The prospects for the measurement of the tensor structure of the vertex between a standard model Higgs boson and two weak gauge bosons using the distribution of the azimuthal angles between the two tagging jets in the weak boson fusion channel are studied in a Monte Carlo analysis using the fast simulation of the ATLAS detector. The decay channels H→τ+τ-→ll+4ν, H→τ+τ-→lh+3ν at mH=120 GeV and H→W+W-→llνν at mH=160 GeV are used in the analysis. For a standard model Higgs boson it is found that purely anomalous couplings are expected to be excluded at a confidence level corresponding to 2σ or more at mH=120 GeV and more than 5σ at mH=160 GeV from 30 fb-1 of data. With a value of 1 roughly reproducing the standard model cross section for a purely anomalous coupling, the standard deviation in a measurement of a contribution of a CP even anomalous coupling in addition to the standard model coupling is estimated to be 0.20 at mH=120 GeV and 0.09 at mH=160 GeV.  相似文献

We present an analysis with improved sensitivity to the light charged Higgs (mH+ < mt-mbm_{H^{+}} < m_{t}-m_{b}) searches in the top quark decays tbH +b(τ + ν τ )+c.c. in the t[`(t)]t\bar{t} and single t/[`(t)]t/\bar{t} production processes at the LHC. In the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), one anticipates the branching ratio B (H+ ?t+nt) @ 1{\mathcal{B}} (H^{+} \to\tau^{+}\nu_{\tau})\simeq1 over almost the entire allowed tanb\tan\beta range. Noting that the τ + arising from the decay H +τ + ν τ are predominantly right-polarized, as opposed to the τ + from the dominant background W +τ + ν τ , which are left-polarized, a number of H +/W +τ + ν τ discriminators have been proposed and studied in the literature. We consider hadronic decays of the τ ±, concentrating on the dominant one-prong decay channel τ ±ρ ± ν τ . The energy and p T of the charged prongs normalised to the corresponding quantities of the ρ ± are convenient variables which serve as τ ± polariser. We use the distributions in these variables and several other kinematic quantities to train a boosted decision tree (BDT). Using the BDT classifier, and a variant of it called BDTD, which makes use of decorrelated variables, we have calculated the BDT(D)-response functions to estimate the signal efficiency vs. the rejection of the background. We argue that this chain of analysis has a high sensitivity to light charged Higgs searches up to a mass of 150 GeV in the decays tbH + (and charge conjugate) at the LHC. For the case of single top production, we also study the transverse mass of the system determined using Lagrange multipliers.  相似文献

The present status of double-beta-decay experiments (including the search for 2β +, ECβ +, and ECEC processes) are reviewed. The results of the most sensitive experiments are discussed. Average and recommended half-life values for two-neutrino double-beta decay are presented. Conservative upper limits on effective Majorana neutrino mass and the coupling constant of the Majoron to the neutrino are established as 〈m ν 〉 < 0.75 eV and 〈g ee 〉 < 1.9 × 10−4, respectively. Proposals for future double-betadecay experiments with a sensitivity for the 〈m ν 〉 at the level of 0.01–0.1 eV are considered.  相似文献

