Summary Nickel(II) complexes of four tridentate NNS Schiff base ligands, derived by condensing 2-acetyl-and 2-benzoylpyridine with S-methyl- and S-benzoyldithiocarbazate, have been prepared and characterized. The monoligated complexes, [Ni(NNS)X] (NNS = anionic ligand; X = Cl, Br, NCS, I) are diamagnetic and square-planar, whereas the bis-ligand complexes, [Ni(NNS)2] are paramagnetic and tetragonal. The Schiff bases are fungitoxic towards A. solani, F. equisetti and M. phaseolina (approaching the toxicity of the commercial fungicide Nystatin), but the nickel(II) complexes are less fungitoxic than the free ligands.  相似文献

Two new pyrimidine based NNS tridentate Schiff base ligands S-methyl-3-((2-S-methyl-6-methyl-4-pyrimidyl)methyl)dithiocarbazate [HL1] and S-benzyl-3-((2-S-methyl-6-methyl-4-pyrimidyl)methyl)dithiocarbazate [HL2] have been synthesised by the 1:1 condensation of 2-S-methylmercapto-6-methylpyrimidine-4-carbaldehyde and S-methyl/S-benzyl dithiocarbazate. A Ni(II) complex of HL1 and Co(III) and Fe(III) complexes of HL2 have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductivities, magnetic susceptibilities and spectroscopic studies. All the bis-chelate complexes have a distorted octahedral arrangement with an N4S2 chromophore around the central metal ion. Each ligand molecule binds the metal ion using the pyrimidyl and azomethine nitrogen and thiolato sulfur atoms (except in the nickel complex, one ligand molecule uses the thione sulfur in lieu of thiolato sulfur atom). In the Ni(II) complex, one of the ligand molecules behaves as a neutral tridentate and the other molecule functions as a uninegative tridentate, whereas in the Co(III) and Fe(III) complexes, the ligand molecules behave as monoanionic tridentate. All the complexes were analyzed by single crystal X-ray diffraction and significant differences concerning the distortion from an octahedral geometry of the coordination environment were observed.  相似文献

Two pyrimidine based NNS tridentate Schiff base ligands S-methyl-3-((2-S-methyl-6-methyl-4-pyrimidyl)methyl)dithiocarbazate [HL1] and S-benzyl-3-((2-S-methyl-6-methyl-4-pyrimidyl)methyl)dithiocarbazate [HL2] have been synthesised by 1:1 condensation of 2-S-methylmercapto-6-methylpyrimidine-4-carbaldehyde and S-methyl/S-benzyl dithiocarbazate. One Co(III) and one Mn(II) complex of HL1 and one Mn(II) complex of HL2 have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductivities, magnetic susceptibilities and spectroscopic studies. All the bis-chelate complexes have a distorted octahedral arrangement with an N4S2 chromophore around the central metal ion. Each ligand molecule binds the metal ion using pyrimidyl nitrogen, azomethine nitrogen and the thiolato sulfur atoms. In the free ligand moieties, the pyrimidine nitrogen atoms, azomethine nitrogen atoms and thione sulfur atoms are in EEE orientation to each other. During chelation, all the donor sites of the ligands are reoriented to ZEZ configuration in order to facilitate the chelation process. In all the complexes, the respective ligand molecule functions as the monoanionic tridentate one. All complexes were analyzed by single crystal X-ray diffraction and significant differences concerning the distortion from octahedral geometry of the coordination environment were observed.  相似文献

