We say that a class 𝒫 of right modules over a fixed ring R is an epic class if it is closed under homomorphic images. For an arbitrary epic class 𝒫, we define a 𝒫-dimension of modules that measures how far modules are from the modules in the class 𝒫. For an epic class 𝒫 consisting of indecomposable modules, first we characterize rings whose modules have 𝒫-dimension. In fact, we show that every right R-module has 𝒫-dimension if and only if R is a semisimple Artinan ring. Then we study fully Hopfian modules with 𝒫-dimension. In particular, we show that a commutative ring R with 𝒫-dimension (resp. finite 𝒫-dimension) is either local or Noetherian (resp. Artinian). Finally, we show that Matm(R) is a right Köthe ring for some m if and only if every (left) right module is a direct sum of modules of 𝒫-dimension at most n for some n, if and only if R is a pure semisimple ring.  相似文献

The ideal topology on a integral domain R is the linear topology which has as a fundamental system of neighborhoods of 0 the nonzero ideals of R. We investigate the properties of the ideal topology on a Noetherian local domain (R, 𝔪), and we establish connections between the 𝔪-adic completion and the ideal completion. We give conditions under which the completion in the ideal topology is Noetherian, and we show that, unlike the 𝔪-adic completion, the completion in the ideal topology is not always Noetherian.  相似文献

Let R be a (commutative integral) domain, with K its quotient field and R its integral closure (in K). Let 𝒫 be the set of elements uK such that u is primitive over R; i.e., such that u is the root of a polynomial over R having a unit coe?cient. Then, 𝒫 is a ring (necessarily K) ? 𝒫 is closed under products ? R is a Prüfer domain. In general, 𝒫 is closed under powers. For u,v𝒫, necessary and su?cient conditions are given for u+v (resp., uv) to belong to 𝒫. Also, 𝒫 is used to characterize when R is a quasi-local integrally closed domain and when R is a pseudo-valuation domain. If R is quasi-local, each element of K is expressible as the sum of two (possibly equal) elements of 𝒫. The set of primitive elements is determined for lying-over pairs and for extensions of domains with the same sets of prime ideals. In this study of the 𝒫 construction, R and K are replaced, whenever possible, by an arbitrary commutative ring and its total quotient ring or, more generally, by any inclusion of commutative rings.  相似文献

Let 𝒫 n be the semigroup of all decreasing and order-preserving partial transformations of an n-element chain, and let E(𝒫 n ) be its set of idempotents. Among other results, asymptotic formulae for |𝒫 n | and |E(𝒫 n )|/|𝒫 n | are obtained. Similar results for 𝒫 n the (larger) semigroup of all order-preserving partial transformations of an n-element chain are also obtained.  相似文献

Abstract

Let (R, 𝔪) be a Noetherian local ring and let Ibe an R-ideal. Inspired by the work of Hübl and Huneke, we look for conditions that guarantee the Cohen-Macaulayness of the special fiber ring ? = ?/𝔪? of I, where ? denotes the Rees algebra of I. Our key idea is to require ‘good’ intersection properties as well as ‘few’ homogeneous generating relations in low degrees. In particular, if Iis a strongly Cohen-Macaulay R-ideal with G ?and the expected reduction number, we conclude that ? is always Cohen-Macaulay. We also obtain a characterization of the Cohen-Macaulayness of ?/K? for any 𝔪-primary ideal K. This result recovers a well-known criterion of Valabrega and Valla whenever K = I. Furthermore, we study the relationship between the Cohen-Macaulay property of the special fiber ring ? and the Cohen-Macaulay property of the Rees algebra ? and the associated graded ring 𝒢 of I. Finally, we focus on the integral closedness of 𝔪I. The latter question is motivated by the theory of evolutions.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In this paper we calculate presentations for some natural monoids of transformations on a chain X n  = {1 < 2 <?s < n}. First we consider 𝒪𝒟 n [𝒫𝒪𝒟 n ], the monoid of all full [partial] transformations on X n that preserve or reverse the order. Two other monoids of partial transformations on X n we look at are 𝒫𝒪𝒫 n and 𝒫𝒪? n –-the elements of the first preserve the orientation and the elements of the second preserve or reverse the orientation.  相似文献

If R is an integral domain, let be the class of torsion free completely decomposable R-modules of finite rank. Denote by the class of those torsion-free R-modules A such that A is a homomorphic image of some C ? , and let 𝒫 be the class of R-modules K such that K is a pure submodule of some C ? . Further, let Q and Q 𝒫 be the respective closures of and 𝒫 under quasi-isomorphism. In this article, it is shown that if R is a Prüfer domain, then Q  = Q 𝒫, and  = 𝒫 in the special case when R is h-local. Also, if R is an h-local Prüfer domain and if C ?  has a linearly ordered typeset, it is established that all pure submodules and all torsion-free homomorphic images of C are themselves completely decomposable. Finally, as an application of these results, we prove that if R is an h-local Prüfer domain, then  = Q  = Q 𝒫 = 𝒫 if and only if R is almost maximal.  相似文献

