Plasticized polymer electrolytes were prepared using poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO)/poly(vinylidene fluoridehexafluoro propylene)(PVd F-HFP) with lithium perchlorate(Li Cl O4) and different plasticizers. XRD and FTIR spectroscopic techniques were used to characterize the structure and the complexation of plasticizer with the host polymer matrix. The role of interaction between polymer hosts and plasticizer on conductivity is discussed using the results of alternating current(a.c.) impedance studies. TG-DTA and SEM were used for thermal and physical characterizations. Maximum ionic conductivity(3.26 × 10~(-4) S·cm~(-1)) has been observed for ethylene carbonate(EC)-based polymer electrolytes. Electrochemical performance of the plasticized polymer electrolyte is evaluated in LiFePO_4/plasticized polymer electrolytes(PPEs)/Li coin cell. Good performance with low capacity fading on charge discharge cycling is demonstrated.  相似文献

A new polymer with pendant hydroxyl groups, namely, poly(N-phenyl-2-hydroxytrime-thylene amine) (PHA), was synthesized by a direct condensation polymerization of aniline and epichlorohydrin in an alkaline medium. The new polymer is amorphous with a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 70°C. Blends of PHA with poly(ϵ-caprolactone) (PCL), as well as with two water-soluble polyethers, poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and poly(vinyl methyl ether) (PVME), were prepared by casting from a common solvent. It was found that all the three blends were miscible and showed a single, composition dependent glass transition temperature (Tg). FTIR studies revealed that PHA can form hydrogen bonds with PCL, PEO, and PVME, which are driving forces for the miscibility of the blends. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Two water-soluble binders of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and sodium alginate (SA) have been studied in comparison with N-methylpyrrolidone-soluble poly(vinylidene difluoride–co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVdF-HFP) to understand their effect on the electrochemical performance of a high-voltage lithium nickel manganese oxide (LNMO) cathode. The electrochemical performance has been investigated in full cells using a Li4Ti5O12 (LTO) anode. At room temperature, LNMO cathodes prepared with aqueous binders provided a similar electrochemical performance as those prepared with PVdF-HFP. However, at 55 °C, the full cells containing LNMO with the aqueous binders showed higher cycling stability. The results are supported by intermittent current interruption resistance measurements, wherein the electrodes with SA showed lower resistance. The surface layer formed on the electrodes after cycling has been characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The amount of transition metal dissolutions was comparable for all three cells. However, the amount of hydrogen fluoride (HF) content in the electrolyte cycled at 55 °C is lower in the cell with the SA binder. These results suggest that use of water-soluble binders could provide a practical and more sustainable alternative to PVdF-based binders for the fabrication of LNMO electrodes.  相似文献

Stable to atmospheric moisture, adhesive and transparent polymer electrolytes have been prepared by blending poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) with poly(propylene glycol)-425/LiCF3SO3 complexes. The blending of the polymers has been achieved by a method developed in our laboratory: free radical polymerization of methylmethacrylate in the polyether/salt matrix. A series of polymer blend complexes varying in PMMA content (up to 20% by weight) and oxygen/metal ratios (25, 16, and 8) have been synthesized and their properties studied. All the samples prepared in this study were found to be optically clear unlike the higher molecular weight poly(propylene glycol)-2000 (PPG-2000) system which required a minimum salt concentration to compatibilize a specific amount of PMMA with PPG. The mechanisms by which the salt holds the otherwise incompatible polymers together in a single phase have been investigated by FT-IR. Our studies show a weak coupling of the ether oxygens in the PPG with the ester groups of the PMMA through the lithium cations. Discrete changes has been observed in the FT-IR spectrum of PMMA when doped with the lithium salt hitherto unnoticed with other dopants. Gel permeation chromatography results of the PMMA samples isolated from the solid electrolytes indicate the molecular weight to vary between 43000 and 121000 with relatively narrow distributions, 1.6?2.0. The ionic conductivities of the polymer blend electrolytes were fairly high (10?5 S/cm) at room temperature. The PMMA neither significantly influenced the Tg of the blend complexes nor effected the ionic conductivities drastically. The ionic conductivity as a function of temperature followed the empirical Vogel-Tammann-Fulcher equation. The blending of PMMA with PPG/LiCF3SO3 complexes was found to impart good adhesiveness to the solid electrolytes while making them stable to atmospheric moisture. © 1992 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

