A detailed phenomenological analysis of the lepton mass matrices and their implications in the low energy theory are discussed, within the recently proposed SU(5)×U(1) string model. The unification scale is highly constrained while the Yukawa couplings lie in a natural region. The flavour changing decays μ→eγ, μ→3e, μ→e are highly suppressed while the depletion in the in the flux of muon neutrinos reported by the Kamiokande is explained through νμντ oscillations.  相似文献

A new approach to electroweak (EW) composite scalars is developed starting from the fundamental gauge interaction on high scale. The latter is assumed to have the group structure SU(2) L × SU(2) R × SU(4), where SU(4) is the Pati-Salam color-lepton group. The topological EW vacuum filled by instantons is explicitly constructed and the resulting equations for fermion masses exhibit spontaneous SU(2) flavor symmetry violation with possibility of very large mass ratios.  相似文献

We discuss a four-dimensional string model whose effective field theory is a supersymmetric flipped SU(5)×U(1) GUT with the following properties.
  • •- The quark and lepton mass matrices have a hierarchical structure and all Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa mixing angles can be non-zero.
  • •- There is a natural splitting of Higgs doublets and triplets.
  • •- A novel seesaw mechanism gives light left-handed neutrinos.
  • •- The gauge group is reduced to the standard model SU(3)C×SU(2)L×U(1)Y at a large mass scale close to MP.
Extensive use is made of non-renormalizable superpotential couplings which may arise from couplings to identifiable massive modes, and are restricted by an R symmetry and the requirements of flatness is some field directions.  相似文献

Using the Bs meson wave function extracted from non-leptonic Bs decays, we reevaluate the rare decays Bs→l+l- γ,(l=e,μ) in the Standard Model, including two kinds of contributions from the magnetic-penguin operator with virtual and real photons. We find that contributions to the exclusive decays from the magnetic-penguin operator b→sγ with real photons, which were regarded as negligible in the previous literature, are large and the branching ratios Bs→l+l-γ are enhanced by a factor of almost 2. With the predicted branching ratios of the order of 10-8, it is expected that these radiative dileptonic decays will be detected in LHC-b and B factories in the near future.  相似文献

The binding energy of the six-quark system with strangeness s = −3 is investigated under the chiral SU(3) constituent quark model in the framework of RGM. The calculations of the single NΩ channel with spin S = 2 and the single ΔΩ channel with spin S = 3 are performed. The results show that both systems could be dibaryons and the interaction induced by the chiral field plays a very important role on forming bound states in the systems considered. The phase shifts and scattering lengths in corresponding channels are also given.  相似文献

The spontaneous breakdown of symmetry of the-model in the [1, 1] representation of SU(2) SU(2) group is investigated. It is shown that the spontaneous breakdown is realized in all cases of squared mass 2 in mass term in the Lagrangian ( 2>0, 2=0, 2<0), unlike the-model in [1/2, 1/2] representation, in which the spontaneous breakdown only for the case 2<0 manifests itself. Further, different but equivalent methods of obtaining the nonlinear realization for pions in the frame of an extended in such a way-model are demonstrated. I propose an experiment that may be performed, with present low temperature and cryogenic technology, to reveal Wheeler’s quantum foam. It involves coupling an optical photon’s momentum to the center of mass motion of a macroscopic transparent block with parameters such that the latter is displaced in space by approximately a Planck length. I argue that such displacement is sensitive to quantum foam and will react back on the photon’s probability of transiting the block. This might allow determination of the precise scale at which quantum fluctuations of space–time become large, and so differentiate between the brane-world and the traditional scenarios of spacetime.  相似文献

Using the Dyson-Schwinger equation, the four-fermion Green functions in one-loop approximation to the SU(2)L U(1) four-fermion model are found, as well as corrections to them. An expression is obtained for the collective field propagator in the one-loop approximation, and its regularization is performed. In the model under consideration, collective excitations are identified with a massless Goldstone field and a massive scalar field. We generalize the SU(N=2) S=1/2 square-lattice quantum magnet with nearest-neighbor antiferromagnetic coupling (J(1)) and next-nearest-neighbor ferromagnetic coupling (J(2)) to arbitrary N. For all N>4, the ground state has valence-bond-solid order for J(2)=0 and Néel order for J(2)/J(1)?1, allowing us access to the transition between these types of states for large N. Using quantum Monte Carlo simulations, we show that both order parameters vanish at a single quantum-critical point, whose universal exponents for large enough N (here up to N=12) approach the values obtained in a 1/N expansion of the noncompact CP(N-1) field theory. These results lend strong support to the deconfined quantum-criticality theory of the Néel-valence-bond-solid transition.  相似文献

It is shown that dynamic symmetry breaking in the locally SU(2) U(1)-invariant model with mixed inclusion of fermions in a four-fermion interaction leads to a situation in which one collective scalar field, representing the sum of all generations of fermion-antifermion pairs, acts as the total (one-loop) effective Lagrangian. Mass formulas are found for the scalar field and gauge vector fields. The lattice regularizedSU(2)l ?SU(2)r symmetric scalar fermion model with explicit mirror fermions is investigated in the phase with unbroken symmetry. In the present work numerical Monte Carlo calculations with dynamical fermions are performed on 43·8 and 43·16 lattices near the expected perturbative Gaussian fixed point. The bare Yukawa coupling of the mirror fermion is fixed at zero. Global symmetries of the model are discussed, and the numerical results are supported by lattice perturbation theory.  相似文献
