We introduce the k-strong Lefschetz property and the k-weak Lefschetz property for graded Artinian K-algebras, which are generalizations of the Lefschetz properties. The main results are: 1. Let I be an ideal of R = K[x 1, x 2,…, x n ] whose quotient ring R/I has the n-SLP. Suppose that all kth differences of the Hilbert function of R/I are quasi-symmetric. Then the generic initial ideal of I is the unique almost revlex ideal with the same Hilbert function as R/I. 2. We give a sharp upper bound on the graded Betti numbers of Artinian K-algebras with the k-WLP and a fixed Hilbert function. 相似文献

Consider a complete intersection I of type (d 1,…, d r ) in a polynomial ring over a field of characteristic 0. We study the graded system of ideals {gin(I n )} n obtained by taking the reverse lexicographic generic initial ideals of the powers of I and describe its asymptotic behavior. This behavior is nicely captured by the limiting shape which is shown to depend only on the type of the complete intersection. 相似文献

Let G be a finite graph on the vertex set [d] = {1,…, d} with the edges e 1,…, e n and K[t] = K[t 1,…, t d ] the polynomial ring in d variables over a field K. The edge ring of G is the semigroup ring K[G] which is generated by those monomials t e = t i t j such that e = {i, j} is an edge of G. Let K[x] = K[x 1,…, x n ] be the polynomial ring in n variables over K, and define the surjective homomorphism π: K[x] → K[G] by setting π(x i ) = t e i for i = 1,…, n. The toric ideal I G of G is the kernel of π. It will be proved that, given integers f and d with 6 ≤ f ≤ d, there exists a finite connected nonbipartite graph G on [d] together with a reverse lexicographic order <rev on K[x] and a lexicographic order <lex on K[x] such that (i) K[G] is normal with Krull-dim K[G] = d, (ii) depth K[x]/in<rev (I G ) = f and K[x]/in<lex (I G ) is Cohen–Macaulay, where in<rev (I G ) (resp., in<lex (I G )) is the initial ideal of I G with respect to <rev (resp., <lex) and where depth K[x]/in<rev (I G ) is the depth of K[x]/in<rev (I G ). 相似文献

Generic initial ideals of Artinian ideals having Lefschetz properties or the strong Stanley property
For a standard Artinian k-algebra A=R/I, we give equivalent conditions for A to have the weak (or strong) Lefschetz property or the strong Stanley property in terms of the minimal system of generators of gin(I). Using the equivalent condition for the weak Lefschetz property, we show that some graded Betti numbers of gin(I) are determined just by the Hilbert function of I if A has the weak Lefschetz property. Furthermore, for the case that A is a standard Artinian k-algebra of codimension 3, we show that every graded Betti number of gin(I) is determined by the graded Betti numbers of I if A has the weak Lefschetz property. And if A has the strong Lefschetz (respectively Stanley) property, then we show that the minimal system of generators of gin(I) is determined by the graded Betti numbers (respectively by the Hilbert function) of I. 相似文献

Let I be a complete m-primary ideal of a regular local ring (R, m) of dimension d ≥ 2. In the case of dimension two, the beautiful theory developed by Zariski implies that I factors uniquely as a product of powers of simple complete ideals and each of the simple complete factors of I has a unique Rees valuation. In the higher dimensional case, a simple complete ideal of R often has more than one Rees valuation, and a complete m-primary ideal I may have finitely many or infinitely many base points. For the ideals having finitely many base points Lipman proves a unique factorization involving special *-simple complete ideals and possibly negative exponents of the factors. Let T be an infinitely near point to R with dim R = dim T and R/m = T/m T . We prove that the special *-simple complete ideal P RT has a unique Rees valuation if and only if either dim R = 2 or there is no change of direction in the unique finite sequence of local quadratic transformations from R to T. We also examine conditions for a complete ideal to be projectively full. 相似文献

Abstract Eisenbud et al. proved a number of results regarding Gröbner bases and initial ideals of those ideals J in the free associative algebra K ?X 1,…, X n ? which contain the commutator ideal. We prove similar results for ideals which contains the anti-commutator ideal (the defining ideal of the exterior algebra). We define one weak notion of generic initial ideals in K ?X 1,…, X n ?, and show that generic initial ideals of ideals containing the anti-commutator ideal, or the commutator ideal, are finitely generated. 相似文献

In 1988 Kalai constructed a large class of simplicial spheres, called squeezed spheres, and in 1991 presented a conjecture about generic initial ideals of Stanley-Reisner ideals of squeezed spheres. In the present paper this conjecture will be proved. In order to prove Kalai's conjecture, based on the fact that every squeezed (d−1)-sphere is the boundary of a certain d-ball, called a squeezed d-ball, generic initial ideals of Stanley-Reisner ideals of squeezed balls will be determined. In addition, generic initial ideals of exterior face ideals of squeezed balls are determined. On the other hand, we study the squeezing operation, which assigns to each Gorenstein* complex Γ having the weak Lefschetz property a squeezed sphere Sq(Γ), and show that this operation increases graded Betti numbers. 相似文献

We find sufficient condition, in terms of residue currents, for a smooth function to belong to the ideal in C∞ (or Ck) generated by f. If f is a complete intersection the condition is necessary. More generally we give a sufficient condition for an element of class C∞ (or Ck) in the Koszul complex induced by f to be exact. We define and study Cartan–Betti numbers of a graded ideal J in the exterior algebra over an infinite field which include the usual graded Betti numbers of J as a special case. Following ideas of Conca regarding Koszul–Betti numbers over the symmetric algebra, we show that Cartan–Betti numbers increase by passing to the generic initial ideal and the squarefree lexsegement ideal, respectively. Moreover, we characterize the cases where the inequalities become equalities. As combinatorial applications of the first part of this note and some further symmetric algebra methods we establish results about algebraic shifting of simplicial complexes and use them to compare different shifting operations. In particular, we show that each shifting operation does not decrease the number of facets, and that the exterior shifting is the best among the exterior shifting operations in the sense that it increases the number of facets the least. 相似文献

We consider the vanishing ideal of a projective space over a finite field. An explicit set of generators for this ideal has been given by Mercier and Rolland. We show that these generators form a universal Gr¨obner basis of the ideal. Further we give a projective analogue for the so-called footprint bound, and a version of it that is suitable for estimating the number of rational points of projective algebraic varieties over finite fields. An application to Serre's inequality for the number of points of projective hypersurfaces over finite fields is included. 相似文献

Let R be a Noetherian ring. We prove that R has global dimension at most two if, and only if, every prime ideal of R is of linear type. Similarly, we show that R has global dimension at most three if, and only if, every prime ideal of R is syzygetic. For an ideal or -subalgebra of , consider subfields , where is generated - as ideal or -subalgebra - by polynomials in . It is a standard result for ideals that there is a smallest such . We give an algorithm to find it. We also prove that there is a smallest such for -subalgebras. The ideal results use reduced Gröbner bases. For the subalgebra results we develop and then use subduced SAGBI (bases), the analog to reduced Gröbner bases.

Abstract We show that every element of the integral closure D′ of a domain D occurs as a coefficient of the minimal polynomial of a matrix with entries in D. This answers affirmatively a question of Brewer and Richman, namely, if integrally closed domains are characterized by the property that the minimal polynomial of every square matrix with entries in D is in D[x]. It follows that a domain D is integrally closed if and only if for every matrix A with entries in D the null ideal of A, N D (A)?=?{f?∈?D[x]?∣?f(A)?=?0} is a principal ideal of D[x]. 相似文献
