Cleft Extensions of Hopf Algebroids

The notions of a cleft extension and a cross product with a Hopf algebroid are introduced and studied. In particular it is shown that an extension (with a Hopf algebroid ℋ = (ℋ _L , ℋ _R )) is cleft if and only if it is ℋ _R -Galois and has a normal basis property relative to the base ring L of ℋ _L . Cleft extensions are identified as crossed products with invertible cocycles. The relationship between the equivalence classes of crossed products and gauge transformations is established. Strong connections in cleft extensions are classified and sufficient conditions are derived for the Chern–Galois characters to be independent on the choice of strong connections. The results concerning cleft extensions and crossed product are then extended to the case of weak cleft extensions of Hopf algebroids hereby defined. Depth Two,Normality, and a Trace Ideal Condition for Frobenius Extensions

A ring extension A ‖ B is depth two if its tensor-square satisfies a projectivity condition w.r.t. the bimodules _A A _B and _B A _A . In this case the structures (A ? _B A) ^B and End  _B A _B are bialgebroids over the centralizer C _A (B) and there is a certain Galois theory associated to the extension and its endomorphism ring. We specialize the notion of depth two to induced representations of semisimple algebras and character theory of finite groups. We show that depth two subgroups over the complex numbers are normal subgroups. As a converse, we observe that normal Hopf subalgebras over a field are depth two extensions. A generalized Miyashita–Ulbrich action on the centralizer of a ring extension is introduced, and applied to a study of depth two and separable extensions, which yields new characterizations of separable and H-separable extensions. With a view to the problem of when separable extensions are Frobenius, we supply a trace ideal condition for when a ring extension is Frobenius.     

Projective Modules Over Frobenius Algebras and Hopf Comodule Algebras

This note presents some results on projective modules and the Grothendieck groups K ₀ and G ₀ for Frobenius algebras and for certain Hopf Galois extensions. Our principal technical tools are the Higman trace for Frobenius algebras and a product formula for Hattori-Stallings ranks of projectives over Hopf Galois extensions.     

Morita context of weak Hopf algebras

Let H be a finite-dimensional weak Hopf algebra and A a left H-module algebra with its invariant subalgebra A~H.We prove that the smash product A#H is an A-ring with a grouplike character, and give a criterion for A#H to be Frobenius over A. Using the theory of A-rings, we mainly construct a Morita context connecting the smash product A#H and the invariant subalgebra A~H , which generalizes the corresponding results obtained by Cohen, Fischman and Montgomery.     

Extensions of Hopf Algebras and Lie Bialgebras

Let , be finite-dimensional Lie algebras over a field of characteristic zero. Regard and , the dual Lie coalgebra of , as Lie bialgebras with zero cobracket and zero bracket, respectively. Suppose that a matched pair of Lie bialgebras is given, which has structure maps . Then it induces a matched pair of Hopf algebras, where is the universal envelope of and is the Hopf dual of . We show that the group of cleft Hopf algebra extensions associated with is naturally isomorphic to the group of Lie bialgebra extensions associated with . An exact sequence involving either of these groups is obtained, which is a variation of the exact sequence due to G.I. Kac. If , there follows a bijection between the set of all cleft Hopf algebra extensions of by and the set of all Lie bialgebra extensions of by .

Ore Extensions of Hopf Algebras

In this paper, Ore extensions in the class of Hopf algebras are studied. The classification theorem enables one to describe the Hopf--Ore extensions for the group algebras, for the algebras and , and for the quantum ax + b group.     

On Trivial Extensions of 2-Fundamental Algebras #

There are considered trivial extensions of minimal 2-fundamental algebras. It is shown that if the Auslander–Reiten quiver Γ _A of a minimal 2-fundamental algebra A contains a starting component or an ending component which is not generalized standard, then the Auslander–Reiten quiver Γ _T(A) of the trivial extension T(A) of A contains also a component that is not a generalized standard.     

2-Groups, trialgebras and their Hopf categories of representations

A strict 2-group is a 2-category with one object in which all morphisms and all 2-morphisms have inverses. 2-Groups have been studied in the context of homotopy theory, higher gauge theory and Topological Quantum Field Theory (TQFT). In the present article, we develop the notions of trialgebra and cotrialgebra, generalizations of Hopf algebras with two multiplications and one comultiplication or vice versa, and the notion of Hopf categories, generalizations of monoidal categories with an additional functorial comultiplication. We show that each strict 2-group has a ‘group algebra’ which is a cocommutative trialgebra, and that each strict finite 2-group has a ‘function algebra’ which is a commutative cotrialgebra. Each such commutative cotrialgebra gives rise to a symmetric Hopf category of corepresentations. In the semisimple case, this Hopf category is a 2-vector space according to Kapranov and Voevodsky. We also show that strict compact topological 2-groups are characterized by their C^*-cotrialgebras of ‘complex-valued functions’, generalizing the Gel'fand representation, and that commutative cotrialgebras are characterized by their symmetric Hopf categories of corepresentations, generalizing Tannaka-Kre?ˇn reconstruction. Technically, all these results are obtained using ideas from functorial semantics, by studying models of the essentially algebraic theory of categories in various base categories of familiar algebraic structures and the functors that describe the relationships between them.

Extensions of homogeneous polynomials on c 0(l 2 i )

We show that a 2-homogeneous polynomial on the complex Banach space c ₀ l ₂ ⁱ ) is norm attaining if and only if it is finite (i.e, depends only on finite coordinates). As the consequence, we show that there exists a unique norm-preserving extension for norm-attaining 2-homogeneous polynomials on c ₀(l ₂ ⁱ ).
