We introduce the notions of “t-extending modules,” and “t-Baer modules,” which are generalizations of extending modules. The second notion is also a generalization of nonsingular Baer modules. We show that a homomorphic image (hence a direct summand) of a t-extending module and a direct summand of a t-Baer module inherits the property. It is shown that a module M is t-extending if and only if M is t-Baer and t-cononsingular. The rings for which every free right module is t-extending are called right Σ-t-extending. The class of right Σ-t-extending rings properly contains the class of right Σ-extending rings. Among other equivalent conditions for such rings, it is shown that a ring R is right Σ-t-extending, if and only if, every right R-module is t-extending, if and only if, every right R-module is t-Baer, if and only if, every nonsingular right R-module is projective. Moreover, it is proved that for a ring R, every free right R-module is t-Baer if and only if Z 2(R R ) is a direct summand of R and every submodule of a direct product of nonsingular projective R-modules is projective.  相似文献

Ramamurthi proved that weak regularity is equivalent to regularity and biregularity for left Artinian rings. We observe this result under a generalized condition. For a ring R satisfying the ACC on right annihilators, we actually prove that if R is left weakly regular then R is biregular, and that R is left weakly regular if and only if R is a direct sum of a finite number of simple rings. Next we study maximality of strongly prime ideals, showing that a reduced ring R is weakly regular if and only if R is left weakly regular if and only if R is left weakly π-regular if and only if every strongly prime ideal of R is maximal.  相似文献

A right module M over a ring R is said to be retractable if Hom R (M, N) ≠ 0 for each nonzero submodule N of M. We show that M ? R RG is a retractable RG-module if and only if M R is retractable for every finite group G. The ring R is (finitely) mod-retractable if every (finitely generated) right R-module is retractable. Some comparisons between max rings, semiartinian rings, perfect rings, noetherian rings, nonsingular rings, and mod-retractable rings are investigated. In particular, we prove ring-theoretical criteria of right mod-retractability for classes of all commutative, left perfect, and right noetherian rings.  相似文献

A ring R is said to be von Newmann local (VNL) if for any a ∈ R, either a or 1 ?a is (von Neumann) regular. The class of VNL rings lies properly between exchange rings and (von Neumann) regular rings. We characterize abelian VNL rings. We also characterize and classify arbitrary VNL rings without an infinite set of orthogonal idempotents; and also the VNL rings having a primitive idempotent e such that eRe is not a division ring. We prove that a semiperfect ring R is VNL if and only if for any right uni-modular row (a 1, a 2) ∈ R 2, one of the a i 's is regular in R. Formal triangular matrix rings that are VNL are also characterized. As a corollary, it is shown that an upper triangular matrix ring T n (R) is VNL if and only if n = 2 or 3 and R is a division ring.  相似文献

It is well known from Osofsky’s work that the injective hull E(RR) of a ring R need not have a ring structure compatible with its R-module scalar multiplication. A closely related question is: if E(RR) has a ring structure and its multiplication extends its R-module scalar multiplication, must the ring structure be unique? In this paper, we utilize the properties of Morita duality to explicitly describe an injective hull of a ring R with R=Q(R) (where Q(R) is the maximal right ring of quotients of R) such that every injective hull of RR has (possibly infinitely many) distinct compatible ring structures which are mutually ring isomorphic and quasi-Frobenius. Further, these rings have the property that the ring structures for E(RR) also are ring structures on E(RR).  相似文献

Let R be a ring. M is said to be a minannihilator left R-module if r M l R (I) = IM for any simple right ideal I of R. A right R-module N is called simple-flat if Nl R (I) = l N (I) for any simple right ideal I of R. R is said to be a left simple-Baer (resp., left simple-coherent) ring if the left annihilator of every simple right ideal is a direct summand of R R (resp., finitely generated). We first obtain some properties of minannihilator and simple-flat modules. Then we characterize simple-coherent rings, simple-Baer rings, and universally mininjective rings using minannihilator and simple-flat modules.  相似文献

