Examples of unbounded homogeneous domains in complex space

We present several examples of homogeneous domains in complex space that do not have bounded realisations. The domains are equivalent to tubes over affinely homogeneous domains in real space.     

The de Rham complex on unbounded domains with Sobolev space topology

This paper studies the operator dd^∗+d^∗d acting on q-forms on an unbounded domain with smooth boundary, where d is the exterior derivative and d^∗ is the adjoint of d calculated using the Sobolev space topology. The domain of d^∗ is determined and an expression for d^∗ is obtained. The operator dd^∗+d^∗d gives rise to a boundary value problem. Global regularity is obtained using weighted norms and global existence is obtained by using the theory of compact operators.     

Attractors of derivative complex Ginzburg-Landau equation in unbounded domains

The Ginzburg-Landau-type complex equations are simplified mathematical models for various pattern formation systems in mechanics, physics, and chemistry. In this paper, the derivative complex Ginzburg-Landau (DCGL) equation in an unbounded domain Ω ⊂ ℝ² is studied. We extend the Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality to the weighted Sobolev spaces introduced by S. V. Zelik. Applied this Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality of the weighted Sobolev spaces and based on the technique for the semi-linear system of parabolic equations which has been developed by M. A. Efendiev and S. V. Zelik, the global attractor in the corresponding phase space is constructed, the upper bound of its Kolmogorov’s ɛ-entropy is obtained, and the spatial chaos of the attractor for DCGL equation in ℝ² is detailed studied.      

Growth properties of Sobolev space functions over unbounded domains

Summary We study Sobolev space functions with prescribed growth properties on large spheres. In particular, we prove a weighted Poincaré type inequality for such functions. An extension to weighted Sobolev spaces is sketched.

Pseudoconvex domains spread over complex homogeneous manifolds

Using the concept of inner integral curves defined by Hirschowitz we generalize a recent result by Kim, Levenberg and Yamaguchi concerning the obstruction of a pseudoconvex domain spread over a complex homogeneous manifold to be Stein. This is then applied to study the holomorphic reduction of pseudoconvex complex homogeneous manifolds X = G/H. Under the assumption that G is solvable or reductive we prove that X is the total space of a G-equivariant holomorphic fiber bundle over a Stein manifold such that all holomorphic functions on the fiber are constant.     

Some remarks and problems on complex homogeneous domains

Semilinear problems in unbounded domains

As formulated by Silva [E.A. de B.e. Silva, Linking theorems and applications to semilinear elliptic problems at resonance, Nonlinear Anal. 16 (1991) 455-477] and Schechter [M. Schechter, A generalization of the saddle point method with applications, Ann. Polon. Math. 57 (3) (1992) 269-281; M. Schechter, New saddle point theorems, in: Generalized Functions and Their Applications, Varanasi, 1991, Plenum, New York, 1993, pp. 213-219], the sandwich theorem has become a very useful tool in finding critical points of functionals leading to solutions of partial differential equations. In the present paper, this theorem is strengthened to apply to more general situations. We present some applications.     

Examples of the nonuniqueness of solutions of the mixed problem for the heat equation in unbounded domains

For a wide class of domains of revolution, we construct examples of the nonuniqueness of solutions of the first mixed problem for the heat equation, which supports the exactness of a uniqueness class of T?cklind type.     

Solutions to boundary value problem of fractional order on unbounded domains in a Banach space

In this paper, by means of Darbo’s fixed point theorem, we establish the existence result of solutions to a boundary value problem of fractional differential equation on the half-line in a Banach space. An example illustrating our main result is given.     

Positive integral operators in unbounded domains

We study positive integral operators in with continuous kernel k(x,y). We show that if the operator is compact and Hilbert-Schmidt. If in addition k(x,x)→0 as |x|→∞, k is represented by an absolutely and uniformly convergent bilinear series of uniformly continuous eigenfunctions and is trace class. Replacing the first assumption by the stronger then and the bilinear series converges also in L¹. Sharp norm bounds are obtained and Mercer's theorem is derived as a special case.

The dam problem in unbounded domains

Summary The time dependent dam problem in a general unbounded domain is studied and an existence theorem is proved by means of a rather general approximation procedure. Moreover the propagation of the support of the solution is studied in a number of geometrical situations of interest. The corresponding stationary problem is also studied and an existence theorem is proved. Finally several one-dimensional examples are given in which the solution can be either written explicitely or found solving an ordinary differential equation.This work has been supported by MURST (Italy), by I.A.N.-C.N.R. of Pavia (Italy), and by SFB 123 of University of Heidelberg (Germany).     

Minimal graphs in over unbounded domains

We study the existence of minimal graphs in with prescribed boundary data, possibly infinite. We give necessary and sufficient conditions on the “lengths” of the sides of the inscribed polygons in an unbounded domain in ?², that yield solutions to the minimal surface equation with prescribed boundary data.

Explicit formula of holomorphic automorphism group on complex homogeneous bounded domains

We known that the maximal connected holomorphic automorphism group Aut (D)(0) is a semi-direct product of the triangle group T(D) and the maximal connected isotropic subgroup Iso(D)(0) of a fixed point in the complex homogeneous bounded domain D and any complex homogeneous bounded domain is holomorphic isomorphic to a normal Siegel domain D(VN,F). In this paper, we give the explicit formula of any holomorphic automorphism in T(D(VN, F)) and Iso(D(VN,F))(0), where G(0) is the unit connected component of the Lie group G.     

Examples of chain domains

Let be a nonzero ordinal such that for every ordinal . A chain domain (i.e. a domain with linearly ordered lattices of left ideals and right ideals) is constructed such that is isomorphic with all its nonzero factor-rings and is the ordinal type of the set of proper ideals of . The construction provides answers to some open questions.

     

Higher-order parabolic variational inequality in unbounded domains

We prove the existence and uniqueness of a solution of a nonlinear parabolic variational inequality in an unbounded domain without conditions at infinity. In particular, the initial data may infinitely increase at infinity, and a solution of the inequality is unique without any restrictions on its behavior at infinity.
