Nonlinear waves on periodic backgrounds play an important role in physical systems. In this study, nonlinear waves that include solitons, breathers, rogue waves, and semi-rational solutions on periodic backgrounds for the coupled Lakshmanan-Porsezian-Daniel equations are investigated. Moreover, the interactions between different types of nonlinear waves are examined and their dynamic behaviors are studied. In particular, it is observed that bright-dark rogue waves interact with bright-dark breathers or solitons on periodic backgrounds, four-petaled breathers interact with two eye-shaped breathers on periodic backgrounds, and a four-petal rogue wave interplays with a rogue wave on periodic backgrounds. Furthermore, it is found that the value of the parameter γ3 affects the weak and strong interactions of these nonlinear waves. These results may be useful in the study of nonlinear wave dynamics in coupled nonlinear wave models.  相似文献

We study the spectra of the Peregrine soliton and higher-order rational solutions of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE), which we use as a model of the rogue waves in optics and in the deep ocean. We show that these solutions have specific triangular spectra that are certainly easily measurable in optical systems and which may be amenable to characterisation in ocean environments. As the triangular feature of the solutions appears at an early stage of their evolution, this raises the possibility of early detection and possible localized warning of the appearance of rogue waves. We anticipate that studying the characteristics of “early warning spectra” of rogue waves may become an important future field of research.  相似文献

Solutions of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation, appearing as rogue waves on a spatially-periodic background envelope, are obtained using the Darboux transformation scheme. Several particular examples are illustrated numerically. These include soliton and breather solutions on a periodic background as well as higher-order structures. The results enrich our knowledge of possible analytic solutions that describe the appearance of rogue waves in a variety of situations. This work is prepared on the occasion of Prof. Helmut Brand's 60th birthday. He has made significant contributions to the science of solitons and his ideas have inspired our research into localised formations in various physical contexts.  相似文献

It is proved that rogue waves can be found in Korteweg de-Vries(KdV) systems if real nonintegrable effects, higher order nonlinearity and nonlinear diffusion are considered. Most of the processes resulting in the formation of unexpectedly high surface waves in deep water (such as dispersive and geometrical focusing, interactions with currents and internal waves, reflection from caustic areas, etc.) are active also in shallow areas. Only the mechanism of modulational instability is not active in finite depth conditions. Instead, wave amplification along certain coastal profiles and the drastic dependence of the run-up height on the incident wave shape may substantially contribute to the formation of rogue waves in the nearshore. A unique source of long-living rogue waves (that has no analogues in the deep ocean) is the nonlinear interaction of obliquely propagating solitary shallow-water waves and an equivalent mechanism of Mach reflection of waves from the coast. The characteristic features of these processes are (i) extreme amplification of the steepness of the wave fronts, (ii) change in the orientation of the largest wave crests compared with that of the counterparts and (iii) rapid displacement of the location of the extreme wave humps along the crests of the interacting waves. The presence of coasts raises a number of related questions such as the possibility of conversion of rogue waves into sneaker waves with extremely high run-up. Also, the reaction of bottom sediments and the entire coastal zone to the rogue waves may be drastic.  相似文献

We analytically study optical rogue waves in the presence of quintic nonlinearity and nonlinear dispersion effects. Dynamics of the rogue waves are investigated through the precise expressions of their peak, valley, trajectory, and width. Based on this, the properties of a few specific rogue waves are demonstrated in detail, and the dynamical evolution of rogue waves can be well controlled under different nonlinearity management. It shows that the peak reaches its maximum and the valley becomes minimized when the width evolves to the minimum value. Moreover, we find that the higher-order effects here achieve balance due to the integrability, and they only influence the rogue waves' trajectory.  相似文献

In addition to deep-water rogue waves which develop from the modulation instability of an optical CW, wave propagation in optical fibers may also produce shallow water rogue waves. These extreme wave events are generated in the modulationally stable normal dispersion regime. A suitable phase or frequency modulation of a CW laser leads to chirp-free and flat-top pulses or flaticons which exhibit a stable self-similar evolution. Upon collision, flaticons at different carrier frequencies, which may also occur in wavelength division multiplexed transmission systems, merge into a single, high-intensity, temporally and spatially localized rogue pulse.  相似文献

We provide some general physical insights into the emergence of rogue wave events from optical turbulence by analyzing the long term evolution of the field. Depending on the amount of incoherence in the system (i.e., Hamiltonian), we identify three turbulent regimes that lead to the emergence of specific rogue wave events: (i) persistent and coherent rogue quasi-solitons, (ii) intermittent-like rogue quasi-solitons that appear and disappear erratically, and (iii) sporadic rogue waves events that emerge from turbulent fluctuations as bursts of light or intense flashes.  相似文献