The preparation and characterization of three novel (4)N-monosubstituted bis(thiosemicarbazone) ligands of 3,5-diacetyl-1,2,4-triazol series and their dinuclear platinum complexes are described. The crystal and molecular structure of the [Pt(μ-H(3)L(3))](2) complex derived of 3,5-diacetyl-1,2,4-triazol bis((4)N-p-tolylthiosemicarbazone), H(5)L(3), has been resolved by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The ligands coordinate, in an asymmetric dideprotonate form, to the platinum ions in a tridentate fashion (NNS) and S-bridging bonding modes. Thus the molecular units of the platinum complexes are stacked as dimers. The new compounds synthesized have been evaluated for antiproliferative activity in vitro against NCI-H460, A2780 and A2780cisR human cancer cell lines. The cytotoxicity data suggest that these compounds may be endowed with important antitumour properties since are capable of not only circumventing cisplatin resistance in A2780cisR cells but also exhibit high antiproliferative activity in human non-small cell lung cancer NCI-H460 cells. The interactions of these compounds with calf thymus DNA was investigated by UV-vis absorption and a nephrotoxic study, in LLC-PK1 cells, has also been carried out.  相似文献

The synthesis and characterization is reported of four iron(III) complexes of general formula [Fe(pythsalX)(H2O)2]Cl2, derived from the NSNO-donor tetradentate Schiff base ligands pythsalHX ([5-X-N-(2-pyridylethylsulfanylethyl)salicylideneimine] (X = OMe, N2Ph, I, NO2). The complexes were characterized by physico-chemical and spectroscopic methods. The thermal stabilities of both the free Schiff bases and their complexes were studied by differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analyses. The spectroscopic data suggest that the Schiff base ligands coordinate through deprotonated phenolic oxygen, imine, and pyridine-type nitrogens and the thioether sulfur atoms to give an octahedral geometry around the iron(III) atom in all these complexes. The free Schiff bases and their complexes have been screened for antimicrobial activities and the results show that the free Schiff bases are more potent antibacterials than the complexes.  相似文献

The monobasic bidentate Schiff base complexes of palladium(II) and platinum(II) derived from 1H-indol-2,3-dione thiosemicarbazone (L1H) and 1H-indol-2,3-dione semicarbazone (L2H) have been characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, molecular weight determinations, i.r., 1H n.m.r. and u.v. spectral studies. Based on these studies a square planar environment around the metal atoms has been proposed. Antimicrobial effects of both the ligands and their complexes on different species of pathogenic fungi and bacteria have been recorded and these are found to possess significant fungicidal and bactericidal properties.  相似文献

Stable ruthenium(II) carbonyl complexes having the general composition [RuCl(CO)(PPh3)(B)(L)] (where B=PPh3, pyridine, piperidine or morpholine; L=anion of bidentate Schiff bases (Vanmet, Vanampy, Vanchx)) were synthesized from the reaction of [RuHCl(CO)(PPh3)2(B)] with bidentate Schiff base ligands derived from condensation of o-vanillin with primary amines such as methylamine, 2-aminopyridine and cyclohexylamine. The new complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV-Vis and 1H NMR spectral data. The redox property of the complexes were studied by cyclic voltammetric technique and the stability of the complexes towards oxidation were related to the electron releasing or electron withdrawing ability of the substituent in the phenyl ring of o-vanillin. An octahedral geometry has been assigned for all the complexes. In all the above reactions, the Schiff bases replace one molecule of PPh3 and hydride ion from the starting complexes, which indicate that the Ru-N bonds present in the complexes containing heterocyclic nitrogen bases are stronger than the Ru-P. The Schiff bases and their ruthenium(II) complexes have been tested in vitro to evaluate their activity against bacteria, viz., Staphylococcus aureus (209p) and E. coli (ESS 2231).  相似文献

