We investigate the long-term behaviour of a system of SDEs for d≥2 types, involving catalytic branching and mutation between types. In particular, we show that the overall sum of masses converges to zero but does not hit zero in finite time a.s. We shall then focus on the relative behaviour of types in the limit. We prove weak convergence to a unique stationary distribution that does not put mass on the set where at least one of the coordinates is zero. Finally, we provide a complete analysis of the case d=2.  相似文献

Stochastic networks with time varying arrival and service rates and routing structure are studied. Time variations are governed by, in addition to the state of the system, two independent finite state Markov processes X and Y. The transition times of X are significantly smaller than typical inter-arrival and processing times whereas the reverse is true for the Markov process Y. By introducing a suitable scaling parameter one can model such a system using a hierarchy of time scales. Diffusion approximations for such multiscale systems are established under a suitable heavy traffic condition. In particular, it is shown that, under certain conditions, properly normalized buffer content processes converge weakly to a reflected diffusion. The drift and diffusion coefficients of this limit model are functions of the state process, the invariant distribution of X, and a finite state Markov process which is independent of the driving Brownian motion.  相似文献

It is known that in the critical case the conditional least squares estimator (CLSE) of the offspring mean of a discrete time branching process with immigration is not asymptotically normal. If the offspring variance tends to zero, it is normal with normalization factor n2/3n2/3. We study a situation of its asymptotic normality in the case of non-degenerate offspring distribution for the process with time-dependent immigration, whose mean and variance vary regularly with non-negative exponents αα and ββ, respectively. We prove that if β<1+2αβ<1+2α, the CLSE is asymptotically normal with two different normalization factors and if β>1+2αβ>1+2α, its limit distribution is not normal but can be expressed in terms of the distribution of certain functionals of the time-changed Wiener process. When β=1+2αβ=1+2α the limit distribution depends on the behavior of the slowly varying parts of the mean and variance.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the conditional least squares estimator (CLSE) of the offspring mean of a branching process with non-stationary immigration based on the observation of population sizes. In the supercritical case, assuming that the immigration variables follow known distributions, conditions guaranteeing the strong consistency of the proposed estimator will be derived. The asymptotic normality of the estimator will also be proved. The proofs are based on direct probabilistic arguments, unlike the previous papers, where functional limit theorems for the process were used.  相似文献

Controlled branching processes (CBP) with a random control function provide a useful way to model generation sizes in population dynamics studies, where control on the growth of the population size is necessary at each generation. An important special case of this process is the well known branching process with immigration. Motivated by the work of Wei and Winnicki [C.Z. Wei, J. Winnicki, Estimation of the mean in the branching process with immigration, Ann. Statist. 18 (1990) 1757–1773], we develop a weighted conditional least squares estimator of the offspring mean of the CBP and derive the asymptotic limit distribution of the estimator when the process is subcritical, critical and supercritical. Moreover, we show the strong consistency of this estimator in all the cases. The results obtained here extend those of Wei and Winnicki [C.Z. Wei, J. Winnicki, Estimation of the mean in the branching process with immigration, Ann. Statist. 18 (1990) 1757–1773] for branching processes with immigration and provide a unified limit theory of estimation.  相似文献

We study the path behaviour of general random walks, and that of their local times, on the 2-dimensional comb lattice C2 that is obtained from Z2 by removing all horizontal edges off the x-axis. We prove strong approximation results for such random walks and also for their local times. Concentrating mainly on the latter, we establish strong and weak limit theorems, including Strassen-type laws of the iterated logarithm, Hirsch-type laws, and weak convergence results in terms of functional convergence in distribution.  相似文献

We consider birth–death processes on the nonnegative integers, where {1,2,…}{1,2,} is an irreducible class and 0 an absorbing state, with the additional feature that a transition to state 0 (killing) may occur from any state. Assuming that absorption at 0 is certain we are interested in additional conditions on the transition rates for the existence of a quasi-stationary distribution. Inspired by results of Kolb and Steinsaltz [M. Kolb, D. Steinsaltz, Quasilimiting behavior for one-dimensional diffusions with killing, Ann. Probab. 40 (2012) 162–212] we show that a quasi-stationary distribution exists if the decay rate of the process is positive and exceeds at most finitely many killing rates. If the decay rate is positive and smaller than at most finitely many killing rates then a quasi-stationary distribution exists if and only if the process one obtains by setting all killing rates equal to zero is recurrent.  相似文献

