Silica-metal core–shell particles, as for instance those having siliceous core and nanostructured gold shell, attracted a lot of attention because of their unique properties resulting from combination of mechanical and thermal stability of silica and magnetic, electric, optical and catalytic properties of metal nanocrystals such as gold, silver, platinum and palladium. Often, the shell of the core–shell particles consists of a large number of metal nanoparticles deposited on the surface of relatively large silica particles, which is the case considered in this work. Namely, silica particles having size of about 600 nm were subjected to surface modification with 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane. This modification altered the surface properties of silica particles, which was demonstrated by low pressure nitrogen adsorption at ?196 °C. Next, gold nanoparticles were deposited on the surface of aminopropyl-modified silica particles using two strategies: (i) direct deposition of gold nanoparticles having size of about 10 nm, and (ii) formation of gold nanoparticles by adsorption of tetrachloroauric acid on aminopropyl groups followed by its reduction with formaldehyde. The overall morphology of silica–gold particles and the distribution of gold nanoparticles on the surface of modified silica colloids were characterized by scanning electron microscopy. It was shown that direct deposition of colloidal gold on the surface of large silica particles gives more regular distribution of gold nanopartciles than that obtained by reduction of tetrachloroauric acid. In the latter case the gold layer consists of larger nanoparticles (size of about 50 nm) and is less regular. Note that both deposition strategies afforded silica–gold particles having siliceous cores covered with shells consisting of gold nanoparticles of tunable concentration.  相似文献

This review is provided a detailed overview of the synthesis, properties and applications of nanoparticles (NPs) exist in different forms. NPs are tiny materials having size ranges from 1 to 100 nm. They can be classified into different classes based on their properties, shapes or sizes. The different groups include fullerenes, metal NPs, ceramic NPs, and polymeric NPs. NPs possess unique physical and chemical properties due to their high surface area and nanoscale size. Their optical properties are reported to be dependent on the size, which imparts different colors due to absorption in the visible region. Their reactivity, toughness and other properties are also dependent on their unique size, shape and structure. Due to these characteristics, they are suitable candidates for various commercial and domestic applications, which include catalysis, imaging, medical applications, energy-based research, and environmental applications. Heavy metal NPs of lead, mercury and tin are reported to be so rigid and stable that their degradation is not easily achievable, which can lead to many environmental toxicities.  相似文献

In this study, gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were green synthesized using plant extract. The obtained nanoparticles (Au NPs) were characterized by advanced physical and chemical techniques like TEM, FTIR, UV–vis, SEM, XRD and EDX. SEM image displayed the quasi-spherical shaped nanoparticles of mean diameter 20–50 nm. All the particles were of uniform shape and texture. From the XRD pattern, four distinct diffraction peaks at 38.2°, 44.2°, 64.7° and 77.4° are indexed as (1 1 1), (2 0 0), (2 2 0) and (3 1 1) planes of fcc metallic gold. The in vitro cytotoxic and anti-gastric carcinoma effects of biologically synthesized Au NPs against cancer cell lines were assessed. The IC50 of the Au NPs were 192, 149, 76 and 85 µg/mL against NCI-N87, MKN45, GC1401 and GC1436 gastric cancer cell lines. The anti-gastric carcinoma properties of the Au NPs could significantly remove the cancer cell lines in a time and concentration-dependent manner. So, the findings of the recent research show that biologically synthesized Au NPs might be used to cure cancer.  相似文献

In this work, palladium (Pd) nanoparticles/three-dimensional hollow N-doped graphene frameworks (HNGF) hybrid catalysts were fabricated by using amine-functionalized poly (glycidyl methacrylate) microspheres-templated HNGF as supporting materials for Pd nanoparticles (NPs). The results demonstrate that the Pd NPs with average sizes of ~ 5.5 nm can be well dispersed on the surfaces of HNGF with internal circular holes of ~ 400 nm. The Pd/HNGF catalysts exhibit high electrocatalytic activity and durability toward methanol electro-oxidation in alkaline medium, compared to Pd/graphene and Pd/carbon.  相似文献

