The Ag(I)-promoted oxidative meso-meso coupling reaction of 5,15-diaryl Zn(II)-porphyrin was serendipitously found in the course of our synthetic approaches towards photosynthetic reaction centers. Based on this reaction, a variety of directly linked and fused porphyrin arrays have been synthesized, including linear meso-meso-linked porphyrin arrays, windmill- and grid-shaped porphyrin arrays, meso-beta singly linked diporphyrins, beta-beta linked diporphyrins, meso-beta doubly linked (fused) diporphyrins and oligoporphyrins, meso-meso beta-beta doubly linked (fused) diporphyrins, and meso-meso beta-beta-beta-beta triply linked (fused) diporphyrins. The meso-meso coupling reaction of 5,15-diaryl Zn(II)-porphyrins is advantageous considering its high regioselectivity as well as its ease of extension to large porphyrin arrays as is demonstrated by the synthesis of a discrete meso-meso-linked 128-mer and poly(5,15-porphyrinylene). Finally, the oxidation of end-phenyl capped meso-meso-linked zinc porphyrins with DDQ-Sc(OTf)(3) gave pi-conjugated flat porphyrin tapes. To the best of our knowledge, the meso-meso linked 128-mer is the longest man-made discrete molecule, and the porphyrin tape 12-mer is the most extensively conjugated porphyrin array, as evinced by the lowest electronic band peak at 3500 cm(-1).  相似文献

Oxidative chemical vapour deposition of (5,15-diphenylporphyrinato)nickel(II) (NiDPP) with iron(III) chloride as oxidant yielded a conjugated poly(metalloporphyrin) as a highly coloured thin film, which is potentially useful for optoelectronic applications. This study clarified the reactive sites of the porphyrin monomer NiDPP by HRMS, UV/Vis/NIR spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry and EPR spectroscopy in combination with quantum chemical calculations. Unsubstituted meso positions are essential for successful polymerisation, as demonstrated by varying the porphyrin meso substituent pattern from di- to tri- and tetraphenyl substitution. DFT calculations support the proposed radical oxidative coupling mechanism and explain the regioselectivity of the C−C coupling processes. Depositing the conjugated polymer on glass slides and on thermoplastic transparent polyethylene naphthalate demonstrated the suitability of the porphyrin material for flexible optoelectronic devices.  相似文献

Magnesium(II) 10‐phenyl‐5,15‐p‐ditolylporphyrin is easily and cleanly transformed by electrolysis. A nitro group is first introduced at the free meso position by anodic substitution. Hydrogenation into the amine is then carried out electrocatalytically under ambient conditions with water as a hydrogen supplier. The synthesized porphyrin under the nickel(II) form can be covalently grafted onto a platinum electrode by electrochemical reduction of the diazonium cation, generated in situ by a reaction of the nickel(II) aminoporphyrin with sodium nitrite and trifluoroacetic acid. The electrosynthesized thin film gives an electrochemical response typical of a porphyrin material. Films grown under our conditions have a maximum surface coverage of approximately 5×10?10 mol cm?2. The modified electrode exhibits a reproducible electrochemical behavior and a good level of stability over potential cycling and exposition to air.  相似文献

The electrochemical reduction of a series of nickel porphyrins with an increasing number of substituents was investigated in acetonitrile. A one‐electron reduction of [5,15‐bis(1‐ethylpropyl)porphyrinato]nickel(II) leads to π‐anion radicals and to efficient formation of phlorin anions, presumably by disproportionation and subsequent protonation of the doubly reduced species. The phlorin anion was identified by using cyclic voltammetry and UV/Vis and resonance Raman spectroelectrochemistry, complemented by quantum‐chemical calculations to assign the spectral signatures. The theoretical analysis of the potential‐energy landscape of the singly reduced species suggests a thermally activated intersystem crossing that populates the quartet state and thus lowers the energy barrier towards disproportionation channels. Structure–reactivity correlations are investigated by considering different substitution patterns of the investigated nickel(II) porphyrin cores, that is, for the porphyrin with additional β‐aryl ([5,15‐bis(1‐ethylpropyl)‐2,8,12,18‐tetra(p‐tolyl)porphyrinato]nickel(II)) and meso‐alkyl substitution ([5,10,15,20‐tetrakis(1‐ethylpropyl)porphyrinato]nickel(II)), no phlorin anion formation was observed under electrochemical conditions. This observation is correlated either to kinetic inhibition of the disproportionation reaction or to lower reactivity of the subsequently formed doubly reduced species towards protonation.  相似文献