It is proved that a ring R is right perfect if and only if it is Σ-cotorsion as a right module over itself. Several other conditions are shown to be equivalent. For example, that every pure submodule of a free right R-module is strongly pure-essential in a direct summand, or that the countable direct sum of the cotorsion envelope of RR is cotorsion. If CR is a flat Σ-cotorsion module, then CR admits a decomposition into a direct sum of indecomposable modules with a local endomorphism ring. The Jacobson radical J(S) of the endomorphism ring S=EndRC is characterized as the maximum ideal that acts locally T-nilpotently on CR. If R is semilocal and C=C(R), then the radical consists of those endomorphisms whose image is contained in CJ.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

A ring R is called an n-clean (resp. Σ-clean) ring if every element in R is n-clean (resp. Σ-clean). Clean rings are 1-clean and hence are Σ-clean. An example shows that there exists a 2-clean ring that is not clean. This shows that Σ-clean rings are a proper generalization of clean rings. The group ring ?(p) G with G a cyclic group of order 3 is proved to be Σ-clean. The m× m matrix ring M m (R) over an n-clean ring is n-clean, and the m×m (m>1) matrix ring M m (R) over any ring is Σ-clean. Additionally, rings satisfying a weakly unit 1-stable range were introduced. Rings satisfying weakly unit 1-stable range are left-right symmetric and are generalizations of abelian π-regular rings, abelian clean rings, and rings satisfying unit 1-stable range. A ring R satisfies a weakly unit 1-stable range if and only if whenever a 1 R + ˙˙˙ a m R = dR, with m ≥ 2, a 1,…, a m, d ∈ R, there exist u 1 ∈ U(R) and u 2,…, u m ∈ W(R) such that a 1 u 1 + ? a m u m = Rd.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove that R is a two-sided Artinian ring and J is a right annihilator ideal if and only if (i) for any nonzero right module, there is a nonzero linear map from it to a projective module; (ii) every submodule of RR is not a radical module for some right coherent rings. We call a ring a right X ring if Homa(M, R) = 0 for any right module M implies that M = 0. We can prove some left Goldie and right X rings are right Artinian rings. Moreover we characterize semisimple rings by using X rings. A famous Faith‘s conjecture is whether a semipimary PF ring is a QF ring. Similarly we study the relationship between X rings and QF and get many interesting results.  相似文献

In an Artinian ring R every element of R can be expressed as the sum of two units if and only if R/J(R) does not contain a summand isomorphic to the field with two elements. This result is used to describe those finite rings R for which Γ(R) contains a Hamiltonian cycle where Γ(R) is the (simple) graph defined on the elements of R with an edge between vertices r and s if and only if r - s is invertible. It is also shown that for an Artinian ring R the number of connected components of the graph Γ(R) is a power of 2.   相似文献

A ring R is called left morphic if for every aR. A left and right morphic ring is called a morphic ring. If Mn(R) is morphic for all n≥1 then R is called a strongly morphic ring. A well-known result of Erlich says that a ring R is unit regular iff it is both (von Neumann) regular and left morphic. A new connection between morphic rings and unit regular rings is proved here: a ring R is unit regular iff R[x]/(xn) is strongly morphic for all n≥1 iff R[x]/(x2) is morphic. Various new families of left morphic or strongly morphic rings are constructed as extensions of unit regular rings and of principal ideal domains. This places some known examples in a broader context and answers some existing questions.  相似文献

We characterize right Noetherian rings over which all simple modules are almost injective. It is proved that R is such a ring, if and only if, the complements of semisimple submodules of every R-module M are direct summands of M, if and only if, R is a finite direct sum of right ideals Ir, where Ir is either a Noetherian V-module with zero socle, or a simple module, or an injective module of length 2. A commutative Noetherian ring for which all simple modules are almost injective is precisely a finite direct product of rings Ri, where Ri is either a field or a quasi-Frobenius ring of length 2. We show that for commutative rings whose all simple modules are almost injective, the properties of Kasch, (semi)perfect, semilocal, quasi-Frobenius, Artinian, and Noetherian coincide.  相似文献

