A simple, one‐step, supramolecular strategy was adopted to synthesize SnIV‐porphyrin‐based axially bonded triads and higher oligomers by using meso‐pyridyl SnIV porphyrin, meso‐hydroxyphenyl‐21,23‐dithiaporphyrin, and RuII porphyrin as building blocks and employing complementary and non‐interfering SnIV?O and RuII ??? N interactions. The multiporphyrin arrays are stable and robust and were purified by column chromatography. 1H, 1H–1H COSY and NOESY NMR spectroscopic studies were used to unequivocally deduce the molecular structures of SnIV‐porphyrin‐based triads and higher oligomers. Absorption and electrochemical studies indicated weak interaction among the different porphyrin units in triads and higher oligomers, in support of the supramolecular nature of the arrays. Steady‐state fluorescence studies on triads indicated the possibility of energy transfer in the singlet state from the basal SnIV porphyrin to the axial 21,23‐dithiaporphyrin. However, the higher oligomers were weakly fluorescent due to the presence of heavy RuII porphyrin unit(s), which quench the fluorescence of the SnIV porphyrin and 21,23‐dithiaporphyrin units.  相似文献

Self-assembly of porphyrins is a fascinating topic, not only for mimicking chlorophyll assemblies in photosynthetic organisms, but also for the potential of creating molecular-level devices. Herein, zinc porphyrin derivatives bearing a meta-pyridyl group at the meso position were prepared and their assemblies studied in chloroform. Among the porphyrins studied, one with a carbamoylpyridyl moiety gave a distinct 1H NMR spectrum in CDCl3, which allowed the supramolecular structure in solution to be probed in detail. Ring-current-induced chemical-shift changes in the 1H NMR spectrum, together with vapor-pressure osmometry and diffusion-ordered NMR spectroscopy, among other evidence, suggested that the porphyrin molecules form a trimer with a triangular cone structure. Incorporation of a directly linked porphyrin–ferrocene dyad with the same assembling properties in the assemblies led to a rare example of a light-harvesting/charge-separation system in which an energy gradient is incorporated and reductive quenching occurs.  相似文献

Recent progress in the synthesis of covalently linked porphyrin arrays with large two‐Photon absorption (TPA) cross‐section values has been reviewed with a particular focus on the relation of TPA properties with molecular structures. Covalently linked porphyrin arrays continue to be important and useful for the creation of functional materials owing to their chemical robustness, fine‐tuning, and easy manipulation. More importantly, the porphyrin electronic systems are quite susceptible to periphery conjugative perturbations, hence allowing facile fabrications to extensively delocalized systems. This property has been used for exploration of porphyrin‐based molecular systems with large TPA values, demonstrating a general trend that enhancement in electronic interactions leads to large TPA cross‐section values. As a representative example, the porphyrin tapes exhibit larger TPA values owing to the fully delocalized nature of the π‐electrons. This Focus Review will help understand the structural requirements of porphyrin arrays with large TPA values, which will be useful for future applications in optical communication in the IR region.  相似文献

The preparation of star‐shaped poly(γ‐benzyl‐L ‐glutamate)s by the ring‐opening polymerization of N‐carboxy anhydride γ‐benzyl‐L ‐glutamate (BLG‐NCA) with hexakis(4‐aminomethylphenoxy)‐ ( 4 ) and hexakis(4‐aminophenoxy)cyclotriphosphazenes ( 6 ), and the conformation of resulting polymers has been studied. The six amino groups in 4 can initiate the polymerization of BLG‐NCA to give star‐shaped polyglutamates ( 7 ) with narrow molecular weight distributions (M w/M n = 1.10–1.33). For the polymerization of BLG‐NCA with 6 , however, a high ratio of [BLG‐MCA]/[ 6 ] was required to obtain star‐shaped polyglutamates ( 8 ). The conformation of 7 changed from a β‐sheet form to a right‐handed α‐helix form, depending on the degree of polymerization per chain (DP n/6). The helix content of hexa‐armed poly (γ‐benzyl‐L ‐glutamate‐co‐L ‐glutamic acid)s ( 9 ), prepared by partial hydrolysis of 7 , increased significantly compared with that of the corresponding linear analogue ( 10 ). As increasing of helix content of 9 , the fluorescence spectra of 8‐anilino‐1‐naphthalenesulfonic acid (ANS), a fluorescence probe, shifted to a short wavelength accompanied by the enhancement of intensity, suggesting that star‐shaped polymers are liable to form hydrophobic domains. From these results and the structural feature of the cyclotriphosphazene core, the formation of a 3α‐helix bundle structure of polyglutamates on both sides of the phosphazene ring has been suggested.