Mixed-ligand complexes of general formula, [Cu(NNS)(sac)] (NNS′ = S-benzyl-β-N-(2-acetylpyrid-2-yl)methylenedithiocarbazate, NNS″ = S-benzyl-β-N-(2-benzoylpyrid-2-yl)methylenedithiocarbazate and NNS? = S-benzyl-β-N-(6-methylpyrid-2-yl)methylenedithio-carbazate, sac = the saccharinate anion) have been synthesized by reacting [Cu(sac)2(H2O)4] · 2H2O with the appropriate ligands in ethanol and characterized by various physico-chemical techniques. Magnetic and spectral evidence indicate that the complexes are four-coordinate in which the Schiff bases coordinate as NNS ligands and the sac- anion coordinates as a unidentate N-donor ligand. An X-ray crystallographic structural analysis of [Cu(NNS′)(sac)] shows that the complex has a distorted square-planar geometry with the Schiff base coordinated to the copper (II) ion as a uninegatively charged tridentate chelating agent via the pyridine nitrogen atom, the azomethine nitrogen atom and the thiolate sulphur atom while the fourth coordination position is occupied by the N-bonded saccharinate anion. The complexes have been evaluated for their biological activities against selected pathogens and cancer cell lines. They display weak activity against the pathogenic bacteria and fungi. The complexes were highly active against the leukemic cell line (HL-60) but only [Cu(NNS′)(sac)] was found to exhibit strong cytotoxicity against the ovarian cancer cell line (Caov-3). All complexes were inactive against the breast cancer cell line (MCF-7).  相似文献

The most imperative outcomes of extensive sterdies (synthesis, spectral, structural characterization and biological applications) of metal complexes with thiazole derived ligands are reviewed. A large number of coordination compounds are known but still there is a need of new compounds to develop various efforts in different fields for biomedical applications. The synthesis of Schiff base ligands is very important, and it has recently drawn the attention of numerous research groups, making this area constantly evolve. Authors are also synthesizing some novel biologically potent ligands and their unique complexes and complexes found more biological active agents than that of ligands against bacteria, fungi and herbs. Highlights: Schiff bases and their metal chelates catalyze reactions; Schiff bases derived from sulfane thiadiazole show toxicities against insects; Schiff bases of thiadiazole have good plant regulator activity; Phenyl ring attached to the thiazole group showed interesting structure activity.  相似文献

N-(thiophen-2-ylmethylene)benzo[d]thiazol-2-amine Schiff base (L) derived from 2-aminobenzothiazole and 2-thiophenecarboxaldehyde was synthesized and characterized using elemental analysis, IR, mass spectra, (1)H NMR and UV-vis spectra. Its complexes with Cu(II), Fe(III), Ni(II) and Zn(II) were prepared and isolated as solid products and characterized by elemental and thermal analyses, spectral techniques as well as magnetic susceptibility. The IR spectra showed that the Schiff base under investigation behaves as bidentate ligand. The UV-vis spectra and magnetic moment data suggested octahedral geometry around Cu(II) and Fe(III) and tetrahedral geometry around Ni(II) and Zn(II). In view of the biological activity of the Schiff base and its complexes, it has been observed that the antimicrobial activity of the Schiff base increased on complexation with the metal ion. In vitro antitumor activity assayed against five human tumor cell lines furnished the significant toxicities of the Schiff base and its complexes.  相似文献

