In this paper, we study Lagrangian submanifolds of the nearly Kaehler 6-sphere. We derive a pinching result for the Ricci curvature of such submanifolds thus providing a characterisation of the totally geodesic submanifold. Our pinching result improves a previous result obtained by H. Li.  相似文献

Semi-Slant Submanifolds of a Sasakian Manifold   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We define and study both bi-slant and semi-slant submanifolds of an almost contact metric manifold and, in particular, of a Sasakian manifold. We prove a characterization theorem for semi-slant submanifolds and we obtain integrability conditions for the distributions which are involved in the definition of such submanifolds. We also study an interesting particular class of semi-slant submanifolds.  相似文献

Austere submanifolds and arid submanifolds constitute respectively two different classes of minimal submanifolds in finite dimensional Riemannian manifolds. In this paper we introduce the concepts of these submanifolds into a class of proper Fredholm (PF) submanifolds in Hilbert spaces, discuss their relation and show examples of infinite dimensional austere PF submanifolds and arid PF submanifolds in Hilbert spaces. We also mention a classification problem of minimal orbits in hyperpolar PF actions on Hilbert spaces.  相似文献

The authors derive curvature estimates for minimal submanifolds in Euclidean space for arbitrary dimension and codimension via Gauss map. Thus, Schoen-Simon-Yau's results and Ecker-Huisken's results are generalized to higher codimension. In this way, Hildebrandt-Jost-Widman's result for the Bernstein type theorem is improved.  相似文献

Warped product manifolds are known to have applications in physics. For instance, they provide an excellent setting to model space-time near a black hole or a massive star (cf. [9]). The studies on warped product manifolds with extrinsic geometric point of view were intensified after the B.Y. Chen's work on CR-warped product submanifolds of Kaehler manifolds (cf. [6], [7]). Later on, similar studies were carried out in the setting of l.c.K. manifolds and nearly Kaehler manifolds (cf. [3], [11]). In the present article, we investigate a larger class of warped product submanifolds of l.c.K. manifolds, ensure their existence by constructing an example of such manifolds and obtain some important properties of these submanifolds. With regard to the CR-warped product submanifold, a special case of generic warped product submanifolds, we obtain a characterization under which a CR-submanifold is reducesd to a CR-warped product submanifold.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the coisotropic submanifolds in a Kähler manifold of nonnegative holomorphic curvature. We prove an intersection theorem for compact totally geodesic coisotropic submanifolds and discuss some topological obstructions for the existence of such submanifolds. Our results apply to Lagrangian submanifolds and real hypersurfaces since the class of coisotropic submanifolds includes them. As an application, we give a fixed-point theorem for compact Kähler manifolds with positive holomorphic curvature. Also, our results can be further extended to nearly Kähler manifolds.  相似文献

In this paper, using optimization methods on Riemannian submanifolds, we establish two improved inequalities for generalized normalized δ-Casorati curvatures of Lagrangian submanifolds in complex space forms. We provide examples showing that these inequalities are the best possible and classify all Casorati ideal Lagrangian submanifolds (in the sense of B.-Y. Chen) in a complex space form. In particular, we generalize the recent results obtained in G.E. Vîlcu (2018) [34].  相似文献

We prove that the associativity equations of two-dimensional topological quantum field theories are very natural reductions of the fundamental nonlinear equations of the theory of submanifolds in pseudo-Euclidean spaces and give a natural class of flat torsionless potential submanifolds. We show that all flat torsionless potential submanifolds in pseudo-Euclidean spaces bear natural structures of Frobenius algebras on their tangent spaces. These Frobenius structures are generated by the corresponding flat first fundamental form and the set of the second fundamental forms of the submanifolds (in fact, the structural constants are given by the set of the Weingarten operators of the submanifolds). We prove that each N-dimensional Frobenius manifold can be locally represented as a flat torsionless potential submanifold in a 2N-dimensional pseudo-Euclidean space. By our construction, this submanifold is uniquely determined up to motions. Moreover, we consider a nonlinear system that is a natural generalization of the associativity equations, namely, the system describing all flat torsionless submanifolds in pseudo-Euclidean spaces, and prove that this system is integrable by the inverse scattering method. An n-dimensional submanifold X of a projective space P N (C) is called tangentially degenerate if the rank of its Gauss mapping gamma;; X G(n, N) satisfies 0 < rank < n. The authors systematically study the geometry of tangentially degenerate submanifolds of a projective space P N (C). By means of the focal images, three basic types of submanifolds are discovered: cones, tangentially degenerate hypersurfaces, and torsal submanifolds. Moreover, for tangentially degenerate submanifolds, a structural theorem is proven. By this theorem, tangentially degenerate submanifolds that do not belong to one of the basic types are foliated into submanifolds of basic types. In the proof the authors introduce irreducible, reducible, and completely reducible tangentially degenerate submanifolds. It is found that cones and tangentially degenerate hypersurfaces are irreducible, and torsal submanifolds are completely reducible while all other tangentially degenerate submanifolds not belonging to basic types are reducible.  相似文献

The homotopy connectedness theorem for invariant immersions in Sasakian manifolds with nonnegative transversal q-bisectional curvature is proved. Some Barth-Lefschetz type theorems for minimal submanifolds and (k, ?)-saddle submanifolds in Sasakian manifolds with positive transversal q-Ricci curvature are proved by using the weak (?-)asymptotic index. We give a procedure to ‘average’ canonically C1-close Legendrian submanifolds of contact manifolds. As a corollary we obtain that, whenever a compact group action leaves a Legendrian submanifold almost invariant, there is an invariant Legendrian submanifold nearby.