The comparative studies on the miscibility and phase behavior between the blends of linear and star‐shaped poly(2‐methyl‐2‐oxazoline) with poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) were carried out in this work. The linear poly(2‐methyl‐2‐oxazoline) was synthesized by the ring opening polymerization of 2‐methyl‐2‐oxazoline in the presence of methyl p‐toluenesulfonate (MeOTs) whereas the star‐shaped poly(2‐methyl‐2‐oxazoline) was synthesized with octa(3‐iodopropyl) polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane [(IC3H6)8Si8O12, OipPOSS] as an octafunctional initiator. The polymers with different topological structures were characterized by means of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. It is found that the star‐shaped poly(2‐methyl‐2‐oxazoline) was miscible with poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF), which was evidenced by single glass‐transition temperature behavior and the equilibrium melting‐point depression. Nonetheless, the blends of linear poly(2‐methyl‐2‐oxazoline) with PVDF were phase‐separated. The difference in miscibility was ascribed to the topological effect of PMOx macromolecules on the miscibility. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Highly conductive solid polymeric electrolytes based upon low molecular weight poly(ethylene glycol) and ethylene oxide/propylene oxide copolymers blended with up to 50% by volume of poly(methyl methacrylate) have been synthesized using LiCF3SO3 (25:1 ether oxygen to cation ratio). Room-temperature ionic conductivities were measured to be in the range 10?4 to 10?5 S/cm for poly(methyl methacrylate) concentrations up to 30% by volume. In some cases, the addition of the poly(methyl methacrylate) enhanced the conductivity. All of the electrolytes studied were either amorphous or crystallized below 0°C. The variation of conductivity with temperature and polymer composition was measured and the results were analyzed in terms of effective medium theory and semiempirical considerations. Ionic transport is coupled to the structural relaxation of the polymer segments. At lower temperatures activated processes were required. Both charge carrier mobility and charge concentration were found to contribute to conduction. The effective medium theory quantitatively describes conductivities of amorphous heterogenous systems of limited miscibility (microphase separation) quite well. For miscible or partially crystalline systems other effects not incorporated in this theory play an important role, and conductivities are measured to be higher than theoretically predicted. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

The blend system containing a poly(vinylidene fluoride/trifluoroethylene) [P(VDF/TrFE)] copolymer (68/32 mol %) and poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) was miscible from the results of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) studies that exhibit the presence of a single, composition‐dependent glass transition temperature (Tg) and a strong melting point depression for the semicrystalline P(VDF/TrFE) component. However, differences between the DSC and dielectric measurements, which showed a separate P(VDF/TrFE) Tg peak, suggests that the P(VDF/TrFE)/PVAc blends are actually partially miscible. Because of the lower dielectric constant of PVAc and the reduced sample crystallinity caused by the addition of PVAc, both the dielectric constant and the remanent polarization of the copolymer blends decrease with increasing PVAc content. The presence of a small amount of PVAc stabilized the anomalous ferroelectric behavior of ice–water‐quenched P(VDF/TrFE), and the blend portrayed normal polarization reversal behavior after adding only 1 wt % PVAc. The piezoelectric response suggests small changes with an increasing number of poling cycles. It is believed that PVAc affects the DE hysteresis behavior at the interface between crystalline and amorphous phases, although much work remains to be done to confirm this hypothesis. