The main aim of this paper is to study the error estimates of a rectangular nonconforming finite element for the stationary Navier-Stokes equations under anisotropic meshes. That is, the nonconforming rectangular element is taken as approximation space for the velocity and the piecewise constant element for the pressure. The convergence analysis is presented and the optimal error estimates both in a broken H1-norm for the velocity and in an L2-norm for the pressure are derived on anisotropic meshes.  相似文献

In this paper we develop and study a new stabilized finite volume method for the two-dimensional Stokes equations. This method is based on a local Gauss integration technique and the conforming elements of the lowest-equal order pair (i.e., the P 1P 1 pair). After a relationship between this method and a stabilized finite element method is established, an error estimate of optimal order in the H 1-norm for velocity and an estimate in the L 2-norm for pressure are obtained. An optimal error estimate in the L 2-norm for the velocity is derived under an additional assumption on the body force. A finite volume method for solving Navier-Stokes problems   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We develop a finite volume method for solving the Navier-Stokes equations on a triangular mesh. We prove that the unique solution of the finite volume method converges to the true solution with optimal order for velocity and for pressure in discrete H1 norm and L2 norm respectively.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to study the Crouzeix-Raviart (C-R) type nonconforming linear triangular finite element method (FEM) for the nonstationary Navier-Stokes equations on anisotropic meshes. By intro- ducing auxiliary finite element spaces, the error estimates for the velocity in the L2-norm and energy norm, as well as for the pressure in the L2-norm are derived.  相似文献

In this paper we are concerned with a weighted least-squares finite element method for approximating the solution of boundary value problems for 2-D viscous incompressible flows. We consider the generalized Stokes equations with velocity boundary conditions. Introducing the auxiliary variables (stresses) of the velocity gradients and combining the divergence free condition with some compatibility conditions, we can recast the original second-order problem as a Petrovski-type first-order elliptic system (called velocity–stress–pressure formulation) in six equations and six unknowns together with Riemann–Hilbert-type boundary conditions. A weighted least-squares finite element method is proposed for solving this extended first-order problem. The finite element approximations are defined to be the minimizers of a weighted least-squares functional over the finite element subspaces of the H1 product space. With many advantageous features, the analysis also shows that, under suitable assumptions, the method achieves optimal order of convergence both in the L2-norm and in the H1-norm. © 1998 B. G. In this paper, we present a mixed covolume method for parabolic equations on triangular grids. This method use the lowest order Raviart–Thomas (R–T) mixed finite element space as the trial space. We prove the optimal order of convergence for the approximate pressure and velocity in L2-norm. Furthermore, we obtain the quasi-optimal error estimates for the approximate pressure in L-norm.  相似文献

We analyze a finite-element approximation of the stationary incompressible Navier–Stokes equations in primitive variables. This approximation is based on the nonconforming P1/P0 element pair of Crouzeix/Raviart and a special upwind discretization of the convective term. An optimal error estimate in a discrete H1-norm for the velocity and in the L2-norm for the pressure is proved. Some numerical results are presented. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

In the paper, a stabilized multiscale finite element method for the stationary incompressible Navier-Stokes equations is considered. The method is a Petrov-Galerkin approach based on the multiscale enrichment of the standard polynomial space enriched with the unusual bubble functions which no longer vanish on every element boundary for the velocity space. The stability of the P1-P0 triangular element (or the Q1-P0 quadrilateral element) is established. And the optimal error estimates of the stabilized multiscale finite element method for the stationary Navier-Stokes equations are obtained.  相似文献

We consider the spectral semi-Galerkin method applied to the non-homogeneous Navier-Stokes equations, which describes the motion of miscibles fluids. Under certain conditions it is known that the aproximate solutions constructed by using this method converge to a global strong solution of these equations. In this paper we prove that these solutions satisfy an optimal uniform in time error estimate in the H 1-norm for the velocity. We also derive an uniform error estimate in the L -norm for the density and an improved error estimate in the L 2-norm for the velocity.  相似文献

