This paper presents the theory, design, and validation of a microphone calibrator used to simultaneously calibrate the amplitudes of multiple microphones on a single probe. The probe uses four 6 mm diameter electret microphones to acquire the data needed to compute acoustic energy density. This probe has prompted the need for simultaneous, multi-microphone amplitude calibration. The calibration process simultaneously subject each microphone on the probe to the same known acoustic pressure using four equal-length, small-diameter tubes connected to a single excitation source. A reference microphone connected to a fifth tube is used to calibrate the microphones. Test results show that the calibrator can calibrate each probe microphone within ±0.5 dB up to 2 kHz, and within ±1 dB up to 4.9 Hz with a confidence level of 95%.  相似文献

Local blood pressure measurements provide important information on the state of health of organs in the body and can be used to diagnose diseases in the heart, lungs, and kidneys. This paper presents an approach for investigating the ambient pressure sensitivity of a contrast agent using diagnostic ultrasound. The experimental setup resembles a realistic clinical setup utilizing a single array transducer for transmit and receive. The ambient pressure sensitivity of SonoVue (Bracco, Milano, Italy) was measured twice using two different acoustic driving pressures, which were selected based on a preliminary experiment. To compensate for variations in bubble response and to make the estimates more robust, the relation between the energy of the subharmonic and the fundamental component was chosen as a measure over the subharmonic peak amplitude. The preliminary study revealed the growth stage of the subharmonic component to occur at acoustic driving pressures between 300 and 500 kPa. Based on this, the pressure sensitivity was investigated using a driving pressure of 485 and 500 kPa. At 485 kPa, a linear pressure sensitivity of 0.42 dB/kPa was found having a linear correlation coefficient of 0.94. The second measurement series at 485 kPa showed a sensitivity of 0.41 dB/kPa with a correlation coefficient of 0.89. Based on the measurements at 500 kPa, this acoustic driving pressure was concluded to be too high causing the bubbles to be destroyed. The pressure sensitivity for these two measurement series were 0.42 and 0.25 dB/kPa with linear correlation coefficients of 0.98 and 0.93, respectively.  相似文献

The performances of two Laser Doppler Velocimetry (LDV) systems adapted for measuring the acoustic particle velocities are assessed in enclosed sound field. This assessment is performed by comparing the acoustic velocities measured by means of LDV to reference acoustic velocities estimated from sound pressure measurements. The two LDV systems are based on a single optical bench which delivers an optical signal called Doppler signal. The Doppler signal, which is frequency modulated, is analyzed by means of two signal processing systems, the BSA (Burst Spectrum Analyser from Dantec) on the one hand, and a system specifically developed for the estimation of the acoustic velocity on the other hand. Once the experimental setup has been optimized for minimizing the errors made on the reference velocities, the assessment is performed and shows that both systems can measure the acoustic velocity in enclosed field in two the frequency ranges [0-4 kHz] and [0-2 kHz] respectively for acoustic velocity amplitudes of 10 mm/s and 1 mm/s.  相似文献

Acoustic analysis of a liquefied petroleum gas-fired pulse combustor   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Experimental investigation of acoustic characteristics of a Helmholtz type liquefied petroleum gas-fired pulse combustor is presented. In the experiments, the length of the tail pipe was changed from 1.9 m to 1.3 m by 10 cm intervals. Sound level measurements were taken from the exhaust side (outlet) and air flapper side (inlet) at a distance of 1 m from both sides. With decreasing lengths of the tail pipe, the sound pressure level increased. At the measurements related to the exhaust side, the maximum value of equivalent continuous sound pressure level, LEQ was 96.6 dB when the length of the tailpipe and fundamental frequency were 1.3 m and 63 Hz, respectively. Same kinds of measurements were performed at the air flapper side, but the LEQ value was stronger at the exhaust side than the one at the air flapper side. It was also observed that the effect of the type of gaseous fuel on the acoustic efficiency of the pulse combustor can be neglected when the results of the acoustic efficiencies were compared to those in the literature. In order to compare the accuracy of frequencies measured by the sound level meter, a suitable dynamic pressure transducer and a spectrum analyzer were used to perform amplitude and frequency measurements. The average deviation between the measurements performed by the sound level meter and dynamic pressure transducer was 2.4 Hz (3.8% errors) while the average deviation was 3.8 Hz (6% errors) between the sound level meter and spectrum analyzer.  相似文献

