Fullerence C60‐cryptand 22 was prepared and successfully applied as the electric carrier in the PVC electrode membrane of a bifunctional ion‐selective electrode for cations, e.g., Ag+ ions as well as anions, e.g., I? ions. The bifunctional ion‐selective electrode based on C60‐cryptand 22 can be applied as a Silver (Ag+) ion selective electrode with an internal electrode solution of 10?3 M AgNO3 in water (pH = 6.3), or as an Iodide (I?) ion selective electrode with an acidic internal electrode solution of 10?4 M KI(aq) (pH = 2) in which the cryptand 22 is protonated, and the C60‐cryptand 22 is changed to C60‐Cryptand22–H+ and becomes an anionic electro‐carrier to absorb the I? ion. The Ag+ ion selective electrode based on C60‐cryptand 22 gave a linear response with a near‐Nernstian slope (59.5 mV decade?1) within the concentration range 10?1‐10?3 M Ag+(aq). The Ag+ ion electrode exhibited comparatively good selectivity for silver ions, over other transition‐metal ions, alkali and alkaline earth metal ions. The Ag+ ion selective electrode with good stability and reproducibility was successfully used for the titration of Ag+(aq) with Cl? ions. The Iodide (I?) Ion selective electrode based on protonated C60–cryptand22‐H+ also showed a linear response with a nearly Nernstian slope (58.5 mV decade?1) within 10?1 ‐ 10?3 M I? (aq) and exhibited good selectivity for I? ions and had small selectivity coefficients (10?2–10?3) for most of other anions, e.g., F? , OH?, CH3COO?, SO42?, CO32?, CrO42?, Cr2O72? and PO43? ions.  相似文献

The dynamic potential response of an 18‐crown‐6 based ion‐selective electrode towards Li+, Na+, K+ and Ca2+, in a flow‐injection system is studied. Different double nonmonotonic transient signals are obtained for the different ions. The influence of the flow‐injection variables and of ion concentration on the signals is studied. Two signal parameters, the relative return rates, are found to be characteristic for each ion and are constant for a concentration range of 1–3 decades. The nonmomotonic transient signals obtained are explained by reference to the theoretical models reported.  相似文献

Conducting polymers, i.e., electroactive conjugated polymers, are useful both as ion‐to‐electron transducers and as sensing membranes in solid‐state ion‐selective electrodes. Recent achievements over the last few years have resulted in significant improvements of the analytical performance of solid‐contact ion‐selective electrodes (solid‐contact ISEs) based on conducting polymers as ion‐to‐electron transducer combined with polymeric ion‐selective membranes. A significant amount of research has also been devoted to solid‐state ISEs based on conducting polymers as the sensing membrane. This review gives a brief summary of the progress in the area in recent years.  相似文献

A novel concept of tailoring potentiometric responses of all‐solid‐state ion‐selective electrodes was introduced. The effect of composition and resulting properties of the conjugated polymer transducer, placed between the electrode support and ion‐selective membrane, on analytical characteristic of obtained sensors was studied.  相似文献

Conducting polymers (CP) remain a promising material to construct stable potential all‐solid‐state ion‐selective potentiometric electrodes. The unique properties of poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene) doped with poly(4‐styrenesulfonate) ions, PEDOT‐PSS: high CP stability and affinity of doping anions towards Cu2+ ions, make it highly attractive for construction of all‐solid‐state copper(II)‐selective electrodes with outstanding selectivity. The additional benefits can arise from solution processability of commercially available PEDOT‐PSS system. This material was highly promising for a new sensor arrangement, i.e. to obtain disposable, planar and flexible all‐plastic Cu2+‐selective electrodes. These sensors can be obtained by casting a commercially available dispersion of PEDOT‐PSS (Baytron P) on a plastic, non‐conducting support material. The CP being both electrical lead and ion‐to‐electron transducer, was covered with plastic, solvent polymeric Cu2+ selective membrane. This extremely simple arrangement, after conditioning in dilute Cu2+ solution, was characterized with linear Nernstian responses within the activities range from: 0.1 to 10?4 M, followed by super‐Nernstian responses for lower activities. The latter result points to effective elimination of primary ions leakage from the plastic membrane / transducer phase and has resulted in significantly improved selectivities. Obtained log K values were equal to ?7.6 for Co2+, ?7.4 for Zn2+, ?7.2 for Ca2+ and ?6.8 for Na+, respectively.  相似文献

Multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were compared with poly(3‐octylthiophene) (POT) as ion‐to‐electron transducer in all‐solid‐state potassium ion‐selective electrodes with valinomycin‐based ion‐selective membranes. MWCNTs and POT were mixed with the other components of the potassium ion‐selective membrane cocktail (valinomycin, KTpClPB, o‐NPOE, PVC, THF) which was then applied on a glassy carbon (GC) substrate to prepare single‐piece ion‐selective electrodes (SPISEs). Results from potentiometric and impedance measurements showed that the MWCNT‐based electrodes have a more reproducuible standard potential and a lower overall impedance than the electrodes based on POT. Both types of electrodes showed similar sensitivity to potassium ions and no redox sensitivity.  相似文献

Until now both ion‐to‐electron transducers as well as large surface area nanostructured conducting materials were successfully used as solid contacts for polymer‐based ion‐selective electrodes. We were interested to explore the combination of these two approaches by fabricating ordered electrically conducting polymer (ECP) nanostructures using 3D nanosphere lithography and electrosynthesis to provide a high surface area and capacitive interface for solid contact ion‐selective electrodes (SC‐ISEs). For these studies we used poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene)/poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT(PSS)) films with 750 nm diameter interconnected pores as the intermediate layer between a glassy carbon electrode and a Ag+ ‐selective polymeric membrane. We also investigated the feasibility of loading the voids created in the polymer film with a lipophilic redox mediator (1,1’‐dimethylferrocene) to provide the respective ISEs with well‐defined/controllable E0 values. These expectations were fulfilled as the standard deviation of E0 values were reduced with almost an order of magnitude for 3D nanostructured SC‐ISEs filled with the redox mediator as compared to their redox mediator‐free analogs. The detrimental effect of the redox mediator extraction into the plasticized PVC‐based ion‐selective membrane (ISM) was efficiently suppressed by replacing the PVC‐based ISMs with a low diffusivity silicone rubber matrix.  相似文献

New polymeric membrane cadmium‐ion selective sensors have been prepared by incorporating nitrogen and sulfur containing tridentate ligands as the ionophores into the plasticized PVC membranes. Poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) based membranes of potassium hydrotris[N‐(2,6‐xylyl)thioimdazolyl) borate] (KTt2,6‐xylyl) and potassium hydrotris(3‐phenyl‐5‐methylpyrazolyl) borate (KTpPh,Me) with sodium tetraphenyl borate (NaTPB) as an anionic excluder and dibutylphthalate (DBP), tributylphthalate (TBP), dioctylsebacate (DOS), and o‐nitrophenyloctyl ether (o‐NPOE) as plasticizing solvent mediators were investigated in different compositions. KTt2,6‐xylyl was found to be a selective and sensitive ion carrier for Cd(II) membrane sensor. A membrane composed of KTt2,6‐xylyl:NaTPB:PVC:DBP with the % mole ratio 2.3 : 1.1 : 34.8 : 61.8 (w/w) works well over a very wide concentration range (7.8×10?8–1.0×10?2 M) with a Nernstian slope of 29.4±0.2 mV/decades of activity between pH values of 3.5 to 9.0 with a detection limit of 4.37×10?8 M. The sensor displays very good discrimination toward Cd(II) ions with regard to most common cations. The proposed sensor shows a short response time for whole concentration range (ca. 8 s). The effects of the cationic (tetrabutylammonium chloride, TBC), anionic (sodium dodecyl sulfate, SDS) and nonionic (Triton X‐100) surfactants were investigated on the potentiometric properties of proposed cadmium‐selective sensor. The proposed sensor based on KTt2,6‐xylyl ionophore has also been used for the direct determination of cadmium ions in different water samples and human urine samples.  相似文献

Three different recently synthesized aza‐thioether crowns containing a 1,10‐phenanthroline sub‐unit (L1–L3) and a corresponding acyclic ligand (L4) were studied to characterize their abilities as silver ion ionophores in PVC‐membrane electrodes. Novel conventional silver‐selective electrodes with internal reference solution (CONISE) and coated graphite‐solid contact electrodes (SCISE) were prepared based on one of the 15‐membered crowns containing two donating S atoms and two phenanthroline‐N atoms (L1). The electrodes reveal a Nernstian behavior over wide Ag+ ion concentration ranges (1.0×10?5?1.0×10?1 M for CONISE and 5.0×10?8?4.0×10?2 M for SCISE) and very low limits of detection (8.0×10?6 M for CONISE and 3.0×10?8 M for SCISE). The potentiometric response is independent from pH of the solution in the pH range 3.0–8.0. The electrodes manifest advantages of low resistance, very fast response and, most importantly, good selectivities relative to a wide variety of other cations. The electrodes can be used for at least 2 months (for CONISE) and 4 months for (SCISE) without any appreciable divergence in potentials. The electrodes were used as an indicator electrode in the potentiometric titration of Ag+ ion and in the determination of silver in photographic emulsions and in radiographic and photographic films.  相似文献

