Reversible and non‐bonding interaction between SWNTs and ODCB is observed from the analyses of visible near‐infrared absorption data and Raman spectroscopies (see spectra). The solvent effect on SWNTs effectively controls the electronic structure of SWNTs under homogeneous conditions.

Hot‐wired electrodes : Thin metallic wires (d=25 μm) are covered with a 3 μm layer of single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs; see image) by electrophoresis from a suspension containing excess ionic surfactant. A pure SWCNT surface is achieved by heating the electrode in air. Strong differences between covered and bare metallic electrodes occur with in situ heating during electrochemical experiments.

An amphiphilic polystyrene‐poly(ethylene glycol) resin‐dispersion of nanoparticles of platinum (ARP‐Pt) is developed, with the nanoparticles exhibiting a narrow size distribution throughout the resin. ARP‐Pt offers a sustainable chemistry alternative as a useful and readily recyclable catalyst for the aerobic oxidation of a wide variety of alcohols.

Bisalen—very cooperative : A novel styryl‐substituted, unsymmetrical bisalen is shown to be a versatile precursor to both soluble and insoluble cooperative catalysts for the hydrolytic kinetic resolution of epoxides. The unique bisalen motif ensures all catalysts derived from it have the necessary molecular‐level ligand pairing needed for cooperative bimetallic catalytic reactions (see scheme).

A polymer therapeutic designed for combination anticancer and antiangiogenic therapy inhibited the proliferation of prostate carcinoma cells and the proliferation, migration, and tube‐formation of endothelial cells. The nanoconjugate was formed from an N‐(2‐hydroxypropyl)methacrylamide (HPMA) copolymer, the bisphosphonate alendronate (for bone targeting), and the chemotherapy agent paclitaxel (PTX), which is cleaved by cathepsin B (see scheme).

The PNP ligand has been shown to be flexible, hemilabile, and capable of stabilizing low‐ and high‐valent uranium species. The bis(PNP) framework is a valuable alternative to the (C5Me5)2 ligand set, offering distinct structures and reaction patterns.

Synergistic interactions between N and F can be used to tune the band structures of N‐doped TiO2 (see scheme). Reduction potential of conduction band electron is positively shifted to weaken unwanted O2 reduction, but enhances the target reduction reaction in air. The tuning also enhances the oxidation ability of the valence band to oxidize water to O2, which makes photocatalytic reduction proceed without any organic sacrificial reagents.
