We study the random walk in a random environment on Z+={0,1,2,…}, where the environment is subject to a vanishing (random) perturbation. The two particular cases that we consider are: (i) a random walk in a random environment perturbed from Sinai’s regime; (ii) a simple random walk with a random perturbation. We give almost sure results on how far the random walker is from the origin, for almost every environment. We give both upper and lower almost sure bounds. These bounds are of order (logt)β, for β∈(1,∞), depending on the perturbation. In addition, in the ergodic cases, we give results on the rate of decay of the stationary distribution. 相似文献

We consider branching random walks in d-dimensional integer lattice with time–space i.i.d. offspring distributions. This model is known to exhibit a phase transition: If d≥3 and the environment is “not too random”, then, the total population grows as fast as its expectation with strictly positive probability. If, on the other hand, d≤2, or the environment is “random enough”, then the total population grows strictly slower than its expectation almost surely. We show the equivalence between the slow population growth and a natural localization property in terms of “replica overlap”. We also prove a certain stronger localization property, whenever the total population grows strictly slower than its expectation almost surely. 相似文献

We introduce a class of nearest-neighbor integer random walks in random and non-random media, which includes excited random walks considered in the literature. At each site the random walker has a drift to the right, the strength of which depends on the environment at that site and on how often the walker has visited that site before. We give exact criteria for recurrence and transience and consider the speed of the walk. Most of this work was done while the author was Szegö Assistant Professor at Stanford University. 相似文献

We study the asymptotic behaviour of Markov chains (Xn,ηn) on Z+×S, where Z+ is the non-negative integers and S is a finite set. Neither coordinate is assumed to be Markov. We assume a moments bound on the jumps of Xn, and that, roughly speaking, ηn is close to being Markov when Xn is large. This departure from much of the literature, which assumes that ηn is itself a Markov chain, enables us to probe precisely the recurrence phase transitions by assuming asymptotically zero drift for Xn given ηn. We give a recurrence classification in terms of increment moment parameters for Xn and the stationary distribution for the large- X limit of ηn. In the null case we also provide a weak convergence result, which demonstrates a form of asymptotic independence between Xn (rescaled) and ηn. Our results can be seen as generalizations of Lamperti’s results for non-homogeneous random walks on Z+ (the case where S is a singleton). Motivation arises from modulated queues or processes with hidden variables where ηn tracks an internal state of the system. 相似文献

We investigate the cumulative scenery process associated with random walks in independent, identically distributed random sceneries under the assumption that the scenery variables satisfy Cramér’s condition. We prove moderate deviation principles in dimensions d≥2, covering all those regimes where rate and speed do not depend on the actual distribution of the scenery. For the case d≥4 we even obtain precise asymptotics for the probability of a moderate deviation, extending a classical central limit theorem of Kesten and Spitzer. For d≥3, an important ingredient in the proofs are new concentration inequalities for self-intersection local times of random walks, which are of independent interest, whilst for d=2 we use a recent moderate deviation result for self-intersection local times, which is due to Bass, Chen and Rosen. 相似文献

We study the path behaviour of general random walks, and that of their local times, on the 2-dimensional comb lattice C2 that is obtained from Z2 by removing all horizontal edges off the x-axis. We prove strong approximation results for such random walks and also for their local times. Concentrating mainly on the latter, we establish strong and weak limit theorems, including Strassen-type laws of the iterated logarithm, Hirsch-type laws, and weak convergence results in terms of functional convergence in distribution. 相似文献

We consider a random walk in random scenery {Xn=η(S0)+?+η(Sn),n∈N}, where a centered walk {Sn,n∈N} is independent of the scenery {η(x),x∈Zd}, consisting of symmetric i.i.d. with tail distribution P(η(x)>t)∼exp(−cαtα), with 1?α<d/2. We study the probability, when averaged over both randomness, that {Xn>ny} for y>0, and n large. In this note, we show that the large deviation estimate is of order exp(−ca(ny)), with a=α/(α+1). 相似文献

