Hexakis‐substituted [60]fullerene adducts with icosahedral symmetry provide an unprecedented scaffold for the spatial arrangement of twelve functional groups with high geometric precision. This unique molecular symmetry identifies such polyfunctional organic building blocks as potential highly connective linkers for coordination polymer and metal–organic framework synthesis. Hereby, the linker exhibits a higher connectivity than the metal ions and with the main connectivity based on the ligand, this can create a new type of inversely cross‐linked framework. Two hexakis adducts bearing either twelve glycolic acid or 3‐hydroxypropionic acid side chains attached to its malonate units were incorporated as organic connectivity centers in the first fullerene‐containing three‐dimensional frameworks by coordination with Zn2+.  相似文献

The topological diversity of DNA G‐quadruplexes may play a crucial role in its biological function. Reversible control over a specific folding topology was achieved by the synthesis of a chiral, glycol‐based pyridine ligand and its fourfold incorporation into human telomeric DNA by solid‐phase synthesis. Square‐planar coordination to a CuII ion led to the formation of a highly stabilizing intramolecular metal–base tetrad, substituting one G‐tetrad in the parent unimolecular G‐quadruplex. For the Tetrahymena telomeric repeat, CuII‐triggered switching from a hybrid‐dominated conformer mixture to an antiparallel topology was observed. CuII‐dependent control over a protein–G‐quadruplex interaction was shown for the thrombin–tba pair (tba=thrombin‐binding aptamer).  相似文献

Here we report a reusable DNA single‐walled carbon nanotube (SWNT)‐based fluorescent sensor for highly sensitive and selective detection of Ag+ and cysteine (Cys) in aqueous solution. SWNTs can effectively quench the fluorescence of dye‐labeled single‐stranded DNA due to their strong π–π stacking interactions. However, upon incubation with Ag+, Ag+ can induce stable duplex formation mediated by C–Ag+–C (C=cytosine) coordination chemistry, which has been further confirmed by DNA melting studies. This weakens the interactions between DNA and SWNTs, and thus activates the sensor fluorescence. On the other hand, because Cys is a strong Ag+ binder, it can remove Ag+ from C–Ag+–C base pairs and deactivates the sensor fluorescence by rewrapping the dye‐labeled oligonucleotides around the SWNT. In this way, the fluorescence signal‐on and signal‐off of a DNA/SWNT sensor can be used to detect aqueous Ag+ and Cys, respectively. This sensing platform exhibits high sensitivity and selectivity toward Ag+ and Cys versus other metal ions and the other 19 natural amino acids, with a limit of detection of 1 nM for Ag+ and 9.5 nM for Cys. Based on these results, we have constructed a reusable fluorescent sensor by using the covalent‐linked SWNT–DNA conjugates according to the same sensing mechanism. There is no report on the use of SWNT–DNA assays for the detection of Ag+ and Cys. This assay is simple, effective, and reusable, and can in principle be used to detect other metal ions by substituting C–C base pairs with other native or artificial bases that selectively bind to other metal ions.  相似文献

Carboxylated peptide‐functionalized gold nanoparticles (peptide‐GNPs) self‐assemble into two‐ and three‐dimensional nanostructures in the presence of various heavy metal ions (i.e. Pb2+, Cd2+, Cu2+, and Zn2+) in aqueous solution. The assembly process is monitored by following the changes in the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) band of gold nanoparticles in a UV/Vis spectrophotometer, which shows the development of a new SPR band in the higher‐wavelength region. The extent of assembly is dependent on the amount of metal ions present in the medium and also the time of assembly. TEM analysis clearly shows formation of two‐ and three‐dimensional nanostructures. The assembly process is completely reversible by addition of alkaline ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) solution. The driving force for the assembly of peptide‐GNPs is mainly metal ion/carboxylate coordination. The color and spectral changes due to this assembly can be used for detection of these heavy‐metal ions in solution.  相似文献

