Spectral-luminescence properties of a hybrid compound containing a coumarin-type spiropyran and an azomethinocoumarin fragment in toluene-acetonitrile solution in the presence of Li+, Ca2+, Zn2+ and Mg2+ ions are reported. Two excited state proton transfers can occur in the hybrid compound—the transfer of a proton from the OH group of the 7-hydroxy coumarin tautomer to the N atom of the C=N bond of the azomethine fragment leading to green ESIPT fluorescence with a maximum at 540 nm and from the OH group of the 7-hydroxy coumarin tautomer to the carbonyl group of the pyrone chromophore, which leads to the formation of the 2-hydroxyl-tautomer T of coumarin with blue fluorescence with a maximum at 475 nm. Dependence of these excited state proton transfers on the metal nature and irradiation with an external UV source is discussed. 相似文献

The excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) processes in 3‐methylsalicyclic acid (3‐MeSA) and 3‐methoxysalicyclic acid (3‐MeOSA) have been investigated in cyclohexane medium by emission spectroscopic techniques. The ESIPT process was characterized in 3‐MeSA from the large Stokes fluorescent band (455 nm), but it was suppressed by 3‐MeOSA in cyclohexane. The ESIPT process was found to be accelerated both in 3‐MeSA and 3‐MeOSA in the presence of a hydrogen bond accepting agent, triethylamine (TEA). Further, theoretical calculations were carried out at the ground and excited states to complement the experimental evidences. 相似文献

The influence of H‐bond geometry on the dynamics of excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) and photoinduced tautomerization in a series of phenol‐quinoline compounds is investigated. Control over the proton donor–acceptor distance (dDA) and dihedral angle between the proton donor–acceptor subunits is achieved by introducing methylene backbone straps of increasing lengths to link the phenol and quinoline. We demonstrate that a long dDA correlates with a higher barrier for ESIPT, while a large dihedral angle opens highly efficient deactivation channels after ESIPT, preventing the formation of the fully relaxed tautomer photoproduct. 相似文献

A four fused‐ring system 11‐propyl‐6H‐indolo[2,3‐b]quinoline ( 6 HIQ ) is strategically designed and synthesized; it possesses a central moiety of 7‐azaindole ( 7AI ) and undergoes excited‐state double proton transfer (ESDPT). Despite a barrierless type of ESDPT in the 6 HIQ dimer, femtosecond dynamics and a kinetic isotope effect provide indications for a stepwise ESDPT process in the 6 HIQ/7AI heterodimer, in which 6 HIQ (deuterated 6 HIQ ) delivers the pyrrolyl proton (deuteron) to 7AI (deuterated 7AI ) in less than 150 fs, forming an intermediate with a charge‐transfer‐like ion pair, followed by the transfer of a pyrrolyl proton (deuteron) from cation‐like 7AI (deuterated 7AI ) to the pyridinyl nitrogen of the anion‐like 6 HIQ (deuterated 6 HIQ ) in ~1.5±0.3 ps (3.5±0.3 ps). The barrier of second proton transfer is estimated to be 2.86 kcal mol?1 for the 6 HIQ/7AI heterodimer. 相似文献

