We describe states on by using sequences of unit vectors in . We study the linear functionals on the Cuntz algebra whose restrictions are the product pure state on . We find conditions on the sequence of unit vectors for which the corresponding linear functionals on become states under these conditions.

A class of C∗-algebras called quantum Heisenberg manifolds were introduced by Rieffel in (Comm. Math. Phys. 122 (1989) 531) as strict deformation quantization of Heisenberg manifolds. Using the ergodic action of Heisenberg group we construct a family of spectral triples. It is shown that associated Kasparov modules are homotopic. We also show that they induce cohomologous elements in entire cyclic cohomology. The space of Connes-deRham forms have been explicitly calculated. Then we characterize torsionless/unitary connections and show that there does not exist a connection that is simultaneously torsionless and unitary. Explicit examples of connections are produced with negative scalar curvature. This part illustrates computations involving some of the concepts introduced in Frohlich et al. (Comm. Math. Phys. 203 (1999) 119), for which to the best of our knowledge no infinite-dimensional example is known other that the noncommutative torus.  相似文献

We construct an analog of the classical theta function on an abelian variety for the Kodaira-Thurston nilmanifold, which is defined as a (nonholomorphic) section of a special complex line bundle over the Kodaira-Thurston manifold. The theta functions we introduce are used for a canonical symplectic embedding of the Kodaira-Thurston manifold into a complex projective space (an analog of the Lefschetz theorem).  相似文献

If f(x 1, …, x n ) is a polynomial dependent on a large number of independent Bernoulli random variables, what can be said about the maximum concentration of f on any single value? For linear polynomials, this reduces to one version of the classical Littlewood-Offord problem: Given nonzero constants a 1, …,a n , what is the maximum number of sums of the form ±a 1 ± a 2 ± … ± a n which take on any single value? Here we consider the case where f is either a bilinear form or a quadratic form. For the bilinear case, we show that the only forms having concentration significantly larger than n ?1 are those which are in a certain sense very close to being degenerate. For the quadratic case, we show that no form having many nonzero coefficients has concentration significantly larger than n ?1/2. In both cases the results are nearly tight.  相似文献

Bilinear flocks     
A flock in PG(3, q) is a set of q planes which do not contain the vertex of a cone and have the property that the intersections of the planes of the flock with the cone partition the points of the cone except for the vertex. In this paper, we examine flocks, called bilinear flocks, where the planes of the flock pass through at least one of two distinct lines, called supporting lines in PG(3, q). We classify and provide examples of cones that admit bilinear flocks whose supporting lines intersect in PG(3, q). We also examine bilinear flocks whose supporting lines are skew, providing an example and also showing that this situation can not occur under certain conditions.  相似文献

The Iwasawa manifold is a compact, complex threefold which is not Kähler; but, endowed with the natural hermitian metric, it is balanced. Thus, complex hypersurfaces are homologically area-minimizing, though this does not hold for complex curves. Some interesting pathologies in fact happen.  相似文献