Aqueous dispersions of highly stable, redispersible silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) were synthesized using gamma radiolysis with gum acacia as a protecting agent. The formation of nanosized silver was confirmed by its characteristic surface plasmon absorption peak at around 405 nm in UV–vis spectra. The size of the silver nanoparticles can be tuned by controlling the radiation dose, ratio of gum acacia to silver ions and also the ionic strength of the medium. Dynamic light scattering (DLS) measurement of the as-synthesized nanoparticles indicated the size less than 3 nm at higher dose of radiation and this also corroborated the size measurement from the width of the corresponding X-ray diffraction (XRD) peak. The face centered cubic (fcc) crystallinity of the nanoparticles was evident from XRD and high resolution transmission electron microscopic (HRTEM) measurements. Fourier transform infra-red (FTIR) spectroscopic data indicate a bonding of Ag NPs with COO? group of acacia through bridging bidentate linkage.  相似文献

Gamma-ray irradiation is a very useful tool to improve the physicochemical properties of various biodegradable polymers without the use of a heating and crosslinking agent. The purpose of this study was to investigate the degradation behavior of poly (l-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) depending on the applied gamma-ray irradiation doses. PLGA films prepared through a solvent casting method were irradiated with gamma radiation at various irradiation doses. The irradiation was performed using 60Co gamma-ray doses of 25–500 kGy at a dose rate of 10 kGy/h.The degradation of irradiated films was observed through the main chain scission. Exposure to gamma radiation dropped the average molecular weight (Mn and Mw), and weakened the mechanical strength. Thermograms of irradiated film show various changes of thermal properties in accordance with gamma-ray irradiation doses. Gamma-ray irradiation changes the morphology of the surface, and improves the wettability. In conclusion, gamma-ray irradiation will be a useful tool to control the rate of hydrolytic degradation of these PLGA films.  相似文献

We have observed size-reduction induced ferromagnetism and significant photo-magnetic effects in azobezene-thiol-modified gold nanoparticles. When the particle size was reduced to 1.7 nm, ferromagnetism even at room temperature was observed while diamagnetism was dominating with the particle size of 5.0 nm. Furthermore, reducing the particles size to 1.7 nm also gave rise to photo-magnetic properties because the decrease in particle size provided free volume between each of the azobenzene ligands. This photo-magnetic effect could be attributed to photo-induced changes in the values of d-charge losses due to the photoisomerization of azo-ligands, which were accompanied by the inversion of surface dipole values to the opposite sign.  相似文献

Polymeric nanoparticles(NPs)have drawn great interest in the past few years due to their potential applications in the felds of biomedical and optical technologies. However,it is still a challenge to prepare functional polymeric NPs,especially for particle diameters smaller than 50 nm.In this work,we demonstrate a one-pot method to fabricate reactive poly(divinyl benzene-co-maleic anhydride)NPs(PDVBMAH NPs)through a self-stable precipitation polymerization process. The size and morphology of these PDVBMAH NPs were characterized in detail by scanning electronic microscopy, and their chemical structure was determined by IR.The results showed that these NPs were highly cross-linked and their diameter was about 30 nm with narrow distribution.Additionally, the DVB and MAH endow the NPs with reactive surface anhydride and pendant vinyl groups, and these particles could be further functionalized through reaction of these groups.A plausible pathway was proposed for the formation of PDVBMAH NPs.  相似文献

Noble metal nanoparticles have attracted significant research interest due to their ability to support localized surface plasmons. Plasmons not only give the nanoparticles a characteristic color, but they also enhance electromagnetic fields at the nanoparticle surface, often by many orders of magnitude. The enhanced electromagnetic fields are the basis for a host of surface-enhanced spectroscopies, such as surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), but characterizing how the enhanced electromagnetic fields are distributed on the surface of the nanoparticles is an experimental challenge due to the small size of the nanoparticles (~20–200 nm) relative to the diffraction limit of light. This Progress Highlight will discuss methods for characterizing local electromagnetic field enhancements with < 5 nm resolution, including electron energy loss spectroscopy, cathodoluminescence, and super-resolution optical imaging.  相似文献