A set of 5,15‐biphenylene‐bridged porphyrin wheels, namely, [n]cyclo‐5,15‐porphyrinylene‐4,4′‐biphenylenes [n]CPB , have been synthesized through the platination of 5,15‐bis(4‐(pinacolboranyl)phenyl) nickel(II) porphyrin and subsequent reductive elimination of PtII(cod)‐bridged cyclic porphyrin intermediates. The calculated strain energies for [3]CPB , [4]CPB , [5]CPB , and [6]CPB are 49.3, 32.9, 23.5, and 16.0 kcal mol?1, respectively. UV/Vis absorption spectra and cyclic voltammetry indicated characteristic ring‐size‐dependent absorption‐peak shifts and redox‐potential shifts, which presumably reflect the degree of strain in the π‐systems. Excitation‐energy hopping (EEH) times were determined to be 5.1, 8.0, 8.0, and 9.6 ps for [3]CPB , [4]CPB , [5]CPB , and [6]CPB , respectively, in a pump‐power‐dependent TA experiment.  相似文献

Tetrameric porphyrin formation of 2‐hydroxymethylpyrrole fused with porphyrins through a bicyclo[2.2.2]octadiene unit gave bicyclo[2.2.2]octadiene‐fused porphyrin pentamers. Thermal conversion of the pentamers gave fully π‐conjugated cruciform porphyrin pentamers fused with benzene units in quantitative yields. UV/Vis spectra of fully π‐conjugated porphyrin pentamers showed one very strong Q absorption and were quite different from those of usual porphyrins. From TD‐DFT calculations, the HOMO level is 0.49 eV higher than the HOMO?1 level. The LUMO and LUMO+1 levels are very close and are lower by more than 0.27 eV than those of other unoccupied MOs. The strong Q absorption was interpreted as two mutually orthogonal single‐electron transitions (683 nm: 86 %, HOMO→LUMO; 680 nm: 86 %, HOMO→LUMO+1). The two‐photon absorption (TPA) cross section value (σ(2)) of the benzene‐fused porphyrin pentamer was estimated to be 3900 GM at 1500 nm, which is strongly correlated with a cruciform molecular structure with multidirectional π‐conjugation pathways.  相似文献

Rings of porphyrins mimic natural light-harvesting chlorophyll arrays and offer insights into electronic delocalization, providing a motivation for creating larger nanorings with closely spaced porphyrin units. Here, we demonstrate the first synthesis of a macrocycle consisting entirely of 5,15-linked porphyrins. This porphyrin octadecamer was constructed using a covalent six-armed template, made by cobalt-catalyzed cyclotrimerization of an H-shaped tolan with porphyrin trimer ends. The porphyrins around the circumference of the nanoring were linked together by intramolecular oxidative meso-meso coupling and partial β-β fusion, to give a nanoring consisting of six edge-fused zinc(II) porphyrin dimer units and six un-fused nickel(II) porphyrins. STM imaging on a gold surface confirms the size and shape of the spoked 18-porphyrin nanoring (calculated diameter: 4.7 nm).  相似文献

