We prove that the non-finitely based system of polynomial identitiesover an arbitrary field of characteristic 2 given by Gupta and Krasilnikov in [A non-finitelybased system of polynomial identities which contains the identityx6 = 0, Quart. J. Math. 53 (2002), 173–183] can, by aslight modification, be turned into an independent system. Thishas important consequences for algorithmic problems in algebra:there is a locally finite-dimensional variety of associativealgebras (and, in particular, a locally finite variety of rings)that has an undecidable equational theory. For such a variety, the uniform word problem is unsolvable, and yet the word problemis recursively solvable for each individual finitely presentedalgebra (ring) in that variety.  相似文献

Nagata gave a fundamental sufficient condition on group actions on finitely generated commutative algebras for finite generation of the subalgebra of invariants. In this paper we consider groups acting on noncommutative algebras over a field of characteristic zero. We characterize all the T-ideals of the free associative algebra such that the algebra of invariants in the corresponding relatively free algebra is finitely generated for any group action from the class of Nagata. In particular, in the case of unitary algebras this condition is equivalent to the nilpotency of the algebra in Lie sense. As a consequence we extend the Hilbert-Nagata theorem on finite generation of the algebra of invariants to any finitely generated associative algebra which is Lie nilpotent. We also prove that the Hilbert series of the algebra of invariants of a group acting on a relatively free algebra with a non-matrix polynomial identity is rational, if the action satisfies the condition of Nagata.

A bigroup is a pair (H, π) consisting of a group H and an idempotent endomorphism π of H. One can consider π as a unary operation on H so a bigroup is a universal algebra. The aim of our paper is to construct the first example of a just non-finitely based variety of bigroups i.e. a variety which is non-finitely based but all whose proper subvarieties are finitely based. There is a close similarity between varieties of bigroups and varieties of groups so we hope that our result could help to construct a just non-finitely based variety of groups.

We consider associative PI-algebras over a field of characteristic zero. We study the asymptotic behavior of the sequence of multiplicities of the cocharacters for some significant classes of algebras. We also give a characterization of finitely generated algebras for which this behavior is linear or quadratic.

We consider associative PI-algebras over an algebraically closed field of zero characteristic graded by a finite abelian group G. It is proved that in this case the ideal of graded identities of a G-graded finitely generated PI-algebra coincides with the ideal of graded identities of some finite dimensional G-graded algebra. This implies that the ideal of G-graded identities of any (not necessary finitely generated) G-graded PI-algebra coincides with the ideal of G-graded identities of the Grassmann envelope of a finite dimensional (G × ?2)-graded algebra, and is finitely generated as GT-ideal. Similar results take place for ideals of identities with automorphisms.  相似文献

We study metabelian alternative (in particular, associative) algebras over a field of characteristic 0. We construct additive bases of the free algebras of mentioned varieties, describe some centers of these algebras, compute the values of the sequence of codimensions of corresponding T-ideals, and find unitarily irreducible components of the decomposition of mentioned varieties into a union and their bases of identities. In particular, we find a basis of identities for the metabelian alternative Grassmann algebra. We prove that the free algebra of a variety that is generated by the metabelian alternative Grassmann algebra possesses the zero associative center.  相似文献

The paper is a review of recent results on T-spaces and their applications. It is proved that T-spaces over a field of zero characteristic from a large class are finitely based; this implies the positive solution of the local Specht problem. If the characteristic of the base field is positive, then similar assertions do not hold. The negative solution of Maltsev's problem on the existence of a finite basis of all identities of an associative ring is given. __________ Translated from Sovremennaya Matematika i Ee Prilozheniya (Contemporary Mathematics and Its Applications), Vol. 18, Algebra, 2004.  相似文献

We study associative algebras with unity of polynomial codimension growth. For any fixed degree k we construct associative algebras whose codimension sequence has the largest and the smallest possible polynomial growth of degree k. We also explicitly describe the identities and the exponential generating functions of these algebras. The first and second authors were partially supported by MIUR of Italy. Suppose a finite dimensional semisimple Lie algebra  $\mathfrak g$ acts by derivations on a finite dimensional associative or Lie algebra A over a field of characteristic 0. We prove the $\mathfrak g$ -invariant analogs of Wedderburn—Mal’cev and Levi theorems, and the analog of Amitsur’s conjecture on asymptotic behavior for codimensions of polynomial identities with derivations of A. It turns out that for associative algebras the differential PI-exponent coincides with the ordinary one. Also we prove the analog of Amitsur’s conjecture for finite dimensional associative algebras with an action of a reductive affine algebraic group by automorphisms and anti-automorphisms or graded by an arbitrary Abelian group. In addition, we provide criteria for G-, H- and graded simplicity in terms of codimensions.  相似文献

Let be the sequence of codimension growth for a variety V of associative algebras. We study the complexity function , which is the exponential generating function for the sequence of codimensions. Earlier, the complexity functions were used to study varieties of Lie algebras. The objective of the note is to start the systematic investigation of complexity functions in the associative case. These functions turn out to be a useful tool to study the growth of varieties over a field of arbitrary characteristic. In the present note, the Schreier formula for the complexity functions of one-sided ideals of a free associative algebra is found. This formula is applied to the study of products of T-ideals. An exact formula is obtained for the complexity function of the variety U c of associative algebras generated by the algebra of upper triangular matrices, and it is proved that the function is a quasi-polynomial. The complexity functions for proper identities are investigated. The results for the complexity functions are applied to study the asymptotics of codimension growth. Analogies between the complexity functions of varieties and the Hilbert--Poincaré series of finitely generated algebras are traced.  相似文献

