A chiral zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF) showing circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) has been successfully constructed by blending binapthyl‐derived chiral emitters with ZIF‐8 rhombic dodecahedron nanoparticles. This approach solves a major trade‐off in CPL‐active materials: the large luminescence dissymmetry factor (glum) always suffers from suppression of luminescence efficiency. Compared to the optical properties of chiral emitters, the obtained chiral ZIF nanomaterials showed an enhanced fluorescence efficiency while the |glum| value is significantly amplified by one order of magnitude. Additionally, enantioselective fluorescence sensing in response to α‐hydroxycarboxylic acids has been enhanced in chiral ZIFs. Reorganization and conjunction of chiral emitters to the skeleton of ZIF nanoparticles can greatly improve both the luminescence quantum yield and circularly polarization, which facilitates the design of more efficient chiroptical materials.  相似文献

Organic solid‐state semiconductor lasers are attracting ever‐increasing interest for their potential application in future photonic circuits. Despite the great progress made in recent years, an organic laser from 3D chiral structures has not been achieved. Now, the first example of an organic nano‐laser from the micro‐helix structure of an achiral molecule is presented. Highly regular micro‐helixes with left/right‐handed helicity from a distyrylbenzene derivative (HM‐DSB) were fabricated and characterized under microscope spectrometers. These chiral micro‐helixes exhibit unique photonic properties, including helicity‐dependent circularly polarized luminescence (CPL), periodic optical waveguiding, and length‐dependent amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) behavior. The successful observation of laser behavior from the organic micro‐helix extends our understanding to morphology chirality of organic photonic materials and provides a new design strategy towards chiral photonic circuits.  相似文献

Chiral light-matter interaction occurs when the system consists of the matter and the light has a chiral structure, which is generically called the chiro-optical effect. Circular dichroism and optical rotation are representative spectroscopic methods based on chiro-optical effects. Chiro-optical effects have been widely utilized to detect chiral materials in the system. The chiro-optical effect also has the potential to create chiral materials from achiral materials and chiral optical fields, and to generate chiral optical fields from chiral matter systems. To achieve that, the design and observation of chiral optical field structures are essential. In this article, we describe local chiral optical fields generated in the peripheries of nanomaterials (typically metal nanostructures) irradiated with light. We summarize basic characteristics of nanoscale local chiral optical fields, methods to observe/control the chiral optical field structures at nanomaterials. Then some chemical, optical, and mechanical effects of designed chiral optical fields are described. Chiral nanostructures were created from achiral nanomaterials combined with circularly polarized light. Nucleation of chiral crystals of achiral molecules was achieved by circularly polarized light with the aid of plasmonic materials. Circularly polarized luminescence was observed from achiral fluorescent molecules conjugated with chiral plasmonic nanostructures. On mechanical characteristics, optical forces exerted on chiral materials were found to be dependent on the handedness of incident circularly polarized light, which can be utilized to discriminate the chirality of the material. The concept can be further generalized to the spin-dependent asymmetric light-matter interactions, which will create not only the molecular- and nano-scale chiral structures but also various novel functions of materials that are correlated with the handedness degree of freedom.  相似文献

Achieving a large dissymmetry factor (glum) is a challenge in the field of circularly polarized luminescence (CPL). A chiral charge‐transfer (CT) system consisting of chiral electron donor and achiral electron acceptor shows bright circularly polarized emission with large glum value. The chiral emissive CT complexes could be fabricated through various approaches, such as grinding, crystallization, spin coating, and gelatinization, by simply blending chiral donor and achiral acceptor. The structural synergy originating from π–π stacking and strong CT interactions resulted in the long‐range ordered self‐assembly, enabling the formation of supramolecular gels. Benefiting from the large magnetic dipole transition moment in the CT state, the CPL activity of CT complexes exhibited large circular polarization. Our design strategy of the chiral emissive CT complexes is expected to help the development of new molecular engineering strategies for designing highly efficient CPL‐active materials.  相似文献

A new strategy is described for generating strong circularly polarized luminescence with highly tunable emission bands through chiral induction in nonchiral, totally organic, low‐molecular‐weight fluorescent dyes by chiral nanotemplate systems. Our approach allows the first systematic investigation to clarify the correlation between the circular dichroism and circularly polarized luminescence intensities. As a result, a dilute solution system with the highest circularly polarized luminescence intensity achieved to date and a dissymmetry factor of over 0.1 was identified.  相似文献