Pass-by noise from high-speed trains is one important area that has to be handled in all new train projects. For the new line between Oslo and the Gardemoen Airport which opened in 1998, very stringent requirements were set out regarding external noise. To reach the target it was decided that the train should be equipped with wheel dampers. Two different types of wheel dampers were used on the train; a ring damper was mounted on the wheels of the driven bogies, whilst plate dampers divided into tuned absorber fins were mounted on the wheels of the trailer bogies.During the type testing of the Airport Express Train, additional measurements were performed in order to evaluate the acoustic effect of the plate wheel dampers. Two test series were performed with the same train set; first with the train in standard configuration and secondly with the wheel dampers removed from the second and third bogie. The external noise was measured at 5 and 25 m distance from the centre of the track at speeds ranging from 80 to 200 km/h. The third-octave filtered time histories were analyzed to calculate the effect of the wheel dampers. As expected, there was a significant reduction of 4-6 dB at frequencies above 2000 Hz, but there was also a reduction of 2 dB for frequencies as low as 800 Hz. This reduction was also found in the parts of the time histories when the rail should be dominating. This implies that the wheel dampers also reduce the rail noise. The total rolling noise reduction for the trailer bogie was 3 dB at 200 km/h and 1 dB at 80 km/h. From comparison with TWINS-calculated sound power levels it was estimated that the wheel noise would be reduced by 5 dB and the rail noise would be reduced by 1 dB at 200 km/h.  相似文献

The active control of sound transmission through a rectangular panel is experimentally verified. The control system is based on a collocated volume velocity sensor/actuator pair which measures and excites the first radiation mode of the panel. Suppression of the first radiation mode is an efficient strategy to control the low frequency sound radiation from the panel. This configuration leads to a simple single-input single-output control system, to which feedback control can be applied.Two implementations of the volume velocity sensor/actuator pair are tested. First, a polyvinyledene fluoride polymer (PVDF) volume velocity actuator foil with shaped electrodes is used in combination with an identical PVDF volume velocity sensor foil. Due to the mechanical coupling between the PVDF sensor and actuator foil, it is shown that a direct velocity feedback control scheme is not feasible because higher order structural modes will be destabilized. Instead integral force feedback is applied, such that the open-loop transfer function has a roll-off towards higher frequencies. Experiments show that this control strategy results in a reduction of the sound pressure in the receiving room of 10 dB at the first structural resonance without spillover to higher order modes. Due to the roll-off towards high frequencies, the control over higher order modes remains limited. Second, a discrete volume velocity sensor is constructed by summing the signals from 12 point sensors placed on the panel. The volume velocity actuator consists of two PVDF foils, glued on each side of the panel and driven in opposite phase. Direct volume velocity feedback is applied to this system, which is minimum phase. This control system is capable of reducing the sound pressure in the receiving room below 300 Hz by 10-15 dB without spillover to higher order modes.  相似文献

In this paper, we present the transmission characteristics of a polyurea ultrasonic transducer operating in water. In this study, we used a polyurea transducer with fundamental resonance at approximately 30 MHz. Firstly, acoustic pressure radiated from the transducer was measured using a hydrophone, which has a diameter of 0.2 mm. The transmission characteristics such as relative bandwidth, pulse width, and acoustic sensitivity were calculated from the experimental results. The results of the experiment showed a relative bandwidth of 50% and a pulse width of 0.061 μs. The acoustic sensitivity was 0.60 kPa/V with good linearity, where the correlation coefficient R in the fitting calculation was 0.996. A maximum pressure of 13.1 kPa was observed when the transducer was excited at a zero-to-peak voltage of 21 V. Moreover, we experimentally verified the results. The results of the pulse/echo experiment showed that the estimated diameters of the copper wires were 458 and 726 μm, where the differences between the actual and measured values were 15% and 4%, respectively. Acoustic streaming was also observed so that a particle velocity map was estimated by particle image velocimetry (PIV). The sound pressure calculated from the particle velocity obtained by PIV showed good agreement with the acoustic pressure measured using the hydrophone, where the differences between the calculated and measured values were 12–19%.  相似文献

