This Letter presents a scheme to embed both angular/spectral surface plasmon resonance (SPR) in a unique far-field rainbow feature by tightly focusing (effective NA=1.45) a polychromatic radially polarized beam on an Au (20 nm)/SiO2 (500 nm)/Au (20 nm) sandwich structure. Without the need for angular or spectral scanning, the virtual spectral probe snapshots a wide operation range (n=1-1.42; λ=400-700 nm) of SPR excitation in a locally nanosized region. Combined with the high-speed spectral analysis, a proof-of-concept scenario was given by monitoring the NaCl liquid concentration change in real time. The proposed scheme will certainly has a promising impact on the development of objective-based SPR sensor and biometric studies due to its rapidity and versatility.  相似文献

By changing the incident angle, the authors demonstrate a surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) deflector based on the particular properties of a nano-scale double-slit. The electromagnetic wave along one direction on the metal surface can be enhanced or suppressed, which can be achieved with appropriate structural parameters. Numerical results of the investigated structure are presented through finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulation.  相似文献

Dielectric microspheres can confine light in a three-dimensional (3D) region called photonic nanojet is shown when they are illuminated by different polarized beams. The influence of incident light polarization on photonic nanojet using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is demostrated. The axial field intensity profiles of photonic nanojets for both the linear and circular polarization incident beams are very similar. Azimuthal polarization incident beam induces a doughnut beam along the optical axis, while the radial polarization incident beam permits one to reach an effective volume as small as 0.7(λ/n) 3 .  相似文献

A coupled frequency-doubling optoelectronic oscillator (OEO) is proposed and experimentally demonstrated, which is constructed based on the perfect combination of polarization modulation and polarization multiplexing. A fundamental microwave signal at 9.95 GHz or a frequency-doubled microwave signal at 19.9 GHz is generated with a wavelength-independent sidemode-suppression ratio (SMSR) as high as 78 dB obtained. The phase noise of the generated 19.9-GHz signal is ? 103.45 dBc/Hz at 10-kHz frequency offset, indicating a good short-term stability. The proposed scheme is simple and flexible, which can find applications in radars and wireless communications.  相似文献

Using a two-dimensional CCD array, a photoelastic modulator, and a commercial Nomarski microscope, we built a differential polarization interferometer. Multichannel lock-in detection of the signal allowed us to reach a shot-noise limit corresponding to 5-pm path differences for a few seconds of recording time. This interferometer was used as a surface profilometer as well as a system for imaging through scattering media.  相似文献

A theoretical and experimental study of light polarization modulation in single-mode anisotropic optical fibres is presented. The problem of increasing polarization modulation efficiency in slightly and strongly anisotropic fibres is considered. The requirements to be met by the optical configuration for efficient polarization modulation with both slightly and strongly anisotropic fibres are discussed. The polarization modulation signal is found to be immune to external effects on the fibre under compensated birefringence. An experimental polarization modulation-based fibredyne video transmission data highway is presented.  相似文献

Laser action was generated in dye-doped sol–gel glass waveguides and in liquid solutions by crossing two beams from a frequency-doubled neodymium:YAG laser. The angle between the polarization directions of the two beams was varied continuously from 90. The case of 0° corresponded to pure intensity modulation. As the angle increased, the degree of intensity modulation decreased, resulting in the decline and finally the demise of the laser output. At 90°, corresponding to pure polarization modulation, distributed feedback laser action with narrow line-width output was again observed when the pump energy was increased three-fold. The laser output also showed different polarization characteristics when the feedback mechanism was changed from intensity modulation to polarization modulation. Supercontinuum generation is dependent on the polarization state of the incident laser. The polarization of the generated supercontinuum is the same as that of the incident laser. The magnitude of the generated supercontinuum depends on the polarization of the incident laser and increases as the polarization changes from circular to linear, irrespective of the nature of the sample, be it isotropic, anisotropic, or chiral. In all samples, the polarization dependence indicates a preference for the linear component of the incident laser beam. The anisotropic sample shows an additional difference in the generated supercontinuum for the two perpendicular directions of the incident laser polarization. PACS 42.25.Ja; 42.65.Ky  相似文献

基于标量衍射理论建立了光谱色散平滑(SSD)、随机相位板(RPP)和偏振匀滑(PS)联用的光束匀滑方案数值仿真模型。以斑纹对比度和偏振度为主要评价参量,利用该模型研究了径向偏振调制的匀滑及消偏振特性。研究表明,径向偏振调制可以有效降低聚焦光斑斑纹对比度和偏振度。使用半波片拼接方式产生近似径向偏振光时,拼接单元数对匀滑及偏振特性影响较小,8片拼接的匀滑效果已与理想径向偏振光几乎一致。对比分析了径向偏振调制、正交偏振调制和双折射楔三种PS方式,结果表明,由于三种PS方式本质上的一致性,光束的匀滑及偏振特性差别较小。  相似文献

This note reports on the effects of the polarization state of an incident quasi-monochromatic parallel beam of radiation and the orientation of a hexagonal ice particle with respect to the incident direction on the extinction process. When the incident beam is aligned with the six-fold rotational symmetry axis, the extinction is independent of the polarization state of the incident light. For other orientations, the extinction cross-section for linearly polarized light can be either larger or smaller than its counterpart for an unpolarized incident beam. Therefore, the attenuation of a quasi-monochromatic radiation beam by an ice cloud depends on the polarization state of the beam if ice crystals within the cloud are not randomly oriented. Furthermore, a case study of the extinction of light by a quartz particle is also presented to illustrate the dependence of the extinction cross-section on the polarization state of the incident light.  相似文献