Surface plasmon-phonon polaritons (SPPP’s) of types 3 and 4 are investigated in doped anisotropic single crystals of hexagonal silicon carbide (6H-SiC) in the orientation corresponding to KC and xyC. It is shown that a dispersion dependence of the type-3 SPPP’s bounded by K appears in 6H-SiC when the plasmon frequency increases to ν p⩾350 cm−1. At ν p⩾400 cm−1, ν s(K) exists for type-4 SPPP’s in the frequency range Ω + <ν< + . When the concentration of free charge carriers is increased, the dispersion curves are displaced toward higher frequencies. Resonant microwave absorption in a (BEDO-TTF)2ReO4(H2O) organic conductor single crystal at a temperature of 1.9 K, a magnetic field of up to 70 kOe, and in the frequency band between 30 and 120 GHz has been studied. A spectral component due to the cyclotron resonance (CR) of two-dimensional charge carriers has been identified for ν⩾80 GHz and H⩾10 kOe. The effective mass m(ω) increases with the frequency from m≈0.8m 0 at ν=80 GHz to m≈0.95m 0 at ν=120 GHz. Measurements of the CR line position and FWHM as functions of frequency yield an independently determined imaginary part of the memory function M(ω), which controls the dynamic magnetoconductivity, and the relaxation time τ(ν=100 GHz)≈2.9×10−11 s, which is more than thirty times the value of this parameter in the low-frequency limit τ(ν→0). The anomalous behavior of the CR line position and FWHM is caused by the dispersion of both real and imaginary parts of M(ω), which are probably due to strong Fermi-liquid effects. Zh. éksp. Teor. New data for the diffractive reaction p+N→ [Σ0 K +] +N at E p= 70 GeV were obtained with partially upgraded SPHINX setup. The data are in a good agreement with the results of our previous study of this reaction. In the mass spectrum M0 K +) a structure at the threshold region with a mass ∼1810 MeV and a distinct X(2000) peak with M= 1989 ± 6 MeV and γ= 91 ± 20 MeV are observed. Unusual features of the massive X(2000) state (narrow decay width, anomalously large branching ratio for the decay channel with strange particle emission) make it a serious candidate for cryptoexotic pentaquark baryon with hidden strangeness |qqqsˉs>. We also present new results on the narrow threshold structure X(1810) with M= 1807 ± 7 MeV and γ= 62 ± 19 MeV which is produced in the region of very small P 2 T < 0.01 GeV2. Production cross-sections of charged pions, kaons and antikaons have been measured in C+C and C+Au collisions at beam energies of 1.0 and 1.8 AGeV for different polar emission angles. The kaon and antikaon energy spectra can be described by Boltzmann distributions whereas the pion spectra exhibit an additional enhancement at low energies. The pion multiplicity per participating nucleon M+)/<A part> is a factor of about 3 smaller in C+Au than in C+C collisions at 1.0 AGeV whereas it differs only little for the C and the Au target at a beam energy of 1.8 AGeV. The K+ multiplicities per participating nucleon M(K+)/ <A part> are independent of the target size at 1 AGeV and at 1.8 AGeV. The K- multiplicity per participating nucleon M(K-)/ <A part> is reduced by a factor of about 2 in C+Au as compared to C+C collisions at 1.8 AGeV. This effect might be caused by the absorption of antikaons in the heavy target nucleus. Transport model calculations underestimate the K-/K+ ratio for C+C collisions at 1.8 AGeV by a factor of about 4 if in-medium modifications of K-mesons are neglected. Abstact: High-spin states in 183Re have been studied using the 176Yb(11B,4n) reaction at 52 and 57 MeV. Two high-K bands have been observed directly by a time-correlated γ-γ coincidence measurement. One of the bands is built on an isomeric K π=(25/2)+ state at E x= 1908 keV with a half-life of 0.82(2) ms. The other band, assigned as K π=(29/2) at E x= 2739 keV, decays to the (25/2)+ band. These bands are interpreted as three-quasiparticle structures, π(5/2)+[402] &⊗ν(9/2)+[624] ⊗ν(11/2)+[615] for the (25/2)+ band and π(9/2)[514] ⊗ν(9/2)+[624] ⊗ν(11/2)+[615] for the (29/2) band. The K π= (29/2) band becomes strongly Coriolis mixed with increasing spin and is gradually changing into a low-K s-band structure. Received: 20 April 1998  相似文献