This paper presented comprehensive theoretical investigation of excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) of four new large Schiff base derivatives with extended conjugated chromophores. The properties of the ground state and the excited state of phototautomers of C1 to C4 [ C1 : 2‐(4′‐nitro‐stilbene‐4‐ylimino)methylphenol; C2 : 2‐(4′‐cyano‐stilbene‐4‐ylimino)methylphenol; C3 : 2‐(4′‐methoxyl‐stilbene‐4‐ylimino)methylphenol; C4 : 2‐(4′‐N,N‐diethylamino‐stilbene‐4‐ylimino)methylphenol], which included geometrical parameter, energy, rate constant, frontier orbit, Mulliken charge, dipole moment change, were studied by DFT (density functional theory), CIS (configuration interaction singles‐excitation), TDDFT (time‐dependent DFT) methods to analyze the effects of chromophore part on the occurrence of ESIPT and the role of substituent groups. The structural parameter calculation showed that the shorter RH? N and larger RO? H from enol to enol* form, and less twisted configuration in the excited state implied that these molecules could undergo ESIPT as excitation. Stable transition states and a low energy barrier were observed for C1 to C4 . This suggested that chromophore part increased some difficulty to undergo ESIPT for these molecules, while the possibility of occurrence of ESIPT was quite high. The negative ΔE* (?9.808 and ?9.163 kJ/mol) of C1 and C2 and positive ΔE* (0.599 and 1.029 kJ/mol) of C3 and C4 indicated that withdrawing substituent groups were favorable for the occurrence of ESIPT. The reaction rate constants of proton transfer of these compounds were calculated in the S0 and S1 states respectively, and the high rate constants of these compounds were observed at S1 state. C1 even reached at 1.45×1015 s?1 in the excited state, which is much closed to 2.05×1015 s?1 of the parent moiety (salicylidene methylamine). Electron‐donating and electron‐withdrawing substituent groups had different effects on the electron density distribution of frontier orbits and Mulliken charges of the atoms, resulting in different dipole moment changes in enol*→keto* process. These differences in turn suggested that C1 and C2 had more ability to undergo ESIPT than C3 and C4 . The ultraviolet/visible absorption spectra, normal fluorescence emission spectra and ESIPT fluorescence emission spectra of these compounds were predicted in theory. 相似文献

The photoinduced dynamics of isolated n-hydroxyquinoline (nHQ) molecules (n=6,8) was investigated in femtosecond pump-probe experiments. A qualitative difference was found between 8HQ and 6HQ. After an initial rapid decay corresponding to the departure of the initial wavepacket out of the Franck-Condon region of the excitation, the 8HQ probe signal decays to zero in 0.37 ps whereas a much longer time constant of 10.4 ps is observed in 6HQ. This interrogates on the role played by the intramolecular H-bond N HO which is at play the 8HQ molecule. Ab-initio were performed at the MCSCF/aug-cc-pVDZ level on the 8HQ molecule to help the discussion. A complex energy landscape was found, which includes a conical intersection. 相似文献

The excited state intra-molecular proton transfer dynamics of 1-hydroxyanthraquinone in solution are investigated by femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy and quantum chemistry calculations. Two characteristic bands of excited state absorption and stimu-lated emission are observed in transient absorption spectra with the excitation by the pump wavelength of 400 nm. From the delayed stimulated emission signal, the time scale of the intra-molecular proton transfer is determined to be about 32 fs. The quantum chemistry calculations show that the molecular orbits and the order of the S2 and S1 states are rever-sal and a conical intersection is demonstrated to exist along the proton transfer coordinate. After proton transfer, the second excited state of tautomer populated via the conical intersection undergoes the internal conversion with ~200 fs and the following intermolecular energy relaxation with ~16 ps. The longer component 300 ps can be explained in terms of the relaxation from excited-state tautomer to its ground state. From our observations, two proton transfer pathways via a conical intersection are proposed and the dominated one preserves the molecular orbits. 相似文献

Compared with green fluorescence protein (GFP) chromophores, the recently synthesized blue fluorescence protein (BFP) chromophore variant presents intriguing photochemical properties, for example, dual fluorescence emission, enhanced fluorescence quantum yield, and ultra‐slow excited‐state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT; J. Phys. Chem. Lett., 2014 , 5, 92); however, its photochemical mechanism is still elusive. Herein we have employed the CASSCF and CASPT2 methods to study the mechanistic photochemistry of a truncated BFP chromophore variant in the S0 and S1 states. Based on the optimized minima, conical intersections, and minimum‐energy paths (ESIPT, photoisomerization, and deactivation), we have found that the system has two competitive S1 relaxation pathways from the Franck–Condon point of the BFP chromophore variant. One is the ESIPT path to generate an S1 tautomer that exhibits a large Stokes shift in experiments. The generated S1 tautomer can further evolve toward the nearby S1/S0 conical intersection and then jumps down to the S0 state. The other is the photoisomerization path along the rotation of the central double bond. Along this path, the S1 system runs into an S1/S0 conical intersection region and eventually hops to the S0 state. The two energetically allowed S1 excited‐state deactivation pathways are responsible for the in‐part loss of fluorescence quantum yield. The considerable S1 ESIPT barrier and the sizable barriers that separate the S1 tautomers from the S1/S0 conical intersections make these two tautomers establish a kinetic equilibrium in the S1 state, which thus results in dual fluorescence emission. 相似文献

