The birational type of the moduli space of even spin curves

We determine the Kodaira dimension of the moduli space Sg of even spin curves for all g. Precisely, we show that Sg is of general type for g>8 and has negative Kodaira dimension for g<8.

Counting bitangents with stable maps

This paper is an elementary introduction to the theory of moduli spaces of curves and maps. As an application to enumerative geometry, we show how to count the number of bitangent lines to a projective plane curve of degree d by doing intersection theory on moduli spaces.     

DIMENSION DEFECTS AND THE HOPF INVARIANT

Abstract

The concept of dimension defect of a mapping was introduced by H. Hopf in [5]. We generalize and answer questions about mappings S³ → S² which he raised at the end of that paper. Our main result is that a mapping S^2n-1 → Sⁿ with non-vanishing Hopf invariant does not have dimension defect.     

LOCAL AND GLOBAL HOPF BIFURCATIONS FOR A PREDATOR-PREY SYSTEM WITH TWO DELAYS

In this paper, the Leslie predator-prey system with two delays is studied. The stability of the positive equilibrium is discussed by analyzing the associated characteristic transcendental equation. The direction and stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions are determined by applying the center manifold theorem and normal form theory. The conditions to guarantee the global existence of periodic solutions are given.

Sine—Gordon方程的全局吸引子的维数估计

本文得到了阻尼Ｓｉｎｅ－Ｇｏｒｄｏｎ方程的狄氏问题的全局吸引子的Ｈａｕｓｄｏｒｆｆ维数以偶数上界的参数条件，特别地，当阻尼与Ｌａｐｌａｅ算子的第一个特征值适当大时，全局吸引子是零维的，零维吸引子恰是系统的唯一平衡解并且指数吸引相空间的有界集。

Gorenstein平坦(余挠)维数和Hopf作用

设H是域k上的有限维Hopf代数,A是左H-模代数.本文研究了Gorenstein平坦（余挠）维数在A-模范畴和A#H-模范畴之间的关系.利用可分函子的性质,证明了（1）设A是右凝聚环,若A#H/A可分且φ：A→A#H是可裂的（A,A）-双模同态,则l：Gwd（A）=l：Gwd（A#H）;（2）若A#H/A可分且φ：A→A#H是可裂的（A,A）-双模同态,则l：Gcd（A）=l：Gcd（A#H）,推广了斜群环上的结果.     

A perfect stratification of $${\mathcal M_ g}$$ for g ≤ 5

We find for g ≤ 5 a stratification of depth g − 2 of the moduli space of curves with the property that its strata are affine and the classes of their closures provide a -basis for the Chow ring of . The first property confirms a conjecture of one of us. The way we establish the second property yields new (and simpler) proofs of theorems of Faber and Izadi which, taken together, amount to the statement that in this range the Chow ring is generated by the λ-class.      

Spin structures on instanton moduli spaces

We determine the necessary and sufficient conditions for the based SU(l)-instanton moduli spaces over CP² and the unbased SU(2)-instanton moduli spaces over S⁴ having spin structures.     

GLOBAL WEAK SOLUTIONS OF COMPRESSIBLE NAVIER-STOKES-LANDAU-LIFSHITZ-MAXWELL EQUATIONS FOR QUANTUM FLUIDS IN DIMENSION THREE

In this paper,we consider the weak solutions of compressible Navier-StokesLandau-Lifshitz-Maxwell(CNSLLM) system for quantum fluids with a linear density dependent viscosity in a 3D torus.By introducing the cold pressure P_c,we prove the global existence of weak solutions with the pressure P+P_c,where P=Aρ^γ with γ≥1.Our main result extends the one in [13] on the quantum Navier-Stokes equations to the CNSLLM system.     

Generating functions for Hurwitz-Hodge integrals

We describe explicit generating functions for a large class of Hurwitz-Hodge integrals. These are integrals of tautological classes on moduli spaces of admissible covers, a (stackily) smooth compactification of the Hurwitz schemes.Admissible covers and their tautological classes are interesting mathematical objects on their own, but recently they have proved to be a useful tool for the study of the tautological ring of the moduli space of curves, and the orbifold Gromov-Witten theory of DM stacks.     

GLOBAL EXISTENCE OF SOLUTIONS FOR QUADRATIC QUASI-LINEAR KLEIN-GORDON SYSTEMS IN ONE SPACE DIMENSION

Consider quadratic quasi-linear Klein-Gordon systems with eventually different masses for small, smooth, compactly supported Cauchy data in one space dimension.It is proved that the global existence holds when a convenient null condition is satisfied by nonlinearities.     

The universal theta divisor over the moduli space of curves

By computing the class of the universal antiramification locus of the Gauss map, we obtain a complete birational classification by Kodaira dimension of the universal theta divisor over the moduli space of curves.     

Modular Invariants and Singularity Indices of Hyperelliptic Fibrations

The modular invariants of a family of curves are the degrees of the pullback of the corresponding divisors by the moduli map. The singularity indices were introduced by Xiao (1991) to classify singular fibers of hyperelliptic fibrations and to compute global invariants locally. In semistable case, the author shows that the modular invariants corresponding to the boundary divisor classes are just the singularity indices. As an application, the author shows that the formula of Xiao for relative Chern numbers is the same as that of Cornalba-Harris in semistable case.     

Square-tiled surfaces and rigid curves on moduli spaces

We study the algebro-geometric aspects of Teichmüller curves parameterizing square-tiled surfaces with two applications.(a) There exist infinitely many rigid curves on the moduli space of hyperelliptic curves. They span the same extremal ray of the cone of moving curves. Their union is a Zariski dense subset. Hence they yield infinitely many rigid curves with the same properties on the moduli space of stable n-pointed rational curves for even n.(b) The limit of slopes of Teichmüller curves and the sum of Lyapunov exponents for the Teichmüller geodesic flow determine each other, which yields information about the cone of effective divisors on the moduli space of curves.
