Four ring‐shaped silafluorene‐containing compounds ( 1 – 4 ) were synthesized and characterized as potentially promising monomers for fluorescent polymers. Their optical properties in solution and solid state (thin film and powder) were studied. These compounds have low quantum yields in solution (Φfl=0.13‐0.15) with fluorescence maxima at about 355 nm, but high quantum yields in the solid state (powder, Φfl=0.35‐0.54) with fluorescence maxima at about 377 and 488 nm. Influence of the substituents and the number of silafluorene units in 1 – 4 on their optical properties was investigated. Extensive study of the X‐ray crystal structures of 1 – 4 was undertaken to analyze and qualitatively estimate the role, extent, and influence of silafluorene moieties’ interactions on solid‐state fluorescent properties. Excited state UV/Vis and theoretical molecular orbital (MO) calculations were performed to explore possible fluorescence mechanisms and differences in quantum yields among these compounds.  相似文献

A V‐shaped bisanthracene derivative with three butyl groups formed two types of emissive solids that display bluish green and blue fluorescence (ΦF=72 and 32 %, respectively), depending on the preparation conditions. The crystal and powder X‐ray analyses reveal that the highly emissive solid adopts a head‐to‐head arrangement with discrete stacks of the anthracene moieties, whereas the moderately emissive solid adopts a head‐to‐tail arrangement without the stacks. The obtained molecular arrangements are transformed by thermal stimuli accompanying the change in fluorescence. Furthermore, large enhancements of dye emissions (12–45‐fold) through highly efficient host–guest energy transfer were achieved in the solid state by adding minute amounts of various fluorescent dyes (e.g. rubrene and Nile red) to the V‐shaped compound.  相似文献

Pyrimidine‐based diboron complexes bearing β‐iminoenolate ligands and phenyl groups as bulky substituents on the boron atoms were synthesized as novel fluorescent dyes, and their fluorescence properties were investigated in solution and in the solid state. The diboron complexes with donor–π–acceptor structures showed positive solvatochromism in the fluorescence spectra. The cyano derivative exhibited the most dramatic redshift of the fluorescence maximum Fmax with increasing solvent polarity (from 551 nm in n‐hexane to 710 nm in acetonitrile). The diboron complexes showed solid‐state fluorescence in the range of 578–706 nm with fluorescence quantum yields of 0.06–0.28. Additionally, the trifluoromethyl derivative exhibited solvent‐inclusion solid‐state fluorescence. The trifluoromethyl derivative formed toluene‐inclusion and ethyl acetate‐inclusion crystals. The toluene‐inclusion crystal (Fmax=668 nm, Φf=0.16) showed a blueshifted Fmax and higher Φf value compared to the original trifluoromethyl derivative (Fmax=694 nm, Φf=0.08) in the solid state. On the other hand, the Fmax (709 nm) and Φf (0.04) values of the ethyl acetate‐inclusion crystal were redshifted and lower, respectively.  相似文献

Several carbazole‐based boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) dyes were synthesized by organometallic approaches. Thiazole, benzothiazole, imidazole, benzimidazole, triazole, and indolone substituents were introduced at the 1‐position of the carbazole moiety, and boron complexation of each dipyrrin generated the corresponding compounds 1 , 2 a , and 3 – 6 . The properties of these products were investigated by UV/Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, X‐ray crystallography, and DFT calculations. These compounds exhibited large Stokes shifts, and compounds 1 , 2 a , and 3 – 5 fluoresced both in solution and in the solid state. Complex 2 a showed the highest fluorescence quantum yield (ΦF) in the solid state, therefore boron complexes of the carbazole–benzothiazole hybrids 2 b – f , which had several different substituents, were prepared and the effects of the substituents on the photophysical properties of the compounds were examined. The fluorescence properties showed good correlation with the results of crystal‐packing analyses, and the dyes exhibited color‐tunable solid‐state fluorescence.  相似文献