Experimental data from the 2m propane bubble chamber have been analyzed for exotic baryon states search. A number of peculiarities were found in the effective mass spectra of Λπ+ (Σ*+ (1382), PDG), Λp, and Λpp subsystems. A few events detected on the photographs of the propane bubble chamber exposed to a 10 GeV/c proton beam were interpreted as S = −2H 0 light(<M (ΛΛ)) and heavy H 0, +. A new event detected on the photographs of the propane bubble chamber was interpreted as heavy H + (2488) dibaryon by weak decay channels of K pp or Σ+ pπ. The σ-ω coupling is introduced phenomenologically in the linear σ-ω model to study the nuclear matter properties. It is shown that not only the effective nucleon mass M* but also the effective σ meson mass m σ * and the effective ω meson mass m ω * are nucleon-density-dependent. When the model parameters are fitted to the nuclear saturation point, with the nuclear radius constant r 0 = 1.14 fm and volume energy a 1 = 16.0 MeV, as well as to the effective nucleon mass M * = 0.85M, the model yields m σ * = 1.09m σ and m ω * = 0.90m ω at the saturation point, and the nuclear incompressibility K 0 = 501 MeV. 2 , H2O, N2O, and NH3 concentrations in various flowfields using absorption spectroscopy and extractive sampling techniques. An external-cavity diode laser with a tuning range of 1.953–2.057 μm was used to record absorption lineshapes from measured transitions in the CO22 03, ν1+2ν2 03, and 2ν13 bands, H2O ν23and ν12 bands, N2O 2ν1+4ν2 0, ν2 1+2ν3, 3ν1+2ν2 0, and 4ν1 bands, and NH3ν14 and ν34 bands. Measured CO2, H2O, and N2O survey spectra were compared to calculations to verify the HITRAN96 database and used to determine optimum transitions for species detection. Individual lineshape measurements were used to determine fundamental spectroscopic parameters including the line strength, line-center frequency, and self-broadening coefficient of the probed transition. The results represent the first measurements of CO2, H2O, N2O, and NH3 absorption near 2.0 μm using room-temperature near-IR diode lasers. High resolution diode laser spectroscopy has been applied to the detection of hydrogen sulphide at ppm levels utilizing different transitions within the region of the ν 1+ν 2+ν 3 and 2ν 1+ν 2 combination bands around 1.58 μm. Suitable lines in this spectral region have been identified, and absolute absorption cross sections have been determined through single-pass absorption spectroscopy and confirmed in the Doppler linewidth regime using cavity enhanced absorption spectroscopy (CEAS). The desire for a sensitive system potentially applicable to H2S sensing at atmospheric pressure has led to an investigation on suitable transitions using wavelength modulation spectroscopy (WMS). The set-up sensitivity has been calculated as 1.73×10−8 cm−1 s1/2, and probing the strongest line at 1576.29 nm a minimum detectable concentration of 700 ppb under atmospheric conditions has been achieved. Furthermore, pressure broadening coefficients for a variety of buffer gasses have been measured and correlated to the intermolecular potentials governing the collision process; the H2S–H2S dimer well depth is estimated to be 7.06±0.09 kJ mol−1.  相似文献

Using the data of about 33 pb-1 collected at and around 3.773 GeV with the BES-II detector at the BEPC collider, we have studied the exclusive semileptonic decays D+→K-π+e+νe, D0→K̄0π-e+νe, D+→K̄*0e+νe and D0→K*-e+νe. The absolute branching fractions for the decays are measured to be BF(D+→K-π+e+νe)=(3.50±0.75±0.27)%, BF(D0→K̄0π-e+νe)=(2.61±1.04±0.28)%, BF(D+→K̄*0e+νe)=(5.06±1.21±0.40)% and BF(D0→K*-e+νe)=(2.87±1.48±0.39)%. The ratio of the vector to pseudoscalar semileptonic decay rates Γ(D+→K̄*0e+νe)/Γ(D+→K̄0e+νe) is determined to be 0.57±0.17±0.02.  相似文献

