Abstract

A method for the spectrophotometrio determination of copper(II), in the presence of iron(III) cations (excess), was stablished. The masking of iron is made with sodium fluoride salt in 50 % (v/v) water/acetone medium. In the recommended conditions, absorbances for cupric complexes are measured at 435 nm where molar absorptivity is 6.00 × 103 1 mol?1 cm?1.

The stable ayetern obeys Beer's law and is suitable for the copper determination in concentration range from 2.0 to 9.0 mg 1?l. The iron(III) ion interference (until ca. 600 mg 1?l) can be completely suppressed. The influence of diverse ions and several others factore were studied.

The results show that copper(II) can be accurately determined by azide apectrophotometric method, if the samples were suitablely treated by the recommended procedure.  相似文献

Abstract

Spectrophotometric procedure is described for the quantitative determination of diphenadione [2-(diphenylacetyl)-1,3-indandione], based on direct spectrophotometric measurements of the absorbances of its iron (III), iron (II) and cobalt (II), metal complexes at 488 nm, 505 nm and (334 nm, 372 nm), respectively. The drug reacts with metals in the ratio of 3:1 and 2:1 for iron (III) and for both iron (II) and cobalt (II) respectively. The obtained complexes have apparent molar absorptivities of 1.48 × 103 1 mol?1 cm?1, 0.714 × 103 1 mol?1cm?1 and (1.70 × 103 1 mol?1cm?1, 1.93 × 103 1 mol?1cm?1) for iron (III), iron (II) and cobalt (II) complexes, respectively. The procedure is suggested for the determination of 51–400 μg.ml?1 diphenadione via the iron (II) complex and 35–170 μg.ml?1 diphenadione via both cobalt (II) and iron (III) complexes. The suggested procedure has accuracies of 99.79 ± 0.67%, 99.64 ± 0.37% and (100.09 ± 0.53%, 99.99 ± 0.42%) for the metal complexes of iron (III), iron (II) and cobalt (II), respectively.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The complex equilibria of iron(III) with 2-hydroxy-3-pyridinol (HHP), and 2-mercapto-3-pyridinol (MHP) were studied spectrophotometrically in 40% (v/v) ethanol and an ionic strength of 0.1M (NaCIO4). The complexation reactions were demonstrated and characterized using graphical logarithmic analysis of the absorbance pH-graphs. After considering all the different parameters a simple, rapid, sensitive and selective method for spectrophotometric determination of trace levels of iron(III) was proposed based on the formation of (Fe -MHP) complex at pH 2.5 (λmax = 640 nm, ? = l×104 L mol?1 cm?). The interference of a large number of foreign ions was investigated. The method has been applied successfully for the determination of iron content in some multivitamins with mineral preparations and infant milk products.  相似文献

A very simple spectrophotometric method for simultaneous determination of aluminum(III) and iron(III) based on formation of their complexes with pyrocatechol violet (PCV) in micellar media, using the H‐point standard addition method (HPSAM), is described. In micellar media, the metal complexes of Al‐PCV and Fe‐PCV are formed very fast. Formation of both of the complexes was complete within 5 min at pH 8.5. The linear ranges for aluminum and iron were 0.05‐2.50 and 0.10‐4.00 μg mL?1, respectively. The relative standard deviation (R.S.D.) for the simultaneous determination 0.40 μg mL?1 of Al(III) and 0.20 μg mL?1 of Fe(III) were 3.24% and 4.22%, respectively. Interference effects of common anions and cations were studied. The method was applied to simultaneous determination of Al(III) and Fe(III) in standard reference material and alloy samples.  相似文献

