Results from ion‐mobility (IM) separation experiments demonstrate that O‐ and N‐protomers of p‐(dimethylamino)chalcone (p‐DMAC) can coexist in the gas phase. The relative populations of the two protomers strongly depend on the ion‐generating settings and the conditions the precursor ions experience from the point of their gas‐phase inception to the time of their detection. Under relatively dry source conditions, the ratio of the gas‐phase protomers generated under helium‐plasma ionization (HePI) conditions is biased towards the thermodynamically favored O‐protomer. However, when the humidity of the enclosed ion source was increased, the IM arrival‐time distribution profile of the mass‐selected protonated precursor of p‐DMAC changed rapidly to one dominated by the N‐protomer. Under spray‐ionization conditions, the formation of the thermodynamically less favored protomer has been generally attributed to a phenomenon called kinetic trapping. Herein, we demonstrate that the population of thermodynamically less favored N‐protomer can be dramatically increased simply by introducing water vapor to the HePI ion source.  相似文献

The gas‐phase chemistry of deprotonated benzyl N‐phenylcarbamates was investigated by electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry. Characteristic losses of a substituted phenylcarbinol and a benzaldehyde from the precursor ion were proposed to be derived from an ion‐neutral complex (INC)‐mediated competitive proton and hydride transfer reactions. The intermediacy of the INC consisting of a substituted benzyloxy anion and a phenyl isocyanate was supported by both ortho‐site‐blocking experiments and density functional theory calculations. Within the INC, the benzyloxy anion played the role of either a proton abstractor or a hydride donor toward its neutral counterpart. Relative abundances of the product ions were influenced by the nature of the substituents. Electron‐withdrawing groups at the N‐phenyl ring favored the hydrogen transfer process (including proton and hydride transfer), whereas electron‐donating groups favored direct decomposition to generate the benzyloxy anion (or substituted benzyloxy anion). By contrast, electron‐withdrawing and electron‐donating substitutions at the O‐benzyl ring exhibited opposite effects. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A promising replacement for the radioactive sources commonly encountered in ion mobility spectrometers is a miniaturized, energy‐efficient photoionization source that produce the reactant ions via soft X‐radiation (2.8 keV). In order to successfully apply the photoionization source, it is imperative to know the spectrum of reactant ions and the subsequent ionization reactions leading to the detection of analytes. To that end, an ionization chamber based on the photoionization source that reproduces the ionization processes in the ion mobility spectrometer and facilitates efficient transfer of the product ions into a mass spectrometer was developed. Photoionization of pure gasses and gas mixtures containing air, N2, CO2 and N2O and the dopant CH2Cl2 is discussed. The main product ions of photoionization are identified and compared with the spectrum of reactant ions formed by radioactive and corona discharge sources on the basis of literature data. The results suggest that photoionization by soft X‐radiation in the negative mode is more selective than the other sources. In air, adduct ions of O2 with H2O and CO2 were exclusively detected. Traces of CO2 impact the formation of adduct ions of O2 and Cl (upon addition of dopant) and are capable of suppressing them almost completely at high CO2 concentrations. Additionally, the ionization products of four alkyl nitrates (ethylene glycol dinitrate, nitroglycerin, erythritol tetranitrate and pentaerythritol tetranitrate) formed by atmospheric pressure chemical ionization induced by X‐ray photoionization in different gasses (air, N2 and N2O) and dopants (CH2Cl2, C2H5Br and CH3I) are investigated. The experimental studies are complemented by density functional theory calculations of the most important adduct ions of the alkyl nitrates (M) used for their spectrometric identification. In addition to the adduct ions [M + NO3] and [M + Cl], adduct ions such as [M + N2O2], [M + Br] and [M + I] were detected, and their gas‐phase structures and energetics are investigated by density functional theory calculations. In the paper, we have demonstrated the possibility of performing hydrogen/deuterium (H/D) exchange of proteins in the region of gas‐phase ion formation in an electrospray ion source by saturating the electrospray ionization source with vapors of a