Delving into digallides : The characteristics of the chemical bonding of the digallides of the alkaline‐earth metals (see figure) have been studied by application of experimental methods, such as single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction and solid‐state NMR spectroscopy, in combination with quantum mechanical calculations.
Borenes and boranes : Silylaminoiminoborenes, such as depicted, were isolated after treatment of halogen triels with silylaminofluoroboranes. In addition, novel aryl‐ and silyl‐substituted diaminofluoroboranes were also prepared in order to substantiate this reaction route.
Fluorescent building blocks : Tetracarboxyamides with a central fluorescent diaminoterephthalate unit were prepared from succinyl succinates following a combinatorial‐like strategy. The 2,5‐diaminoterephthalates (see scheme; PG=protecting group) possess four points of diversification and are introduced as new scaffolds for combinatorial chemistry.
Gallant exchange : Upon coordination of phosphanyl gallane ligands to AuCl, both neutral and zwitterionic complexes coexist. NMR spectroscopy provides direct evidence for the transfer of the chloride between gold and gallium in diphosphanyl gallane. The introduction of a third phosphanyl buttress allows the separation and structural characterization of the two coordination isomers (see picture; Au yellow, P red, Cl green, Ga blue).