In this work, we approximate the solution of initial boundary value problem using a Galerkin-finite element method for the spatial discretization, and Implicit Runge-Kutta methods for the time stepping. To deal with the nonlinear termf(x, t, u), we introduce the well-known extrapolation sheme which was used widely to prove the convergence inL 2-norm. We present computational results showing that the optimal order of convergence arising underL 2-norm will be preserved inL -norm.  相似文献

In this paper, a new stabilized finite element method based on two local Gauss integrations is considered for the two-dimensional viscoelastic fluid motion equations, arising from the Oldroyd model for the non-Newtonian fluid flows. This new stabilized method presents attractive features such as being parameter-free, or being defined for non-edge-based data structures. It confirms that the lowest equal-order P 1???P 1 triangle element and Q 1???Q 1 quadrilateral element are compatible. Moreover, the long time stabilities and error estimates for the velocity in H 1-norm and for the pressure in L 2-norm are obtained. Finally, some numerical experiments are performed, which show that the new method is applied to this model successfully and can save lots of computational cost compared with the standard ones.  相似文献

The two-level pressure projection stabilized finite element methods for Navier-Stokes equations with nonlinear slip boundary conditions are investigated in this paper, whose variational formulation is the Navier-Stokes type variational inequality problem of the second kind. Based on the P1-P1 triangular element and using the pressure projection stabilized finite element method, we solve a small Navier-Stokes type variational inequality problem on the coarse mesh with mesh size H and solve a large Stokes type variational inequality problem for simple iteration or a large Oseen type variational inequality problem for Oseen iteration on the fine mesh with mesh size h. The error analysis obtained in this paper shows that if h=O(H2), the two-level stabilized methods have the same convergence orders as the usual one-level stabilized finite element methods, which is only solving a large Navier-Stokes type variational inequality problem on the fine mesh. Finally, numerical results are given to verify the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

We study new a posteriori error estimates of the mixed finite element methods for general optimal control problems governed by nonlinear parabolic equations. The state and the co-state are discretized by the high order Raviart-Thomas mixed finite element spaces and the control is approximated by piecewise constant functions. We derive a posteriori error estimates in L(J; L2Ω)-norm and L2(J; L2Ω)-norm for both the state, the co-state and the control approximation. Such estimates, which seem to be new, are an important step towards developing a reliable adaptive mixed finite element approximation for optimal control problems. Finally, the performance of the posteriori error estimators is assessed by two numerical examples.  相似文献

It is well known that convergence rate of finite element approximation is suboptimal in the L2 norm for solving biharmonic equations when P2 or Q2 element is used. The goal of this paper is to derive a weak Galerkin (WG) P2 element with the L2 optimal convergence rate by assuming the exact solution sufficiently smooth. In addition, our new WG finite element method can be applied to general mesh such as hybrid mesh, polygonal mesh or mesh with hanging node. The numerical experiments have been conducted on different meshes including hybrid meshes with mixed of pentagon and rectangle and mixed of hexagon and triangle.  相似文献

Based on a linear finite element space, a symmetric finite volume scheme for a self-adjoint elliptic boundary-value problem is proposed. Error estimates in L2-norm, H1-norm, and L-norm are derived. Some post-processing techniques are also provided.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to study the effect of the numerical quadrature on the finite element approximation to the exact solution of elliptic equations with discontinuous coefficients. Due to low global regularity of the solution, it seems difficult to achieve optimal order of convergence with classical finite element methods [Z. Chen, J. Zou, Finite element methods and their convergence for elliptic and parabolic interface problems, Numer. Math. 79 (1998) 175-202]. We derive error estimates in finite element method with quadrature for elliptic interface problems in a two-dimensional convex polygonal domain. Optimal order error estimates in L2 and H1 norms are shown to hold even if the regularity of the solution is low on the whole domain. Finally, numerical experiment for two dimensional test problem is presented in support of our theoretical findings.  相似文献