Many applications require micro-vibration measurement, especially multi-points detection at long distance in real-time. In this paper, a micro-vibration measurement approach based on digital holographic interferometry is proposed for middle-low frequency detection. It can be used to monitor irregular frequency/amplitude vibration in selected region over 10 m away simultaneously and synchronously. A series of experiments were conducted including real-time measurement of 300 Hz, 1 kHz, 2 kHz and 3 kHz constant frequency/amplitude periodic vibration, precision and frequency response tests with calibration of LDV, 1 kHz irregular amplitude vibration, irregular frequency/amplitude vibration as well as the real-time measurement and simultaneous display of multi-points vibration. The experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed method and reveal its unique advantages.  相似文献

The primary objective of this work was to develop and optimize the calibration techniques for ultrasonic hydrophone probes used in acoustic field measurements up to 100 MHz. A dependable, 100 MHz calibration method was necessary to examine the behavior of a sub-millimeter spatial resolution fiber optic (FO) sensor and assess the need for such a sensor as an alternative tool for high frequency characterization of ultrasound fields. Also, it was of interest to investigate the feasibility of using FO probes in high intensity fields such as those employed in HIFU (high intensity focused ultrasound) applications. In addition to the development and validation of a novel, 100 MHz calibration technique the innovative elements of this research include implementation and testing of a prototype FO sensor with an active diameter of about 10 μm that exhibits uniform sensitivity over the considered frequency range and does not require any spatial averaging corrections up to about 75 MHz. The results of the calibration measurements are presented and it is shown that the optimized calibration technique allows the sensitivity of the hydrophone probes to be determined as a virtually continuous function of frequency and is also well suited to verify the uniformity of the FO sensor frequency response. As anticipated, the overall uncertainty of the calibration was dependent on frequency and determined to be about ±12% (±1 dB) up to 40 MHz, ±20% (±1.5 dB) from 40 to 60 MHz and ±25% (±2 dB) from 60 to 100 MHz. The outcome of this research indicates that once fully developed and calibrated, the combined acousto-optic system will constitute a universal reference tool in the wide, 100 MHz bandwidth.  相似文献

Fan is one of the main noise sources of the room air-conditioners. Axial flow fans are widely used in the outdoor unit of split type air-conditioners. The interaction between the fan and the heat exchanger should be taken into consideration. However, only a few researches have been carried out on predicting the aeroacoustic noise because of the difficulty in obtaining detailed information of the flow field. This paper is to understand the generation mechanism of sound and to develop a prediction method for the flow field and the acoustic pressure field of the outdoor unit. Acoustic measurement is performed in a semi-anechoic chamber. Effects of each components is analyzed. Based on commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code, Fluent, Fukano’s model is used to predict the overall sound pressure level of broadband noise. The predicted sound pressure levels based on original Fukano’s model are 7.66 dB and 7.42 dB lower than measurement results at 780 rpm and 684 rpm, respectively. And the errors are about 13%. However, when wake width and relative velocity are both calculated by numerical simulations and the distance to blade trailing edge is taken into consideration, the difference of sound pressure level between measurement and prediction is less than 3.4 dB and errors less than 5.5% while the distance is less than 10 mm. Thus, the distance to blade trailing edge should also be an important parameter for Fukano’s model. In comparison with experimental results, it is clearly shown that the Fukano method based on numerical simulation can provide more accuracy than the original Fukano model and numerical results are in a reliable level.  相似文献

阐述了水听器在10~500 kHz频率范围的激光外差干涉法原级校准的原理和测量装置。利用激光外差干涉系统非接触测量水中反光薄膜在声波调制下引起的多普勒频移,经过零点信号解调算法得到水质点振速,准确复现水下声压量值,之后将水听器置于水中测量点完成对其自由场电压灵敏度的原级校准。对各误差因素进行了分析,详细给出了系统测量不确定度的评定方法,在所测频段的不确定度为0.6 dB (k=2)。将激光外差干涉法水听器校准结果与自由场互易法结果进行了对比,在整个测量频率范围内结果等效,且前者不确定度更小。为建立新的水声计量基准和实现水声量值的扁平化传递奠定了基础。   相似文献

Automatic power equalization and stabilization of a liquid crystal enabled channel-selectable optical demultiplexer is demonstrated. The variation among output signals from different channels was reduced from ∼10 dB to 0.15 dB with feedback control. The minimum ripple level of a single channel is ∼0.05 dB. As a variable optical attenuator (VOA), the attenuation range of the device is ∼12.6 dB.  相似文献