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Macromolecule/laponite nanomaterials were studied by DSC and X-ray diffraction techniques. The matrices are poly(ethylene) glycols at various molecular masses and poly(ethylene oxides)-poly(propylene oxides)-poly(ethylene oxides) tri-block copolymers. The latter were tuned by modulating the molecular masses, at constant hydrophilic/hydrophobic ratio, and the hydrophilicity. For all the investigated systems, the enthalpy of melting (ΔH m) is nearly constant up to a given composition thereafter it increases monotonically reaching the value of the pure macromolecule. We proposed a model to interpret the DSC data. Briefly, it was invoked a mechanism of interaction following which some segments of the adsorbed macromolecule are anchored to the laponite (RD) particles and the remaining segments are radiating away from the surface. The portion of the macromolecule in contact with RD does not contribute to ΔH m whereas that radiating away from the clay does. Once that the RD surface is saturated, the excess of the macromolecule behaves like the pure one. The proposed model allowed to compute successfully the ΔH m values. The X-ray diffraction experiments ruled out the polymer intercalation between the silicate sheets.  相似文献

Summary: Results obtained recently on polymer electrolytes poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)/LiCF3SO3 and poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline) (POZ)/AgCF3SO3 by a combination of solid-state 13C and 1H NMR spectroscopy and DFT quantum-chemical calculations are discussed. Essentially the same local structure was found for the amorphous and crystalline phases of semicrystalline PEO/LiCF3SO3 polymer electrolyte. The amorphous POZ/AgCF3SO3 complex has a defined stoichiometry with two POZ monomeric units per one AgCF3SO3. A close contact between the metal salt and polymer was determined for both investigated systems from the Lee-Goldburg cross-polarization 1H → 13C dynamics.  相似文献

PVDF, poly(vinylidene fluoride), as a semi-crystalline polymer, has interesting electroactive properties but usual melt and solution processing techniques result in its thermodynamically favored non-polar α-phase. By comparison, poly(vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene) P(VDF-TrFE), PT for short, directly crystallizes in the polar β-phase under the same conditions as PVDF. In this study, blend thin films comprising PVDF and P(VDF-TrFE) were prepared by solvent casting method. The difference in the crystallization behavior is comprehensively investigated between the polymers: PVDF, P(VDF-TrFE), and the resulting blend films. It is found that replacement of the fluoride atom in TrFE monomer induces a strong steric hindrance that may alter the crystallization process to become more favorable for nucleation of the PVDF β-phase. To figure out the effect of TrFE content on the crystallization behavior and electroactive properties, films with different blend ratios of PVDF and P(VDF-TrFE) were prepared. We found that the PVDF films exhibit higher crystallization activation energy (ΔE) as PT content increases. The atomic force microscopy (AFM) in the piezoresponse force microscopy (PFM) mode illustrated that P5T5 films with equal contents of PVDF and P(VDF-TrFE) induced the highest d33 values.  相似文献

Polymer electrolytes which are adhesive, transparent, and stable to atmospheric moisture have been prepared by blending poly(methyl methacrylate)-g-poly(ethylene glycol) with poly(ethylene glycol)/LiCF3 SO3 complexes. The maximum ionic conductivities at room temperature were measured to be in the range of 10−4 to 10−5 s cm−1. The clarity of the sample was improved as the graft degree increased for all the samples studied. The graft degree of poly(methyl methacrylate)-g-poly(ethylene glycol) was found to be important for the compatibility between the poly(methyl methacrylate) segments in poly(methyl methacrylate)-g-poly(ethylene glycol) and the added poly(ethylene glycol), and consequently, for the ion conductivity of the polymer electrolyte. These properties make them promising candidates for polymer electrolytes in electrochromic devices. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Salt‐containing membranes based on polymethacrylates having poly(ethylene carbonate‐co‐ethylene oxide) side chains, as well as their blends with poly(vinylidene fluoride‐co‐hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF‐HFP), have been studied. Self‐supportive ion conductive membranes were prepared by casting films of methacrylate functional poly(ethylene carbonate‐co‐ethylene oxide) macromonomers containing lithium bis(trifluorosulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI) salt, followed by irradiation with UV‐light to polymerize the methacrylate units in situ. Homogenous electrolyte membranes based on the polymerized macromonomers showed a conductivity of 6.3 × 10?6 S cm?1 at 20 °C. The preparation of polymer blends, by the addition of PVDF‐HFP to the electrolytes, was found to greatly improve the mechanical properties. However, the addition led to an increase of the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the ion conductive phase by ~5 °C. The conductivity of the blend membranes was thus lower in relation to the corresponding homogeneous polymer electrolytes, and 2.5 × 10?6 S cm?1 was recorded for a membrane containing 10 wt % PVDF‐HFP at 20 °C. Increasing the salt concentration in the blend membranes was found to increase the Tg of the ion conductive component and decrease the propensity for the crystallization of the PVDF‐HFP component. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Block copolymers based on poly(vinylidene fluoride), PVDF, and a series of poly(aromatic sulfonate) sequences were synthesized from controlled radical polymerizations (CRPs). According to the aromatic monomers, appropriate techniques of CRP were chosen: either iodine transfer polymerization (ITP) or atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) from PVDF‐I macromolecular chain transfer agents (CTAs) or PVDF‐CCl3 macroinitiator, respectively. These precursors were produced either by ITP of VDF with C6F13I or by radical telomerization of VDF with chloroform, respectively. Poly(vinylidene fluoride)‐b‐poly(sodium styrene sulfonate), PVDF‐b‐PSSS, block copolymers were produced from both techniques via a direct polymerization of sodium styrene sulfonate (SSS) monomer or an indirect way with the use of styrene sulfonate ethyl ester (SSE) as a protected monomer. Although the reaction led to block copolymers, the kinetics of ITP of SSS showed that PVDF‐I macromolecular CTAs were not totally efficient because a limitation of the CTA consumption (56%) was observed. This was probably explained by both the low activity of the CTA (that contained inefficient PVDF‐CF2CH2? I) and a fast propagation rate of the monomer. That behavior was also noted in the ITP of SSE. On the other hand, ATRP of SSS initiated by PVDF‐CCl3 was more controlled up to 50% of conversion leading to PVDF‐b‐PSSS block copolymer with an average number molar mass of 6000 g·mol?1. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two sulfonyl group-containing bis(ether anhydride)s, 4,4′-[sulfonylbis(1,4-phenylene)dioxy]diphthalic anhydride ( IV ) and 4,4′-[sulfonylbis(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene)dioxy]diphthalic anhydride (Me- IV ), were prepared in three steps starting from the nucleophilic nitrodisplacement reaction of the bisphenolate ions of 4,4′-sulfonyldiphenol and 4,4′-sulfonylbis(2,6-dimethylphenol) with 4-nitrophthalonitrile in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF). High-molar-mass aromatic poly(ether sulfone imide)s were synthesized via a conventional two-stage procedure from the bis(ether anhydride)s and various aromatic diamines. The inherent viscosities of the intermediate poly(ether sulfone amic acid)s were in the ranges of 0.30–0.47 dL/g for those from IV and 0.64–1.34 dL/g for those from Me- IV. After thermal imidization, the resulting two series of poly(ether sulfone imide)s had inherent viscosities of 0.25–0.49 and 0.39–1.19 dL/g, respectively. Most of the polyimides showed distinct glass transitions on their differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) curves, and their glass transition temperatures (Tg) were recorded between 223–253 and 252–288°C, respectively. The results of thermogravimetry (TG) revealed that all the poly(ether sulfone imide)s showed no significant weight loss before 400°C. The methyl-substituted polymers showed higher Tg's but lower initial decomposition temperatures and less solubility compared to the corresponding unsubstituted polymers. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. This paper is an investigation on the thermo‐mechanical properties of a new class of materials, which holds promise for its potential use as solid polymer electrolytes, i.e., SPE material. A series of poly(ethylene oxide)‐polyurethane/poly(acrylonitrile) (PEO‐PU/PAN) semi‐IPNs, along with their LiClO4 salt complexes, were characterized for their thermal, mechanical and dimensional stability using DSC, TG‐DTA, UTM and DMTA. The glass transition temperature (Tg) of both the undoped and doped semi‐IPNs, obtained by DSC, remained well below room temperature (~?50°C to ?35°C), satisfying one of the essential requirements to serve as a SPE host matrix. The crystallization process in the PEO segments of the PEO‐PU/PAN semi‐IPNs was prevented at higher salt concentrations, which is attributed to the Li+ ion mediated pseudo‐crosslinks. Good thermal stability of the semi‐IPNs was evident from the degradation onset temperature (T0~240°C) with a three‐stage degradation process, which is independent of the PAN content as observed from differential thermogravimetric studies. The incorporation of PAN in the PEO‐PU networks results in improved mechanical properties, such as tensile strength and modulus while retaining the flexibility of the semi‐IPNs. The peak temperatures and storage modulus obtained from DMTA correlates well with the observations of DSC and tensile measurements.  相似文献