deuterating agent (D2O or MeOD). In this region, charged droplets are shrinking and the protein ions transfer into the gas phase. As a model protein, we have used ubiquitin whose ion mobility spectrometry and gas‐phase H/D exchange in the vacuum part of a mass spectrometer demonstrated the presence of gas‐phase conformers with different cross sections and H/D exchange rates. In our experiments, we observed monomodal deuterium distributions for all solvents, charge states, desolvating capillary temperature and types of deuterating agent. Also, we found that the number of H/D exchanges increases with an increasing desolvating capillary temperature and decreasing charge state. We observed that solution composition (49 : 50 : 1 H2O : MeOH : formic acid or 99 : 1 H2O : formic acid) influences the charge‐state distribution but did not change the degree of H/D exchange for the same charge state. Electron‐capture dissociation fragmentation shows that higher charge states contain a segment that is protected from access by the deuterating agent. A method of reversed‐phase ion‐pair solid‐phase extraction combined with ion chromatography for determination of pyrrolidinium ionic liquid cations (N‐methyl‐N‐ethyl pyrrolidinium, N‐methyl‐N‐propyl pyrrolidinium, and N‐methyl‐N‐butyl pyrrolidinium) in water samples was developed in this study. First, ion‐pair reagent sodium heptanesulfonate was added to the water samples after static, centrifugation and filteration. Then, pyrrolidinium cations in the samples were enriched and purified by a reversed‐phase solid‐phase extraction column, and eluted from the column with methanol aqueous solution as eluent. Finally, the eluate collected was analyzed by ion chromatography. The separation and direct conductivity detection of these pyrrolidinium cations by ion‐exchange column using 1.0 mM methanesulfonic acid (in water)/acetonitrile (97:3, v:v) as mobile phase was achieved within 10 min. By using this method, pyrrolidinium cations in Songhua River and Hulan River were successfully extracted with the recoveries ranging from 74.2 to 97.1% and the enrichment factor assessed as 60. Pyrrolidinium cations with the concentration of 0.001?0.03 mg/L can be enriched and detected in the water samples. The developed method for the determination of pyrrolidinium ionic liquid cations in water samples is simple and reliable, which provides a reference for the study of the potential impact of ionic liquids on the environment.  相似文献

The isomeric structure of high‐mannose N‐glycans can significantly impact biological recognition events. Here, the utility of travelling‐wave ion mobility mass spectrometry for isomer separation of high‐mannose N‐glycans is investigated. Negative ion fragmentation using collision‐induced dissociation gave more informative spectra than positive ion spectra with mass‐different fragment ions characterizing many of the isomers. Isomer separation by ion mobility in both ionization modes was generally limited, with the arrival time distributions (ATD) often showing little sign of isomers. However, isomers could be partially resolved by plotting extracted fragment ATDs of the diagnostic fragment ions from the negative ion spectra, and the fragmentation spectra of the isomers could be extracted by using ions from limited areas of the ATD peak. In some cases, asymmetric ATDs were observed, but no isomers could be detected by fragmentation. In these cases, it was assumed that conformers or anomers were being separated. Collision cross sections of the isomers in positive and negative fragmentation mode were estimated from travelling‐wave ion mobility mass spectrometry data using dextran glycans as calibrant. More complete collision cross section data were achieved in negative ion mode by utilizing the diagnostic fragment ions. Examples of isomer separations are shown for N‐glycans released from the well‐characterized glycoproteins chicken ovalbumin, porcine thyroglobulin and gp120 from the human immunodeficiency virus. In addition to the cross‐sectional data, details of the negative ion collision‐induced dissociation spectra of all resolved isomers are discussed. