Eight hetero- and homometal complexes 1-6, containing the metal centers Ni(II)Fe(III)Ni(II) (1), Mn(III)Ni(II) (2), Ni(II)Ni(II) (3a-c and 4), Zn(II)Ni(II) (5), and Zn(II)Zn(II) (6), are described. The tridentate ligation property of the metal complexes tris(pyridine-2-aldoximato)nickel(II) and tris(1-methylimidazole-2-aldoximato)nickel(II) with three facially disposed pendent oxime O atoms has been utilized to generate the said complexes. Complex 1 contains metal centers in a linear arrangement, as is revealed by X-ray diffraction. Complexes were characterized by various physical methods including cyclic voltammetry (CV), variable-temperature (2-290 K) magnetic susceptibility, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) measurements, and X-ray diffraction methods. Binuclear complexes 2-6 are isostructural in the sense that they all contain a metal ion in a distorted octahedral environment MN(3)O(3) and a second six-coordinated Ni(II) ion in a trigonally distorted octahedral NiN(6) geometry. Complexes 1-4 display antiferromagnetic exchange coupling of the neighboring metal centers. The order of the strength of exchange coupling in the isostructural Ni(II)2 complexes, 3a-c, and 4, demonstrates the effects of the remote substituents on the spin coupling. The electrochemical measurements CV and square wave voltammograms (SQW) reveal two reversible metal-centered oxidations, which have been assigned to the Ni center ligated to the oxime N atoms, unless a Mn ion is present. Complex 2, Mn(III)Ni(II), exhibits a reduction of Mn(III) to Mn(II) and two subsequent oxidations of Mn(III) and Ni(II) to the corresponding higher states. These assignments of the redox processes have been complemented by the X-band EPR measurements. That the electrooxidized species [3a]+, [3b]+, [3c]+, and [4]+ contain the localized mixed-valent NiIINiIII system resulting from the spin coupling, a spin quartet ground state, S(t) = 3/2, has been confirmed by the X-band EPR measurements.  相似文献

Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Pd(II) and Ru(III) complexes of Schiff bases derived from the condensation of sulfaguanidine with 2,4‐dihydroxy benzaldehyde ( HL1 ), 2‐hydroxy‐1‐naphthaldehyde ( HL2 ) and salicylaldehyde ( HL3 ) have been synthesized. The structures of the prepared metal complexes were proposed based on elemental analysis, molar conductance, thermal analysis (TGA, DSC and DTG), magnetic susceptibility measurements and spectroscopic techniques (IR, UV‐Vis, and ESR). In all complexes, the ligand bonds to the metal ion through the azomethine nitrogen and α‐hydroxy oxygen atoms. The structures of Pd(II) complex 8 and Ru(III) complex 9 were found to be polynuclear. Two kinds of stereochemical geometries; distorted tetrahedral and distorted square pyramidal, have been realized for the Cu(II) complexes based on the results of UV‐Vis, magnetic susceptibility and ESR spectra whereas octahedral geometry was predicted for Co(II), Mn(II) and Ru(III) complexes. Ni(II) complexes were predicted to be square planar and tetrahedral and Pd(II) complexes were found to be square planar. The antimicrobial activity of the ligands and their metal complexes was also investigated against the gram‐positive bacteria Staphylococcus aures and Bacillus subtilis and gram‐negative bacteria, Escherichia coli and Pesudomonas aeruginosa, by using the agar dilution method. Chloramphenicol was used as standard compound. The obtained data revealed that the metal complexes are more or less, active than the parent ligand and standard. The X‐ray crystal structure of HL3 has been also reported.  相似文献