We study some novel patterns of rogue wave in the coupled cubic-quintic nonlinear Schrödinger equations. Utilizing the generalized Darboux transformation, the higher-order rogue wave pairs of the coupled system are generated. Especially, the first-and second-order rogue wave pairs are discussed in detail. It demonstrates that two classical fundamental rogue waves can be emerged from the first-order case and four or six classical fundamental rogue waves from the second-order case. In the second-order rogue wave solution, the distribution structures can be in triangle, quadrilateral and ring shapes by fixing appropriate values of the free parameters. In contrast to single-component systems, there are always more abundant rogue wave structures in multi-component ones. It is shown that the two higher-order nonlinear coefficients ρ1 and ρ2 make some skews of the rogue waves.  相似文献

The intriguing dark and composite rogue wave dynamics in a coupled Hirota system are unveiled, based on the exact explicit rational solutions obtained under the assumption of equal background height. It is found that a dark rogue wave state would occur as a result of the strong coupling between two field components with large wavenumber difference, and there would appear plenty of composite structures that are attributed to the specific wavenumber difference and the free choice of three independent structural parameters. The coexistence of different fundamental rogue waves in such a coupled system is also demonstrated.  相似文献

Rogue waves are more precisely defined as waves whose height is more than twice the significant wave height. This remarkable height was measured (by Draupner in 1995). Thus, the need for constructing a mechanism for the rogue waves is of great utility. This motivated us to suggest a mechanism, in this work, that rogue waves may be constructed via nonlinear interactions of solitons and periodic waves. This suggestion is consolidated here, in an example, by studying the behavior of solutions of the complex (KdV). This is done here by the extending the solutions of its real version.  相似文献

The coupled nonlinear volatility and option pricing model presented recently by Ivancevic is investigated, which generates a leverage effect, i.e., stock volatility is (negatively) correlated to stock returns, and can be regarded as a coupled nonlinear wave alternative of the Black-Scholes option pricing model. In this Letter, we analytically propose vector financial rogue waves of the coupled nonlinear volatility and option pricing model without an embedded w-learning. Moreover, we exhibit their dynamical behaviors for chosen different parameters. The vector financial rogue wave (rogon) solutions may be used to describe the possible physical mechanisms for the rogue wave phenomena and to further excite the possibility of relative researches and potential applications of vector rogue waves in the financial markets and other related fields.  相似文献

Under investigation in this work is the general coupled nonlinear Schrödinger (gCNLS) equation, which can be used to describe a wide variety of physical processes. By using Darboux transformation, the new higher-order rogue wave solutions of the equation are well constructed. These solutions exhibit rogue waves on a multi-soliton background. Moreover, the dynamics of these solutions is graphically discussed. Our results would be of much importance in enriching and predicting rogue wave phenomena arising in nonlinear and complex systems.  相似文献

We present an explicit analytical form of first and second order rogue waves for distributive nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE) by mapping it to standard NLSE through similarity transformation. Upon obtaining the rogue wave solutions, we study the propagation of rogue waves through a periodically distributed system for the two cases when Wronskian of dispersion and nonlinearity is (i) zero, (ii) not equal to zero. For the former case, we discuss a mechanism to control their propagation and for the latter case we depict the interesting features of rogue waves as they propagate through dispersion increasing and decreasing fiber.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate a (2+1)-dimensional generalized Konopelchenko-Dubrovsky-Kaup-Ku-pershmidt equation. The lump waves, lumpoff waves, and rogue waves are presented based on the Hirota bilinear form of this equation. It is worth noting that the moving path as well as the appearance time and place of the lump waves are given. Moreover, the special rogue waves are considered when lump solution is swallowed by double solitons. Finally, the corresponding characteristics of the dynamical behavior are displayed.  相似文献

Extensive numerical simulations were performed to investigate all stages of modulation instability development from the initial pulse of pico-second duration in photonic crystal fiber: quasi-solitons and dispersive waves formation, their interaction stage and the further propagation. Comparison between 4 different NLS-like systems was made: the classical NLS equation, NLS system plus higher dispersion terms, NLS plus higher dispersion and self-steepening and also fully generalized NLS equation with Raman scattering taken into account. For the latter case a mechanism of energy transfer from smaller quasi-solitons to the bigger ones is proposed to explain the dramatical increase of rogue waves appearance frequency in comparison to the systems when the Raman scattering is not taken into account.  相似文献