2,3,4,5‐Tetraarylsiloles are a class of important luminogenic materials with efficient solid‐state emission and excellent electron‐transport capacity. However, those exhibiting outstanding electroluminescence properties are still rare. In this work, bulky 9,9‐dimethylfluorenyl, 9,9‐diphenylfluorenyl, and 9,9′‐spirobifluorenyl substituents were introduced into the 2,5‐positions of silole rings. The resulting 2,5‐difluorenyl‐substituted siloles are thermally stable and have low‐lying LUMO energy levels. Crystallographic analysis revealed that intramolecular π–π interactions are prone to form between 9,9′‐spirobifluorene units and phenyl rings at the 3,4‐positions of the silole ring. In the solution state, these new siloles show weak blue and green emission bands, arising from the fluorenyl groups and silole rings with a certain extension of π conjugation, respectively. With increasing substituent volume, intramolecular rotation is decreased, and thus the emissions of the present siloles gradually improved and they showed higher fluorescence quantum yields (ΦF=2.5–5.4 %) than 2,3,4,5‐tetraphenylsiloles. They are highly emissive in solid films, with dominant green to yellow emissions and good solid‐state ΦF values (75–88 %). Efficient organic light‐emitting diodes were fabricated by adopting them as host emitters and gave high luminance, current efficiency, and power efficiency of up to 44 100 cd m?2, 18.3 cd A?1, and 15.7 lm W?1, respectively. Notably, a maximum external quantum efficiency of 5.5 % was achieved in an optimized device.  相似文献

We designed, synthesized, and evaluated environmentally responsive solvatochromic fluorescent dyes by incorporating weak push–pull moieties. The quantum yields of the push (alkyl)–pull (formyl) pyrene dyes were dramatically enhanced by the introduction of alkyl groups into formylpyrene (1‐formylpyrene: ΦF=0.10; 3,6,8‐tri‐n‐butyl‐1‐formylpyrene: ΦF=0.90; in MeOH). The new dyes exhibited unique sensitivity to solvent polarity and hydrogen‐bond donor ability, and specific fluorescence turn‐on/off properties (e.g., 3,6,8‐tri‐n‐butyl‐1‐formylpyrene: ΦF=0.004, 0.80, 0.37, and 0.90 in hexane, chloroform, DMSO, and MeOH, respectively). Here, the alkyl groups act as weak donors to suppress intersystem crossing by destabilizing the HOMOs of 1‐formylpyrene while maintaining weak intramolecular charge‐transfer properties. By using alkyl groups as weak donors, environmentally responsive, and in particular, pH‐responsive fluorescent materials may be developed in the future.  相似文献

A dramatic change of solid-state fluorescence properties triggered by molecular arrangements of anthracene moieties was obtained by using organic salts of ADS with primary amines, indicating that modification of the amines enables us to tune the properties.  相似文献

A host framework for inclusion of various guest molecules was investigated by preparation of inclusion crystals of 1,8‐bis(4‐aminophenyl)anthracene (1,8‐BAPA) with organic solvents. X‐ray crystallographic analysis revealed construction of the same inclusion space incorporating 1,8‐BAPA and eight guest molecules including both non‐polar (benzene) and polar guests (N,N‐dimethylformamide, DMF). Fluorescence efficiencies varied depending on guest molecule polarity; DMF inclusion crystals exhibited the highest fluorescence intensity (ΦF=0.40), four times as high as that of a benzene inclusion crystal (ΦF=0.10). According to systematic investigations of inclusion phenomena, strong host–guest interactions and filling of the inclusion space led to a high fluorescence intensity. Temperature‐dependent fluorescence spectral measurements revealed these factors effectively immobilised the host framework. Although hydrogen bonding commonly decreases fluorescence intensity, the present study demonstrated that such strong interactions provide excellent conditions for fluorescence enhancement. Thus, this remarkable behaviour has potential application toward sensing of highly polar molecules, such as biogenic compounds.  相似文献