Self‐assembled porphyrins via noncovalent bonding have attracted wide‐ranging researchers in material science. We reported herein the synthesis of the tetraphenyl porphyrin derivatives bearing uracyl groups as acceptor–donor–acceptor (ADA) type hydrogen bonding units, through the condensation of 5,10‐ or 5,15‐bis (3‐amino‐4‐ethylhexylphenyl) porphyrin derivatives with 6‐carboxyuracyl derivatives. When two porphyrins having uracyl groups at the different substituted positions were respectively mixed with a melamine derivative in benzene, 1H NMR spectra showed that the 5,15 substituted uracyl porphyrin formed a hydrogen‐bonded suprastructure with the melamine derivative as a complementary molecule to the uracyl moiety, although the other 5,10‐substituted uracylporphyrin could not form such a structure. The SEM observation indicated that the mixture with the 5,15‐substituted uracyl porphyrin and the melamine with long alkyl chains formed a sheet‐like structure. New opp‐dibenzoporphyrins were prepared in a concise method that was based on a Pd0‐catalyzed cascade reaction. These porphyrins, which contained carboxylic‐acid linker groups on benzene rings that were fused to the porphyrin at their β,β′‐positions, were examined as sensitizers for dye‐sensitized solar cells for the first time. Whereas all of the porphyrins showed solar‐energy‐to‐electricity conversion, an opp‐dibenzoporphyrin with conjugated carboxylic‐acid linkers displayed the highest conversion efficiency and an exceptionally high Jsc value. Cyclic voltammetry of these porphyrins suggested that the fusion of two aromatic benzene rings onto the periphery of the porphyrin lowered the HOMO–LUMO energy gap; the incorporation of a conjugated carboxylic‐acid linker group decreased the HOMO–LUMO gap even further. These CV data are consistent with DFT calculations for these porphyrins and agree well with the UV/Vis absorption‐ and fluorescence spectra of these porphyrins.  相似文献

The synthesis, electronic absorption and 1H NMR spectra of a suite of novel porphyrinoids derived from meso-bromoporphyrins by palladium-catalysed aminations using ethyl and tert-butylcarbazates are reported. Instead of the expected carbazate-substituted porphyrins, a facile oxidative dearomatisation of the porphyrin ring occurs in high yield, especially for the nickel(II) complexes, resulting in high yields of 5,15-diiminoporphodimethenes (DIPDs). The analogous zinc(II) and free base DIPDs were also characterised, the former by X-ray crystallography. The oxidation and reduction reactions of DIPDs and their precursor carbazate porphyrins were studied. Density Functional Theory (DFT) was used to calculate the optimised geometries and frontier molecular orbitals of DIPD Ni8c and bis(azocarboxylate) 19c, and Time Dependent DFT calculations allowed the prediction of electronic absorption spectra, whose characteristics corresponded well with those of the observed solution spectra. In the latter case, the calculated low-energy absorptions were unlike those of a typical porphyrin, due to the near-degeneracy of the highest filled frontier orbitals, and the wide energy separation between the unfilled orbitals. This feature was present in the observed spectrum.  相似文献

Free-base, nickel(II), zinc(II) and iron(III) mono(4-aniline-ethynyl)biphenylporphines (AEBPPs) were synthesized and their electro-polymerization reactions were studied. Electrochemical and UV-Visible experiments showed that AEBPPs were electro-polymerized onto Pt and indium tin oxide (ITO) surfaces without significantly changing their redox and spectral properties. This suggests that the pi-conjugations of these porphyrins were not greatly affected upon electro-polymerization. SEM images indicated the formation of porphyrin films on the electrode surfaces, while EDS spectra of the metallo-AEBPP films confirmed deposits of the corresponding metals. Upon closer inspection, the AFM images revealed nano-scale fine structure of these porphyrin films. Both SEM and AFM images of the porphyrin films showed similar trends of porphyrin accumulation.  相似文献