Easy access to discrete nanoclusters in metal‐folded single‐chain nanoparticles (metal‐SCNPs) and independent ultrafine sudomains in the assemblies via coordination‐driven self‐assembly of hydrophilic copolymer containing 9% imidazole groups is reported herein. 1H NMR, dynamic light scattering, and NMR diffusion‐ordered spectroscopy results demonstrate self‐assembly into metal‐SCNPs (>70% imidazole‐units folded) by neutralization in the presence of Cu(II) in water to pH 4.6. Further neutralization induces self‐assembly of metal‐SCNPs (pH 4.6–5.0) and shrinkage (pH 5.0–5.6), with concurrent restraining residual imidazole motifs and hydrophilic segment, which organized into constant nanoparticles over pH 5.6–7.5. Atomic force microscopy results evidence discrete 1.2 nm nanoclusters and sub‐5‐nm subdomains in metal‐SCNP and assembled nanoparticle. Reduction of metal center using sodium ascorbate induces structural rearrangement to one order lower than the precursor. Enzyme mimic catalysis required media‐tunable discrete ultrafine interiors in metal‐SCNPs and assemblies have hence been achieved.  相似文献

A formaldehyde‐assisted metal–ligand crosslinking strategy is used for the synthesis of metal–phenolic coordination spheres based on sol–gel chemistry. A range of mono‐metal (Co, Fe, Al, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ce), bi‐metal (Fe‐Co, Co‐Zn) and multi‐metal (Fe‐Co‐Ni‐Cu‐Zn) species can be incorporated into the frameworks of the colloidal spheres. The formation of coordination spheres involves the pre‐crosslinking of plant polyphenol (such as tannic acid) by formaldehyde in alkaline ethanol/water solvents, followed by the aggregation assembly of polyphenol oligomers via metal–ligand crosslinking. The coordination spheres can be used as sensors for the analysis of nucleic acid variants with single‐nucleotide discrimination, and a versatile precursor for electrode materials with high electrocatalytic performance.  相似文献

The Schiff base ligand, 1‐phenyl‐3‐methyl‐5‐hydroxypyrazole‐4‐methylene‐8′‐quinolineimine, and its CuII, ZnII, and NiII complexes were synthesized and characterized. The crystal structure of the ZnII complex was determined by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction, indicating that the metal ions and Schiff base ligand can form mononuclear six‐coordination complexes with 1:1 metal‐to‐ligand stoichiometry at the metal ions as centers. The binding mechanism and affinity of the ligand and its metal complexes to calf thymus DNA (CT DNA) were investigated by UV/Vis spectroscopy, fluorescence titration spectroscopy, EB displacement experiments, and viscosity measurements, indicating that the free ligand and its metal complexes can bind to DNA via an intercalation mode with the binding constants at the order of magnitude of 105–106 M –1, and the metal complexes can bind to DNA more strongly than the free ligand alone. In addition, antioxidant activities of the ligand and its metal complexes were investigated through scavenging effects for hydroxyl radical in vitro, indicating that the compounds show stronger antioxidant activities than some standard antioxidants, such as mannitol. The ligand and its metal complexes were subjected to cytotoxic tests, and experimental results indicated that the metal complexes show significant cytotoxic activity against lung cancer A 549 cells.  相似文献

Controlled self‐assembly (SA) of proteins offers the possibility to tune their properties or to create new materials. Herein, we present the synthesis of a modified human insulin (HI) with two distinct metal‐ion binding sites, one native, the other abiotic, enabling hierarchical SA through coordination with two different metal ions. Selective attachment of an abiotic 2,2′‐bipyridine (bipy) ligand to HI, yielding HI–bipy, enabled ZnII‐binding hexamers to SA into trimers of hexamers, [[HI–bipy]6]3, driven by octahedral coordination to a FeII ion. The structures were studied in solution by small‐angle X‐ray scattering and on surfaces with AFM. The abiotic metal ligand had a higher affinity for FeII than ZnII ions, enabling control of the hexamer formation with ZnII and the formation of trimers of hexamers with FeII ions. This precise control of protein SA to give oligomers of oligomers provides nanoscale structures with potential applications in nanomedicine.  相似文献

Due to the low coordination number and the relatively weak coordination ability, it is a great challenge to introduce Li+ into the construction of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). Here, one Li‐based metal–organic framework (Li‐MOF), [Li4L(DMF)2]n ( HNU‐31 ), is constructed by the assembly of LiNO3 and 5‐(bis(4‐carboxybenzyl)amino)isophthalic acid (H4L) ligand, which possesses a 3D framework, and can be serve as a luminescent sensor for detecting Al3+ ion with the detection limit of 4 × 10?6 M.  相似文献