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The fragmentation reactions of N‐monoalkyloxyphosphoryl amino acids (N‐MAP‐AAs) were studied by electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (ESI‐MS). The sodiated cyclic acylphosphoramidates (CAPAs) were formed through a characteristic pentacoordinate phosphate participated rearrangement reaction in the positive‐ion ESI‐MS/MS and HR‐MS/MS of N‐MAP‐AAs, in which the fragmentation patterns were clearly different from those observed in the corresponding ESI‐MS/MS of N‐dialkyloxyphosphoryl amino acids/peptides and N‐phosphono amino acids. The formation of CAPAs depended on the chemical structures of N‐terminal phosphoryl groups, such as alkyloxy group, negative charge and alkali metal ion. A possible integrated rearrangement mechanism for both PN to PO phosphoryl group migration and formation of CAPAs was proposed. The fragmentation patterns of CAPAs as novel intermediates in gas phase were also investigated. In addition, it was found that the formation of α‐amino acid CAPAs was more favorable than β‐ or γ‐CAPAs in gas phase, which was consistent with previous solution‐phase experiments. Electronic‐structure density functional theory calculations have been performed to construct the potential energy surface for H2 release from ammonia‐borane, with a novel bifunctional cationic ruthenium catalyst based on the sterically bulky β‐diketiminato ligand (Schreiber et al., ACS Catal. 2012, 2, 2505). The focus is on identifying both a suitable substitution pattern for ammonia‐borane optimized for chemical hydrogen storage and allowing for low‐energy dehydrogenation. The interaction of ammonia‐borane, and related substituted ammonia‐boranes, with a bifunctional η6‐arene ruthenium catalyst and associated variants is investigated for dehydrogenation. Interestingly, in a number of cases, hydride‐proton transfer from the substituted ammonia‐borane to the catalyst undergoes a barrier‐less process in the gas phase, with rapid formation of hydrogenated catalyst in the gas phase. Amongst the catalysts considered, N,N‐difluoro ammonia‐borane and N‐phenyl ammonia‐borane systems resulted in negative activation energy barriers. However, these types of ammonia‐boranes are inherently thermodynamically unstable and undergo barrierless decay in the gas phase. Apart from N,N‐difluoro ammonia‐borane, the interaction between different types of catalyst and ammonia borane was modeled in the solvent phase, revealing free‐energy barriers slightly higher than those in the gas phase. Amongst the various potential candidate Ru‐complexes screened, few are found to differ in terms of efficiency for the dehydrogenation (rate‐limiting) step. To model dehydrogenation more accurately, a selection of explicit protic solvent molecules was considered, with the goal of lowering energy barriers for H‐H recombination. It was found that primary (1°), 2°, and 3° alcohols are the most suitable to enhance reaction rate. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

The study of ion chemistry involving the NO2+ is currently the focus of considerable fundamental interest and is relevant in diverse fields ranging from mechanistic organic chemistry to atmospheric chemistry. A very intense source of NO2+ was generated by injecting the products from the dielectric barrier discharge of a nitrogen and oxygen mixture upstream into the drift tube of a proton transfer reaction time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry (PTR‐TOF‐MS) apparatus with H3O+ as the reagent ion. The NO2+ intensity is controllable and related to the dielectric barrier discharge operation conditions and ratio of oxygen to nitrogen. The purity of NO2+ can reach more than 99% after optimization. Using NO2+ as the chemical reagent ion, the gas‐phase reactions of NO2+ with 11 aromatic compounds were studied by PTR‐TOF‐MS. The reaction rate coefficients for these reactions were measured, and the product ions and their formation mechanisms were analyzed. All the samples reacted with NO2+ rapidly with reaction rate coefficients being close to the corresponding capture ones. In addition to electron transfer producing [M]+, oxygen ion transfer forming [MO]+, and 3‐body association forming [M·NO2]+, a new product ion [M−C]+ was also formed owing to the loss of C═O from [MO]+.This work not only developed a new chemical reagent ion NO2+ based on PTR‐MS but also provided significant interesting fundamental data on reactions involving aromatic compounds, which will probably broaden the applications of PTR‐MS to measure these compounds in the atmosphere in real time.  相似文献

