Let (R,m) be a Cohen-Macaulay local ring of dimension d with infinite residue field, I an m-primary ideal and K an ideal containing I. Let J be a minimal reduction of I such that, for some positive integer k, KIn ∩ J = JKIn-1 for n ≤ k ? 1 and λ( JKKIIkk-1 ) = 1. We show that if depth G(I) ≥ d-2, then such fiber cones have almost maximal depth. We also compute, in this case, the Hilbert series of FK(I) assuming that depth G(I) ≥ d - 1.  相似文献

For a commutative ring K the conception of a strongly maximal ideal J was introduced by Kuzucuoglu and Levchuk in 2000. Denote by Rn(K,J) the ring of all n×n-matrices over K with elements from J on and above the main diagonal. Recent results on ideals of the ring Rn(K,J) for this case, ideals of the associated Lie ring and normal subgroups of the adjoint group are considered in this paper. Also ideals of Rn(K,J) for the case of an arbitrary associative ring K with the identity are investigated.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate ideals of regular rings and give several characterizations for an ideal to satisfy the comparability. In addition it is shown that, if I is a minimal two-sided ideal of a regular ring R, then I satisfies the comparability if and only if I is separative. Furthermore, we prove that, for ideals with stable range one, Roth's problem has an affirmative solution. These extend the corresponding results on unit-regularity and one-sided unit-regularity. In this article, we give a unified approach for several results concerning the fiber cone. Our novel idea is to use the complex C(x k , ? I 1; I 2 , (1, n)). We improve earlier results obtained by several researchers and get some new results. We give a more general definition of ideals of minimal multiplicity and of ideals of almost minimal multiplicity. We also compute the Hilbert series of the fiber cone for these ideals.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to characterize those elements in a semiprime ring R for which taking local rings at elements and rings of quotients are commuting operations. If Q denotes the maximal ring of left quotients of R, then this happens precisely for those elements if R which are von Neumann regular in Q. An intrinsic characterization of such elements is given. We derive as a consequence that the maximal left quotient ring of a prime ring with a nonzero PI-element is primitive and has nonzero socle. If we change Q to the Martindale symmetric ring of quotients, or to the maximal symmetric ring of quotients of R, we obtain similar results: an element a in R is von Neumann regular if and only if the ring of quotients of the local ring of R at a is isomorphic to the local ring of Q at a. Abstract

Summand intersection property (SIP) and summand sum property (SSP) of modules are studied in Garcia [Garcia, J. L. (1989). Properties of direct summands of modules. Comm. Algebra 17(1):73–92] and Wilson [Wilson (1986). Modules with the summand intersection property. Comm. Algebra 14(1):21–38] respectively, and these properties for C(X) are studied in Azarpanah [Azarpanah, F. (1999). Sum and intersection of summand ideals in C(X). Comm. Algebra 27(11): 5549–5560]. In this paper we give some topological characterizations of these properties in the case of a commutative reduced ring R. It is shown that R has SIP if and only if every intersection of clopen subsets of Spec(R) has a closed interior. This characterization shows that R has SIP whenever Spec(R) is locally connected or extremally disconnected. It is also shown that R has SSP if and only if Spec(R) has only finitely many components. If 𝒮 is a strong subspace of Spec(R), we can replace 𝒮 with Spec(R) and all of the above results remain valid. In semiprimitive Gelfand rings, SIP and SSP are equivalent.  相似文献
