Borenes and boranes : Silylaminoiminoborenes, such as depicted, were isolated after treatment of halogen triels with silylaminofluoroboranes. In addition, novel aryl‐ and silyl‐substituted diaminofluoroboranes were also prepared in order to substantiate this reaction route.
Making connections : A hydroxy‐centered trinuclear nickel cluster has been employed to construct a highly connected, highly symmetric framework with a uninodal nine‐connected topology. An array of triakis tetrahedra leads to a biporous intersecting‐channel system (see picture).
Division of labour : The rapid enzyme inactivation in the electroenzymatic synthesis of chiral alcohols has been the main obstacle for synthetic applications during the last two decades. The reasons for this inactivation have now been elucidated. The development of a water‐soluble polymeric mediator and the spatial separation of enzyme and mediator led to the first stable process and significantly improved catalyst utilisations (see picture).
Supramolecular chirality and liquid crystalline OFET : Achiral end‐capped oligothiophenes can be tuned to exhibit supramolecular chirality with unique striped textures showing distinct circular dichroism signals as well as a highly ordered SmE phase that leads to high hole carrier mobility.