In this study, ion mobility separation coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (IM‐tandem MS) was utilized to investigate the ionization behaviors of two amino acids including leucine and isoleucine. Under the electrospray ionization (ESI) mode, two protonation sites in each molecular sturcture caused two forms of protomer. One arose from the amino being protonated (amino‐protomer) and the other from the carboxyl being protonated (carboxyl‐protomer). In the two‐dimensional (drift time, m/z) spectrum, the protomers had the same mass, but the distinguishable drift times and fragmentation patterns. For the characterization purpose, the theoretical collision cross section (CCS) values of the protomers were calculated and proven to be consistent with the experimental. Moreover, the quantified relationship between the amino acids and their protomers was evaluated. It showed that the abundance of the carboxyl‐protomer was proportional to the concentration of the amino acid, whereas that of the amino‐protomer did not have the same trend. Under the atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) mode, only the carboxyl‐protomer was observed. In addition, the amino‐protomer and the cluster ions observed under ESI were absent completely. The results demonstrate that the ionization mode impacts heavily on the ionization behaviors of leucine and isoleucine not only on the form of therir protomers but also on the quantified relationship.  相似文献

The design and synthesis of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted much interest due to the intriguing diversity of their architectures and topologies. However, building MOFs with different topological structures from the same ligand is still a challenge. Using 3‐nitro‐4‐(pyridin‐4‐yl)benzoic acid (HL) as a new ligand, three novel MOFs, namely poly[[(N,N‐dimethylformamide‐κO)bis[μ2‐3‐nitro‐4‐(pyridin‐4‐yl)benzoato‐κ3O,O′:N]cadmium(II)] N,N‐dimethylformamide monosolvate methanol monosolvate], {[Cd(C12H7N2O4)2(C3H7NO)]·C3H7NO·CH3OH}n, ( 1 ), poly[[(μ2‐acetato‐κ2O:O′)[μ3‐3‐nitro‐4‐(pyridin‐4‐yl)benzoato‐κ3O:O′:N]bis[μ3‐3‐nitro‐4‐(pyridin‐4‐yl)benzoato‐κ4O,O′:O′:N]dicadmium(II)] N,N‐dimethylacetamide disolvate monohydrate], {[Cd2(C12H7N2O4)3(CH3CO2)]·2C4H9NO·H2O}n, ( 2 ), and catena‐poly[[[diaquanickel(II)]‐bis[μ2‐3‐nitro‐4‐(pyridin‐4‐yl)benzoato‐κ2O:N]] N,N‐dimethylacetamide disolvate], {[Ni(C12H7N2O4)2(H2O)2]·2C4H9NO}n, ( 3 ), have been prepared. Single‐crystal structure analysis shows that the CdII atom in MOF ( 1 ) has a distorted pentagonal bipyramidal [CdN2O5] coordination geometry. The [CdN2O5] units as 4‐connected nodes are interconnected by L? ligands to form a fourfold interpenetrating three‐dimensional (3D) framework with a dia topology. In MOF ( 2 ), there are two crystallographically different CdII ions showing a distorted pentagonal bipyramidal [CdNO6] and a distorted octahedral [CdN2O4] coordination geometry, respectively. Two CdII ions are connected by three carboxylate groups to form a binuclear [Cd2(COO)3] cluster. Each binuclear cluster as a 6‐connected node is further linked by acetate groups and L? ligands to produce a non‐interpenetrating 3D framework with a pcu topology. MOF ( 3 ) contains two crystallographically distinct NiII ions on special positions. Each NiII ion adopts an elongated octahedral [NiN2O4] geometry. Each NiII ion as a 4‐connected node is linked by L? ligands to generate a two‐dimensional network with an sql topology, which is further stabilized by two types of intermolecular OW—HW…O hydrogen bonds to form a 3D supramolecular framework. MOFs ( 1 )–( 3 ) were also characterized by powder X‐ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy and thermogravimetic analysis. Furthermore, the solid‐state photoluminescence of HL and MOFs ( 1 ) and ( 2 ) have been investigated. The photoluminescence of MOFs ( 1 ) and ( 2 ) are enhanced and red‐shifted with respect to free HL. The gas adsorption investigation of MOF ( 2 ) indicates a good separation selectivity (71) of CO2/N2 at 273 K (i.e. the amount of CO2 adsorption is 71 times higher than N2 at the same pressure).  相似文献

A novel ion dissociation technique, which is capable of providing an efficient fragmentation of peptides at essential atmospheric pressure conditions, is developed. The fragmentation patterns observed often contain c‐type fragments that are specific to electron capture dissociation/electron transfer dissociation (ECD/ETD), along with the y‐/b‐type fragments that are specific to collision‐activated dissociation (CAD). In the presented experimental setup, ion fragmentation takes place within a flow reactor located in the atmospheric pressure region between the ion source and the mass spectrometer. According to a proposed mechanism, the fragmentation results from the interaction of ESI‐generated analyte ions with the gas‐phase radical species produced by a corona discharge source. A new tandem time‐of‐flight mass spectrometer with an electrospray ionization ion source ‘ESI‐TOF/quadTOF’ was designed and constructed to achieve the desired aim of structural elucidation via high‐energy collision‐induced dissociation (CID), and the simultaneous detection of all fragment ions. The instrument consists of an orthogonal acceleration‐type ESI ion source, a linear TOF mass spectrometer, a collision cell, a quadratic‐field ion mirror and a microchannel plate detector. High‐energy CID spectra of doubly protonated angiotensin II and bradykinin were obtained. Several fragment ions such as a‐, d‐, v‐ and w‐type ions, characteristic of high‐energy CID, were clearly observed in these spectra. These high‐energy CID fragment ions enabled confirmation of the complete sequence, including leucine–isoleucine determinations. It was demonstrated that high‐energy CID of multiply protonated peptides could be achieved in the ESI‐TOF/quadTOF. