We describe two free-space optical links for multichannel optical interconnects. The targeted aggregate data rate is 240 Gb/s. In one implementation we use a unique implementation of telecentric optics and achieved an optical link that is simple, robust, and modular. We describe a simple, inexpensive telecentric lens that can accommodate all optical channels within a 1-mm-diameter sweet zone. We also describe the performance of an optical link with a 4×4 array of VCSELs and matching detectors. The integrity of the optical link is not significantly degraded with a>±2 mm translational misalignment between the VCSEL and detector arrays. With the telecentric optical link, we need only two low-bandwidth, single-axis active servomechanisms to compensate for static tilt and possibly low-frequency thermally-driven shift between the transmitter and receiver arrays. In the other implementaion we use two matching arrays of 1×12 optical fibers. Data are coupled optically through an air gap of 2 mm by means of a pair of collimating microlens arrays that are aligned to one another via precision mechanical subassemblies. We describe a simple, inexpensive, and robust mechanical coupling for the optical link achieved by using miniature high-flux magnets.  相似文献

Utilizing a recently developed exact closed-form solution for a single polygonal quantum wire (QWR) inclusion problem, we theoretically investigate the elastic strain and electric fields induced by QWR arrays embedded in GaAs. We consider arrays ranging from 1×1 to 7×7 QWRs embedded in infinite substrates and up to 4×7 QWRs in half space substrates where the wires are near a surface. Our results for the infinite substrate indicate that although the elastic fields within any single QWR are similar to the fields in the other wires with only a weak dependence on the number of QWRs, the electric fields (both inside and outside the QWRs) can be significantly different for different array sizes. Due to the existence of the free surface, the half space solutions show that the elastic and electric fields both inside of and outside of the QWRs depend significantly on the number of QWRs, again with the electric field having the stronger dependence. A detailed analysis of the strain and electric fields for embedded QWR arrays is presented and the results could impact the design of proposed strain-modulated electronic devices.  相似文献

Based on scalar diffraction theory, 8-phase-level 256×290 element diffractive microlens arrays with lenslet dimension of 50×33 μm2 have been fabricated on the back side of PtSi infrared focal plane arrays. The design and fabrication process are discussed. The measurement results indicate that the imaging quality has been greatly improved and the ratio of the signal-to-noise of the infrared focal plane array integration with microlens array is increased by a factor of 2.5.  相似文献

Z-pinch experiments with two arrays consisting, respectively, of 32 4-μm- and 6-μm-diameter tungsten wires have been carried out on QiangGuang-1 facility with a current rising up to 1.5MA in 80ns. At early time of implosion, x-ray framing images show that the initial emission comes from the central part of arrays, and double clear emission rings, drifting to the anode and the cathode at 5×106cm/s and 2.4×107cm/s respectively, are often produced near the electrodes. Later, in a 4-μm-diameter tungsten wire array, filamentation caused by ohmic heating is prominent, and more than ten filaments have been observed. A radial inward shift of arrays starts at about 30\,ns earlier than the occurrence of the x-ray peak power for both kinds of arrays, and the shrinkage rate of emission region is as high as 1.7×107cm/s in a 4-μm-diameter tungsten wire array, which is two times higher than that in a 6-μm one. Emission from precursor plasmas is observed in implosion of 6-μm-diameter tungsten wire arrays, but not in implosion of a 4-μm-diameter tungsten wire array. Whereas, in a 4-μm-diameter tungsten wire array, the soft x-ray emission shows the growth of m=1 instability in the plasma column, which is caused by current. The reasons for the discrepancy between implosions of 4-μm- and 6-μm-diameter tungsten wire arrays are explained.  相似文献

We present a cost-efficient parallel optical transceiver module based on a 1×4 VCSEL array, a 1×4 PD array, and a 12-wide multimode fiber ribbon for very-short-reach application. A passive alignment technique using through-silicon-hole (TSH) has been developed to realize high-efficient butt-coupling between optoelectronic arrays and multimode fibers. In this paper, the detail optical coupling structure, misalignment tolerance, micro-assembly process, and measurement results are mainly discussed. Finally, lensed multimode fibers formed by chemical etching are proposed, which exhibit a great potential for further improvement of coupling performance.  相似文献