NH‐bridged and pyrazine‐fused metallodiazaporphyrin dimers have been prepared from nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes of 3‐amino‐5,15‐diazaporphyrin by Pd‐catalyzed C−N cross‐coupling and oxidative dimerization reactions, respectively. The synergistic effects of the nitrogen bridges and meso ‐nitrogen atoms play major roles in enhancing the light‐harvesting properties and delocalization of an electron spin over the entire π‐skeletons of the metallodiazaporphyrin dimers.  相似文献

The construction of macro-molecular system containing multiple redox centers or photosensitizers is aimportant subject in the design of molecular electronidevices.1,2 For such objectives, systematization of donor-redox center-acceptor triad molecules into largmolecular systems is one of the most feasible approaches, because the exquisite incorporation of thphotosensitizers and suitable electron donors and/oacceptors into a polymeric chain is useful for varioumolecular electronic systems.3-5 Th…  相似文献

In this work, we report the synthesis, spectroscopic characterization, and theoretical analysis of a linearly conjugated pentacene‐fused porphyrin dimer and cross‐conjugated quinone‐fused dinaphtho[2,3]porphyrins. These multichromophoric systems display non‐typical UV‐visible absorptions of either porphyrins or pentacenes/quinones. UV‐visible, emission and magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) spectroscopy suggest strong electronic interactions among the multichromophores in the system. DFT calculations revealed the delocalization of the HOMOs and LUMOs spanning the entire dimer and linker assembly. The pentacene‐fused porphyrin dimer is significantly more stable than both the corresponding pentacene and the heptacene derivatives. The availability of these huge π‐extended and electronically highly interactive multichromophoric systems promises unprecedented electronic and photophysical properties.  相似文献

Synthesis, structural characteristics, and optical and electrochemical properties of various covalently-linked porphyrin arrays are described. First, aromatic-spacer bridged diporphyrins were prepared in which the diporphyrin geometries were conformationally-restricted and thus suitable for detailed studies on the exciton coupling and the intramolecular energy and/or electron transfer reactions. Secondly, the Ag(I)-salt oxidation of 5,15-diaryl Zn(II) porphyrins provided mesomeso-linked Zn(II)-diporphyrins. This reaction is advantageous in light of its high regioselectivity and easy extension to longer porphyrin arrays. The doubling reaction was repeated up to the synthesis of a discrete 128-mer, which is, to the best of our knowledge, the longest man-made molecule. Finally, the oxidation of mesomeso-linked Zn(II) porphyrin arrays with a combination of 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone (DDQ) and Sc(III)(OTf)3 produced fused porphyrin arrays with full π-conjugation, which displayed extremely small HOMO–LUMO gaps that reach into the infrared region.  相似文献

Differently functionalized porphyrin linkers represent the key compounds for the syntheses of new porphyrin-based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), which have gathered great interest within the last two decades. Herein we report the synthesis of a large range of 5,15-bis(4-ethoxycarbonylphenyl)porphyrin derivatives, through Suzuki and Sonogashira cross-coupling reactions of an easily accessible corresponding meso-dibrominated trans-A2B2-porphyrin with commercially available boronic acids or terminal alkynes. The resulting porphyrins were fully characterized through NMR, MS, and IR spectroscopy and systematically investigated through UV/Vis absorption. Finally, selected structures were saponified to the corresponding carboxylic acids and subsequently proven to be suitable for the synthesis of surface-anchored MOF thin films.  相似文献