从电子结构控制理论出发,通过在酚羟基对位引入吸电子取代基团稳定水杨醛中激发态的酮式构象,制备了目标化合物5-对氰基苯基-水杨醛(CN-SA).光谱测试结果显示,CN-SA表现出典型的ESIPT态荧光分子特性,而且辐射跃迁过程的酮式分配比例显著提高,荧光强度和颜色变化明显.CN-SA的荧光光谱不但能够对外围溶剂环境进行选择性识别,而且对溶解和聚集过程(聚集效应)及外围氢键形成能力的变化(pH效应和阴离子效应)等具有特异性响应,其变化可以定量表达.CN-SA仅通过结构微调即实现醇-酮构象的显著变化,可作为一个简单的多重刺激响应型荧光探针. 相似文献

A simple, highly selective and sensitive colorimetric system for the detection of fluoride ion in an aqueous medium has been developed using 2‐(2‐hydroxyphenyl)‐2,3‐dihydroquinolin‐4(1 H)‐one. This system allows selective “turn‐on” fluorescence detection of fluoride ion, which is found to be dependent upon guest basicity. An excited‐state proton transfer is proposed to be the signaling mechanism, which is rationalized by DFT and TD‐DFT calculations. The present sensor can also be applied to detect fluoride levels in real water samples. 相似文献

Although the organic dyes based on excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) mechanism have attracted significant attention, the structure‐property relationship of ESIPT dyes needs to be further exploited. In this paper, three series of ethynyl‐extended regioisomers of 2‐(2′‐hydroxyphenyl)benzothiazole (HBT), at the 3′‐, 4′‐ and 6‐positions, respectively, have been synthesized. Changes in the absorption and emission spectra were correlated with the position and electronic nature of the substituent groups. Although 4′‐ and 6‐substituted HBT derivatives exhibited absorption bands at longer wavelengths, the keto‐emission of 3′‐substituted HBT derivatives was found at a substantially longer wavelength. The gradual red‐shifted fluorescence emission was found for 3′‐substituted HBT derivatives where the electron‐donating nature of substituent group increased, which was opposite to what was observed for 4′‐ and 6‐substituted HBT derivatives. The results derived from the theoretical calculations were in conformity with the experimental observations. Our study could potentially provide experimental and theoretical basis for designing novel ESIPT dyes that possess unique fluorescent properties. 相似文献

The singlet excited states of adenine oligomers, model systems widely used for the understanding of the interaction of ultraviolet radiation with DNA, are investigated by fluorescence spectroscopy and time‐dependent (TD) DFT calculations. Fluorescence decays, fluorescence anisotropy decays, and time‐resolved fluorescence spectra are recorded from the femtosecond to the nanosecond timescales for single strand (dA)20 in aqueous solution. These experimental observations and, in particular, the comparison of the fluorescence behavior upon UVC and UVA excitation allow the identification of various types of electronic transitions with different energy and polarization. Calculations performed for up to five stacked 9‐methyladenines, taking into account the solvent, show that different excited states are responsible for the absorption in the UVC and UVA spectral domains. Independently of the number of bases, bright excitons may evolve toward two types of excited dimers having π–π* or charge‐transfer character, each one distinguished by its own geometry and spectroscopic signature. According to the picture arising from the joint experimental and theoretical investigation, UVC‐induced fluorescence contains contribution from 1) exciton states with a different degree of localization, decaying within a few ps, 2) “neutral” excited dimers decaying on the sub‐nanosecond timescale, being the dominant species, and 3) charge‐transfer states decaying on the nanosecond timescale. The majority of the photons emitted upon UVA excitation are related to charge‐transfer states. 相似文献