Self‐assembly of inorganic nanoparticles into ordered structures is of interest in both science and technology because it is expected to generate new properties through collective behavior; however, such nanoparticle assemblies with characteristics distinct from those of individual building blocks are rare. Herein we use atomically precise Au clusters to make ordered assemblies with emerging optical activity. Chiral Au clusters with strong circular dichroism (CD) but free of circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) are synthesized and organized into uniform body‐centered cubic (BCC) packing nanocubes. Once the ordered structure is formed, the CD intensity is significantly enhanced and a remarkable CPL response appears. Both experiment and theory calculation disclose that the CPL originates from restricted intramolecular rotation and the ordered stacking of the chiral stabilizers, which are fastened in the crystalline lattices.  相似文献

The design and fabrication of quantum dots (QDs) with circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) has been a great challenge in developing chiroptical materials. We herein propose an alternative to the use of chiral capping reagents on QDs for the fabrication of CPL‐active QDs that is based on the supramolecular self‐assembly of achiral QDs with chiral gelators. Full‐color‐tunable CPL‐active QDs were obtained by simple mixing or gelation of a chiral gelator and achiral 3‐mercaptopropionic acid capped QDs. In addition, the handedness of the CPL can be controlled by the supramolecular chirality of the gels. Moreover, QDs with circularly polarized white light emission were fabricated for the first time by tuning the blending ratio of colorful QDs in the gel. The chirality transfer in the co‐assembly of the achiral QDs with the gelator and the spacer effect of the capping reagents on the QD surface are also discussed. This work provides new insight into the design of functional chiroptical materials.  相似文献

Circular dichroism is known to be the feature of a chiral agent which has inspired scientist to study the interesting phenomena of circularly polarized light (CPL) modulated molecular chirality. Although several organic molecules or assemblies have been found to be CPL‐responsive, the influence of CPL on the assembly of chiral coordination compounds remains unknown. Herein, a chiral coordination polymer, which is constructed from achiral agents, was used to study the CPL‐induced enantioselective synthesis. By irradiation with either left‐handed or right‐handed CPL during the reaction and crystallization, enantiomeric excesses of the crystalline product were obtained. Left‐handed CPL resulted in crystals with a left‐handed helical structure, and right‐handed CPL led to crystals with a right‐handed helical structure. It is exciting that the absolute asymmetric synthesis of a chiral coordination polymer could be enantioselective when using CPL, and provides a strategy for the control of the chirality of chiral coordination polymers.  相似文献

The CD spectroscopy of a chiral compound in solution yields an average CD value derived from all of the conformations of a chiral molecule. By contrast, CD spectroscopy of cold chiral molecules in the gas phase distinguishes specific conformers of a chiral molecule, but the weak CD effect has limited the practical application of this technique. Reported herein is the first resonant two‐photon ionization CD spectra of ephedrines in a supersonic jet using circularly polarized laser pulses, which were generated by synchronizing the oscillation of the photoelastic modulator with the laser firing. The spectra exhibited well‐resolved CD bands which were specific for the conformations and vibrational modes of each enantiomer. The CD signs and magnitudes of the jet‐cooled chiral molecules were very sensitive to their conformations and thus offered crucial information for determining the three‐dimensional structures of chiral species, as conducted in combination with quantum chemical calculations.  相似文献

Chiral bichromophoric perylene bisimides are demonstrated as active materials of circularly polarized emission. The bichromophoric system exhibited circularly polarized luminescence with dissymmetry factors typical of that of similar organic chiral chromophoric systems in the monomeric state. Variation in solvent composition led to the formation of stably soluble helical aggregates through intermolecular interactions. A large enhancement in the dissymmetry of circularly polarized luminescence was exhibited by the aggregated structures both in the solution and solid states. The sum of excitonic couplings between the individual chromophoric units in the self‐assembled state results in relatively large dissymmetry in the circularly polarized luminescence, thereby giving rise to enhanced dissymmetry factors for the aggregated structures. The spacer between chiral center and chromophoric units played a crucial role in the effective enhancement of chiroptical properties in the self‐assembled structures. These materials might provide opportunities for the design of a new class of functional bichromophoric organic nanoarchitectures that can find potential applications in the field of chiroptical memory and light‐emitting devices based on supramolecular electronics.  相似文献

Optical waveguides synthesized at the micro/nanoscale have drawn great interest for their potential applications in high speed miniaturized photonic integrations. In this Perspective article, we mainly focus on the related works on active optical waveguides based on functional small organic molecules in micro/nano regime. We begin with a general overview of recent progress in sub-wavelength optical waveguides, including the development of waveguide materials of inorganic semiconductors, polymers, and small organic molecules. Then brief highlights are put on the recently reported organic optical waveguides with various unique optical properties induced by the ordered molecular aggregations in the micro/nano-sized solid-state structures, such as polarized emission, lasing, aggregation-induced enhanced emission, etc. This article concludes with a summary and our personal view about the direction of future development in organic opto-functional waveguides as photonic devices.  相似文献