Knoevenagel condensate Schiff base ligands [L = 3‐cinnamalideneacetylacetone‐thiosemicarbazone (CAT)/3‐cinnama‐ lideneacetylacetoneethylthiosemicarbazone (CAET)/3‐cinnamalideneacetylacetonephenylthiosemicarbazone (CAPT)] and their copper/zinc complexes were synthesized. They were characterized by analytical and spectral techniques. From these data it was found that the ligands adopt square‐planar geometry on metalation with Cu2+ and Zn2+. To evaluate the antitumor and cytotoxic activity of the synthesized complexes in mice and human cancer cell lines, the antitumor activity of the complexes was evaluated against an Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC) tumor model. The activity was assessed using survival time and short‐term in vitro cytotoxic activity. Oral administration of complexes (100 mg/kg) increased the survival time. The cytotoxic activity of complexes was evaluated using human breast cancer (MDA‐MB‐231), colon cancer (HCT‐116) and nonsmall lung cancer (NCI‐H‐23) cell lines. Both the complexes possessed significant antitumor and cytotoxic activity on EAC and human cancer cell lines. The in vitro antimicrobial screening effect of the investigated compounds was also tested against the various organisms by well diffusion method. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Copper(II) complexes of general formula, Cu(NNS)X 2 · nH2O (NNS = the 2-formylpyridine Schiff base of N-methyl-S-methyldithiocarbazate; X = Cl, Br, I, NCS; n = 0, 2) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and by magnetic and spectroscopic techniques. Based on magnetic and spectroscopic data, a monomeric five-coordinate square-pyramidal structure is assigned to these complexes. The crystal and molecular structure of [Cu(NNS)I2] has been determined by X-ray diffraction. The complex has a monomeric square-pyramidal structure with the ligand coordinated to the copper(II) ion via the pyridine nitrogen atom, the azomethine nitrogen atom and the thione sulfur atom. The fourth and fifth coordination sites are occupied by the iodide ligands. Antimicrobial tests indicate that Schiff base is inactive against the bacteria, Bacillus subtilis (mutant defective DNA repair), Pseudomonas aeruginosa, methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis (wild type) and weakly active against the fungi, Candida albicans, Candida lypolytica, Saccharomyces cereviseae and Aspergillus ochraceous but its copper(II) complexes, Cu(NNS)X 2 are strongly active against these organisms. A cytotoxicity study of the compounds against leukemic and cervical cancer cells showed that the Schiff base is inactive, but the complexes, [Cu(NNS)I2] and [Cu(NNS)(NCS)2] · 2H2O exhibit significant activity against cervical cancer cells with CD50 values of 4.8 and 4.2 g, respectively.  相似文献

New complexes of general formula, [M(NNS)Cl] (M = PdII, PtII; NNS = anionic forms of the 6-methyl-2-formylpyridine Schiff bases of S-methyl- and S-benzyldithiocarbazates) have been prepared and characterized by a variety of physico-chemical techniques. Based on conductance and spectral evidence, a square-planar structure is assigned to these complexes. The crystal and molecular structure of the [Pd(mpasme)Cl] complex (mpasme=anionic form of the 6-methyl-2-formylpyridine Schiff base of S-methyldithiocarbazate) has been determined by X-ray diffraction. The complex has a distorted square-planar geometry with the ligand coordinated to the palladium(II) ion via the pyridine nitrogen atom, the azomethine nitrogen atom and the thiolate sulfur atom; the fourth coordination position around the palladium(II) ion is occupied by the chloride ligand. The distortion from a regular square-planar geometry is ascribed to the restricted bite angle of the ligand. Both the Schiff bases exhibit strong cytotoxicity against the human ovarian cancer (Caov-3) cell lines, the S-methyl derivative being two times more active than the S-benzyl derivative. The [Pt(mpasme)Cl] complex is moderately active but the palladium(II) complex is weakly active against this cancer. None of the complexes of Hmpsbz are active against Caov-3. The Schiff base, Hmpasme exhibits moderate activity against the bacteria, MRSA, P. aeruginosa and S. typhimurium but is inactive against B. subtilis. Coordination of the ligand with palladium(II) substantially reduces its activity. The Schiff base, Hmpasbz and its palladium(II) and platinum(II) complexes are inactive against these bacteria. The Schiff bases and their palladium(II) and platinum (II) complexes are inactive against the pathogenic fungi, C. albican, Aspergillus ochraceous and Saccharomyces cerevisiae.  相似文献

Two new Schiff base ligands (L1, L2) have been prepared from the reaction of 2,6-diacetylpyridine and 2-pyridinecarboxyaldehyde with 4-amino-2,3-dimethyl-1-phenyl-3-pyrozolin-5-on, and their Co(II), Cu(II), Ni(II), Mn(II), and Cr(III) metal complexes have also been prepared. The complexes are formed by coordination of N and O atoms of the ligands. Their structures were characterized by physico-chemical and spectroscopic methods. The analytical data shows that the metal to ligand ratio in the Schiff base complexes is 1:2. The Schiff base ligands and all complexes were evaluated for their in vitro antibacterial and antifungal activities by the disc diffusion method. In addition, the genotoxic properties of the ligands were studied.  相似文献

