Interesting cutting plane approaches for solving certain difficult multiextremal global optimization problems can fail to converge. Examples include the concavity cut method for concave minimization and Ramana's recent outer approximation method for unary programs which are linear programming problems with an additional constraint requiring that an affine mapping becomes unary. For the latter problem class, new convergent outer approximation algorithms are proposed which are based on sufficiently deep l-norm or quadratic cuts. Implementable versions construct optimal simplicial inner approximations of Euclidean balls and of intersections of Euclidean balls with halfspaces, which are of general interest in computational convexity. Computational behavior of the algorithms depends crucially on the matrices involved in the unary condition. Potential applications to the global minimization of indefinite quadratic functions subject to indefinite quadratic constraints are shown to be practical only for very small problem sizes.  相似文献

Most nonlinear programming problems consist of functions which are sums of unary functions of linear functions. Advantage can be taken of this form to calculate second and higher order derivatives easily and at little cost. Using these, high order optimization techniques such as Halley's method can be utilized to accelerate the rate of convergence to the solution. These higher order derivatives can also be used to compute second order sensitivity information. The set of unary functions of complexity classes defined by using bounded primitive recursion is inductively characterized by means of bounded iteration. Elementary unary functions, linear space computable unary functions and polynomial space computable unary functions are then inductively characterized using only composition and bounded iteration. In many-valued logic the decision of functional completeness is a basic and important problem, and the thorough solution to this problem depends on determining all maximal closed sets in the set of many-valued logic functions. It includes three famous problems, i.e., to determine all maximal closed sets in the set of the total, of the partial and of the unary many-valued logic functions, respectively. The first two problems have been completely solved ([1], [2], [8]), and the solution to the third problem boils down to determining all maximal subgroups in the k-degree symmetric group Sk, which is an open problem in the finite group theory. We first determine the maximal clones on a set X of infinite regular cardinality κ which contain all permutations but not all unary functions, extending a result of Heindorf’s for countably infinite X. If κ is countably infinite or weakly compact, this yields a list of all maximal clones containing the permutations, since in that case the maximal clones above the unary functions are known. We then generalize a result of Gavrilov’s to obtain on all infinite X a list of all maximal submonoids of the monoid of unary functions which contain the permutations. Minimax programming problems involving locally Lipschitz (Φρ)-invex functions are considered. The parametric and non-parametric necessary and sufficient optimality conditions for a class of nonsmooth minimax programming problems are obtained under nondifferentiable (Φρ)-invexity assumption imposed on objective and constraint functions. When the sufficient conditions are utilized, parametric and non-parametric dual problems in the sense of Mond-Weir and Wolfe may be formulated and duality results are derived for the considered nonsmooth minimax programming problem. With the reference to the said functions we extend some results of optimality and duality for a larger class of nonsmooth minimax programming problems.  相似文献

It will be shown thatn-separated graphs are model-interpretable into trees, in particular this holds for unary function graphs. Hence metamathematical results for trees carry over to more general graphs. We show that trees are stable in some infinite cardinality, hencen-separated graphs are stable, in particular this holds for unary functions. This generalizes results in [4]. In this paper, we study optimal value functions of generalized semi-infinite min-max programming problems on a noncompact set. Directional derivatives and subd-ifferential characterizations of optimal value functions are given. In the literature, the proof of superlinear convergence of approximate Newton or SQP methods for solving nonlinear programming problems requires twice smoothness of the objective and constraint functions. Sometimes, the second-order derivatives of those functions are required to be Lipschitzian. In this paper, we present approximate Newton or SQP methods for solving nonlinear programming problems whose objective and constraint functions have locally Lipschitzian derivatives, and establishQ-superlinear convergence of these methods under the assumption that these derivatives are semismooth. This assumption is weaker than the second-order differentiability. The extended linear-quadratic programming problem in the fully quadratic case is an example of nonlinear programming problems whose objective functions have semismooth but not smooth derivatives.This work is supported by the Australian Research Council.This paper is dedicated to Professor O.L. In the paper, a new class of semi-infinite multiobjective fractional programming problems with support functions in the objective and constraint functions is considered. For such vector optimization problems, higher order dual problems in the sense of Mond-Weir and Schaible are defined. Then, various duality results between the considered multiobjective fractional semi-infinite programming problem and its higher order dual problems mentioned above are established under assumptions that the involved functions are higher order $\left(\Phi,\rho,\sigma^{\alpha}\right)$-type I functions. A new generalized Farkas theorem of the alternative is presented for systems involving functions which can be expressed as the difference of sublinear functions. Various other forms of theorems of the alternative are also given using quasidifferential calculus. Comprehensive optimality conditions are then developed for broad classes of infinite dimensional quasidifferentiable programming problems.