A series of polymeric nitrite‐selective electrodes containing a new lipophilic ionophore Co(II) tert‐butyl‐salophen is reported. The stability of Co(II) ionophores within a PVC‐based membrane was investigated by leaching experiments. Different membrane compositions were explored in order to reach the lowest possible limit of detection for a PVC‐based nitrite selective polymeric membrane electrode containing this ionophore. The optimal electrode showed a limit of detection of 2×10?6 M and exhibited four orders of magnitude of discrimination over nitrate, chloride and bromide. The electrodes were evaluated in undiluted human urine and attest to the robustness of the ionophore.  相似文献

A new pendant‐arm derivative of diaza‐18‐crown‐6, containing two oxime donor groups, has been synthesized and incorporated into a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) membrane ion‐selective electrode. The electrode shows selectivity for Ag+ ion, with a near Nernstian response. Pb2+, Cu2+, Hg2+, and Tl+ are major interfering ions, with Cd2+ having minor interference. The electrode shows no potentiometric response for the ions Mg2+, Al3+, K+, Ca2+, Ni2+, Fe3+, and La3+, and is responsive to H+ at pH<6.  相似文献

The effect of component contents and membrane thickness on the detection limit (DL), slope (m), linear range (LR) and response time (RT) of Pb2+ solid contact potentiometric ion selective electrodes (SCISE) based on 4,10‐diaza‐2,3,11,12‐dibenzo‐18‐crown‐6 (1), 4,10‐diaza‐2,3,11,12‐di(4‐tert‐butylbenzo)‐18‐crown‐6 (2) and 4,10‐diaza‐2,3,11,12‐dibenzo‐18‐crown‐6‐N,N′‐di(carboxymethyl) (3) as ionophores was studied by open circuit potential (OCP) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements. The use of an intermediate layer of poly(3‐octyl)thiophene between the gold substrate and the selective membrane was explored. SCISE prepared showing the best responses had typical DL, m, LR and RT values of 10?6 M, 29 mV/dec, 10?5 to 10?3 M and 2 minutes.  相似文献

A novel anion‐selective PVC membrane electrode based on bis‐[(3‐ferrocenyl)‐(2‐crotonic acid)] copper(II) complex [Cu(II)‐BFCA] as neutral carrier is described, which demonstrates excellent potentiometric response characteristics toward thiocyanate ion and anti‐Hofmeister selectivity sequence in following order: SCN?>I?>ClO >Sal?>Br?>NO >Cl?≈NO >SO >SO . The electrode shows a near‐Nernstian response for thiocyanate ion in a wide range of 9.0×10?7–1.0×10?1 M with a detection limit 6.8×10?7 M and a slope of ?59.1 mV/decade in pH 5.0 of phosphate buffer solution at 20 °C. The influences of lipophilic cationic and anionic additives on the response properties of the electrode were investigated. High sensitivity and wide linear dynamic range were observed for the electrode in the presence of hexadecyltrimethylammoniumborate (HTAB) as a lipophilic cationic additive. The electrode was successfully applied to the determination of thiocyanate ion in waste water and human saliva.  相似文献

A single‐piece solid‐contact Pb2+‐selective electrode was prepared by adding a thiophene oligomer into the ion‐selective cocktail directly. The one‐step fabrication yielded an electrode with Nernstian response spanning a wide concentration range of 10?3–10?8 mol L?1, and detection limit as low as 5.6×10?9 mol L?1. The electrode had a quick response time of approximately 10–15 s and showed excellent selectivity over the most common univalent and divalent cations. The practical application of the proposed electrode has been tested by determining Pb2+ in real water samples.  相似文献

A potentiometric sensor for studying charge based adsorption of proteins was created using a single‐piece polyaniline‐PVC ion‐selective electrode (ISE). Three different ISEs, two for Na+ and one for Cl? ion determination, were studied. The Na+‐ISEs consisted of a neutral calixarene‐based ionophore and one with a charged carrier dinonylnapthalenesulfonic acid (DNNSA) whereas for the Cl? ISE, an anion exchanger tridodecylmethylammonium chloride (TDDMA+Cl?), was used. The Na+ ISE with DNNSA as the charged carrier was successfully able to discriminate the binding of two different proteins (bovine serum albumin and lysozyme) based on their intrinsic charge.  相似文献