Microporous poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVdF) separators for lithium-ion batteries, used in liquid organic electrolytes, have been characterized with respect to the swelling phenomena on dense PVdF membranes (obtained through hot pressing). In the first and second parts of this study, we have described the swelling equilibria and swelling kinetics of dense PVdF. Here the thermal properties of PVdF gels and their irreversible modifications induced by swelling are characterized. Particular attention is paid to crystallinity modifications, polymer plasticization, and membrane degradation. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel SalenCoIII (2,4‐dinitrophenoxy) (Salen = N,N'‐bis(3,5‐di‐tert‐butylsalicylidene)‐1,2‐cyclohexanediamino) and 1,10‐phenanthroline monohydrate catalyst system was designed and employed for the copolymerization of CO2 and propylene oxide (PO). The perfectly alternating copolymerization of CO2 and PO proceeds effectively under middle temperature and pressure to yield poly(propylene carbonate) with a high yield and a high number average molecular weight of polymer. The structure of polymer was characterized by the IR and NMR measurements. The perfectly alternating copolymer was confirmed. The MALDI‐TOF spectrum insinuates that the copolymerization of CO2 and PO was initiated by H2O. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Miscibility behavior of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) [PHB]/poly(vinylidene chloride-co-acrylonitrile) [P(VDC-AN)] blends have been investigated by differential scanning calorimetry and optical microscopy. Each blend showed a single Tg, and a large melting point depression of PHB. All the blends containing more than 40% PHB showed linear spherulitic growth behavior and the growth rate decreased with P(VDC-AN) content. The interaction parameter χ12, obtained from melting point depression analysis, gave the value of −0.267 for the PHB/P(VDC-AN) blends. All results presented in this article lead to the conclusion that PHB/P(VDC-AN) blends are completely miscible in all proportions from a thermodynamic viewpoint. The miscibility in these blends is ascribed to the specific molecular interaction involving the carbonyl groups of PHB. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Effects of a strong‐interacting amorphous polymer, poly(4‐vinyl phenol) (PVPh), and an alkali metal salt, lithium perchlorate (LiClO4), on the amorphous and crystalline domains in poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) were probed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), optical microscopy (OM), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Addition of lithium perchlorate (LiClO4, up to 10% of the total mass) led to enhanced Tg's, but did not disturb the miscibility state in the amorphous phase of PEO/PVPh blends, where the salt in the form of lithium cation and ClO anion was well dispersed in the matrix. Competitive interactions between PEO, PVPh, and Li+ and ClO ions were evidenced by the elevation of glass transition temperatures and shifting of IR peaks observed for LiClO4‐doped PEO/PVPh blend system. However, the doping distinctly influenced the crystalline domains of LiClO4‐doped PEO or LiClO4‐doped PEO/PVPh blend system. LiClO4 doping in PEO exerted significant retardation on PEO crystal growth. The growth rates for LiClO4‐doped PEO were order‐of‐magnitude slower than those for the salt‐free neat PEO. Dramatic changes in spherulitic patterns were also seen, in that feather‐like dendritic spherulites are resulted, indicating strong interactions. Introduction of both miscible amorphous PVPh polymer and LiClO4 salt in PEO can potentially be a new approach of designing PEO as matrix materials for electrolytes. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The interaction between two similar plane double-layers for Al2(SO4)3 type asymmetric electrolytes was investigated with the aid of λ parameter method. The interaction energies for the system at positive surface potential were expanded in the power series at low and high potential, respectively. The high potential formula can be applied to 0.2 ≤ ye  < y 0 ≤ 20. This almost covers with the bounds of all potential, and that the calculative method is relative simple. The accurate numeral results and V′?ξd curves were given for y 0 ≤ 20. When y 0 ≥ 5, V′ hardly change with y 0. The interaction energies between two similar plane parallel double layers for the different type electrolytes at y 0 = 1 were compared. The present results are also fit for Mg3(PO4)2 type electrolytes at negative surface potential.  相似文献