The construction and precise control of the face‐to‐face π‐stacked arrangements of anthracene fluorophores in the crystalline state led to a remarkable red shift in the fluorescence spectrum due to unprecedented excited oligomer formation. The arrangements were regulated by using organic salts including anthracene‐1,5‐disulfonic acid (1,5‐ADS) and a variety of aliphatic amines. Because of the smaller number of hydrogen atoms at the edge positions and the steric effect of the sulfonate groups, 1,5‐ADS should prefer face‐to‐face π‐stacked arrangements over the usual edge‐to‐face herringbone arrangement. Indeed, as the alkyl substituents were lengthened, the organic salts altered their anthracene arrangement to give two‐dimensional (2D) edge‐to‐face and end‐to‐face herringbone arrangements, one‐dimensional (1D) face‐to‐face zigzag and slipped stacking arrangements, a lateral 1D face‐to‐face arrangement like part of a brick wall, and a discrete monomer arrangement. The monomer arrangement behaved as a dilute solution even in the close‐packed solid state to emit deep blue light. The 1D face‐to‐face zigzag and slipped stacking of the anthracene fluorophores caused a red shift of 30–40 nm in the fluorescence emission with respect to the discrete arrangement, probably owing to ground‐state associations. On the other hand, the 2D end‐to‐face stacking induced a larger red shift of 60 nm, which is attributed to the excimer fluorescence. Surprisingly, the brick‐like lateral face‐to‐face arrangement afforded a remarkable red shift of 150 nm to give yellow fluorescence. This anomalous red shift is probably due to excited oligomer formation in such a lateral 1D arrangement according to the long fluorescence lifetime and little shift in the excitation spectrum. The regulation of the π‐stacked arrangement of anthracene fluorophores enabled the wide modulation of the fluorescence and a detailed investigation of the relationships between the photophysical properties and the arrangements.  相似文献

This article describes a series of nine complexes of boron difluoride with 2′‐hydroxychacone derivatives. These dyes were synthesized very simply and exhibited intense NIR emission in the solid state. Complexation with boron was shown to impart very strong donor–acceptor character into the excited state of these dyes, which further shifted their emission towards the NIR region (up to 855 nm for dye 5 b , which contained the strongly donating triphenylamine group). Strikingly, these optical features were obtained for crystalline solids, which are characterized by high molecular order and tight packing, two features that are conventionally believed to be detrimental to luminescence in organic crystals. Remarkably, the emission of light from the π‐stacked molecules did not occur at the expense of the emission quantum yield. Indeed, in the case of pyrene‐containing dye 4 , for example, a fluorescence quantum yield of about 15 % with a fluorescence emission maximum at 755 nm were obtained in the solid state. Moreover, dye 3 a and acetonaphthone‐based compounds 1 b , 2 b , and 3 b showed no evidence of degradation as solutions in CH2Cl2 that contained EtOH. In particular, solutions of brightly fluorescent compound 3 a (brightness: ε×Φf=45 000 M ?1 cm?1) could be stored for long periods without any detectable changes in its optical properties. All together, these new dyes possess a set of very interesting properties that make them promising solid‐state NIR fluorophores for applications in materials science.  相似文献

Three new anthracene derivatives [2‐chloro‐9,10‐dip‐tolylanthracene (DTACl), 9,10‐dip‐tolylanthracene‐2‐carbonitrile (DTACN), and 9,10‐di(naphthalen‐1‐yl)anthracene‐2‐carbonitrile (DNACN)] were synthesized as triplet acceptors for low‐power upconversion. Their linear absorption, single‐photon‐excited fluorescence, and upconversion fluorescence properties were studied. The acceptors exhibit high fluorescence yields in DMF. Selective excitation of the sensitizer PdIIoctaethylporphyrin (PdOEP) in solution containing DTACl, DTACN, or DNA‐CN at 532 nm with an ultralow excitation power density of 0.5 W cm?2 results in anti‐Stokes blue emission. The maximum upconversion quantum yield (ΦUC=17.4 %) was obtained for the couple PdOEP/DTACl. In addition, the efficiency of the triplet–triplet energy transfer process was quantitatively studied by quenching experiments. Experimental results revealed that a highly effective acceptor for upconversion should combine high fluorescence quantum yields with efficient quenching of the sensitizer triplet.  相似文献