Metal complexation by anthocyanins is a very efficient mechanism for protecting plants. While Mg is an essential metal for life, typically found bound to anthocyanins, Al interferes with the metabolism of the former. Density functional theory and the polarizable continuum model are used to study cyanin (the simplest anthocyanin bearing a catechol unit) complexes with Mg(II) and Al(III), considering different metal ligand stoichiometries. Results obtained for metal-binding energies indicate that Al(III) complexes are always more stable than those of Mg(II). Furthermore, reaction energies for the metal exchange process show that free Al(III) (hexaaquo complex) is always able to displace Mg(II). This displacement is more favored when the metal ligand ratio decreases. Thus, anthocyanins are implied in suppressing Al(III) toxicity by enabling its accumulation and reducing its migration to ecosystems. The characteristics of Al(III)?Ccyanidin and Mg(II)?Ccyanidin bonds are investigated using the quantum theory of atoms in molecules. We find these complexes are more stabilized by ion?Cdipole electrostatic interactions than by electron pair sharing, as predicted by the Hard and Soft Acids Theory. Globally, two factors increase the covalent character: replacement of Mg(II) by Al(III) and replacement of water by cyanidin ligands.  相似文献

Complexes of sulfamethoxydiazine with Cu(II), Zn(II), Ni(II), Cd(II), Cr(III) and Fe(III) have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of conductivity measurements, elemental analyses, UV, IR, 1H?NMR and thermal studies. It is shown that sulfamethoxydiazine behaves as a bidentate ligand, binding the metal ion through the sulfonyl oxygen and sulfonamide nitrogen. In vitro susceptibility tests of these complexes against Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Proteus vulgaris and Staphylococcus aureus were carried out. The results show that the antibacterial activities of the complexes of Zn(II), Cu(II), Cr(III) and Fe(III) are, in general, stronger than that of sulfamethoxydiazine, while the complexes of Cd(II) and Ni(II) are less active.  相似文献

A new hydrazone ligand, HL, was prepared by the reaction of 7-chloro-4-hydrazinoquinoline with o-hydroxybenzaldehyde. The ligand behaves as monoprotic bidentate. This was accounted for as the ligand contains a phenolic group and its hydrogen atom is reluctant to be replaced by a metal ion. The ligand reacted with Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Fe(III), and UO2(II) ions to yield mononuclear complexes. In the case of Fe(III) ion two complexes, mono- and binuclear complexes, were obtained in the absence and presence of LiOH, respectively. Also, mixed ligand complexes were obtained from the reaction of the metal cations Cu(II), Ni(II) and Fe(III) with the ligand (HL) and 8-hydroxyquinoline (8-OHqu) in the presence of LiOH, in the molar ratio 1:1:1:1. It is clear that 8-OHqu behaves as monoprotic bidentate ligand in such mixed ligand complexes. The ligand, HL, and its metal complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV-vis, mass, and 1H NMR spectra, as well as magnetic moment, conductance measurements, and thermal analyses. All complexes have octahedral configurations except Cu(II) complex which has an extra square-planar geometry, while Ni(II) mixed complex has also formed a tetrahedral configuration and UO2(II) complex which formed a favorable pentagonal biprymidial geometry. Magnetic moment of the binuclear Fe(III) complex is quite low compared to calculated value for two iron ions complex and thus shows antiferromagnetic interactions between the two adjacent ferric ions. The HL and metal complexes were tested against one stain Gram positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus), Gram negative bacteria (Escherichia coli), and fungi (Candida albicans). The tested compounds exhibited higher antibacterial acivities.  相似文献

The complexes of Fe(III), Co(III), Mn(III), Al(III), Cu(II), Ni(II), Cd(II) and Zn(II) with N,N'-bis(hydroxybenzyl)ethylenediamine-N,N'-diacetic acid (HBED) were separated by ion exchange in different modes: ion chromatography (IC) and ion electrokinetic chromatography (IEKC). In column IC these complexes were separated on an IonPac AS4a anion-exchange column (Dionex, USA). Parameters of the background electrolyte that were examined in IEKC mode include polymer, competing ion concentration and pH. The use of poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDADMACl) as a modifier in IEKC provides separation selectivity only slightly different from that observed in IC on the IonPac AS4a column. Optimal separation conditions were found to be: 0.1 mM HBED, 50 mM PDADMAOH, 10 mM Na2 B4 O7, pH adjusted to 10 with acetic acid. The use of an aromatic ligand allowed a 10-fold decrease in detection limits of metal ions in comparison with previously studied EDTA. A separation efficiency up to 400,000 theoretical plates was demonstrated for IEKC.  相似文献

