Abstract We prove that under conditions of regularity the maximal left quotient ring of a corner of a ring is the corner of the maximal left quotient ring. We show that if R and S are two non-unital Morita equivalent rings then their maximal left quotient rings are not necessarily Morita equivalent. This situation contrasts with the unital case. However we prove that the ideals generated by two Morita equivalent idempotent rings inside their own maximal left quotient rings are Morita equivalent. 相似文献

We classify the maximal subrings of the ring of n×n matrices over a finite field, and show that these subrings may be divided into three types. We also describe all of the maximal subrings of a finite semisimple ring, and categorize them into two classes. Let k be a commutative ring of coefficients and G be a finite group. Does there exist a flat k G-module which is projective as a k-module but not as a k G-module? We relate this question to the question of existence of a k-module which is flat and periodic but not projective. For either question to have a positive answer, it is at least necessary to have |k| ≥ ?ω. There can be no such example if k is Noetherian of finite Krull dimension, or if k is perfect. 相似文献

This paper is to provide some new generalizations of the Pick Theorem. We first derive
a point-set version of the Pick Theorem for an arbitrary bounded lattice polyhedron. Then, we
use the idea of a weight function of [2] to obtain a weighted version. Other Pick type theorems
known to the author for the integral lattice
Z2 are reduced to some special cases of this generalization.
Finally, using an idea of Ehrhart [6] and the Pick Theorem, we give a direct proof of
the reciprocity law for Dedekind sums. The ideas and methods presented here may be pushed to

By testing quotient rings, we give another viewpoint concerning the relationship between PI and Goldie properties, etc., and f-radical extensions of rings. The main result proved here is as follows: Let R be a prime algebra without nonzero nil right ideals. Suppose that R is f-radical over a subalgebra A, where f(X 1,…, X t ) is a multilinear polynomial, not an identity for p × p matrices in case char R = p > 0. Suppose that f is not power-central valued in R. Then the maximal ring of right (left) quotients of A coincides with that of R. Moreover, R is right Goldie if and only if A is. 相似文献

Many results on going-down domains and divided domains are generalized to the context of rings with von Neumann regular total quotient rings. A (commutative unital) ring R is called regular divided if each P ∈ Spec(R)?(Max(R) ∩ Min(R)) is comparable with each principal regular ideal of R. Among rings having von Neumann regular total quotient rings, the regular divided rings are the pullbacks K× K/P D where K is von Neumann regular, P ∈ Spec(K) and D is a divided domain. Any regular divided ring (for instance, regular comparable ring) with a von Neumann regular total quotient ring is a weak Baer going-down ring. If R is a weak Baer going-down ring and T is an extension ring with a von Neumann regular total quotient ring such that no regular element of R becomes a zero-divisor in T, then R ? T satisfies going-down. If R is a weak Baer ring and P ∈ Spec(R), then R + PR (P) is a going-down ring if and only if R/P and R P are going-down rings. It is a key property of bialgebras that their modules have a natural tensor product. More precisely, a bialgebra over k can be characterized as an algebra H whose category of modules is a monoidal category in such a way that the underlying functor to the category of k-vector spaces is monoidal (i.e. preserves tensor products in a coherent way). In the present paper we study a class of algebras whose module categories are also monoidal categories; however, the underlying functor to the category of k-vector spaces fails to be monoidal. Instead, there is a suitable underlying functor to the category of B-bimodules over a k-algebra B which is monoidal with respect to the tensor product over B. In other words, we study algebras L such that for two L-modules V and W there is a natural tensor product, which is the tensor product VBW over another k-algebra B, equipped with an L-module structure defined via some kind of comultiplication of L. We show that this property is characteristic for ×B-bialgebras as studied by Sweedler (for commutative B) and Takeuchi. Our motivating example arises when H is a Hopf algebra and A an H-Galois extension of B. In this situation, one can construct an algebra L:=L(A,H), which was previously shown to be a Hopf algebra if B=k. We show that there is a structure theorem for relative Hopf bimodules in the form of a category equivalence
. The category on the left hand side has a natural structure of monoidal category (with the tensor product over A) which induces the structure of a monoidal category on the right hand side. The ×B-bialgebra structure of L that corresponds to this monoidal structure generalizes the Hopf algebra structure on L(A,H) known for B=k. We prove several other structure theorems involving L=L(A,H) in the form of category equivalences