A polyaromatic tube with a subnanometer‐sized cavity was efficiently prepared on a gram‐scale through the stereo‐controlled cyclotrimerization of a diphenylanthracene derivative as a key step. The facile exterior alkylation of the polyaromatic framework leads to a moderately fluorescent tube (R=‐OC10H21; ΦF=20 %) in the solid state. The emission intensity of the solid‐state alkyl‐substituted tube is remarkably enhanced upon heating (up to 1.6 times, ΦF=31 %) as well as doping with fluorescent dyes (up to 4.2 times, ΦF=83 %) through efficient energy transfer.  相似文献

Seven derivatives of 1,2‐dicarbadodecaborane (ortho‐carborane, 1,2‐C2B10H12) with a 1,3‐diethyl‐ or 1,3‐diphenyl‐1,3,2‐benzodiazaborolyl group on one cage carbon atom were synthesized and structurally characterized. Six of these compounds showed remarkable low‐energy fluorescence emissions with large Stokes shifts of 15100–20260 cm?1 and quantum yields (ΦF) of up to 65 % in the solid state. The low‐energy fluorescence emission, which was assigned to a charge‐transfer (CT) transition between the cage and the heterocyclic unit, depended on the orientation (torsion angle, ψ) of the diazaborolyl group with respect to the cage C? C bond. In cyclohexane, two compounds exhibited very weak dual fluorescence emissions with Stokes shifts of 15660–18090 cm?1 for the CT bands and 1960–5540 cm?1 for the high‐energy bands, which were assigned to local transitions within the benzodiazaborole units (local excitation, LE), whereas four compounds showed only CT bands with ΦF values between 8–32 %. Two distinct excited singlet‐state (S1) geometries, denoted S1(LE) and S1(CT), were observed computationally for the benzodiazaborolyl‐ortho‐carboranes, the population of which depended on their orientation (ψ). TD‐DFT calculations on these excited state geometries were in accord with their CT and LE emissions. These C‐diazaborolyl‐ortho‐carboranes were viewed as donor–acceptor systems with the diazaborolyl group as the donor and the ortho‐carboranyl group as the acceptor.  相似文献

The traditional design strategies for highly bright solid‐state luminescent materials rely on weakening the intermolecular π–π interactions, which may limit diversity when developing new materials. Herein, we propose a strategy of tuning the molecular packing mode by regioisomerization to regulate the solid‐state fluorescence. TBP‐e‐TPA with a molecular rotor in the end position of a planar core adopts a long‐range cofacial packing mode, which in the solid state is almost non‐emissive. By shifting molecular rotors to the bay position, the resultant TBP‐b‐TPA possesses a discrete cross packing mode, giving a quantum yield of 15.6±0.2 %. These results demonstrate the relationship between the solid‐state fluorescence efficiency and the molecule's packing mode. Thanks to the good photophysical properties, TBP‐b‐TPA nanoparticles were used for two‐photon deep brain imaging. This molecular design philosophy provides a new way of designing highly bright solid‐state fluorophores.  相似文献

The compound 5,12‐diacetyl‐5,12‐dihydroquinoxalino[2,3‐b]quinoxaline 1 a and its derivatives were prepared, and their solid‐ and solution‐state spectroscopic properties were studied; 1 a shows stronger fluorescence in solution than in the solid state due to aggregation caused by self‐quenching. Phenyl‐ or alkoxy‐substituted derivatives 1 b – d show solid‐state fluorescence with moderate quantum yields of about Φ=0.12–0.15, although the corresponding values are 0.01–0.07 in solution. The spectroscopic properties of alkoxy‐substituted derivatives were hardly changed compared to 1 a and 1 b , although 1 a and 1 b have similar absorption and fluorescence maxima in solution and in the solid state. DFT calculations indicate that orbital switching occurs between HOMO and HOMO‐1 and HOMO‐2 due to orbital interactions with introduced substituents. Crystal structure analysis revealed that the molecules have bent structures around tertiary nitrogen atoms and form a characteristic dimeric structure.  相似文献