Suppose that F is a field of prime characteristic p and V p is the variety of associative algebras over F defined by the identities [[x, y], z] = 0 and x p = 0 if p > 2 and by the identities [[x, y], z] = 0 and x 4 = 0 if p = 2 (here [x, y] = xy ? yx). As is known, the free algebras of countable rank of the varieties V p contain non-finitely generated T-spaces. We prove that the varieties V p are minimal with respect to this property.  相似文献

Isomorphism classes and automorphism groups of algebras of Weyl type   总被引:6,自引:0,他引:6
In one of our recent papers, the associative and the Lie algebras of Weyl typeA[D]=A⊗F[D] were defined and studied, whereA is a commutative associative algebra with an identity element over a field F of any characteristic, and F[D] is the polynomial algebra of a commutative derivation subalgebraD ofA. In the present paper, a class of the above associative and Lie algebrasA[D] with F being a field of characteristic 0,D consisting of locally finite but not locally nilpotent derivations ofA, are studied. The isomorphism classes and automorphism groups of these associative and Lie algebras are determined  相似文献

We consider polynomial identities of group algebras over a field F of characteristic zero. We prove that any PI group algebra satisfies the same identities as a matrix algebra M n (F ), where n is the maximal degree of finite dimensional representations of the group over algebraic extensions of F.  相似文献

Aichinger et al. (2011) have proved that every finite algebra with a cube-term (equivalently, with a parallelogram-term; equivalently, having few subpowers) is finitely related. Thus finite algebras with cube terms are inherently finitely related??every expansion of the algebra by adding more operations is finitely related. In this paper, we show that conversely, if A is a finite idempotent algebra and every idempotent expansion of A is finitely related, then A has a cube-term. We present further characterizations of the class of finite idempotent algebras having cube-terms, one of which yields, for idempotent algebras with finitely many basic operations and a fixed finite universe A, a polynomial-time algorithm for determining if the algebra has a cube-term. We also determine the maximal non-finitely related idempotent clones over A. The number of these clones is finite.  相似文献

Consider the sequence c n (V) of codimensions of a variety V of Poisson algebras. We show that the growth of every variety V of Poisson algebras over an arbitrary field is either bounded by a polynomial or at least exponential. Furthermore, if the growth of V is polynomial then there is a polynomial R(x) with rational coefficients such that c n (V) = R(n) for all sufficiently large n. We present lower and upper bounds for the polynomials R(x) of an arbitrary fixed degree. We also show that the varieties of Poisson algebras of polynomial growth are finitely based in characteristic zero.  相似文献

We develop a new method to deal with the Cancellation Conjecture of Zariski in different environments. We prove the conjecture for free associative algebras of rank two. We also produce a new proof of the conjecture for polynomial algebras of rank two over fields of zero characteristic.

Let L be a Lie algebra, nilpotent of class 2, over an infinite field K, and suppose that the centre C of L is one dimensional; such Lie algebras are called Heisenberg algebras. Let ρ:L→hom KV be a finite dimensional representation of the Heisenberg algebra L such that ρ(C) contains non-singular linear transformations of V, and denote l(ρ) the ideal of identities for the representation ρ. We prove that the ideals of identities of representations containing I(ρ) and generated by multilinear polynomials satisfy the ACC. Let sl 2(L) be the Lie algebra of the traceless 2×2 matrices over K, and suppose the characteristic of K equals 2. As a corollary we obtain that the ideals of identities of representations of Lie algebras containing that of the regular representation of sl 2(K) and generated by multilinear polynomials, are finitely based. In addition we show that one cannot simply dispense with the condition of multilinearity. Namely, we show that the ACC is violated for the ideals of representations of Lie algebras (over an infinite field of characteristic 2) that contain the identities of the regular representation of sl 2(K).  相似文献

We introduce degree n Sabinin algebras, which are defined by the polynomial identities up to degree n in a Sabinin algebra. Degree 4 Sabinin algebras can be characterized by the polynomial identities satisfied by the commutator, associator, and two quaternators in the free nonassociative algebra. We consider these operations in a free power associative algebra and show that one of the quaternators is redundant. The resulting algebras provide the natural structure on the tangent space at the identity element of an analytic loop for which all local loops satisfy monoassociativity, a 2 a ≡ aa 2. These algebras are the next step beyond Lie, Malcev, and Bol algebras. We also present an identity of degree 5 which is satisfied by these three operations but which is not implied by the identities of lower degree.  相似文献

We study the growth of the codimensions of a *-superalgebra over a field of characteristic zero. We classify the ideals of identities of finite dimensional algebras whose corresponding codimensions are of almost polynomial growth. It turns out that these are the ideals of identities of two algebras with distinct involutions and gradings. Along the way, we also classify the finite dimensional simple *-superalgebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero.  相似文献

A criterion for polynomial growth of varieties of Poisson algebras is stated in terms of Young diagrams for fields of characteristic zero. We construct a variety of Poisson algebras with almost polynomial growth. It is proved that for the case of a ground field of arbitrary characteristic other than two, there are no varieties of Poisson algebras whose growth would be intermediate between polynomial and exponential. Let V be a variety of Poisson algebras over an arbitrary field whose ideal of identities contains identities {{x 1, y 1}, {x 2, y 2}, . . . , {x m , y m }} = 0 and {x 1, y 1} · {x 2, y 2} · . . . · {x m , y m } = 0, for some m. It is shown that the exponent of V exists and is an integer. For the case of a ground field of characteristic zero, we give growth estimates for multilinear spaces of a special form in varieties of Poisson algebras. Also equivalent conditions are specified for such spaces to have polynomial growth.  相似文献
