Stille-type cross-coupling procedures are utilized in order to prepare a variety of functionalized 2,2'-bipyridines and 2,2':6',2' '-terpyridines. Such N-heterocyclic compounds are of great interest as chelating ligands for transition-metal ions in the field of supramolecular chemistry. Various mono- and disubstitued 2,2'-bipyridines were synthesized in high yields and multigram scales using a modular design principle. The terpyridines may be functionalized in one step with different substituents at the outer pyridine rings and at the 4'-position of the centered ring, leading to multifunctionalized compounds. The initially obtained methyl ester and ethyl ester groups can be simply converted into bromomethyl and hydroxymethyl groups which allow further functionalization reactions.  相似文献

The nature and properties of the low-lying singlet and triplet valence excited states of 2,2':5',2'-terthiophene (terthiophene) and 2,2':5',2':5',2'-quaterthiophene (tetrathiophene) are discussed on the basis of high-level ab initio computations. The spectroscopic features determined experimentally for short alpha-oligothiophenes are rationalised on theoretical grounds. Special attention is devoted to the nonradiative decay process through intersystem crossing (ISC) from the singlet to the triplet manifold, which is known to be relatively less efficient in tetrathiophene. Along the geometry relaxation of the S1 state of terthiophene, the S1 and T2 states become degenerate, which leads to a favourable situation for the occurrence of ISC. The parallel process is expected to be less favoured in tetrathiophene because of the less efficient spin-orbit coupling and the increase of the S1-T2 energy gap.  相似文献

The title molecule, 2,2';9',2'-ter[1,10]phenanthroline can be prepared from 2,9-dichloro-1,10-phenanthroline in three steps through the corresponding diacetyl intermediate. The ligand acts as a hexadentate with K+, while two molecules form a trinuclear, helical complex with Cu(I), which evidences pi-stacking interactions and Cu-Cu distances of 3.01-3.04 A. A set of rigid, pi-conjugated linear mono- and bisterpyridines and star-shaped tristerpyridines have been synthesized using Pd(0)-catalyzed coupling reactions and the Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons reaction. The synthesis of trisubstituted 4',5,5' terpyridines is described. The strategy begins with synthesis of 2-acetyl-5-bromopyridine (3) from 2,5-dibromopyridine, substitution of the bromine in 3 using a variety of metal-catalyzed reactions and then formation of the terpyridine using the Krohnke reaction. The complexes have been prepared by reaction of [Pt(PhCN)(2)Cl(2)] with the appropriate silver salt followed by addition of the terpyridyl ligand. The crystal structure of two complexes have been determined via X-ray diffraction and the MLCT (metal-to-ligand charge-transfer) emissions determined by UV/Vis spectroscopy.  相似文献

A new N-heterocyclic complex of ytterbocene (Cp(2)Yb(II), Cp = C(5)Me(5)) has been prepared by the addition of 4'-cyano-2,2':6',2' '-terpyridine (tpyCN) to Cp(2)Yb(II)(OEt(2)) in toluene to give a dark blue species designated as Cp(2)Yb(tpyCN). The effect of the electron-withdrawing group (-CN) on the redox potentials of the charge-transfer form of this complex [in which an electron is transferred from the f(14) metal center to the lowest unoccupied (pi) molecular orbital of the tpyCN ligand to give a 4f(13)-pi(1) electronic configuration] has been quantified by cyclic voltammetry. The tpyCN ligand stabilizes this configuration by 60 mV more than that in the unsubstituted tpy ligand complex and by 110 mV more than that in the unsubstituted bpy ligand complex. Magnetic susceptibility measurements corroborate the enhanced stabilization of the 4f(13)-pi(1) configuration by the substituted terpyridyl ligand complex. Furthermore, the temperature dependence of the magnetic data is most consistent with a thermally induced valence tautomeric equilibrium between this paramagnetic 4f(13)-pi(1) form that dominates near room temperature and the diamagnetic 4f(14)-pi(0) form that dominates at low temperature. Differing coordination modes for the tpyCN ligand to the ytterbocene center have also been confirmed by isolation and X-ray crystallographic characterization of complexes binding through either the cyano nitrogen of tpyCN or the three terpyridyl nitrogen atoms of tpyCN.  相似文献

We report on transient photo-induced structural changes of 2,2':5',2'-terthiophene (3T) adsorbed on silver nanoparticles. Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) data show that the film thickness predetermines the eventual course of these changes. In particular, for high molecular concentrations (thick adsorbate layers), illumination leads to a photoinduced polymerization of the 3T film. For thin layers ( approximately monolayer coverage), the photoinduced spectral evolution is qualitatively different. We interpret the latter process as a cleavage of the terthiophene molecule, resulting in isolated thiophene units. Calculations of excitation energies for 3T + 3Ag+ and 1T + Ag+ revealed visible transitions, while calculated Raman frequencies indicated 1T as a possible photoproduct. As no photoinduced transformations are observed for 3T in the solid or solution phases, it is likely that the processes reported here originate in surface-enhanced charge-transfer between the Ag-surface and the organic adsorbate.  相似文献