A risk process that can be Markovised is conditioned on ruin. We prove that the process remains a Markov process. If the risk process is a PDMP, it is shown that the conditioned process remains a PDMP. For many examples the asymptotics of the parameters in both the light-tailed case and the heavy-tailed case are discussed.  相似文献

We study in this paper the extremal behavior of stochastic integrals of Legendre polynomial transforms with respect to Brownian motion. As the main results, we obtain the exact tail behavior of the supremum of these integrals taken over intervals [0,h] with h>0 fixed, and the limiting distribution of the supremum on intervals [0,T] as T. We show further how this limit distribution is connected to the asymptotic of the maximally selected quasi-likelihood procedure that is used to detect changes at an unknown time in polynomial regression models. In an application to global near-surface temperatures, we demonstrate that the limit results presented in this paper perform well for real data sets.  相似文献

We study the adaptive dynamics of predator–prey systems modeled by a dynamical system in which the traits of predators and prey are allowed to evolve by small mutations. When only the prey are allowed to evolve, and the size of the mutational change tends to 0, the system does not exhibit long term prey coexistence and the trait of the resident prey type converges to the solution of an ODE. When only the predators are allowed to evolve, coexistence of predators occurs. In this case, depending on the parameters being varied, we see that (i) the number of coexisting predators remains tight and the differences in traits from a reference species converge in distribution to a limit, or (ii) the number of coexisting predators tends to infinity, and we calculate the asymptotic rate at which the traits of the least and most “fit” predators in the population increase. This last result is obtained by comparison with a branching random walk killed to the left of a linear boundary and a finite branching–selection particle system.  相似文献

The Markov binomial distribution is approximated by the Poisson distribution with the same mean, by a translated Poisson distribution and by two-parametric Poisson type signed measures. Using an adaptation of Le Cam’s operator technique, estimates of accuracy are proved for the total variation, local and Wasserstein norms. In a special case, asymptotically sharp constants are obtained. For some auxiliary results, we used Stein’s method.  相似文献

We consider a class of multitype particle systems in d undergoing spatial diffusion and critical stable multitype branching, and their limits known as critical stable multitype Dawson-Watanabe processes, or superprocesses. We show that for large classes of initial states, the particle process and the superprocess converge in distribution towards known equilibrium states as time tends to infinity. As an application we obtain the asymptotic behavior of a system of nonlinear partial differential equations whose solution is related to the distribution of both the particle process and the superprocess.Research partially supported by CONACyT (Mexico), CNRS (France) and BMfWuF (Austria).  相似文献

We consider a neutral dynamical model of biological diversity, where individuals live and reproduce independently. They have i.i.d. lifetime durations (which are not necessarily exponentially distributed) and give birth (singly) at constant rate b. Such a genealogical tree is usually called a splitting tree [9], and the population counting process (Nt;t≥0) is a homogeneous, binary Crump-Mode-Jagers process. We assume that individuals independently experience mutations at constant rate θ during their lifetimes, under the infinite-alleles assumption: each mutation instantaneously confers a brand new type, called an allele, to its carrier. We are interested in the allele frequency spectrum at time t, i.e., the number A(t) of distinct alleles represented in the population at time t, and more specifically, the numbers A(k,t) of alleles represented by k individuals at time t, k=1,2,…,Nt.We mainly use two classes of tools: coalescent point processes, as defined in [15], and branching processes counted by random characteristics, as defined in [11] and [13]. We provide explicit formulae for the expectation of A(k,t) conditional on population size in a coalescent point process, which apply to the special case of splitting trees. We separately derive the a.s. limits of A(k,t)/Nt and of A(t)/Nt thanks to random characteristics, in the same vein as in [19].Last, we separately compute the expected homozygosity by applying a method introduced in [14], characterizing the dynamics of the tree distribution as the origination time of the tree moves back in time, in the spirit of backward Kolmogorov equations.  相似文献