Abstract

A new reagent, mandelohydroxamic acid (MHA), which has an easy synthesis and an high water solubility (64.48 gL?1) is proposed for a simple, rapid, selective and sensitive method for the spectrophotometric determination of iron based upon the formation of the MHA-Fe(III) complex and its extraction into n-butanol under optimum operating conditions. A yellow color is formed when the complex is extracted from acidic aqueous medium (Vw/Vo[dbnd]5) in the organic solvent (apparent molar absortivity 1.15 104 L mol?1 cm?1 at a wavenlength of 430 nm). the relative error is 0.5% (2 ppm of iron) and the detection limit is 0.05 g mL?1 of Fe(III). the method has been applied to the determination of iron in wines, vegetables, pharmaceutical compounds and minerals.  相似文献

Abstract

A new spectrophotoraetric method has been developed for the analysis of pheniramine maleate and chlorphenlramine maleste, based on their reaction with iron (III). Pheniramine maleate and ch lor pheniramine maleate were found to form a 2:1 complex with iron (III) with an average log. stability constant of 12.26 and 12.36, respectively. The iron (III) complexes of both drugs showed maximum absorption at 273 nm, at pH 5, with slopes equal to 0.710 and 0.898 for pheniramine maleate complex and chlorpheniramine maleate complex, respectively. The proposed method was used for the determination of pheniramine maleate and chlorpheniramine maleate in quantities ranging between 0.25 × 10?4 M to 2.5 × 10?4 M with mean percentage recoveries of 100.17 ± 1.09% and 100.00 ± 1.13% for both drugs, respectively. The results obtained were compared with that of the B.P. (1980) method.  相似文献

Abstract

A flow-injection configuration for the spectrophotometric determination of oxalate, citrate and tartrate is proposed. The procedure is based on the photochemical decomposition of the complexes formed between iron(III) and these anions. The iron(II) produced in the photochemical reactions was detected by measuring the absorbance after complexation with ferrozine (λmax=562 nm). Linear calibration graphs were obtained over the concentration ranges 5.0 × 10?6 - 1.0 × 10?4 M, 8 × 10?6 - 1.8 × 10?4 M and 1.0 × 10?6 - 2 × 10?5 M for oxalate, citrate and tartrate, respectively. The relative standard deviations at the 1x10?5 M concentration level were within the range 1.29 - 1.47 %. The sampling frequency was about 40 samples h?1. The usefulness of the method was tested in the determination of oxalate in urine and spinach, of citrate in pharmaceuticals and soft drinks and of tartrate in pharmaceuticals. For the determination of oxalate in urine samples a prior separation of the analyte by precipitation with calcium chloride is recommended.  相似文献

Abstract

A new spectrophotometric determination of cobalt with 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde guanylhydrazone in acid medium is described. The method is developed on the basis of a yellow cobalt (III) complex (molar absorptivity 1.32×10?4 L.mol?1.cm?1 at 416 nm, stoichiometry 2:1). N-Phenylcinnarnohydroxamic acid (PCHA) reacts with iron(III) and vanadium(V) in the presence of thiocyanate to form water-insoluble orange and green complexes, respectively. The iron(III)-PCHA and vanadium(V)-PCHA-thiocyanate complexes can be quantitatively extracted into toluene and other common organic solvents at pH 1.5–2.0. The absorption spectra and composition of both complexes are described. The effects of foreign ions and of experimental variables on the extraction and determination of the two metal ions are studied. A simple, selective method is described for the simultaneous determination of iron(III) and vanadium(V) by extraction-spectrophotometry; absorbances are measured at 440 and 580 nm. Mixtures can be determined over the range 10?4–10?5 M in each metal. The method was applied successfully to the analysis of standard steels for iron and vanadium.  相似文献

Abstract

The operating conditions for the spectrophotometric determination of bismuth(III) with 1-(4′-bromophenyl)-4,4,6-trimethyl-(1H,4H)-pyrimidine-2-thiol (4′bromo PTPT) as a ligand by a liquid-liquid extraction technique are presented. In acidic conditions bismuth(III) forms a yellow complex with the ligand which can be extracted in chloroform with an absorption maxima at 410 nm. The molar absorptivity is 1.5×104 l mole?1 cm?1 and Sandell's sensitivity is 14.3 ng cm?2. The difference in the absorbance between the chloroform blank and bismuth(III) sample increases linearly in the concentration range 2-14 ppm at 0.3 M hydrochloric acid. The proposed method is extremely sensitive, rapid, reproducible and has been satisfactorily applied to the determination of trace amounts of bismuth(III) in synthetic mixtures, alloys and pharmaceutical formulations and also provides binary separation of bismuth(III) from selenium, tellurium, lead, antimony, copper and gold. The overall process of extraction and determination takes about 15 to 20 min.  相似文献