This paper is aiming to give a brief overview of recent research in the field of all‐solid‐state, internal solution free, ion‐selective electrodes and reference electrodes, employing conducting polymers or nano‐/microstructures as solid contacts beneath the polymeric, ion‐selective or reference membranes. The emphasis is on papers published in the last five years (after 2006). According to the papers published, poly(3‐octylthiophene) conducting polymer transducers offer highly reliable sensors for various applications, involving demanding analytical approaches and miniature sensors. On the other hand, the search for alternative materials continues: the sensors obtained by placing nano‐/microstructures (conducting polymers but also other materials, like, e.g., carbon nanotubes) underneath the receptor membrane are intensively tested. The recent years have also shown how useful the application of advanced instrumental methods is for the investigation of processes occurring within all‐solid‐state ion‐selective electrodes.  相似文献

Three recently synthesized Schiff's bases were studied to characterize their ability as Cr3+ ion carrier in PVC‐membrane electrodes. The polymeric membrane (PME) and coated glassy carbon (CGCE) electrodes based on 2‐hydroxybenzaldehyde‐O,O′‐(1,2‐dioxetane‐1,2‐diyl) oxime (L1) exhibited Nernstian responses for Cr3+ ion over wide concentration ranges (1.5×10?6–8.0×10?3 M for PME and 4.0×10?7–3.0×10?3 M for CGCE) and very low limits of detection (1.0×10?6 M for PME and 2.0×10?7 M for CGCE). The proposed potentiometric sensors manifest advantages of relatively fast response and, most importantly, good selectivities relative to a wide variety of other cations. The selectivity behavior of the proposed Cr3+ ion‐selective electrodes revealed a considerable improvement compared to the best previously PVC‐membrane electrodes for chromium(III) ion. The potentiometric responses of the electrodes are independent of pH of the test solution in the pH range 3.0–6.0. The electrodes were successfully applied to determine chromium(III) in water samples.  相似文献

Copper phthalocyanine was used as ion carrier for preparing polymeric membrane selective sensor for detection of iodide. The electrode was prepared by incorporating the ionophore into plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) membrane, coated on the surface of graphite electrode. This novel electrode shows high selectivity for iodide with respect to many common inorganic and organic anions. The effects of membrane composition, pH and the influence of lipophilic cationic and anionic additives and also nature of plasticizer on the response characteristics of the electrode were investigated. A calibration plot with near‐Nernestian slope for iodide was observed over a wide linear range of five decades of concentration (5×10?6?1×10?1 M). The electrode has a fast response time, and micro‐molar detection limit (ca. 1×10?6 M iodide) and could be used over a wide pH range of 3.0–8.0. Application of the electrode to the potentiometric titration of iodide ion with silver nitrate is reported. This sensor is used for determination of the minute amounts of iodide in lake water samples.  相似文献

An all‐solid‐state polymeric membrane Ca2+‐selective electrode based on hydrophobic octadecylamine‐functionalized graphene oxide has been developed. The hydrophobic composite in the ion‐selective membrane not only acts as a transduction element to improve the potential stability for the all‐solid‐state Ca2+‐selective electrode, but also is used to immobilize Ca2+ ionophore with lipophilic side chains through hydrophobic interactions. The developed all‐solid‐state Ca2+‐selective electrode shows a stable potential response in the linear range of 3.0×10−7–1.0×10−3 M with a slope of 24.7±0.3 mV/dec, and the detection limit is (1.6±0.2 )×10−7 M (n =3). Additionally, due to the hydrophobicity and electrical conductivity of the composite, the proposed all‐solid‐state ion‐selective electrode exhibits an improved stability with the absence of water layer between the ion‐selective membrane and the underlying glassy carbon electrode. This work provides a simple, efficient and low‐cost methodology for developing stable and robust all‐solid‐state ion‐selective electrode with ionophore immobilization.  相似文献

The construction, performance characteristics, and application of polymeric membrane (PME) and coated graphite (CGE) thiocyanate‐selective electrodes are reported. The electrodes were prepared by incorporating the complex [Cu(L)](NO3)2 (L=4,7‐bis(3‐aminopropyl)‐1‐thia‐4,7‐diazacyclononane) into a plasiticized poly(vinyl chloride) membrane. The influence of membrane composition, pH of test solution, and foreign ions were investigated. The electrodes reveal Nernstian behavior over a wide SCN? ion concentration range (1.0×10?6–1.0×10?1 M for PME and 5.0×10?7–1.0×10?2 M for CGE) and show fast dynamic response times of 15 s and lower. The proposed sensors show high selectivity towards thiocyanate over several common organic and inorganic anions. They were successfully applied to the direct determination of thiocyanate in urine and saliva of smokers and nonsmokers, and as an indicator electrode in titration of Ag+ ions with thiocyanate.  相似文献