A quantum identification scheme including registration and identification phases is proposed. The users‘ passwords are transmitted by qubit string and recorded as a set of quantum operators. The security of the proposed scheme is guaranteed by the no-cloning theorem. A novel phase-control method with application to phase-shifting interferometry is presented. The linear polarization state of an external (green) light beam is recorded on a bacteriorhodopsin film, and this polarization state is read by a circular polarized (red) laser beam. By reading the bacteriorhodopsin film, the original (red) wave reverses its circularity and becomes phase shifted by an amount that is dependent on the polarization of the external (green) beam. This method of phase control can be applied in a two-beam interferometer in which the test and reference waves are orthogonally polarized, which allows one to obtain phase modulation without moving parts inside the interferometer.  相似文献

Traditional detour‐phase hologram is a powerful optical device for manipulating phase and amplitude of light, but it is usually not sensitive to the polarization of light. By introducing the light‐metasurface interaction mechanism to the traditional detour phase hologram, we design a novel plasmonic nano‐slits assisted polarization selective detour phase meta‐hologram, which has attractive advantages of polarization multiplexing ability, broadband response, and ultra‐compact size. The meta‐hologram relies on the dislocations of plasmonic slits to achieve arbitrary phase distributions, showing strong polarization selectivity to incident light due to the plasmonic response of deep‐subwavelength slits. To verify its polarization sensitive and broadband responses, we experimentally demonstrate two holographic patterns of an optical vortex and an Airy beam at p‐ and s‐polarized light with wavelengths of 532nm, 633nm and 780nm, respectively. Furthermore, we realize an application example of the meta‐hologram as a polarization multiplexed photonic device for multi‐channel optical angular momentum (OAM) generation and detection. Such meta‐holograms could find widespread applications in photonics, such as chip‐level beam shaping and high‐capacity OAM communication.

An infrared meander-line waveplate has been modeled and measured over the 8 to 12 microm spectral band in terms of its differential phase delay, axial ratio of the output polarization ellipse, and power throughput for angles of incidence between 0 degrees and 60 degrees. The study has been performed for planes of incidence parallel and perpendicular to the meander-line axis. The main significance is that the phase delay remains almost unaffected by the angle of incidence. Infrared meander-line retarders can thus be used well beyond the paraxial range as in low-f/# optical systems and in non-normal-incidence applications.  相似文献

In this paper, a hybridized plasmonic waveguide system is investigated numerically. By coupling plasmonic modes with different waveguide modes, two plasmon induced transparency (PIT) windows with high transmittance and deep modulation can be realized. A novel polarization filter based on plasmonic photonic crystal fiber with Au-coated and liquid-filled air holes is presented in this paper. The coupling theory is introduced to explain the complete coupling and incomplete coupling. We can adjust the resonance point to the communication band by optimizing the parameters of the fiber structure. Numerical simulation results demonstrate that the resonance strength can reach 489.78 dB cm\(^{-1}\) at the communication wavelength of 1.55 um in x-polarized direction. By filling liquid analyte the confinement loss can reach 572.55 dB cm\(^{-1}\) at the wavelength of 1.55 um. When the fiber length of L equals to 800 um, the peak value of the crosstalk can reach 394.75 dB at the wavelength of 1.55 um, and the bandwidth of the crosstalk better than 20 dB is up to 180 nm when the length of the fiber L is 200 um. These features make it a promising candidate for designing new types of polarization filter devices.  相似文献

为了满足光的偏振特性测量要求,设计了一套激光偏振度测量仪。该装置利用旋转1/4波片对光波进行调制,通过对调制信号进行傅里叶分析获得光源的偏振度。利用测量光功率的方式对激光偏振度测量仪的偏振度进行校准,实验结果表明,所研制的激光偏振度测量仪测量精度优于0.5%,满足高精度激光偏振度测量需求。  相似文献

本文在基于二次偏振调制激光测距系统的基础上, 对调制频率与激光测距系统精度的关系做了深入的理论推导和实验验证. 最终得出结论: 相位法激光测距系统的测量精度会随着调制频率的增大而提高, 且精度的提高程度正比于调制频率的不确定度Δf与测程范围内半波长数N值的比值. 并通过选取合适的调制频率来提高系统的测距精度, 提高后的测距精度可达10-7.  相似文献

A grating-coupled surface plasmon resonance (GCSPR) technique based on polarization modulation in conical mounting is presented. A metallic grating is azimuthally rotated to support double-surface plasmon polariton excitation and exploit the consequent sensitivity enhancement. Corresponding to the resonance polar angle, a polarization scan of incident light is performed, and reflectivity data are collected before and after functionalization with a dodecanethiol self-assembled monolayer. The output signal exhibits a harmonic dependence on polarization, and the phase term is used as a parameter for sensing. This technique offers the possibility of designing extremely compact, fast, and cheap high-resolution plasmonic sensors based on GCSPR.  相似文献

We present a geometrical analysis on the Poincaré sphere of the complex (amplitude and phase) response of polarization modulation systems. The proposed method can be applied to analyze non-cyclic polarization changes and, in particular, the phase is evaluated through the geometric Pancharatnam–Berry phase and the Pancharatnam connection between the initial and the final state. The method can be very useful to analyze and intuitively understand the complex modulation mechanism in polarization modulation devices such as liquid crystal displays.  相似文献