就高功率激光二极管阵列端面泵浦大口径放大器提出一种新的耦合方式:激光二极管阵列拟柱面排布,即所有激光二极管面阵成1维圆弧型排列,圆弧的圆心在增益介质的几何中心,其后紧接一个空心导管进行耦合传输。建立了3维光线追迹程序对这种新耦合方式的特性进行模拟。模拟计算结果表明:这种耦合方式中二极管阵列排布方式灵活,当二极管阵列面阵单元以1×12(圆弧方向)、2×6(圆弧方向)、3×4(圆弧方向)这3种排布方式排布时,在较大的圆半径变化范围内均能实现高的输出耦合效率和高的能量沉积效率;当增益介质紧贴导管输出放置时,3种方式排列均能在增益介质中实现均匀平顶分布;当快轴方向所排阵列个数与慢轴方向所排阵列个数之比接近慢轴发散角与快轴发散角之比时,能获得更好的耦合效果。  相似文献

设计出四次质子注入工艺制备垂直腔面发射激光器(VCSEL)阵列的方法,实现了对阵列中单元器件间的隔离以及对单元器件注入电流限制的分别作用。一方面通过对VCSEL外延片上分布布拉格反射镜(DBR)两次较浅的质子注入形成高电阻区域实现对阵列中单元器件间的隔离,另一方面通过再次的两次较深度的可以达到有源区上表面的质子注入形成高电阻区域实现对单元器件注入电流的限制。由瞬态热传导方程对阵列中单元器件间的热相互作用进行了理论分析。采用四次质子注入工艺实现了2×2、3×3简单的二维GaAs/AlGaAs量子阱VCSEL阵列,并对器件的激射近场、光谱特性及功率等进行了测量。  相似文献

We demonstrate high-speed blue 4 × 4 micro-light-emitting-diode(LED) arrays with 14 light-emitting units(two light-emitting units are used as the positive and negative electrodes for power supply, respectively) comprising multiple quantum wells formed of Ga N epitaxial layers grown on a sapphire substrate, and experimentally test their applicability for being used as VLC transmitters and illuminations. The micro-LED arrays provide a maximum-3-d B frequency response of 60.5 MHz with a smooth frequency curve from 1 MHz to 500 MHz for an optical output power of 165 mW at an injection current of 30 mA, which, to our knowledge, is the highest response frequency ever reported for blue Ga N-based LEDs operating at that level of optical output power. The relationship between the frequency and size of the device single pixel diameter reveals the relationship between the response frequency and diffusion capacitance of the device.  相似文献

Multiple and mechanically scanned ultrasound transducer systems have demonstrated the efficacy of using ultrasound to produce deep localized hyperthermia. The use of ultrasonic phased arrays has been proposed as an alternative to these systems. A phased array offers a more flexible approach to heating tumours in that the size, shape, and position of its focal region can be altered during the course of treatment in order to achieve the desired temperature distribution. This added flexibility comes at the cost of increased complexity of the hardware necessary to drive the transducer because each element requires its own amplifer with both phase and amplitude control. In order for phased arrays with large numbers of elements to be feasible for hyperthermia applications, the complexity of this circuitry must be minimized. This paper describes a circuit design which simplifies the electronics required to control a phased array transducer system for hyperthermia applications. The design is capable of controlling virtually any type of phased array transducer operating at frequencies less than 2 MHz. The system performance was verified through beam profile measurements using a 48-element tapered phased array transducer.  相似文献

Ultrasound has a large potential on non-invasive inspection with main applications in medical imaging and non-destructive testing (NDT). The increasing interest in 3D imaging applications leads to investigate new solutions for two-dimensional (2D) ultrasonic arrays with an affordable number of electronic channels without resolution degradation. 2D segmented annular arrays (SAAs) are a good compromise between resolution--image quality--and number of electronically active channels. A 1-3 piezoelectric composites are used as basis material to manufacture the array transducers due to their low planar coupling and high electromechanical coupling coefficients. A 1.5 MHz SAA of 64 elements and 20 mm of diameter was designed, manufactured and tested. The design key point is the use of a flexible circuit with electrodes and tracks that define the array geometry. The piezocomposite was used as a monolithic support. Soft backing and one matching layer were used. The array elements have been tested electrically and acoustically showing good agreement with a KLM-based simulation model. Acoustical field measurements in water at different steering angles were made and compared with simulations performed with a model that uses an exact solution of the impulse response approach. Side lobes are important because the array geometry used was designed to work in metals for NDT purposes. Smaller array elements should be made for medical applications.  相似文献