Let (R, 𝔪) be a commutative Noetherian local ring. It is known that R is Cohen–Macaulay if there exists either a nonzero finitely generated R-module of finite injective dimension or a nonzero Cohen–Macaulay R-module of finite projective dimension. In this article, we investigate the Gorenstein analogues of these facts.  相似文献

Let (R,𝔪) be a Noetherian local ring. In this paper, we give a new characterization for the universal catenaricity of R and the Cohen–Macaulayness of all its formal fibers, and we study the cofiniteness and annihilators of local cohomology modules.  相似文献

In this note, it is shown that the validity of the Auslander–Reiten conjecture for a given d-dimensional Cohen–Macaulay local ring R depends on its validity for all direct summands of d-th syzygy of R-modules of finite length, provided R is an isolated singularity. Based on this result, it is shown that under a mild assumption on the base ring R, satisfying the Auslander–Reiten conjecture behaves well under completion and reduction modulo regular elements. In addition, it will turn out that, if R is a commutative Noetherian ring and 𝒬 a finite acyclic quiver, then the Auslander–Reiten conjecture holds true for the path algebra R𝒬, whenever so does R. Using this result, examples of algebras satisfying the Auslander–Reiten conjecture are presented.  相似文献

Abstract

Let 𝒪 be a discrete valuation ring whose residue field 𝒪/𝔭 is finite and has odd characteristic. Let l be a positive integer. Set R = 𝒪/𝔭 l and let R = R[θ] be the ring obtained by adjoining to R a square root of a non-square unit. Consider the involution σ of R that fixes R elementwise and sends θ to ? θ. Let V be a free R-module of rank n > 0 endowed with a non-degenerate hermitian form ( , ) relative to σ. Let U n (R) be the subgroup of GL(V) that preserves ( , ). Let SU n (R) be the subgroup of all g ∈ U n (R) whose determinant is equal to one. Let Ψ be the Weil character of U n (R).

All irreducible constituents of Ψ are determined. An explicit character formula is given for each of them. In particular, all character degrees are computed. For n > 2 the corresponding results are also obtained for the restriction of Ψ to SU n (R).  相似文献

We study the connection between products of Sylow subgroups of a finite group G and the solvable residual of G. Let Π(𝒫) be a product of Sylow subgroups of G such that each prime divisor of |G| is represented exactly once in Π(𝒫). We prove that there exists a unique normal subgroup N of G which is minimal subject to the requirement Π(𝒫) N = G. Furthermore, N is perfect, and the product of all of these subgroups is the solvable residual of G. We also prove that the solvable residual of G is generated by all elements which arise from non-trivial factorizations of 1 G in such products of Sylow subgroups.  相似文献

In this article, we give new characterizations of the Buchsbaum and Cohen–Macaulay properties of the tangent cone gr 𝔪 (R), where (R, 𝔪) is a numerical semigroup ring of embedding dimension 3. In particular, we confirm the conjectures raised by Sapko on the Buchsbaumness of gr 𝔪 (R).  相似文献

Let R be a commutative ring with identity. The set 𝕀(R) of all ideals of R is a bounded semiring with respect to ordinary addition, multiplication and inclusion of ideals. The zero-divisor graph of 𝕀(R) is called the annihilating-ideal graph of R, denoted by 𝔸𝔾(R). We write 𝒢 for the set of graphs whose cores consist of only triangles. In this paper, the types of the graphs in 𝒢 that can be realized as either the zero-divisor graphs of bounded semirings or the annihilating-ideal graphs of commutative rings are determined. A necessary and sufficient condition for a ring R such that 𝔸𝔾(R) ∈ 𝒢 is given. Finally, a complete characterization in terms of quotients of polynomial rings is established for finite rings R with 𝔸𝔾(R) ∈ 𝒢. Also, a connection between finite rings and their corresponding graphs is realized.  相似文献

Abstract

This paper obtains a structure theorem for a finitely generated lattice module 𝔐 over a Noetherian principal element domain 𝔏,with a slightly stronger theorem if the lattice module satisfies a hypothesis valid over principal ideal domains. Additionally,we obtain a new characterization of Dedekind lattice domains as multiplicative lattice domains over which there exists a non torsion, principally generated,Noetherian join-principal-element lattice module.  相似文献

Let R be an associative ring with identity. For a given class 𝒮 of finitely presented left (respectively right) R-modules containing R, we present a complete characterization of 𝒮-pure injective modules and 𝒮-pure flat modules. Consider that 𝒮 is a class of (R,R)-bimodules containing R with the following property: every element of 𝒮 is a finitely presented left and right R-module. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for 𝒮 to have Lazard’s theorem, and then we present our desired Lazard’s theorem.  相似文献