Mononuclear and binuclear Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes of new semicarbazone ligands derived from sulfonamide were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and IR spectra. In mononuclear complexes, the semicarbazone behaves as a monoanionic terdentate or neutral terdentate ligand towards the metal ion. However, in binuclear complexes, it behaves as a monoanionic terdentate towards one of the bivalent metal ions and monoanionic bidentate ligand towards the other metal ion in the same complex. Electronic spectra and magnetic susceptibility measurements of the solid complexes indicated octahedral geometry around Mn(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) and square planar around the Cu(II) ion. These geometries were confirmed by the results obtained from thermal analyses. The antifungus properties of the ligands and their complexes were investigated.  相似文献

Coordinating properties of acetoxybenziporphyrin, (TPBPOAc)H, have been investigated for a number of metal ions. Insertion of Ni, Pd, and Fe results in the cleavage of the acetoxy group leading to complexes (TPBPO)Ni(II), (TPBPO)Pd(II), and (TPBPO)Fe(III)X containing a M-O bond. No cleavage is observed with Zn(II) and Cd(II), which form complexes (TPBPOAc)M(II)Cl, where M = Zn, Cd. (TPBPO)Ni(II) can also be obtained from the dication of hydroxybenziporphyrin, [(TPBPOH)H(3)]Cl(2), which is prepared by acid hydrolysis of the acetoxy compound. The diamagnetic (TPBPO)Ni(II) can be transformed into the paramagnetic (TPBPOAc)Ni(II)Cl in a reaction with acetyl chloride. X-ray structures have been determined for (TPBPO)Pd(II) and (TPBPOAc)Zn(II)Cl. In the palladium species, the phenolate moiety forms a strong bond to the Pd ion and an unusual interaction geometry is observed, enforced by the macrocyclic environment. Association of a TFA molecule to the phenolic oxygen does not cause significant structural changes in the (TPBPO)Pd(II) molecule. In (TPBPOAc)Zn(II)Cl, the metal ion weakly interacts with the phenolic fragment. The paramagnetic Fe(III) complexes, (TPBPO)Fe(III)X, have been investigated with (1)H NMR spectroscopy. The observed spectral patterns are consistent with the presence of a high-spin Fe(III) center and pi delocalization of spin density onto the phenoxide fragment. Each of the compounds (TPBPO)Fe(III)X exists in solution as a mixture of two isomers, which for X = I are shown to remain in a temperature-dependent equilibrium. The observed isomerism results from two nonequivalent orientations of the axial halide with respect to the puckered macrocyclic ring.  相似文献

Two new series of mononuclear and homobinuclear Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes with mono- and bis-azo compounds derived from 2,7-dihydroxynaphthalene and anthranilic acid or o-aminophenol are prepared and characterized by elemental and thermal analyses, conductance, IR, electronic, ESR spectra and magnetic moment measurements. The ligand field splitting parameters and Racah constant are calculated. The spectral and magnetic results obtained are utilized to determine the geometries around the metal(II) ion. The geometry of the complex formed depends on the structure of the ligand and the type of metal(II) ion. The mode of bonding of the ligand with the metal ions is deduced from IR spectra.  相似文献