A series of meso-meso-linked diporphyrins S(n) strapped with a dioxymethylene group of various length were synthesized by intramolecular Ag(I)-promoted coupling of dioxymethylene-bridged diporphyrins B(n), for n=10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1. Shortening of the strap length causes a gradual decrease in the dihedral angle between the porphyrins and increasing distortion of porphyrin ring, as suggested by MM2 calculations and (1)H NMR studies. This trend has been also suggested by X-ray crystallographic studies on the corresponding Cu(II) complexes of nonstrapped diporphyrin 2 Cu, and strapped diporphyrins S(8)Cu, S(4)Cu, and S(2)Cu. The absorption spectrum of relatively unconstrained diporphyrins S(10) strapped with a long chain exhibits split Soret bands at 414 and 447 nm and weak Q(0,0)- and prominent Q(1,0)-bands, both of which are similar to those of nonstrapped diporphyrin 2. Shortening of the strap length causes systematic changes in the absorption spectra, in which the intensities of the split Soret bands decrease, the absorption bands at about 400 nm and > 460 nm increase in intensity, and a prominent one-band feature of a Q-band is changed to a distinct two-band feature with concurrent progressive red-shifts of the lowest Q(0,0)-band. The fluorescence spectra also exhibit systematic changes, roughly reflecting the changes of the absorption spectra. The strapped diporphyrins S(n) are all chiral and have been separated into enantiomers over a chiral column. The CD spectra of the optically active S(n) display two Cotton effects at 430-450 and at about 400 nm with the opposite signs. The latter effect can be explained in terms of oblique arrangement of m( perpendicular 1) and m( perpendicular 2) dipole moments, while the former effect cannot be accounted for within a framework of the excition coupling theory. The resonance Raman (RR) spectra taken for excitation at 457.9 nm are variable among S(n), while the RR spectra taken for excitation at 488.0 nm are constant throughout the S(n) series. These photophysical properties can be explained in terms of INDO/S-SCI calculations, which have revealed charge transfer (CT) transitions accidentally located close in energy to the excitonic Soret transitions. This feature arises from a close proximity of the two porphyrins in meso-meso-linked diporphyrins. In addition to the gradual red-shift of the exciton split Soret band, the calculations predict that the high-energy absorption band at about 400 nm, the lower energy Cotton effect, and the RR spectra taken for excitation at 457.9 nm are due to the CT states which are intensified upon a decrease in the dihedral angle.  相似文献

The synthesis and characterization of a hetero-dinuclear compound is presented, in which a copper(I) trishistidine type coordination unit is positioned directly above a zinc porphyrin unit. The close distance between the two coordination fragments is secured by a rigid xanthene backbone, and a unique (intramolecular) copper porphyrin-π-bond was determined for the first time in the molecular structure. This structural motif was further analyzed by temperature-dependent NMR studies: In solution at room temperature the coordinative bond fluctuates, while it can be frozen at low temperatures. Preliminary reactivity studies revealed a reduced reactivity of the copper(I) moiety towards dioxygen. The results adumbrate why nature is avoiding metal porphyrin-π-bonds by fixing reactive metal centers in a predetermined distance to each other within multimetallic enzymatic reaction centers.  相似文献