A novel, sensitive and selective adsorptive stripping procedure for simultaneous determination of iron, copper and cadmium is presented. The method is based on the adsorptive accumulation of thymolphthalexone (TPN) complexes of these elements onto a hanging mercury drop electrode, followed by reduction of adsorbed species by voltammetric scan using differential pulse modulation. The influences of control variables on the sensitivity of the proposed method for the simultaneous determination of iron, copper and cadmium were studied using the Derringer desirability function. The optimum analytical conditions were found to be TPN concentration of 2.0 μM, pH of 9.5, and accumulation potential at ?0.4 V vs. Ag/AgCl with an accumulation time of 60 s. The peak currents are proportional to the concentration of iron, copper and cadmium over the 1–80, 0.5–100 and 1–100 ng mL?1 ranges with detection limits of 0.5, 0.4 and 0.9 ng mL?1, respectively. The R.S.D. at a concentration level of 20 ng mL?1 of iron, copper and cadmium were 2.5%, 0.9% and 1.5% (n=6), respectively. The procedure was applied to the simultaneous determination of iron, copper and cadmium in the tap water and some synthetic samples with satisfactory results.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Four azo compounds based on diazotization of 2-aminobenzothiazole have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis as well as different spectroscopic techniques. The potentiality of the prepared compounds as new chromogenic reagents for the spectrophotometric determination of Mo6+ was studied by extensive investigation of optimum conditions favouring the formation of the coloured complexes. Beers law is obeyed in the concentration range 0.2-8.5 μg ml?1 whereas Ringbom optimum concentration range was 0.8-7.5 μg ml?1. The detection limit was 0.05 μg ml?1. The molar absorptivity and Sandell sensitivity of the formed complexes are calculated. The effect of interfering ions on the determination of Mo6+ was investigated. The relative standard deviations for six replicate determinations of 5.0 μg ml?1 of Mo6+ are 1.23, 1.47, 1.05 and 1.38 % using reagents I, II, III and IV, respectively. The proposed method has been applied to investigate the amount of Mo6+ in human urine samples. The molybdenum levels found between 0.5-2.1 μg/100 ml.  相似文献

Abstract

A comparison has been made on the selectivity, accuracy and precision of spectrophotometric, conductometric and potentiometric methods for the determination of ascorbic acid in water which is based on the reduction of gold(III) ion by ascorbic acid. Gold(III) ion forms a complex with gelatin in alkaline medium which on reduction with ascorbic acid produces coloured gold sol. The sol shows an absorption maximum at 540 nm with molar absorptivity of 2.3×10?3litre mol?1 cm?1 and the Sandell's sensitivity of 7.6 × 10?2 μgcm?2. The relative standard deviation is 0.22% and the confidence limit (20 determinations, 95%) is 2.0 ± 0.009%. To examine the extent of sensitivity of the spectrophotometric method the proposed method is compared with the sensitivities of the conductometric and potentiometric methods.  相似文献

Abstract

The reaction between titanium(IV) and 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid in aqueous media results in an intensely colored complex which is stable for at least 8h. It allows the spectrophotometric determination of titanium in silicate rocks. The proposed method, in pH 4.0–6.0, shows a molar absorptivity of 1.43.104 L.mole?1.cm?1 at 380 nm. Beer's Law is obeyed up to 3.0 μg/mL of titanium(IV). The interference of iron(III) can be eliminated by reduction to iron(II) with hydroxylamine hydrochloride. The method was applied to the determination of titanium in various standard rocks and the results indicated that the accuracy and precision are satisfatory.  相似文献

