We prove that the G-invariant orbital measures supported on adjoint orbits in the Lie algebra of a classical, compact, connected, simple Lie group satisfy a smoothness dichotomy: Either μ k is singular to Lebesgue measure or μ k L 2. The minimum k for which μ k L 2 is specified and is also the minimum k such that the k-fold sum of the orbit has positive measure. S. K. For a pair of linear bounded operators and on a complex Banach space , if commutes with then the orbits of under are uniformly bounded. The study of the converse implication was started in the 1970s by J. A. Deddens. In this paper, we present a new approach to this type of question using two localization theorems; one is an operator version of a theorem of tauberian type given by Katznelson-Tzafriri and the second one is on power-bounded operators by Gelfand-Hille. This improves former results of Deddens-Stampfli-Williams.  相似文献

This expository article is an introduction to the adjoint orbits of complex semisimple groups, primarily in the algebro-geometric and Lie-theoretic contexts, and with a pronounced emphasis on the properties of semisimple and nilpotent orbits. It is intended to build a foundation for more specialized settings in which adjoint orbits feature prominently (ex. hyperkähler geometry, Landau–Ginzburg models, and the theory of symplectic singularities). Also included are a few arguments and observations that, to the author’s knowledge, have not yet appeared in the research literature.  相似文献

For certain nilpotent real Lie groups constructed as semidirect products, algebras of invariant differential operators on some coadjoint orbits are used in the study of boundedness properties of the Weyl–Pedersen calculus of their corresponding unitary irreducible representations. Our main result is applicable to all unitary irreducible representations of arbitrary 3-step nilpotent Lie groups.  相似文献

We establish the concurrence of the existence of a canonical linear embedding, enabling us to pass to the Darboux coordinates on the coadjoint orbits, and the existence of a polarization of a certain linear functional. In a corollary to the main theorem we prove that every polarization is normal, which means that it satisfies the Pukansky condition.  相似文献

In this paper we establish results on the existence of Lyapunov families of periodic orbits of reversible systems in around an equilibrium that presents a 0:1:1-resonance. The main proofs are based on a combined use of normal form theory, Lyapunov–Schmidt reduction and elements of symbolic computation. This work was supported by France–Brazil cooperation.  相似文献

David Vogan gave programmatic conjectures about the Dixmier's map and he made two conjectures that induction may be independent of the choice of parabolic group used and the sheets of orbit data are conjugated or disjointed[1]. In our previous paper, we gave a geometric version of the parabolic induction of the geometric orbit datum (i.e. orbit covers), and proved Vogan's first conjecture for geometric orbit datum:the parabolic induction of the geometric orbit datum is independent of the choice of parabolic group. In this paper, we will prove the other Vogan's conjecture, that is, the sheets are conjugated or disjointed for classical semisimple complex groups.``  相似文献

We show that the Lusternik–Schnirelmann category of a simple, simply connected, compact Lie group G is bounded above by the sum of the relative categories of certain distinguished conjugacy classes in G corresponding to the vertices of the fundamental alcove for the action of the affine Weyl group on the Lie algebra of a maximal torus of G.  相似文献

Vogan conjectured that the parabolic induction of orbit data is independent of the choice of the parabolic subgroup. In this paper we first give the parabolic induction of orbit covers, whose relationship with geometric orbit datum is also induced. Hence we show a geometric interpretation of orbit data and finally prove the conjugation for geometric orbit datum using geometric method.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to give the classification of the Bott-Virasoro coadjoint orbits, with nonzero central charge, in the functional analytic setting of smooth Hilbert manifolds. The central object of the paper is thus the completion of the Bott-Virasoro group with respect to a Sobolev topology, giving rise to a smooth Hilbert manifold and topological group, called the Sobolev Bott-Virasoro group. As a consequence of this approach, analytic and geometric properties of the coadjoint orbits are studied.  相似文献

This paper discusses the spectra of matrix subdivision operators. We establish some formulas for spectral radii of subdivision operators on various invariant subspaces in . A formula for the spectral radius of a subdivision operator, in terms of the moduli of eigenvalues, is derived under a mild condition. The results are even new in the scalar case. In this case, we show that the subdivision operator has no eigenvector in if the corresponding subdivision scheme converges for some .

The main aim of this article is to present inequalities for the numerical radius of commutators of positive matrices. Some of these inequalities are analogues of known inequalities for unitarily invariant norms. This article proposes a Monte Carlo approach for the evaluation of integrals of smooth functions defined on compact Lie groups. The approach is based on the ergodic property of Brownian processes in compact Lie groups. The article provides an elementary proof of this property and obtains the following results. It gives the rate of almost sure convergence of time averages along with a “large deviations” type upper bound and a central limit theorem. It derives probability of error bounds for uniform approximation of the paths of Brownian processes using two numerical schemes. Finally, it describes generalization to compact Riemannian manifolds.  相似文献

Some structure theorems for compact abelian groups are derived and used to show that every closed subset of an infinite compact metrizable group is the fixed point set of an autohomeomorphism. It is also shown that any metrizable product containing a positive-dimensional compact group as a factor has the property that every closed subset is the fixed point set of an autohomeomorphism.

设Γ是一作用在R^n上的紧李群,P_n(Γ)是Γ不变的多项式芽构成的环. Hilbert-Weyl定理证明了对于P_n(Γ)总存在一组由Γ不变的齐次多项式芽组成的Hilbert基. 然而,如何从Γ不变的齐次多项式芽中选出一组Hilbert基?如何判定Γ不变的齐次多项式芽的一个有限集就是P_n(Γ)的一组Hilbert基?该文借助于Noether环和不变积分的某些基本性质以及奇点理论的有关定理,证明了判定P_n(Γ)的Hilbert基的一个充要条件. 这对某些P_n(Γ)提供了计算一组Hilbert基的新途径.  相似文献