A simple electrical method for determining the yield of indium bump integration between the infrared photosensing chip and the silicon readout chip in hybrid focal plane arrays (FPAs) is proposed. In our case, the IR photosensing chip consists of a 16 × 16 HgCdTe (MCT) photovoltaic (PV) array and the readout chip is a 16 × 16 silicon-CCD multiplexer (MUX). However, the method can be used for even larger array sizes. The method allows one to determine the yield of integration at room temperature. In addition, it does not necessitate the vacuum sealing of hybrid FPA in the dewar and subsequent testing at 77 K for determining this yield. The proposed method essentially verifies the electrical connectivity between the MCT PV diodes and their corresponding input diffusions in the CCD MUX on pixel-to-pixel basis. A simple examination of the readout of the whole array on the oscilloscope at room temperature, initiated at the detector and through CCD MUX is used for determining exactly how many MCT PV diodes have been joined successfully to their corresponding CCD MUX pixels after indium bump integration.  相似文献

Silicon micro cantilevers are used as highly sensitive transducers for a wide range of physical, chemical and biochemical stimuli. Vibrating the cantilevers at higher-order resonant modes can achieve extra sensitivity, but the difficulty lies in determining exactly which modes are excited in the cantilever. This problem is exacerbated for cantilever sensors operating in liquid where the computational analysis of the resonance modes is very challenging. Using strobed interferometric microscopy, we are able to image the dynamic behavior of individual (100×500×1 μm3) cantilevers in an eight cantilever array over frequencies from 0–1 MHz. We show how some modifications to the interferometric microscope allow for the spatial visualization of 16 longitudinal modes of cantilevers working in liquid with nanometer-scale amplitudes. We also compare the shift in frequency response and reduction in quality factor for cantilevers resonating in liquid versus in air and simulations in vacuum. Because the resonant frequency spectrum is fairly complex and does not follow simple intuition, our work maps the actual behavior of cantilevers without having any specific knowledge of the sample and environment parameters and without the necessity of involved simulations and calculations.  相似文献

Future astronomical instruments call for large format and high sensitivity far infrared focal-plane arrays to meet their science objectives. Arrays as large as 128 × 128 with sensitivities equal to or better than 10−18 W/√Hz are set as targets for the far IR instruments to be developed within the next 10 years. These seemingly modest goals present a not-so-modest quantum leap for far IR detector technology whose progress is hampered by a number of complexities; chief among them the development of low noise readouts operating at deep cryogenic temperatures and a viable hybridization scheme suitable for far IR detectors. In an effort to incrementally develop large-format photoconductor arrays, we have fabricated a 2 × 16 Ge:Sb array using the SBRC190 readout – a cryogenic 1 × 32 CTIA readout multiplexer initially developed for SOFIA’s AIRES instrument. In this paper we report the results of the extensive parametric tests performed on this array showing an impressive noise performance of 2.2 × 10−18 W/√Hz and a DQE of 0.41 despite some design limitations. With such an encouraging performance, this prototype array will serve as a platform for our future developmental effort.  相似文献

An exact solution is obtained for the normal vibration frequencies of a rectangular array of identical point-masses. The method of intermediate co-ordinate transformation, which was introduced in a previous article in this journal, makes it possible to treat the system as a coupled set of linear chains. By this means, the analysis can be made considerably simpler than the usual treatment. The result shows that the coupling of the normal modes of the separate chains is restricted to those modes having the same index numbers. Thus, the usual problem involving N1 × N1 secular determinant, where N1 is the number of particles contained in each separate chain, is reduced to that involving only a 2 × 2 determinant. The calculation in the present article will serve as a basis for the vibrational analyses of more complicated problems involving two- and three-dimensional arrays of masses that are perturbed by “disorder”.  相似文献

Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is a critical factor in MR-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) for local heating, which can affect the accuracy of temperature measurement. In order to achieve high SNR and higher temporal resolution, dedicated coil arrays for MR-guided HIFU applications need to be developed. In this work, a flexible 9-channel coil array was designed, and constructed at 3 T to achieve fast temperature mapping for MR-guided HIFU applications on rabbit leg muscle. Coil performance was evaluated for SNR, and parallel imaging capability by in-vivo studies. Compared to a commercially available 4-channel flexible coil array, the dedicated 9-channel coil array has a much higher SNR, with at least a 2.6-fold increment in the region of interest (ROI). The inverse g-factors maps demonstrated that the dedicated 9-channel coil array has a better parallel imaging capability than the Flex Small 4. With accelerations normal to the array direction, both coil arrays showed much higher g-factors than those of accelerations along the array direction. Room temperature mapping was implemented to evaluate the temperature measurement accuracy by in-vivo experiments. The precisions of the 9-channel coil, ±0.18 °C for un-acceleration and ± 0.56 °C for acceleration at R = 2 × 2, both improved by an order of magnitude than these of the 4-channel coil, which were ± 1.45 °C for un-acceleration and ± 3.52 °C for acceleration at R = 2 × 2. In the fast temperature imaging on the rabbit leg muscle with heating, a high temporal resolution of 3.3 s with a temperature measurement precision of ±0.56 °C has been achieved using the dedicated 9-channel coil. This study demonstrates that the dedicated 9-channel coil array for rabbit leg imaging provides improved performance in SNR, parallel imaging capability, and the accuracy of temperature measurement compared to a commercial 4-channel coil, and it also achieves fast temperature mapping in practical MR-guided HIFU applications.  相似文献

We present an easy approach to synthesize closely spaced regular arrays of silver nanoclusters, which are self-assembled by depositing gas-phase synthesized metal nanoclusters onto pre-patterned triblock copolymer templates. The array has a high particle density of about 2 ×103 particles per μm2, and an average interparticle space of about 20 nm. The surface plasmon resonance wavelength of the array is tuned due to the interparticle plasmon coupling. High SERS sensitivity for less than one layer trans-1,2-bi-(4-pyridyl) ethylene (BPE) molecule detection, with an enhancement factor of 2.6 ×106, has been demonstrated for a substrate with this array. The enhanced Raman signal was found to be 5 times higher than that measured from the substrate with randomly distributed silver nanoparticles.  相似文献

Conditions for a self-organized formation of ordered hexagonal structure in anodic alumina were investigated, using oxalic or sulphuric acid as an electrolyte. Highly-ordered nanopore arrays with pore densities of 9×109-6.5×1010cm-2 and high aspect ratios over 3000 were fabricated by a two-step anodization process. The array exhibits characteristics analogous to a two-dimensional polycrystalline structure of a few micrometres in size. The interpore distance can be controlled by changing the electrolyte and/or the applied voltage. The formation mechanism of ordered arrays is consistent with a previously proposed mechanical stress model, i.e., the repulsive forces between neighbouring pores at the metal/oxide interface promote the formation of hexagonally ordered pores during the oxidation process.  相似文献

In this work, the effect of different arrays arrangements on the magnetic behaviour of patterned thin film media is simulated. The modeled films consist of 80×80 cobalt grains of uniform diameter (20 nm) distributed into two different array arrangement: hexagonal (triangular) or square arrays. In addition to that, for each array arrangement, two cases of anisotropy orientations, random and textured films are considered. For both array arrangements and media orientations, hysteresis loops at different array separation (d) were simulated. Predictions show that for closely packed films, the shearing effects on the magnetization loop are much larger for the square array arrangement than the hexagonal one. According to these predictions, the bit switching field distribution in interacting 2D systems is much narrower for the hexagonal array arrangement. This result could be very important for high-density magnetic recording where a narrow bit switching field distribution is required.  相似文献

We proposed in this study a novel analog complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) circuit for generating a motion signal when an object moves, which is a simple structure. The proposed unit circuit was constructed using a previously proposed edge detection circuit and a novel proposed circuit for generating a motion signal which accepts an edge signal. The part for generating the motion signal was constructed using six metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) transistors and one capacitor. Results obtained by the simulation program with integrated circuit emphasis (SPICE) and the measured results of a test circuit constructed with discrete MOS transistors and the test circuit fabricated with a 1.2 μm CMOS process showed that the proposed unit circuit can output pulsed current (motion signal) when an object moves on the circuit. It was clarified from the SPICE results that the two-dimensional network constructed with proposed unit circuits can output motion signals. The size of the novel unit circuit is expected to be about 110 × 110μm2 obtained by the 1.2 μm CMOS process. It is possible to arrange 90 × 90 unit circuits on a chip which has an area of 1 × 1cm2. The aperture ratio is expected to be about 21%, which is twice as large as that of the previously proposed circuit. An integrated circuit for image processing in real time can thus be realized by applying the two-dimensional network constructed with the proposed circuits.  相似文献