Zinc bis-porphyrin molecular tweezers composed of a N(4) spacer bound through pyridyl units to the meso position of porphyrins were synthesized, and the tweezers are closed by the coordination of a copper(II) ion inside the spacer ligand. The effect of the π-π interaction between the porphyrin rings in the closed conformation on the absorption spectra of multi-electron oxidized species and the reduction potentials were clarified by chemical and electrochemical oxidation of the closed form of the zinc bis-porphyrin molecular tweezers in comparison with the open form without copper(II) ion and the corresponding porphyrin monomer. The shifts in redox potentials and absorption spectrum of the porphyrin dication indicate a strong electronic interaction between the two oxidized porphyrins in the closed form, whereas there is little interaction between them in the neutral form. The dynamics of copper(II) ion coordination and subsequent electron transfer was examined by using a stopped-flow UV/Vis spectroscopic technique. It was confirmed that coordination of copper(II) occurs prior to electron-transfer oxidation of the closed form of the zinc bis-porphyrin molecular tweezers.  相似文献

Excitation of the peripheral Zn porphyrin units in a noncovalent five‐porphyrin array, formed by gable‐like zinc(II) bisporphyrins and a central free‐base meso‐tetrakis(4‐pyridyl)porphyrin in a 2:1 ratio, ( ZnP2 )2? ( TPyP ), does not lead to a quantitative sensitization of the luminescence of the free‐base porphyrin acceptor, even though there is an effective energy transfer. Time resolution of the luminescence evidences a quenching of TPyP upon sensitization by the peripheral ZnP2 . The time evolution of the TPyP fluorescence in the complex can be described by a bi‐exponential fitting with a major component of 180 ps and a minor one of 5 ns, compared to an isolated TPyP lifetime of 9.4 ns. The two quenched lifetimes are shown to be correlated to the presence of 2:1 and 1:1 complexes, respectively. No quenching of TPyP fluorescence occurs in ( ZnP2 )2?( TPyP ) at 77 K in a rigid solvent for which only an energy‐transfer process (τ=150±10 ps) from peripheral ZnP2 to the central TPyP is observed. An unusual HOMO–HOMO electron‐transfer reaction from ZnP2 to the excited TPyP units, responsible for the observed phenomena, is detected. The resulting charge‐separated state, ( ZnP2 )+2?( TPyP )? is found to recombine to the ground state with a lifetime of 11 ns.  相似文献

A new 3,5‐disubstituted pyridine with two porphyrin moieties was prepared through an efficient synthetic approach involving 2‐formyl‐5,10,15,20‐tetraphenylporphyrin ( 1 ), piperidine, and catalytic amounts of [La(OTf)3]. 3,5‐Bis(5,10,15,20‐tetraphenylporphyrin‐2‐ylmethyl)pyridine ( 2 ) was fully characterized and its sensing ability towards Zn2+, Cu2+, Hg2+, Cd2+, and Ag+ was evaluated in solution by absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy and in gas phase by using matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI)‐TOF mass spectrometry. Strong changes in the ground and excited state were detected in the case of the soft metal ions Zn2+, Cd2+, Hg2+, and Cu2+. A three‐metal‐per‐ligand molar ratio was obtained in all cases and a significant ratiometric behavior was observed in the presence of Zn2+ with the appearance of a new band at 608 nm, which can be assigned to a metal‐to‐ligand charge transfer. The system was able to quantify 79 ppb of Zn2+ and the theoretical calculations are in accordance with the stoichiometry observed in solution. The gas‐phase sensorial ability of compound 2 towards all metal ions was confirmed by using MALDI‐TOF MS and in solid state by using polymeric films of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) doped with ligand 2 . The results showed that compound 2 can be analytically used to develop new colorimetric molecular devices that are able to discriminate between Hg2+ and Zn2+ in solid phase. The crystal structure of ZnII complex of 3,5‐bisporphyrinylpyridine was unequivocally elucidated by using single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction studies.  相似文献