A tridentate ONN donor ligand, 5-methyl-3-(2-hydroxyphenyl)pyrazole; H2L, was synthesized by reaction of 2-(3-ketobutanoyl)phenol with hydrazine hydrate. The ligand was characterized by IR, 1H NMR and mass spectra. 1H NMR spectra indicated the presence of the phenolic OH group and the imine NH group of the heterocyclic moiety. Different types of mononuclear metal complexes of the following formulae [(HL)2M][sdot]xH2O (M=VO, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn and Cd), [(HL)2M(H2O)2] (M=Mn and UO2) and [(HL)LFe(H2O)2] were obtained. The Fe(III) complex, [(HL)LFe(H2O)2] undergoes solvatochromism. Elemental analyses, IR, electronic and ESR spectra as well as thermal, conductivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements were used to elucidate the structures of the newly prepared metal complexes. A square-pyramidal geometry is suggested for the VO(IV) complex, square-planar for the Cu(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes, octahedral for the Fe(III) and Mn(II) complexes and tetrahedral for the Zn(II) and Cd(II) complexes, while the UO2(VI) complex is eight-coordinate. Transmetallation of the UO2(VI) ion in its mononuclear complex by Fe(III), Ni(II) or Cu(II) ions occurred and mononuclear Fe(III), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes were obtained. IR spectra of the products did not have the characteristic UO2 absorption band and the electronic spectra showed absorption bands similar to those obtained for the corresponding mononuclear complexes. Also, transmetallation of the Ni(II) ion in its mononuclear complex by Fe(III) has occurred. The antifungal activity of the ligand and the mononuclear complexes were investigated.  相似文献

The formation of mixed metal complexes between uranium (VI), as the central metal ion, and aluminium (III), indium (III), copper (II), zinc (II) and cadmium (II), as the additional metal ions, with a hydroxycarboxylic acid chosen between citric, tartaric or malic, has been studied using spectrophotometric methods. The effect of pH has been examined, and the results show that at pH=4 stable complexes are formed for most of the systems. At this pH the method of mole ratio and Job's method of continuous variations, were employed to determine the stoichiometry of the mixed metal complexes. Al(III), In(III) and Cu(II) showed a high tendency to form mixed metal complexes with U(VI), while the formation of complexes is uncertain for Cd(II) and Zn(II). The ratio of the ligand to the total metal ion has been found to be 21 and metal:metal ratios of 11 and 12 have been observed.Represents part of the Ph.D. thesis submitted by Emanuel Manzurola to Ben Gurion University of the Negev.  相似文献

Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes of the Schiff base derived from vanillin and dl-alpha-aminobutyric acid were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, electronic spectra, conductance measurements, magnetic measurements, powder XRD and biological activity. The analytical data show the composition of the metal complex to be [ML(H(2)O)], where L is the Schiff base ligand. The conductance data indicate that all the complexes are non-electrolytes. IR results demonstrate the tridentate binding of the Schiff base ligand involving azomethine nitrogen, phenolic oxygen and carboxylato oxygen atoms. The IR data also indicate the coordination of a water molecule with the metal ion in the complex. The electronic spectral measurements show that Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes have tetrahedral geometry, while Cu(II) complex has square planar geometry. The powder XRD studies indicate that Co(II) and Cu(II) complexes are amorphous, whereas Ni(II) and Zn(II) complexes are crystalline in nature. Magnetic measurements show that Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes have paramagnetic behaviour. Antibacterial results indicated that the metal complexes are more active than the ligand.  相似文献

Complexes of Cu(II), Ni(II) and Co(II) with the Schiff bases derived from o-aminobenzoic acid with salicylaldehyde and its 5-chloro and 5-bromo derivatives have been prepared. The 1:1 (metal-ligand) stoichiometry of these complexes is shown by elemental analysis, gravimetric estimations and conductometric titrations while the structures of the complexes are proved by i.r. spectra and thermogravimetric analysis. The magnetic susceptibility and electronic spectra of Cu(II) complexes indicate the nonplanar binuclear structures while that of Ni(II) and Co(II) show their paramagnetic octahedral geometry. The molar conductance values in nitrobenzene indicate the nonelectrolytic behaviour of the complexes. The results show that the complexes of the type (Cu·L)2, Ni·L·3H2O and Co·L·3H2O are formed having solvent molecule in coordination with the metal ion. The monopyridine and monoammonia adducts of Cu(II) complexes were found to be monomeric.  相似文献

