Copper clusters : Two high‐nuclearity copper cages, tricorne Cu21 and saddlelike cyclic Cu16 (see pictures), were synthesized. Magnetic studies and Monte Carlo calculations were also performed to show the overall antiferromagnetic properties of the two compounds.
High‐de‐hydride! A straightforward reaction between a magnesium silylamido/N‐heterocyclic carbene adduct and phenylsilane provides a {Mg4H6} cluster molecule that may be regarded as a combination of two magnesium dihydride and two magnesium monohydride moieties.
Salty metal : In the suboxometallate Cs9InO4, metallic cesium columns (see picture; blue) lie next to ionic oxoindate(III) columns. The chemistry of the suboxides is thus expanded to structures containing complex anions.
Substituted benzoxathiazines function as catalysts for the selective hydroxylation of tertiary C? H bonds. Mechanistic studies have revealed an unanticipated disparity between oxaziridine reactivity and catalyst performance and have given way to a new catalyst and an aqueous H2O2 reaction protocol that greatly facilitate such transformations (see scheme).
A uniform, conformal, pure copper metal thin film was grown at very low substrate temperatures (100–120 °C) on Si(100) substrates by atomic layer deposition involving the ligand exchange of [Cu(OCHMeCH2NMe2)2] with Et2Zn (see scheme). Patterned copper thin films of Cu nanotubes (diameter 150 nm, length 12 μm) were fabricated.
Curvy ligands for H 2 storage? Enhancement of H2 adsorption has been observed in coordination framework materials, an example of which is depicted, by the introduction of phenanthrene and 9,10‐dihydrophenanthrene groups into porous CuII–carboxylate framework materials of NbO topology.
Move closer : The gallium? gallium bond strength in terphenyl gallium(I) dimers [ArGaGaAr] (see figure) is similar to those in other molecules with closed shell interactions, implying that the Ga? Ga bond in doubly reduced Na2[ArGaGaAr] is much closer to a single than a triple one.
Aluminium speciation : Aluminium speciation in NTf2 ionic liquids has a strong influence on its electrodeposition from the liquid mixture. This work probed the nature of these species and proposes that the electroactive species involved are either [AlCl3(NTf2)]? or [AlCl2(NTf2)2]? (e.g., see figure).