A phosphole‐fused porphyrin dimer, as a representative of a new class of porphyrins with a phosphorus atom, was synthesized for the first time. The porphyrin dimer exhibits remarkably broadened absorption, indicating effective π‐conjugation over the two porphyrins through the phosphole moiety. The porphyrin dimer possesses excellent electron‐accepting character, which is comparable to that of a representative electron‐accepting material, [60]PCBM. These results provide access to a new class of phosphorus‐containing porphyrins with unique optoelectronic properties.  相似文献

Organized multiporphyrin arrays were developed on the conductive surface by a novel coordination-directed molecular architecture aiming at efficient photoelectric conversion. The basic strategy employs the mutual coordination of two imidazolylporphyrinatozinc(II) units to form a cofacial dimer. Thus, meso,meso-linked bis(imidazolylporphyrinatozinc) (Zn2(ImP)2) was organized onto imidazolylporphyrinatozinc on the gold substrate as a self-assembled monolayer. The organized Zn2(ImP)2 bearing allyl side chains was covalently linked by ring-closing olefin metathesis catalyzed with Grubbs catalyst. Alternating coordination/metathesis reactions allow the stepwise accumulation of multiporphyrin arrays on the gold electrode. A successive increase in absorption over a wide wavelength range occurred after each accumulation step of Zn2(ImP)2 on the gold electrode, and cathodic photocurrent generation was enhanced in the aqueous electrolyte system, containing viologen as an electron carrier. The significant increase of the photocurrent indicates that the multiporphyrin array works as a "light-harvesting antenna" on the gold electrode.  相似文献

Artificial and natural lipid membranes that elicit transmembrane signaling is are useful as a platform for channel‐based biosensing. In this account we summarize our research on the design of transmembrane signaling associated with lipid bilayer membranes containing nanopore‐forming compounds. Channel‐forming compounds, such as receptor ion‐channels, channel‐forming peptides and synthetic channels, are embedded in planar and spherical bilayer lipid membranes to develop highly sensitive and selective biosensing methods for a variety of analytes. The membrane‐bound receptor approach is useful for introducing receptor sites on both planar and spherical bilayer lipid membranes. Natural receptors in biomembranes are also used for designing of biosensing methods.  相似文献

Flexible “pacman” scaffolds built upon a calix[4]arene platform bearing a [18]crown‐6 ether and either two OH functions or two OPr groups at the lower rim have been used to generate donor–acceptor (D–A) dyads incorporating a zinc–porphyrin donor and a free‐base porphyrin acceptor. Through‐space singlet energy transfer (SET) in the D–A dyads was studied by time‐resolved fluorescence spectroscopy. Although the effects of conformational changes are well documented when the chromophores switch from a non‐cofacial to a cofacial arrangement, little is known about flexible pacman scaffolds in which the changes are limited to the distance between the chromophores. The known SET rates for reported, geometrically well‐defined, rigid pacman D–A dyads were used as calibration to estimate the D–A distances in the flexible pacman dyads. Due to the flexibility of the calix[4]arene spacer, the D–A dyads adopt a “closed” or “open” geometry that is tuned by intramolecular hydrogen bonds (O? H???[18]crown‐6 ether) and by solvent interactions. Changes in the SET rates between the open and closed geometries were surprisingly less dramatic than expected, and are explained by a dual SET pathway that is specific to the calix[4]arene platform. Time‐resolved fluorescence studies support the hypothesis that, for the “open” conformer, the preferred through space SET pathway (i.e., at the shortest distance) is located within the calix[4]arene cavity through the cofacial phenyl groups. For the “closed” conformer, the preferred through space SET route is located between the zinc and free‐base porphyrins.  相似文献