A hexameric metal–organic nanocapsule is assembled from pyrogallol[4]arene units, which are stitched together with indium ions. This indium‐seamed capsule is the first instance of a M24L6 type hexameric coordination cage held together exclusively by trivalent metal ions. Explicitly, unlike previously reported pyrogallol[4]arene‐based metal‐seamed capsules, the current In3+ seamed capsule is entirely supported by O→In coordinate bonds. This work demonstrates the important proof of concept of the ability of pyrogallol[4]arene to react with metals in higher oxidation states to assemble into atomically‐precise hexameric coordination cages. As such, these results open up exciting avenues toward the assembly of previously unanticipated metal–organic capsules, for example offering inspiration for tackling metals exhibiting high valence states such as in the lanthanide and actinide series.  相似文献

Multiple noncovalent interactions can drive self‐assembly through different pathways. Here, by coordination‐assisted changes in π‐stacking modes between chromophores in pyrene‐conjugated histidine (PyHis), a self‐assembly system with reversible and inversed switching of supramolecular chirality, as well as circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) is described. It was found that l ‐PyHis self‐assembled into nanofibers showing P‐chirality and right‐handed CPL. Upon ZnII coordination, the nanofibers changed into nanospheres with M‐chirality, as well as left‐handed CPL. The process is reversible and the M‐chirality can change to P‐chirality by removing the ZnII ions. Experimental and theoretical models unequivocally revealed that the cooperation of metal coordination and π‐stacking modes are responsible the reversible switching of supramolecular chirality. This work not only provides insight into how multiple noncovalent interactions regulate self‐assembly pathways.  相似文献

Single‐atom catalysts (SACs) have great potential in electrocatalysis. Their performance can be rationally optimized by tailoring the metal atoms, adjacent coordinative dopants, and metal loading. However, doing so is still a great challenge because of the limited synthesis approach and insufficient understanding of the structure–property relationships. Herein, we report a new kind of Mo SAC with a unique O,S coordination and a high metal loading over 10 wt %. The isolation and local environment was identified by high‐angle annular dark‐field scanning transmission electron microscopy and extended X‐ray absorption fine structure. The SACs catalyze the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) via a 2 e? pathway with a high H2O2 selectivity of over 95 % in 0.10 m KOH. The critical role of the Mo single atoms and the coordination structure was revealed by both electrochemical tests and theoretical calculations.  相似文献

Cost‐effective metal‐based nanostructured hybrids have been widely dedicated to potential energy storage and conversion applications. Herein, we develop a facile methodology for the synthesis of precise carbon‐confined hybrid nanostructures by stereoselective assembly accompanied by catalytic pyrolysis. Polyacrylonitrile fiber films favors not only metal‐polymer coordination, but also oriented assembly to ensure the well‐defined nanostructure of the carbon hybrids. During chemical vapor deposition (CVD), cobalt‐nanoparticle‐catalyzed growth of carbon‐nanotube branches driven by organic molecules (e.g. melamine) delivers hierarchical carbon hybrids. The resulting carbon hybrids exhibit outstanding electrochemical performance for metal‐ion batteries, for example, a high specific capacity of 680 mAh g?1 after 320 cycles (Li‐storage) and 220 mAh g?1 after 500 cycles (Na‐storage) without decay.  相似文献

Combining experiment with theory reveals the role of self‐assembly and complexation in metal‐ion transfer through the water–oil interface. The coordinating metal salt Eu(NO3)3 was extracted from water into oil by a lipophilic neutral amphiphile. Molecular dynamics simulations were coupled to experimental spectroscopic and X‐ray scattering techniques to investigate how local coordination interactions between the metal ion and ligands in the organic phase combine with long‐range interactions to produce spontaneous changes in the solvent microstructure. Extraction of the Eu3+–3(NO3?) ion pairs involves incorporation of the “hard” metal complex into the core of “soft” aggregates. This seeds the formation of reverse micelles that draw the water and “free” amphiphile into nanoscale hydrophilic domains. The reverse micelles interact through attractive van der Waals interactions and coalesce into rod‐shaped polynuclear EuIII‐containing aggregates with metal centers bridged by nitrate. These preorganized hydrophilic domains, containing high densities of O‐donor ligands and anions, provide improved EuIII solvation environments that help drive interfacial transfer, as is reflected by the increasing EuIII partitioning ratios (oil/aqueous) despite the organic phase approaching saturation. For the first time, this multiscale approach links metal‐ion coordination with nanoscale structure to reveal the free‐energy balance that drives the phase transfer of neutral metal salts.  相似文献