Thiacalix[4]arenetetrasulfonate (TCAS) has been examined as a pre-column chelating reagent for the determination of trace metal ions by kinetic differentiation mode (KD) ion-pair reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with spectrophotometric detection. Among 14 kinds of common metal ions tested here, viz. Al(III), Ca(II), Cd(II), Co(II), Cr(III), Cu(II), Fe(III), Hg(II), Mg(II), Mn(II), Ni(II), Pb(II), V(V), and Zn(II) ion, only Ni(II) ion was detected as the TCAS chelate in the HPLC separation stage in spite of TCAS forming the chelates with various metal ions except for Al(III), Ca(II), and Mg(II) at the pre-column chelation stage. The undetected metal-TCAS chelates seemed to be dissociated on an HPLC column where no added TCAS was present in the mobile phase because of their kinetic unstability. The calibration graph for Ni(II) ion gave a wide linear dynamic range (40-20,000 nM) with the very low detection limit (DL) (3σ base-line fluctuation) to be 5.4 nM (0.32 ng ml−1). The practical applicability of the KD-HPLC method with TCAS was demonstrated with the determination of trace Ni in coal fly ash.  相似文献

Heterobi- and tri-nuclear complexes [LMM'Cl] and [(LM) 2 M'](M=Ni or Cu and M'=Mn, Fe or Co) have been synthesised. The heteronuclear complexes were prepared by stepwise reactions using two mononuclear Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes of the general formula [HLM]·1/2H 2 O, as ligands towards the metal ions, Mn(II), Fe(III) and Co(II). The asymmetrical pentadentate (N 2 O 3 ) Schiff-base ligands used were prepared by condensing acetoacetylphenol and ethylenediamine, molar ratio 1 1, to yield a half-unit compound which was further condensed with either salicylaldehyde or naphthaldehyde to yield the ligands H 3 L 1 and H 3 L 2 which possess two dissimilar coordination sites, an inner four-coordinate N 2 O 2 donor set and an outer three-coordinated O 2 O set. 1 H NMR and IR spectra indicate that the Ni(II) and Cu(II) ions are bonded to the inner N 2 O 2 sites of the ligands leaving their outer O 2 O sites vacant for further coordination. Different types of products were obtained according to the type of metal ion. These products differ in stoichiometry according to the type of ligand in the parent compound. Electronic spectra and magnetic moments indicate that the structures of the parent Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes are square-planar while the geometry around Fe(III), Mn(II) and Co(II) in their products are octahedral as elucidated from IR, UV-visible, ESR, 1 H NMR, mass spectrometry and magnetic moments.  相似文献

Summary Complexes of furan and thiophene azo-oximes with iron(II), cobalt(III), nickel(II) and copper(II) have been prepared and characterised. Iron(II), cobalt(III) and copper(II) complexes are diamagnetic in the solid state. The diamagnetism of the copper(II) chelates is suggestive of antiferromagnetic interaction between two copper centres.1H n.m.r. spectral data suggest atrans-octahedral geometry for the tris-chelates of cobalt(III). Nickel(II) complexes are paramagnetic, in contrast to the diamagnetism of the analogous complexes of arylazooximes. The electronic spectra are suggestive of octahedral geometry for the iron(II), cobalt(III) and nickel(II) complexes, andD 4h -symmetry for copper(II). Infrared data indicate N-bonding of the oximino-group to the metal ions.  相似文献

A novel metal aquo‐ion affinity chromatography has been developed for the analysis of basic compounds using heat‐treated silica gel containing hydrated metal cations (metal aquo‐ions) as the packing material. The packing materials of the metal aquo‐ion affinity chromatography were prepared by the immobilization of a single metal component such as Fe(III), Al(III), Ag(I), and Ni(II) on silica gel followed by extensive heat treatment. The immobilized metals form aquo‐ions to present cation‐exchange ability for basic analytes and the cation‐exchange ability for basic analytes depends on pKa of the immobilized metal species. In the present study, to evaluate the retention characteristics of metal aquo‐ion affinity chromatography, the on‐line solid‐phase extraction of drugs was investigated. Obtained data clearly evidence the selective retention capability of metal aquo‐ion affinity chromatography for basic analytes with sufficient capacity.  相似文献