Iron (III) forms brown coloured complex with 3-hydroxy-2-methyl-1,4-naphthoquinone monoxime. The iron (III)-HMNQM complex is found to be soluble in DMF and exhibits maximum absorption at 470 nm in the pH range 4.5–5.5. Beer's law is obeyed upto 5.58 ppm of iron (III) and sensitivity of the reaction is 0.0046 μg/cm2, with molar absorptivity of 1.21×104 ? mole?1 cm?1. Abstract

A simple and selective spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of trace amounts of arsenic using azure B as a chromogenic reagent. The proposed method is based on the reaction of arsenic(III) with potassium iodate in acid medium to liberate iodine. The liberated iodine bleaches the violet color of azure B and is measured at 644 nm. This decrease in absorbance is directly proportional to the As(III) concentration, and Beer's law is obeyed in the range 0.2–10 µg ml?1 of As(III). The molar absorptivity, Sandell's sensitivity, detection limit, and quantitation limit of the method were found to be 1.12×104 l mol?1cm?1, 6.71×10?3 µg cm?2, 0.02 µg ml?1 and 0.08 µg ml?1, respectively. The optimum reaction conditions and other analytical parameters were evaluated. The proposed method has been successfully applied for the determination of arsenic in various environmental and biological samples.  相似文献

The possibility of application was examined of a reaction between 2,2′-diquinoxalyl and tin(II) or titanium(III) to catalytic determination of copper and iron. The reaction parameters, the influence of the hydrogen peroxide concentration, the hydrochloric acid concentration, and the presence of strange ions on oxidation of the reduced form of 2,2′-diquinoxalyl were tested.The usefulness of the established method was proven for the determination of copper(II) and iron(III) ions in the spectrally pure salts, having the concentration range of those ions 10?4-10?5%. A new and highly sensitive inhibitory kinetic fluorescence method for the determination of arsenic (III) has been established based on its inhibitory effect on the oxidation reaction of Acridine red (ADR) by KBrO3 in sulphuric acid medium. The reaction has been followed by measuring the enhancement of fluorescence at 550?nm. It relies on the linear relationship where the change in the fluorescence (ΔF) versus added As(III) amounts in the range of 0–0.450?µg?mL?1 is plotted, under the optimum conditions. The sensitivity of the proposed method, i.e. the limit of detection, is 2.1?×?10?2?ng?mL?1. The method is featured with good accuracy and reproducibility for arsenic (III) determination. This method was successfully applied for the quantitative determination of arsenic (III) in food products samples, and the relative standard deviations and the recoveries were in ranges of 2.31–2.83% and 90.0–107.2%, respectively. A review of recently published catalytic or inhibiting kinetic methods for the determination of arsenic (III) has also been presented for comparison. The mechanism of reaction was studied.  相似文献

Indium(III) reacts with α-diketone bisphenylthiosemicarbazones derived from glyoxal, biacetyl and methylglyoxal to form 1:1 and 1:2 (In: reagent) complexes in acid and basic medium, respectively. The effect of experimental variables was studied in detail on the acid site, and a new method for the spectrophotometric determination of indium(III) with meth-ylglyoxal bis(4-phenyl-3-thiosemicarbazone) (MGBPT) is proposed. The yellow 1:1 In-MGBPT complex is formed at pH 3.5–6 in a solution containing a 60 % V/V of dimethylforrnamide. Abstract

On the basis of theoretical considerations, a new catalytic reaction for the determination of nanomoler iron(III) concentrations has boon propesod, nomoly the oxidation of sulfanilic acid by potassium periodate using 1,10-phenanthroline as an activator. The optimum conditions for Fe(III) determination have been established as a result of kinetic studies.

The reaction ensures a low detection limit (2×10?8 M), low coefficient of variation about 5% and high selectivity.  相似文献