A continuous time random walk (CTRW) is a random walk subordinated to a renewal process, used in physics to model anomalous diffusion. Transition densities of CTRW scaling limits solve fractional diffusion equations. This paper develops more general limit theorems, based on triangular arrays, for sequences of CTRW processes. The array elements consist of random vectors that incorporate both the random walk jump variable and the waiting time preceding that jump. The CTRW limit process consists of a vector-valued Lévy process whose time parameter is replaced by the hitting time process of a real-valued nondecreasing Lévy process (subordinator). We provide a formula for the distribution of the CTRW limit process and show that their densities solve abstract space–time diffusion equations. Applications to finance are discussed, and a density formula for the hitting time of any strictly increasing subordinator is developed. 相似文献

We prove some heavy-traffic limit theorems for some nonstationary linear processes which encompass the fractionally differentiated random walk as well as some FARIMA processes, when the innovations are in the domain of attraction of a non-Gaussian stable distribution. The results are based on an extension of the point process methodology to linear processes with nonsummable coefficients and make use of a new maximal type inequality. 相似文献

Let (Zn)n∈N be a d-dimensional random walk in random scenery, i.e., with (Sk)k∈N0 a random walk in Zd and (Y(z))z∈Zd an i.i.d. scenery, independent of the walk. The walker's steps have mean zero and some finite exponential moments. We identify the speed and the rate of the logarithmic decay of for various choices of sequences n(bn) in [1,∞). Depending on n(bn) and the upper tails of the scenery, we identify different regimes for the speed of decay and different variational formulas for the rate functions. In contrast to recent work [A. Asselah, F. Castell, Large deviations for Brownian motion in a random scenery, Probab. Theory Related Fields 126 (2003) 497-527] by A. Asselah and F. Castell, we consider sceneries unbounded to infinity. It turns out that there are interesting connections to large deviation properties of self-intersections of the walk, which have been studied recently by X. Chen [X. Chen, Exponential asymptotics and law of the iterated logarithm for intersection local times of random walks, Ann. Probab. 32 (4) 2004]. 相似文献

Convolutions of independent random variables often arise in a natural way in many applied areas. In this paper, we study various stochastic orderings of convolutions of heterogeneous gamma random variables in terms of the majorization order [p-larger order, reciprocal majorization order] of parameter vectors and the likelihood ratio order [dispersive order, hazard rate order, star order, right spread order, mean residual life order] between convolutions of two heterogeneous gamma sets of variables wherein they have both differing scale parameters and differing shape parameters. The results established in this paper strengthen and generalize those known in the literature. 相似文献

We consider random walk with a nonzero bias to the right, on the infinite cluster in the following percolation model: take i.i.d. bond percolation with retention parameter p on the so-called infinite ladder, and condition on the event of having a bi-infinite path from −∞ to ∞. The random walk is shown to be transient, and to have an asymptotic speed to the right which is strictly positive or zero depending on whether the bias is below or above a certain critical value which we compute explicitly. 相似文献

We study models of discrete-time, symmetric, Zd-valued random walks in random environments, driven by a field of i.i.d. random nearest-neighbor conductances ωxy∈[0,1], with polynomial tail near 0 with exponent γ>0. We first prove for all d≥5 that the return probability shows an anomalous decay (non-Gaussian) that approaches (up to sub-polynomial terms) a random constant times n−2 when we push the power γ to zero. In contrast, we prove that the heat-kernel decay is as close as we want, in a logarithmic sense, to the standard decay n−d/2 for large values of the parameter γ. 相似文献

In recent years several authors have obtained limit theorems for the location of the right most particle in a supercritical branching random walk. In this paper we will consider analogous problems for an exponentially growing number of independent random walks. A comparison of our results with the known results of branching random walk then identifies the limit behaviors which are due to the number of particles and those which are determined by the branching structure. 相似文献

Constrained diffusions, with diffusion matrix scaled by small ?>0, in a convex polyhedral cone G⊂Rk, are considered. Under suitable stability assumptions small noise asymptotic properties of invariant measures and exit times from domains are studied. Let B⊂G be a bounded domain. Under conditions, an “exponential leveling” property that says that, as ?→0, the moments of functionals of exit location from B, corresponding to distinct initial conditions, coalesce asymptotically at an exponential rate, is established. It is shown that, with appropriate conditions, difference of moments of a typical exit time functional with a sub-logarithmic growth, for distinct initial conditions in suitable compact subsets of B, is asymptotically bounded. Furthermore, as initial conditions approach 0 at a rate ?2 these moments are shown to asymptotically coalesce at an exponential rate. 相似文献