End-off compartmental pentadentate Schiff base, 2,6-bis[3′-methyl-2′-carboxamidyliminomethyl(6′,7′)benzindole]-4-methylphenol is synthesized and characterized by 2D NMR experiments and mass spectral techniques. The homodinuclear phenalato bridged end-off compartmental Schiff-base complexes Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Mn(II), Fe(III), VO(IV), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) have been prepared by the template method using the precursors 2,6-diformyl-4-methylphenol, 3-methyl(6′,7′)-2-benzindolehydrazide and metal chlorides in 1?:?2?:?2 ratio. The complexes are characterized by IR, NMR, UV-vis, FAB-mass, ESR and TGA techniques. Ni(II), Mn(II) and Fe(III) complexes have octahedral geometry, whereas the Cu(II), Co(II), VO(IV), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) complexes have square pyramidal geometry. Low magnetic moment values for Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Mn(II), Fe(III) and VO(IV) complexes indicate antiferromagnetic spin-exchange interaction between two metal centers. The metal complexes have been screened for their antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphyloccocus aureus and antifungal activity against Aspergillus niger and Fusarium oxysporum.  相似文献

The conventional condensation and refluxing process was employed to synthesize Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes of Methylcarbamatethiosemicarbazone ligand. Reactions were carried out at the pH of 7. The molar ratio of the ligand and metal salt was 2:1. The structures of the synthesized metal complexes were suggested by different analytical techniques such as magnetic susceptibility, molar conductance, IR, EPR and UV spectroscopy. Experimental studies confirmed the octahedral geometry for all the complexes. The geometry of the ligand and complexes were also confirmed by theoretical studies. The complexes were investigated for biological action against pathogenic fungi (C. krusei, C. albican) and bacteria (S. aureus, E. coli). The antimicrobial results confirmed superior inhibition potential of the metal complexes as compared with the parent ligand. The enhanced antimicrobial activities might be due to the chelation. Molecular-docking assays confirmed the strong interaction of ligand with target antimicrobial protein DNA gyrase-B.  相似文献

In this study, Seven new complexes incorporating (E)-2-(((5-([2-hydroxyphenoxy]methyl)furan-2-yl)methylene)amino)phenol derived from 2-hydroxyphenoxymethylfuran-5-carbaldehyde and 2-aminophenol have been synthesized using Cu(II), Cr(III), Fe(III), Ni(II), Co(II), Zn(II), and Pt(IV) metal salts. Thermal measurements, molar conductance, magnetic moment, elemental analyses, spectral (IR, UV–Vis, 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), ESR, Mass), were used to characterize insulated solid complexes. The thermogravimetry (TG) and differential thermoanalysis (DTA) of the complexes were carried out in the range of 30–900°C. Magnetic susceptibility and electronic spectral data, as well as quantum chemical calculations, reveal the square planar geometry for Ni (II) complex, square planar/octahedral geometry for Cu (II) complex, while Co(II), Zn(II), Cr(III), Fe(III), and Pt (IV) complexes are octahedral geometry. Density functional theory (DFT) studies revealed that geometries of metal complexes and Schiff base were entirely optimized in relation to use energy by 6–31 + g (d,p) basis set. The complexes show a well-defined crystal system indicated by a powder-X-ray diffraction pattern. The scanning electron microscope showed complexes were nanocrystalline in nature, in addition to the interaction of the complexes with calf thymus CT-DNA, which was investigated via the UV–visible absorption method. Therefore, the DNA cleavage activity by the H2L ligand and its metal complexes was performed. Finally, the synthesized complexes were tested for their in-vitro antimicrobial efficacy.  相似文献