In this paper, bradykinin (BK), an endogenous peptide hormone, which is involved in a number of physiological and pathophysiological processes was deposited onto the colloidal Au nanoparticles. The surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) was used to determine the adsorption mode of BK under different environmental conditions, including: excitation wavelengths (514.5 nm and 785.0 nm), pH of aqueous sol solutions (from pH = 3 to pH = 11), and size of the colloidal nanoparticles (10, 20, and 50 nm). The metal surface plasmon of the colloidal suspended Au nanoparticles was examined by ultraviolet-visible (UV–vis) spectroscopy. The results showed that the C-terminal part of BK plays a crucial role in the adsorption process onto the colloidal suspended Au particles. The Phe5/8 and Arg9 residues of BK mainly participate in the interactions with the colloidal Au nanoparticles. At acidic pH of the solution (pH = 3), the BK COO terminal group through the both oxygen atoms strongly binds to the Au nanoparticles. The Phe5/Phe8 rings adopt tilted orientation with respect to the colloidal Au nanoparticles with diameters of 10 and 20 nm. As the particle size increases to 50 nm, the flat orientation of the Phe ring(s) with respect to the Au nanoparticles is observed.  相似文献

The electrochemical reduction of CO2 is strongly influenced by both the applied potential and the surface adsorption status of the catalyst. In this work a gas diffusion electrode (GDE) coated with Pd nanoparticles/carbon black (Pd/XC72) was used to study the electrochemical reduction of CO2. Cyclic voltammetric (CV) analysis of Pd/XC72 between 1.5 V and − 0.6 V (vs. RHE) shows the formation of intermediates and the blocking of hydrogen absorption on the Pd nanoparticles (NPs) under a CO2 atmosphere. The relationships between the Faradaic efficiency/current density and the applied potential reveal that the onset potential of CO formation is around − 0.4 V. Moreover, the presence of adsorbed CO was confirmed through CV analysis of Pd/XC72 under CO2 and CO/He atmospheres. This demonstrates that H atoms and CO intermediates co-adsorb on the surface of the Pd NPs at an applied potential of around − 0.4 V. When the applied potential is more negative than − 0.6 V, adsorption of CO intermediates on the surface of the Pd NPs becomes dominant.  相似文献

The plant isolated antioxidant quercitrin has been encapsulated on poly-d,l-lactide (PLA) nanoparticles by solvent evaporation method to improve the solubility, permeability and stability of this molecule. The size of quercitrin-PLA nanoparticles is 250 ± 68 nm whereas that PLA nanoparticles is 195 ± 55 nm. The encapsulation efficiency of nanoencapsulated quercitrin evaluated by HPLC and antioxidant assay is 40%. The in vitro release kinetics of quercitrin under physiological condition reveals initial burst release followed by sustained release. Less fluorescence quenching is observed with equimolar concentration of PLA encapsulated quercitrin than free quercitrin. The presence of quercitrin specific peaks on FTIR of five times washed quercitrin loaded PLA nanoparticles provides an extra evidence for the encapsulation of quercitrin into PLA nanoparticles. These properties of quercitrin nanomedicine provide a new potential for the use of such less useful highly active antioxidant molecule towards the development of better therapeutic for intestinal anti-inflammatory effect and nutraceutical compounds.  相似文献

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles were prepared by the thermal plasma synthesis; which give a highly crystalline product. Their morphological studies are carried out by using techniques like SEM, EDAX, TEM and SEAD. Crystal size was calculated by XRD using Scherrer equation; which is observed at two current amperes; at 80 A size ranges between 25 and 30 nm and at 120 A size ranges between 30 and 42 nm. Composition analysis was done by TEM–EDAX, FTIR and Fast Fourier Transform techniques. The FTIR peaks clearly show that synthesized TiO2 nanoparticles are in anatase phase; this phase is generally preferred because of its high photocatalytic activity, since it has a more negative conduction band edge potential (higher potential energy of photogenerated electrons), high specific area, nontoxic, photochemically stable and relatively in expensive.  相似文献

