities are calculations of commutators of operators, sum rules, and monotonic properties of Riesz means. In the course of developing these inequalities we prove new bounds for the partition function and the spectral zeta function (cf. Corollaries 3.5–3.7) and conjecture about additional bounds.