The chiral organic–inorganic halide perovskites (OIHPs) are vital candidates for superior nonlinear optical (NLO) effects associated with circularly polarized (CP) light. NLO in chiral materials often couples with magnetic dipole (MD) transition, as well as the conventional electric dipole (ED) transition. However, the importance of MD transition in NLO process of chiral OIHPs has not yet been well recognized. Here, the circular polarized probe analysis of second harmonic generation circular dichroism (SHG-CD) provides the direct evidence that the contribution of MD leads to a large anisotropic response to CP lights in chiral OIHPs, (R-/S-MBACl)2PbI4. The thin films exhibit great sensitivity to CP lights over a wide wavelength range, and the g-value reaches up to 1.57 at the wavelength where the contribution of MD is maximized. Furthermore, it is also effective as CP light generator, outputting CP-SHG with maximum g-factor of 1.76 upon the stimulation of linearly polarized light. This study deepens the understanding of relation between chirality and magneto-optical effect, and such an efficient discrimination and generation of CP light signal is highly applicable for chirality-based sensor and optical communication devices.  相似文献

In this study, via a simple one‐step method, chiral copper sulfide quantum dots (d/l‐QDs) were prepared using d‐/l‐penicillamine (d‐/l‐Pen). The anisotropy factor of d/l‐QDs was as high as 0.01. The d/l‐QDs can be used as photocatalysts to cleave proteins. Notably, the l‐QDs displayed the highest catalytic performance under left‐circularly polarized light irradiation. Mechanistic investigations indicate the generation of hydroxyl radicals as the reactive species that cause the cutting of proteins.  相似文献

Photosensitive cinnamic acid conjugated glutamides were designed to demonstrate photocontrolled hierarchical chirality transfer and switching in self‐assembled systems. In methanol, the cinnamic acid derivatives self‐assembled into superhelices, which could be switched into nanokebabs upon UV irradiation. These two nanostructures showed opposite helicity. The chiral nanostructures could further convey their chirality to achiral fluorescent molecules and result in the emission of circularly polarized luminescence (CPL). Remarkably, the CPL followed the helicity of the chiral nanostructure rather than the inherent molecular chirality. Photodriven dimerization of the cinnamic moiety lead to a significant change in molecular packing and subsequent switching of the helicity of the formed nanostructures.  相似文献

Self‐assembling molecular systems often display amplified chirality compared to the monomeric state, which makes the molecular recognition more sensitive to chiral analytes. Herein, we report the almost absolute enantioselective recognition of a chiral perylenediimide (PDI) molecule by chiral supramolecular nanofibers of a bichromophoric naphthalenediimide (NDI) derivative. The chiral recognition was evaluated through the Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) from the NDI‐based host nanofibers to the guest PDI molecules. The excitation energy was successfully transferred to the guest molecule through efficient energy migration along the host nanofiber, thus demonstrating the light‐harvesting capability of these hybrid systems. Furthermore, circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) was enantioselectively sensitized by the guest molecule as the wavelength band and sign of the CPL signal were switched in response to the chiral guest molecule.  相似文献

Lanthanide metal–organic frameworks (Ln‐MOFs) have received much attention owing to their structural tunability and widely photofunctional applications. However, successful examples of Ln‐MOFs with well‐defined photonic performances at micro‐/nanometer size are still quite limited. Herein, self‐assemblies of 1,3,5‐benzenetricarboxylic acid (BTC) and lanthanide ions afford isostructural crystalline Ln‐MOFs. Tb‐BTC, Eu@Tb‐BTC, and Eu‐BTC have 1D microrod morphologies, high photoluminescence (PL) quantum yields, and different emission colors (green, orange, and red). Spatially PL resolved spectra confirm that Ln‐MOF microrods exhibit an optical waveguide effect with low waveguide loss coefficient (0.012≈0.033 dB μm−1) during propagation. Furthermore, these microrods feature both linear and chiral polarized photoemission with high anisotropy.  相似文献

The solid‐state chiral optical properties (circular dichroism and circularly polarized luminescence) of a 2‐naphthalenecarboxylic acid/amine supramolecular organic fluorophore can be controlled by changing the aryl unit of the chiral 1‐arylethylamine component of the molecule rather than altering the chirality of the 1‐arylethylamine itself.  相似文献