Let R be a ring. A module MR is said to be GC2 if for any N≤ M with N? M, N is a direct summand of M. In this article, we give some characterizations and properties of GC2 modules and their endomorphism rings, and many results on C 2 modules and GC2 rings are generalized to GC2 modules.  相似文献

We define and investigate t-semisimple modules as a generalization of semisimple modules. A module M is called t-semisimple if every submodule N contains a direct summand K of M such that K is t-essential in N. T-semisimple modules are Morita invariant and they form a strict subclass of t-extending modules. Many equivalent conditions for a module M to be t-semisimple are found. Accordingly, M is t-semisiple, if and only if, M = Z 2(M) ⊕ S(M) (where Z 2(M) is the Goldie torsion submodule and S(M) is the sum of nonsingular simple submodules). A ring R is called right t-semisimple if R R is t-semisimple. Various characterizations of right t-semisimple rings are given. For some types of rings, conditions equivalent to being t-semisimple are found, and this property is investigated in terms of chain conditions.  相似文献

We introduce and study the notion of wd-Rickart modules (i.e. modules M such that for every nonzero endomorphism ? of M, the image of ? contains a nonzero direct summand of M). We show that the class of rings R for which every right R-module is wd-Rickart is exactly that of right semi-artinian right V-rings. We prove that a module M is dual Baer if and only if M is wd-Rickart and M has the strong summand sum property. Several structure results for some classes of wd-Rickart modules and dual Baer modules are provided. Some relevant counterexamples are indicated.  相似文献

Abstract

An ideal A of a ring R is called a good ideal if the coset product r 1 r 2 + A of any two cosets r 1 + A and r 2 + A of A in the factor ring R/A equals their set product (r 1 + A) º (r 2 + A): = {(r 1 + a)(r 2 + a 2): a 1, a 2 ε A}. Good ideals were introduced in [3] to give a characterization of regular right duo rings. We characterize the good ideals of blocked triangular matrix rings over commutative principal ideal rings and show that the condition A º A = A is sufficient for A to be a good ideal in this class of matrix rings, none of which are right duo. It is not known whether good ideals in a base ring carries over to good ideals in complete matrix rings over the base ring. Our characterization shows that this phenomenon occurs indeed for complete matrix rings of certain sizes if the base ring is a blocked triangular matrix ring over a commutative principal ideal ring.  相似文献

For an endomorphism α of a ring R, we introduce the notion of an α-Armendariz ring to investigate the relative Armendariz properties. This concept extends the class of Armendariz rings and gives us an opportunity to study Armendariz rings in a general setting. It is obvious that every Armendariz ring is an α-Armendariz ring, but we shall give an example to show that there exists a right α-Armendariz ring which is not Armendariz. A number of properties of this version are established. It is shown that if I is a reduced ideal of a ring R such that R/I is a right α-Armendariz ring, then R is right α-Armendariz. For an endomorphism α of a ring R, we show that R is right α-Armendariz if and only if R[x] is right α-Armendariz. Moreover, a weak form of α-Armendariz rings is considered in the last section. We show that in general weak α-Armendariz rings need not be α-Armendariz.  相似文献

In this article, we call a ring R right generalized semiregular if for any a ∈ R there exist two left ideals P, L of R such that lr(a) = PL, where P ? Ra and Ra ∩ L is small in R. The class of generalized semiregular rings contains all semiregular rings and all AP-injective rings. Some properties of these rings are studied and some results about semiregular rings and AP-injective rings are extended. In addition, we call a ring R semi-π-regular if for any a ∈ R there exist a positive integer n and e 2 = e ∈ a n R such that (1 ? e)a n  ∈ J(R), the Jacobson radical of R. It is shown that a ring R is semi-π-regular if and only if R/J(R) is π-regular and idempotents can be lifted modulo J(R).  相似文献