Summary CuII, NiII, CoII, ZnII and PdII complexes of tridentate Schiff base ligands derived from the condensation of benzoic acid hydrazides with 2-aminonicotinaldehyde have been prepared and characterized. For M=Cu, Ni, Co and Zn the complexes were formulated as [M(ligand)(H2O)X] (X=Cl, Br), with a distorted octahedral geometry and tridentate Schiff base ligands. The Pd complexes were formulated as Pd(ligand)Cl2, with square planar geometries and bidentate Schiff base ligands. The e.s.r. spectra of the CuII complexes are discussed.  相似文献

Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), and Zn(II) metal complexes with new heterocyclic Schiff base derived from 1-amino-5-benzoyl-4-phenyl-1H-pyrimidine-2-one and 3-methoxysalicylaldehyde have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, electronic, IR, and 1H NMR spectra, and also by aid of molar conductivity measurements, magnetic moment measurements, and thermogravimetric analyses. It has been found that the Schiff base behaves as a neutral bidentate (NO) and tridentate (ONO) ligand forming chelates with 1 : 2 (metal : ligand) stoichiometry. Octahedral configuration is suggested for metal complexes. The conductivity data for the Ni(II) complexes are consistent with those expected for a 1 : 2 electrolyte.  相似文献

We have used a novel microwave-assisted method developed in our laboratories to synthesize a series of ruthenium-thiosemicarbazone complexes. The new thiosemicarbazone ligands are derived from benzo[d][1,3]dioxole-5-carbaldehyde (piperonal) and the complexes are formulated as [(diimine)(2)Ru(TSC)](PF(6))(2) (where the TSC is the bidentate thiosemicarbazone ligand). The diimine in the complexes is either 2,2'-bipyridine or 1,10-phenanthroline. The complexes have been characterized by spectroscopic means (NMR, IR and UV-Vis) as well as by elemental analysis. We have studied the biophysical characteristics of the complexes by investigating their anti-oxidant ability as well as their ability to disrupt the function of the human topoisomerase II enzyme. The complexes are moderately strong binders of DNA with binding constants of 10(4) M(-1). They are also strong binders of human serum albumin having binding constants on the order of 10(4) M(-1). The complexes show good in vitro anticancer activity against human colon cancer cells, Caco-2 and HCT-116 and indeed show some cytotoxic selectivity for cancer cells. The IC(50) values range from 7 - 159 μM (after 72 h drug incubation). They also have antibacterial activity against Gram-positive strains of pathogenic bacteria with IC(50) values as low as 10 μM; little activity was seen against Gram-negative strains. It has been established that all the compounds are catalytic inhibitors of human topoisomerase II.  相似文献

The condensation of 4-benzyloxybenzaldehyde with S-methyldithiocarbazate (SMDTC) yielded the Schiff base methyl-3-[(4-benzyloxyphenyl)methylene] dithiocarbazate (HL) that, upon reaction with different metal ions, afforded bis-chelated complexes, ML2 [where M=Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II) or Pd(II)]. The ligand and all the metal complexes were characterized by physico-chemical and spectroscopic methods. The Schiff base and its bis-chelated Ni(II) complex were characterized also by single crystal X-ray analyses. The crystallographic results show that the Schiff base exists in thione tautomeric form with the dithiocarbazate fragment adopting an EE configuration with respect to the C=N bond of the group. In the NiL2 complex, the metal is chelated by two mononegatively charged Schiff bases coordinating via the β-nitrogen and thiolate sulfur anion, generated in situ during the complexation process, and adopts a distorted square planar geometry.  相似文献