A new and simple direct precipitation method assisted with ultrasonic agitation was proposed for the preparation of spherical ZnO nanoparticles. The size of the ZnO nanoparticles, 10 nm to 85 nm, was tuned through controlling the calcination temperature and changing the ratio of the reactants. The resonant light scattering (RLS) of the ZnO nanoparticles dispersed/suspended in aqueous solution of Triton X-100 was studied under room temperature. It was found that the ZnO nanoparticles of different size or concentration all have a characteristic RLS peak at 387 nm. Under optimal conditions, the RLS intensity was proportional to the ZnO concentration in the range of 7.3 × 10?8–1 × 10?4 mol L?1, while the cubic root of the RLS intensity was found to be proportional to the size of ZnO nanoparticles. Further, the quantitative relationship of the size of the ZnO nanoparticles versus the calcination temperature was derived, and this could be used to forecast/control the nano-size in the nano-ZnO preparation.  相似文献

Aiming to study the effect of nanoparticle size on electric properties, the effective relative permittivity and electric conductivity of suspensions of 40 nm particles of aluminium oxide (alumina) in base Milli-Q and Milli-Ro water were determined at six different temperatures in the range (298.15 to 348.15) K, and at eight different concentrations up to 7% mass (2% volume). Present results are compared with previously published values for the same colloids containing 15 nm particles. Empirical equations for describing the experimental data are given. This study demonstrates the importance of the particle size, volume fraction of nanoparticles, temperature and water purity on the effective relative permittivity and electric conductivity of alumina nanoparticles suspensions. Trends for changes in permittivity enhancement and in electric conductivity enhancement with temperature and concentration are examined and discussed. Classical theoretical models in the study of permittivity and conductivity are applied. A summary is given for the effect of size ((15 and 40) nm), concentration (0.25 to 2)% volume and temperature (298.15 to 348.15) K on the behavior of these nanofluids.  相似文献

ZnO nanoparticles were generated by thermal decomposition of a binuclear zinc (II) curcumin complex as single source precursor. Thermal behavior of the precursor showed a considerable weight loss at about 374 °C by an exothermic reaction with a maximum weight loss rate of 14%/min. Complete decomposition of precursor was observed within 49 min with a heating rate of 10 °C/min. Synthesized nanoparticles have been characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy and selected area electron diffraction microscopy. Results revealed monodispersed hexagonal zincite structure with an average size of 117 ± 4 nm.  相似文献

Zn(thqdtc)2, Zn(thqdtc)2(py) and Zn(thiqdtc)2(py) (where thqdtc = 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolinecarbodithioate, thiqdtc = 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinolinecarbodithioate and py = pyridine) have been used as single source precursors for the synthesis of ZnS nanoparticles. The formation of ZnS nanoparticles was achieved by thermal decomposition of the complex under heating in presence of triethylenetetraamine. Transmission electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX) and powder X-ray diffraction studies were carried out to study the structure and morphology of the nanoparticles. The optical properties of the ZnS nanoparticles were studied by UV–visible and fluorescence emission spectral studies. UV–visible absorption spectral studies indicate a blue shift in the absorption maxima due to the quantum size effect. A single crystal X-ray analysis was carried out for a precursor [Zn(thqdtc)2].  相似文献

Ni–Ti–O nanopores (NPs) free of irregular surface layers and with tunable diameters are prepared by anodizing NiTi alloy in glycerol containing H2O and NaCl. In an electrolyte composed of glycerol, 10 vol% H2O and 0.6 M NaCl, NPs with diameters between 23 and 39 nm can be produced at anodization voltages between 20 and 80 V. In this electrolyte system, the irregular oxide layer on the surface can be completely removed chemically and/or mechanically during anodization. The resulting Ni–Ti–O NPs with tunable diameters should prove useful, for example, in energy, environmental and biomedical applications.  相似文献

Gold nanoparticles with pre-selected size in the range 5–40 nm were synthesized by γ-irradiation of Au3+ solution containing natural polysaccharide alginate as a stabilizer. The gold nanoparticles with controllable size were prepared by two approaches: (i) varying the concentration of Au3+ from 0.25 to 1 mM and alginate from 0.25% to 1% (w/v) and (ii) enlargement of seed particles with double size from 20 to 40 nm at [Au3+]/[Au0]=6. The obtained gold nanoparticles were characterized by UV–vis spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The results indicated that γ-irradiation method is suitable for production of gold nanoparticles with controllable size and high purity.  相似文献