The Preyssler polyoxoanion, [NaP5W30O110]14? ({P5W30}), is used as a platform for evaluating the role of nonbridging cations in the formation of transition‐metal‐bridged polyoxometalate (POM) coordination frameworks. Specifically, the assembly architecture of Co2+‐bridged frameworks is shown to be dependent on the identity and amount of alkali or alkaline‐earth cations present during crystallization. The inclusion of Li+, Na+, K+, Mg2+, or Ca2+ in the framework synthesis is used to selectively synthesize five different Co2+‐bridged {P5W30} structures. The influence of the competition between K+ and Co2+ for binding to {P5W30} in dictating framework assembly is evaluated. The role of ion pairing on framework assembly structure and available void volume is discussed. Overall, these results provide insight into factors governing the ability to achieve controlled assembly of POM‐based coordination networks.  相似文献

Two kinds of chiral 1,1′‐binaphthol (BINOL)‐based polymer enantiomers were designed and synthesized by the polymerization of 5,5′‐((2,2′‐bis (octyloxy)‐[1,1′‐binaphthalene]‐3,3′‐diyl)bis(ethyne‐2,1‐diyl))bis(2‐hydroxybenzaldehyde) ( M1 ) with alkyl diamine ( M2 ) via nucleophilic addition–elimination reaction. The resulting chiral polymers can exhibit mirror image cotton effects either in the absence or in the presence of Zn2+ ion. Almost no fluorescence or circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) emission could be observed for two chiral BINOL‐based polymer enantiomers in the absence of Zn2+. Interestingly, the chiral polymers can show strong fluorescence and CPL response signals upon the addition of Zn2+, which can be attributed to Zn2+‐coordination fluorescence enhancement effect. This work can develop a new strategy on the design of the novel CPL materials via metal‐coordination reaction. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. The aluminum‐based metal–organic framework (MOF) made from 2‐aminoterephthalate is a photocatalyst for oxygen evolution. This MOF can be modified by incorporating Ni2+ cations into the pores through coordination to the amino groups, and the resulting MOF is an efficient photocatalyst for overall water splitting.  相似文献

The synthesis of a new, cubic M8L6 cage is described. This new assembly was characterised by using NMR spectroscopy, DOSY, TGA, MS, and molecular modelling techniques. Interestingly, the enlarged cavity size of this new supramolecular assembly allows the selective encapsulation of tetra(4‐pyridyl)metalloporphyrins (MII(TPyP), M=Zn, Co). The obtained encapsulated cobalt–porphyrin embedded in the cubic zinc–porphyrin assembly is the first example of a catalytically active encapsulated transition‐metal complex in a cubic M8L6 cage. The substrate accessibility of this system was demonstrated through radical‐trapping experiments, and its catalytic activity was demonstrated in two different radical‐type transformations. The reactivity of the encapsulated CoII(TPyP) complex is significantly increased compared to free CoII(TPyP) and other cobalt–porphyrin complexes. The reactions catalysed by this system are the first examples of cobalt–porphyrin‐catalysed radical‐type transformations involving diazo compounds which occur inside a supramolecular cage.  相似文献

A new C‐nucleoside structurally based on the hydroxyquinoline ligand was synthesized that is able to form stable pairs in DNA in both the absence and the presence of metal ions. The interactions between the metal centers in adjacent CuII‐mediated base pairs in DNA were probed by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. The metal–metal distance falls into the range of previously reported values. Fluorescence studies with a donor–DNA–acceptor system indicate that photoinduced charge‐transfer processes across these metal‐ion‐mediated base pairs in DNA occur more efficiently than over natural base pairs.  相似文献