Cardiac elastography using radiofrequency echo signals can provide improved 2D strain information compared to B-mode image data, provided data are acquired at sufficient frame rates. In this paper, we evaluate ultrasound frame rate requirements for unbiased and robust estimation of tissue displacements and strain. Both tissue-mimicking phantoms under cyclic compressions at rates that mimic the contractions of the heart and in vivo results are presented. Sinusoidal compressions were applied to the phantom at frequencies ranging from 0.5 to 3.5 cycles/sec, with a maximum deformation of 5% of the phantom height. Local displacements and strains were estimated using both a two-step one-dimensional and hybrid two-dimensional cross-correlation method. Accuracy and repeatability of local strains were assessed as a function of the ultrasound frame rate based on signal-to-noise ratio values.The maximum signal-to-noise ratio obtained in a uniformly elastic phantom is 20 dB for both a 1.26 Hz and a 2 Hz compression frequency when the radiofrequency echo acquisition is at least 12 Hz and 20 Hz respectively. However, for compression frequencies of 2.8 Hz and 4 Hz the maximum signal-to-noise ratio obtained is around 16 dB even for a 40 Hz frame rate. Our results indicate that unbiased estimation of displacements and strain require ultrasound frame rates greater than ten times the compression frequency, although a frame rate of about two times the compression frequency is sufficient to estimate the compression frequency imparted to the tissue-mimicking phantom. In vivo results derived from short-axis views of the heart acquired from normal human volunteers also demonstrate this frame rate requirement for elastography.  相似文献

The effect of distance on the peak sound pressure level and sound exposure level from an SA80 rifle has been investigated. Sound pressure waveforms were measured in two directions from the gun: downrange, from 50 m to 300 m, and to the left-hand side, from 0.3 m to 32 m. Some additional measurements were made to the right of the gun. Measurements made downrange showed three distinct features of the waveform; the shock wave from the supersonic bullet, the reflection from the ground, and the muzzle blast. The time elapsed between the shock wave and the muzzle blast increased with increasing distance: 94 ms for a distance of 50 m, and 507 ms for a distance of 300 m. The highest peak sound level downrange from a single round was between 151 dB(C) and 148 dB(C) at distances from 50 m to 300 m, and varied little if at all with distance. To the left of the gun, the peak sound pressure level of 161 dB(C) at 0.3 m reduced to 128 dB(C) at 32 m. The peak sound pressure level was estimated to be 137 dB(C) at a distance of approximately 20 m to the left-hand side. Hearing protection must therefore be worn by anyone closer than 20 m to a person firing. The peak sound pressure level was estimated to be 135 dB(C) at a distance of approximately 25 m and therefore hearing protection is recommended at distances of up to 25 m. The sound exposure level of 98 dB(A) at 20 m indicated that an observer at this distance could hear about 1440 rounds without hearing protection before the noise exposure reached the upper exposure action value specified in the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005. Peak sound pressure levels were on average 2.4 dB higher at the left ear compared with the right ear.  相似文献

An in-line hydraulic noise suppressor with a lossy, compressible liner made of foamed polyurethane liner is introduced which is intended to provide an alternative to current in-line silencing devices using compressed nitrogen gas volumes. The liner is engineered to be compressible at elevated pressures, such that it can provide effective noise abatement for practical hydraulic systems. In support of such work, a multimodal model is developed to characterize the device and the liner material. Because the hydraulic system is pressurized after insertion of the liner, the model must address liner compression and the corresponding small gaps introduced in the expansion volume; additionally, both compression and shear wave propagation must be considered in the liner. Several mode matching solutions are investigated, and a pseudoinverse mode matching method is found to provide good convergence characteristics. The multimodal model is validated against a finite element model, and also used in an optimization algorithm to estimate the material properties of a prototype liner using experimental transmission loss data. Experimental results show broadband transmission loss performance at 2.8 MPa system pressure; transmission loss decreases with increasing system pressure, and data at 4.1 MPa system pressure produces about 4 dB less transmission loss than a similarly sized commercial device. The multimodal model with estimated material properties at 2.8 MPa achieves a root mean squared error of 1.7 dB or less for two different length devices over a frequency range of 50–2000 Hz.  相似文献