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A method was developed for the determination of nine volatile N‐nitrosamines in tobacco and smokeless tobacco products. The targets are N‐nitrosodimethylamine, N‐nitrosopyrrolidine, N‐nitrosopiperidine, N‐nitrosomorpholine, N‐nitrosoethylmethylamine, N‐nitrosodiethylamine, N‐nitrosodipropylamine, N‐nitrosobuylmethylmine, and N‐nitrosodibutylamine. The samples were treated by dispersive solid‐phase extraction using 1 g of primary secondary amine and 0.5 g of carbon and then analyzed by gas chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry with an electron impact ion source. The recoveries for the targets ranged from 84 to 118%, with <16% relative standard deviations at three spiking levels of 0.5, 1.25, and 2.5 ng/g. The limits of detection ranged from 0.03 to 0.15 ng/g. With the use of the proposed method, we detected the presence of six nitrosamines in the range of 0.4–30.7 ng/g. The study demonstrated that the method could be used as a rapid, convenient, and high‐throughput method for N‐nitrosamines analysis in tobacco matrix.  相似文献

Coordination polymers are a thriving class of functional solid‐state materials and there have been noticeable efforts and progress toward designing periodic functional structures with desired geometrical attributes and chemical properties for targeted applications. Self‐assembly of metal ions and organic ligands is one of the most efficient and widely utilized methods for the construction of CPs under hydro(solvo)thermal conditions. 2‐(Pyridin‐3‐yl)‐1H‐imidazole‐4,5‐dicarboxylate (HPIDC2−) has been proven to be an excellent multidentate ligand due to its multiple deprotonation and coordination modes. Crystals of poly[aquabis[μ3‐5‐carboxy‐2‐(pyridin‐3‐yl)‐1H‐imidazole‐4‐carboxylato‐κ5N1,O5:N3,O4:N2]copper(II)dicopper(I)], [CuIICuI2(C10H5N3O4)2(H2O)]n, (I), were obtained from 2‐(pyridin‐3‐yl)‐1H‐imidazole‐4,5‐dicarboxylic acid (H3PIDC) and copper(II) chloride under hydrothermal conditions. The asymmetric unit consists of one independent CuII ion, two CuI ions, two HPIDC2− ligands and one coordinated water molecule. The CuII centre displays a square‐pyramidal geometry (CuN2O3), with two N,O‐chelating HPIDC2− ligands occupying the basal plane in a trans geometry and one O atom from a coordinated water molecule in the axial position. The CuI atoms adopt three‐coordinated Y‐shaped coordinations. In each [CuN2O] unit, deprotonated HPIDC2− acts as an N,O‐chelating ligand, and a symmetry‐equivalent HPIDC2− ligand acts as an N‐atom donor via the pyridine group. The HPIDC2− ligands in the polymer serve as T‐shaped 3‐connectors and adopt a μ3‐κ2N,O2N′,O′:κN′′‐coordination mode, linking one CuII and two CuI cations. The Cu cations are arranged in one‐dimensional –Cu1–Cu2–Cu3– chains along the [001] direction. Further crosslinking of these chains by HPIDC2− ligands along the b axis in a –Cu2–HPIDC2−–Cu3–HPIDC2−–Cu1– sequence results in a two‐dimensional polymer in the (100) plane. The resulting (2,3)‐connected net has a (123)2(12)3 topology. Powder X‐ray diffraction confirmed the phase purity for (I), and susceptibilty measurements indicated a very weak ferromagnetic behaviour. A thermogravimetric analysis shows the loss of the apical aqua ligand before decomposition of the title compound.  相似文献

A simple, rapid and accurate ion‐exclusion chromatographic method coupled with a UV detector for the determination of uric acid in human urine samples has been developed. The separation was carried out on an ion‐exclusion column using only pure water as mobile phase. The detection wavelength was 254 nm and urine sample was injected directly without any pretreatment. Furthermore, the retention behavior of uric acid on the ion‐exclusion column was researched when pure water and 1 mmol·L?1 HCl were used as mobile phase, respectively. The stability of uric acid was also further investigated within 28 days. In this method, the linear range of the calibration curve for uric acid was 0.25–100 mg·L?1, and the detection limit calculated at S/N=3 was 0.02 mg·L?1. The proposed ion‐exclusion chromatographic method has been used for the determination of uric acid in human urine.  相似文献