A continuous time random walk (CTRW) is a random walk subordinated to a renewal process, used in physics to model anomalous diffusion. Transition densities of CTRW scaling limits solve fractional diffusion equations. This paper develops more general limit theorems, based on triangular arrays, for sequences of CTRW processes. The array elements consist of random vectors that incorporate both the random walk jump variable and the waiting time preceding that jump. The CTRW limit process consists of a vector-valued Lévy process whose time parameter is replaced by the hitting time process of a real-valued nondecreasing Lévy process (subordinator). We provide a formula for the distribution of the CTRW limit process and show that their densities solve abstract space–time diffusion equations. Applications to finance are discussed, and a density formula for the hitting time of any strictly increasing subordinator is developed.  相似文献

In this paper, some limit processes of occupation time fluctuations of the branching particle systems with varied branching laws from site to site are obtained. The results show that the varied branching laws can not affect the limit processes and the scaling parameters in the case of large dimensions, but in the case of critical dimensions, under suitable assumptions, it changes the limit processes with simple and isotropic spatial structures to those with complicated and anisotropic spatial structures and gives log corrections in the scaling parameters.  相似文献

We consider first passage times for piecewise exponential Markov processes that may be viewed as Ornstein–Uhlenbeck processes driven by compound Poisson processes. We allow for two-sided jumps and as a main result we derive the joint Laplace transform of the first passage time of a lower level and the resulting undershoot when passage happens as a consequence of a downward (negative) jump. The Laplace transform is determined using complex contour integrals and we illustrate how the choice of contours depends in a crucial manner on the particular form of the negative jump part, which is allowed to belong to a dense class of probabilities. We give extensions of the main result to two-sided exit problems where the negative jumps are as before but now it is also required that the positive jumps have a distribution of the same type. Further, extensions are given for the case where the driving Lévy process is the sum of a compound Poisson process and an independent Brownian motion. Examples are used to illustrate the theoretical results and include the numerical evaluation of some concrete exit probabilities. Also, some of the examples show that for specific values of the model parameters it is possible to obtain closed form expressions for the Laplace transform, as is the case when residue calculus may be used for evaluating the relevant contour integrals.  相似文献

Consider a generic triangle in the upper half of the complex plane with one side on the real line. This paper presents a tailored construction of a discrete random walk whose continuum limit is a Brownian motion in the triangle, reflected instantaneously on the left and right sides with constant reflection angles. Starting from the top of the triangle, it is evident from the construction that the reflected Brownian motion lands with the uniform distribution on the base. This raises some questions on the possible distributions of hulls generated by local processes.  相似文献

We provide sufficient conditions for polynomial rate of convergence in the weak law of large numbers for supercritical general indecomposable multi-type branching processes. The main result is derived by investigating the embedded single-type process composed of all individuals having the same type as the ancestor. As an important intermediate step, we determine the (exact) polynomial rate of convergence of Nerman’s martingale in continuous time to its limit. The techniques used also allow us to give streamlined proofs of the weak and strong laws of large numbers and ratio convergence for the processes in focus.  相似文献

This paper extends the works of Kang and Ramanan (2010) and Kaspi and Ramanan (2011), removing the hypothesis of absolute continuity of the service requirement and patience time distributions. We consider a many-server queueing system in which customers enter service in the order of arrival in a non-idling manner and where reneging is considerate. Similarly to Kang and Ramanan (2010), the dynamics of the system are represented in terms of a process that describes the total number of customers in the system as well as two measure-valued processes that record the age in service of each of the customers being served and the “potential” waiting times. When the number of servers goes to infinity, fluid limit is established for this triple of processes. The convergence is in the sense of probability and the limit is characterized by an integral equation.  相似文献

In this paper, we present the classical risk process with two-step premium function. This means that the gross risk premium rate changes if the insurer’s surplus reaches a certain threshold level. The formula for the infinite-time ruin probability is obtained. The asymptotic behaviour of the ruin probability in the case where the claim size distribution has a light tail is considered as well.  相似文献