The direction-of-arrival (DOA) tracking performance of microphone arrays having aperture sizes ranging from 0.3 to 34 m is examined for an experiment involving a vehicle traversing a moderately complex terrain. A segment of the vehicle’s path was obscured behind a small, 6.7-m high, vegetated hill. The combination of the hill and upwind propagation created an acoustic shadow during this segment. DOA tracks were estimated with a minimum-variance distortionless response (MVDR) beamformer operating in two frequency bands: 25-60 Hz and 60-105 Hz. In the lower frequency band, array sizes between 1 and 8 m gave the best results, with DOA errors between 2° and 5°. Furthermore, in this band shadowing from the hill and wind refraction had a minimal affect on DOA error. In the higher frequency band, the acoustic shadow zone produced a distinct interval of high DOA error, with the 8-m array giving the best overall performance. Modeling of the beamforming process shows that high DOA errors corresponded to MVDR wavenumber patterns that are degraded by distortions to the propagating wavefronts. Our experimental results indicate that small acoustic arrays with apertures less than 0.3 m, operating at frequencies above 100 Hz, should be considered line of sight sensors. Given the moderate complexity of the test conditions, it is anticipated that the observed effects are likely to be present in most attempts to localize outdoor sound sources.  相似文献

The insertion loss of standard acoustic blankets can be significantly improved at low frequencies by the addition of randomly placed mass inclusions to the poro-elastic layers. The improvement is much greater than that due to the mass effect alone. The mass inclusions act as resonant systems and so increase the structure impedance. This paper reports the results of experimental investigations into this phenomenon. Increases in insertion loss of 15 dB in the 100 Hz third octave band are reported.  相似文献

A magnetic field tunable, broadband, low-loss, negative refractive index metamaterial is fabricated using yttrium iron garnet (YIG) and a periodic array of copper wires. The tunability is demonstrated from 18 to 23 GHz under an applied magnetic field with a figure of merit of 4.2 GHz/kOe. The tuning bandwidth is measured to be 5 GHz compared to 0.9 GHz for fixed field. We measure a minimum insertion loss of 4 dB (or 5.7 dB/cm) at 22.3 GHz. The measured negative refractive index bandwidth is 0.9 GHz compared to 0.5 GHz calculated by the transfer function matrix theory and 1 GHz calculated by finite element simulation.  相似文献

To thoroughly explore the aerodynamic noise in order to achieve a more efficient engineering application for a vehicle intake system, the large eddy simulation and the finite element method were employed in numerical simulations, and the aeroacoustic characteristics were validated through the experimental data. In this research, the k-ε model was adopted to simulate the steady state fluid dynamic, and the static pressure loss was consistent with the bench test data, indicating the computational fluid dynamics model was valid. After acquiring the data from the steady state simulation, the fluctuating pressure of the inner wall was calculated based on the transient state calculation results from the large eddy simulation. Thereafter, the finite element method was used to determine the acoustic performance of the intake system. By comparing the experiment data, the noise reduction indicated that the intake system performed well at various frequencies, e.g. 320 Hz, 520 Hz and 770 Hz, but poorly at 140 Hz, 210 Hz, 420 Hz and 600 Hz. Finally, the far-field aerodynamic noise was calculated based on FW-H equation, and the output showed that the noise of each measuring point agreed well with the test results in trend. In particular, the inlet sound pressure spectrum almost fit the test data with the airflow of 300 m3/h, and several amplitude peaks appeared at 210 Hz, 420 Hz and 600 Hz, corresponding to the low-attenuation region of the noise reduction curve. Moreover, the specific frequencies were not shifted with the airflow changing. In conclusion, the numerical simulation method proves to be effective in calculating the aerodynamic noise accurately.  相似文献

An approximate approach is described, for obtaining the source quantities required for the calculation of structure-borne sound power from machines into supporting lightweight building elements. The approach is in two stages, which are based on existing international Standards for measurement. The first stage involves direct measurement of the source free velocity at each contact, to give the sum of the square velocities. The second stage is based on the reception plate method and yields the single equivalent blocked force, which approximates the sum of the square blocked forces. The applicability of the source data obtained has been investigated in a case study of a fan unit on a timber joist floor. The approach contains several significant simplifying assumptions and the uncertainties associated with them are considered. For the case considered, the power transmitted into the floor is estimated by the approximate method to within 5 dB of the true value, on average.  相似文献