The title compound, C6H9N2O2+·Cl·C6H8N2O2·H2O, contains one 2‐(3‐methyl‐1H‐imidazol‐3‐ium‐1‐yl)acetate inner salt molecule, one 1‐carboxymethyl‐3‐methyl‐1H‐imidazol‐3‐ium cation, one chloride ion and one water molecule. In the extended structure, chloride anions and water molecules are linked via O—H...Cl hydrogen bonds, forming an infinite one‐dimensional chain. The chloride anions are also linked by two weak C—H...Cl interactions to neighbouring methylene groups and imidazole rings. Two imidazolium moieties form a homoconjugated cation through a strong and asymmetric O—H...O hydrogen bond of 2.472 (2) Å. The IR spectrum shows a continuous D‐type absorption in the region below 1300 cm−1 and is different to that of 1‐carboxymethyl‐3‐methylimidazolium chloride [Xuan, Wang & Xue (2012). Spectrochim. Chitosan ( 1 ) was prepared by basic hydrolysis of chitin of an average molecular weight of 70000 Da, 1H‐NMR spectra indicating almost complete deacetylation. N‐Phthaloylation of 1 yielded the known N‐phthaloylchitosan ( 2 ), which was tritylated to provide 3a and methoxytritylated to 3b . Dephthaloylation of 3a with NH2NH2?H2O gave the 6‐O‐tritylated chitosan 4a . Similarly, 3b gave the 6‐O‐methoxytritylated 4b . CuSO4‐Catalyzed diazo transfer to 4a yielded 95% of the azide 5a , and uncatalyzed diazo transfer to 4b gave 82% of azide 5b . Further treatment of 5a with CuSO4 produced 2‐azido‐2‐deoxycellulose ( 7 ). Demethoxytritylation of 5b in HCOOH gave 2‐azido‐2‐deoxy‐3,6‐di‐O‐formylcellulose ( 6 ), which was deformylated to 7 . The 1,3‐dipolar cycloaddition of 7 to a range of phenyl‐, (phenyl)alkyl‐, and alkyl‐monosubstituted alkynes in DMSO in the presence of CuI gave the 1,2,3‐triazoles 8 – 15 in high yields.  相似文献

Desorption electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (DESI‐MS) has been applied to the direct analysis of sample media for target chemicals, including chemical warfare agents (CWA), without the need for additional sample handling. During the present study, solid‐phase microextraction (SPME) fibers were used to sample the headspace above five organophosphorus CWA, O‐isopropyl methylphosphonofluoridate (sarin, GB), O‐pinacolyl methylphosphonofluoridate (soman, GD), O‐ethyl N,N‐dimethyl phosphoramidocyanidate (tabun, GA), O‐cyclohexyl methylphosphonofluoridate (cyclohexyl sarin, GF) and O‐ethyl S‐2‐diisopropylaminoethyl methyl phosphonothiolate (VX) spiked into glass headspace sampling vials. Following sampling, the SPME fibers were introduced directly into a modified ESI source, enabling rapid and safe DESI of the toxic compounds. A SYNAPT HDMS? instrument was used to acquire time‐aligned parallel (TAP) fragmentation data, which provided both ion mobility and MSn (n = 2 or 3) data useful for the confirmation of CWA. Unique ion mobility profiles were acquired for each compound and characteristic product ions of the ion mobility separated ions were produced in the Triwave? transfer collision region. Up to six full scanning MSn spectra, containing the [M + H]+ ion and up to seven diagnostic product ions, were acquired for each CWA during SPME fiber analysis. A rapid screening approach, based on the developed methodology, was applied to several typical forensic media, including Dacron sampling swabs spiked with 5 µg of CWA. Background interference was minimal and the spiked CWA were readily identified within one minute on the basis of the acquired ion mobility and mass spectrometric data. Standard field desorption (FD) ionization is implemented under high vacuum condition. In this paper, non‐vacuum FD is performed under a super‐atmospheric pressure environment using untreated tungsten wires as FD emitter, and the ion source was coupled to a commercial linear ion trap mass spectrometer. The operating pressure of the ion source was 6 bars which was high enough to provide sufficient dielectric strength to the working gas so that the high voltage that was required for FD could be applied to the emitter without occurrence of electrical discharge. Non‐volatile sample deposited on the bare tungsten wire FD emitter was heated by flowing direct current through the emitter. Similar to vacuum FD, the formation of conical protrusion of the liquefied sample layer under the strong electric field was also observed. Using the present ion source, high pressure field‐desorption of polar neutral compounds, organic salts and ionic liquids is demonstrated. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