Two novel porphyrin‐based D‐A conjugated copolymers, PFTTQP and PBDTTTQP , consisting of accepting quinoxalino[2,3‐b′]porphyrin unit and donating fluorene or benzo[1,2‐b:4,5‐b′]dithiophene unit, were synthesized, respectively via a Pd‐catalyzed Stille‐coupling method. The quinoxalino[2,3‐b′]porphyrin, an edge‐fused porphyrin monomer, was used as a building block of D‐A copolymers, rather than the simple porphyrin unit in conventional porphyrin‐based photovoltaic polymers reported in literature, to enhance the coplanarity and to extend the π‐conjugated system of polymer main chains, and consequently to facilitate the intramolecular charge transfer (ICT). The thermal stability, optical, and electrochemical properties as well as the photovoltaic characteristics of the two polymers were systematically investigated. Both the polymers showed high hole mobility, reaching 4.3 × 10?4 cm2 V?1 s?1 for PFTTQP and 2.0 × 10?4 cm2 V?1 s?1 for PBDTTTQP . Polymer solar cells (PSCs) made from PFTTQP and PBDTTTQP demonstrated power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of 2.39% and 1.53%, both of which are among the highest PCE values in the PSCs based on porphyrin‐based conjugated polymers. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The synthesis and characterization of poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) using water‐assisted vapor phase polymerization (VPP) and oxidative chemical vapor deposition (oCVD) are reported. For the VPP PEDOT, the oxidant, FeCl3, is sublimated onto the substrate from a heated crucible in the reactor chamber and subsequently exposed to 3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) monomer and water vapor in the same reactor. The oCVD PEDOT was produced by introducing the oxidant, EDOT monomer, and water vapor simultaneously to the reactor. The enhancement of doping and crystallinity is observed in the water‐assisted oCVD thin films. The high doping level observed at UV–vis–NIR spectra for the oCVD PEDOT, suggests that water acts as a solubilizing agent for oxidant and its byproducts. Although the VPP produced PEDOT thin films are fully amorphous, their conductivities are comparable with that of the oCVD produced ones.

Mono‐ and bis(diphenylborane)‐fused porphyrins were synthesized from the corresponding β‐(2‐trimethylsilylphenyl)‐substituted porphyrins through the sequence of Si–B exchange reaction, intramolecular bora‐Friedel–Crafts reaction, and ring‐closing Si–B exchange reaction. Effective electronic interactions of the empty p‐orbital of the boron atom with the porphyrin π‐circuit lead to red‐shifted absorption spectra and substantially decreased LUMO energy levels. Pyridine adds at the boron center to cause disruption of the electronic interaction of the boron atom with large association constants (1.9–17×104 m ?1) depending on the central metal at the porphyrin. The ZnII complex behaved as a hetero‐dinuclear Lewis acid, exhibiting regioselective binding of pyridines at the boron or the zinc center.  相似文献

The present paper reports the first comprehensive study on the synthesis, structures, optical and electrochemical properties, and peripheral functionalizations of nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes of β‐unsubstituted 5,15‐diazaporphyrins (M‐DAP; M=Ni, Cu) and pyridazine‐fused diazacorrinoids (Ni‐DACX; X=N, O). These two classes of compounds were constructed starting from mesityldipyrromethane by a metal–template method. Ni‐DAP and Cu‐DAP were prepared in high yields by the reaction of the respective metal–bis(dibromodipyrrin) complexes with NaN3–CuX (X=I, Br), whereas Ni‐DACN and Ni‐DACO were formed as predominant products by the reaction with NaN3. In both cases, the metal centers change their geometry from tetrahedral to square planar during the aza‐annulation; X‐ray crystallographic analyses of M‐DAPs showed highly planar diazaporphyrin π planes. The Q band of Ni‐DAP was redshifted and intensified compared with that of a nickel–porphyrin reference, due to the involvement of electronegative nitrogen atoms at the meso positions. It was found that the peripheral bromination of Ni‐DAP and Ni‐DACO occurred regioselectively to afford Ni‐DAP‐Br4 and Ni‐DACO‐Br, respectively. These brominated derivatives underwent Stille reactions with tributyl(phenyl)stannane to give the corresponding phenylated derivatives, Ni‐DAP‐Ph4 and Ni‐DACO‐Ph. On the basis of the absorption spectra and X‐ray analysis, it has been concluded that the attached phenyl groups efficiently conjugate with the diazaporphyrin π system. The present results unambiguously corroborate that the β‐unsubstituted DAPs and DACXs are promising platforms for the development of a new class of π‐conjugated azaporphyrin‐based materials.  相似文献