The mass spectra of the residual gas in a metallic vacuum chamber of capacity 3 l are studied with an MI-9303 high-resolution magnetic resonance mass spectrometer in the mass range 1–140 u. The experiments are carried out under four evacuation conditions in the pressure range P = 10−8–10−10 Torr, and almost all the mass peaks forming multiplets are resolved. It is shown that the multiplets with mass numbers M≤80 have, as a rule, a multicomponent structure and hydrogen is the basic component responsible for the total pressure in the chamber irrespective of evacuation conditions. Next in order of intensity in the mass spectra are, CH 4 + , H2O+, CO+, and CO 2 + peaks. Other lines in the residual gas spectra are largely due to various C-, H-, N-, and O-based compounds. In addition, the background mass spectrum involves Cl-and F-based compounds and noble gas isotopes. The multiplets with M > 80 often degenerate into a single hydrocarbon line.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the observability of an invisible Higgs boson at Fermilab Tevatron and CERN LHC through the production channel qq̄→ZH→ℓ+-+P/T, where/PT is reconstructed from the ℓ+- with ℓ=e or μ. A new strategy is proposed to eliminate the largest irreducible background, namely qq̄→Z(→ℓ+-)Z(→νν̄). This strategy utilizes the precise measurements of qq̄→Z(→ℓ+-)Z(→ℓ+-). For mH=120 GeV and with luminosity 30 fb-1 at Tevatron, a 5σ observation of the invisible Higgs boson is possible. For mH=114∼140 GeV with only 10 fb-1 luminosity at LHC, a discovery signal over 5σ can be achieved. PACS 14.80.Cp  相似文献

Using a data sample of integrated luminosity of about 33 pb-1 collected around 3.773 GeV with the BESII detector at the BEPC collider, the semileptonic decays D+→φe+νe, D+→φμ+νμ and the hadronic decay D+→φπ+ are studied. The upper limits of the branching fractions are set to be BF(D+→φe+νe)<2.01% and BF(D+→φμ+νμ)<2.04% at the 90% confidence level. The ratio of the branching fractions for D+→φπ+ relative to D+→K-π+π+ is measured to be 0.057±0.011±0.003. In addition, the branching fraction for D+→φπ+ is obtained to be (5.2±1.0±0.4)×10-3.  相似文献

We have studied the weak decay constants and the Isgur-Wise form factors of the B and D mesons in the heavy-quark limit by employing a relativistic 2quark-confinement model. It is an attempt to improve our previous work within the same line of thinking, but by incorporating a couple of novel aspects. First, the infrared behaviour of the heavy quark is considered by modifying its conventional propagator in terms of a single parameter ν. Second, the mass difference between the heavy meson and heavy quark E = m H – M Q has been included. It is found that the weak decay constants depend strongly on this mass difference E with a relatively mild ν dependence. As for the Isgur-Wise function it is controlled more sensitively by the infrared parameter ν, leading to its suppression at maximum meson recoil. In this paper the charged Higgs signal through the decay to a pair of muon and neutrino (H ±μν) is analyzed. The analysis attempts to estimate the amount of muonic signal of the charged Higgs at LHC at a center of mass energy of 14 TeV. The signal process is the top quark pair production with one of the top quarks decaying to a charged Higgs (non SM anomalous top decay) and the other decaying to a W boson which is assumed to decay hadronically to two light jets. Due to the small branching ratio of charged Higgs decay to muon, results are quoted for data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 300 fb−1 which is expected to be collected at the LHC high luminosity regime. It is shown that a signal significance close to 5σ down to below 1σ is achievable for a charged Higgs mass in the range 80 GeV<m(H ±)<150 GeV taking the top quark pair production with both top quarks decaying to W bosons as the main irreducible background.  相似文献

The results of the search for ν μ ν e oscillations in the NOMAD experiment at CERN are presented. The experiment looked for the appearance of ν e in a predominantly ν μ wideband neutrino beam at the CERN SPS. No evidence for oscillations was found. The 90% confidence limits obtained are Δm 2<0.4 eV2 for maximal mixing and sin2(2θ)<1.4×10−3 for large Δm 2. This result excludes the LSND allowed region of oscillation parameters with Δm 2≳10 eV2. We propose a method to measure the neutrino mass kinematically using beams of ions which undergo beta decay. The idea is to tune the ion beam momentum so that in most decays, the electron is forward moving with respect to the beam, and only in decays near the endpoint is the electron moving backwards. Then, by counting the backward moving electrons one can observe the effect of neutrino mass on the beta spectrum close to the endpoint. In order to reach sensitivities for m ν <0.2 eV, it is necessary to control the ion momentum with a precision better than δ p/p<10−5, identify suitable nuclei with low Q-values (in the few to ten keV range), and one must be able to observe at least O(1018)\mathcal{O}(10^{18}) decays.  相似文献