The facile synthesis of Group 9 RhIII porphyrin‐aza‐BODIPY conjugates that are linked through an orthogonal Rh?C(aryl) bond is reported. The conjugates combine the advantages of the near‐IR (NIR) absorption and intense fluorescence of aza‐BODIPY dyes with the long‐lived triplet states of transition metal rhodium porphyrins. Only one emission peak centered at about 720 nm is observed, irrespective of the excitation wavelength, demonstrating that the conjugates act as unique molecules rather than as dyads. The generation of a locally excited (LE) state with intramolecular charge‐transfer (ICT) character has been demonstrated by solvatochromic effects in the photophysical properties, singlet oxygen quantum yields in polar solvents, and by the results of density functional theory (DFT) calculations. In nonpolar solvents, the RhIII conjugates exhibit strong aza‐BODIPY‐centered fluorescence at around 720 nm (ΦF=17–34 %), and negligible singlet oxygen generation. In polar solvents, enhancements of the singlet‐oxygen quantum yield (ΦΔ=19–27 %, λex=690 nm) have been observed. Nanosecond pulsed time‐resolved absorption spectroscopy confirms that relatively long‐lived triplet excited states are formed. The synthetic methodology outlined herein provides a useful strategy for the assembly of functional materials that are highly desirable for a wide range of applications in material science and biomedical fields.  相似文献

Although isoquinoline is a good traditional fluorescent structural unit, most of its derivatives emit fluorescence in solution and a few of them can emit solid‐state fluorescence as well. Herein, a series of multisubstituted 1‐aminoisoquinoline derivatives were synthesized by a simple reaction of a readily available 4H‐pyran derivative and secondary amines. The reaction had advantages of metal‐free, mild conditions, simple operation, and good yields, which was realized by a ring‐opening and sequential ring‐closing mechanism. These 1‐aminoisoquinoline derivatives were found to exhibit interesting dual‐state emissions. In the solution, they emitted strong blue fluorescence at about 458 nm. In the solid state, they emitted solid‐state blue fluorescence at 444–468 nm with high fluorescence quantum yields of 40.3–98.1%. Crystal structural analyses indicated that solid‐state emissions of these compounds originated from twisted molecular conformations and the resultant loose stacking arrangements. Furthermore, their solid‐state fluorescence wavelengths were demonstrated to depend on molecular conformations rather than stacking arrangements. The discovery of these 1‐aminoisoquinolines with multiple reaction sites provides new possibilities for the development of solid‐state fluorescent materials based on the traditional isoquinoline skeleton.  相似文献

A series of boron ketoiminate derivatives that exhibited clear aggregation‐induced emission (AIE) characteristics (in THF: ΦPL≤0.01; in the solid state: ΦPL=0.30–0.76) were prepared by the reactions of 1,3‐enaminoketone derivatives with boron trifluoride–diethyl etherate. The structures and optical properties were investigated by UV‐visible spectroscopy, photoluminescent (PL) spectroscopy, and X‐ray single‐crystal measurements. These results indicate that the AIE characteristics were derived from molecular motions of the boron‐chelating rings with a boron? nitrogen (B? N) bond. Furthermore, the optical properties were controllable by steric hindrance of the substituted groups on the nitrogen atom.  相似文献

The development of disilane‐bridged donor–acceptor–donor (D‐Si‐Si‐A‐Si‐Si‐D) and acceptor–donor–acceptor (A‐Si‐Si‐D‐Si‐Si‐A) compounds is described. Both types of compound showed strong emission (λem=ca. 500 and ca. 400 nm, respectively) in the solid state with high quantum yields (Φ: up to 0.85). Compound 4 exhibited aggregation‐induced emission enhancement in solution. X‐ray diffraction revealed that the crystal structures of 2 , 4 , and 12 had no intermolecular π–π interactions to suppress the nonradiative transition in the solid state.  相似文献

In this contribution, we report on a class of emitters based on bridged oxo- and/or thioethers revealing striking photoluminescence properties in fluid solution and in the solid state. In total, nine compounds were investigated concerning their photophysical properties, which were interpreted by quantum chemical calculations. To our delight, we discovered compounds possessing nearly identical photoluminescence quantum yields (ΦF) in solution and in the solid state, which has been rarely reported so far. Besides these efforts, we shed light on the influence of polymorphism and solvent polarity on the emission properties. In addition, an in-depth X-ray diffractometric analysis was conducted to correlate molecular packing in the crystal with differences in the photophysical properties.  相似文献
