Four multihapten antigens were conjugated to a single protein to obtain broad-specific polyclonal antibody characterization. The sensitivity and specificity of the polyclonal antibodies for parathion were evaluated with differences due to the structure of the determinant or the number of multihapten antigens. The sensitivity of immunoassay may decrease with a corresponding increase in the number of antigens in a multihapten immunogen or with an increase in complexity of the structure. The specificity of other analytes may broaden when the determinants of multihapten have similar structures.  相似文献

Cool molecules: The cooling of molecules to sub‐Kelvin temperatures promises to have a great impact in chemistry and physics. Recently, the first experimental realizations of samples of deeply bound molecules that are approaching the ultracold regime were reported. This paper describes the logic for a program developed by the author to implement the polynomial approximation method (PAM) of sensitivity analysis for general kinetic purposes. The relevant equations and numerical details of the algorithm are outlined, a flow chart is provided, and some programming considerations are discussed in detail. A listing of the PAM code is given in the appendix. The paper also gives a few suggestions for possible improvements and extensions of the present algorithm.  相似文献

This article explores the Wittenberg Professor Daniel Sennert's (1572–1637) pursuit of nearly universal medicines made from noble metals, which he described in his published works and in private correspondence with his brother-in-law, Michael Döring. Of the medicaments that Sennert sought, one called the Philosophical Hen was especially interesting, and involved feeding a hen silver or gold during propitious astrological conjunctions. Sennert's support of this experiment was rooted in his obsession with experience and can be partially explained by looking to an extensive tradition of natural philosophy and natural history. Sennert explained such nearlyuniversal medicines according to the rational principles of academic medicine, arguing that they strengthened the body's innate heat or acted as universal purgatives. From Sennert's candid epistles, we receive a more historicised portrait of the collaborative experimental process by which chymical medicines were conceptualised and tested, and how the consequences of experimental failure and perceived credulity could be increased scepticism.  相似文献

Propolis, a natural product made by bees with resins and balsams, is known for its complex chemical composition and remarkable bioactivities. In this study, propolis extraction was studied seeking extracts with strong bioactivities using less orthodox solvents, with some derived from apiary products. For that, a propolis sample collected from Gerês apiary in 2018 (G18) was extracted by maceration with six different solvents: absolute ethanol, ethanol/water (7:3), honey brandy, mead, propylene glycol and water. The solvent influence on the chemical composition and antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of the extracts was investigated. Antioxidant potential was assessed by the DPPH free-radical-scavenging assay and the antimicrobial activity by the agar dilution method. Chemical composition of the extracts was determined in vitro by three colorimetric assays: total ortho-diphenols, phenolics and flavonoids contents and the LC-MS technique. To our knowledge, this is the first time that solvents such as honey brandy and mead have been studied. Honey brandy showed considerable potential to extract propolis active compounds able to inhibit the growth of bacteria such as the methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus and Propionibacterium acnes (MIC values of 100 and 200 µg/mL, respectively) and the fungi Candida albicans and Saccharomyces cerevisiae (MIC = 500 µg/mL, for both). Mead extracts displayed high antioxidant capacity (EC50 = 1.63 ± 0.27 µg/mL) and great activity against resistant bacteria such as the methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli (MIC = 750 µg/mL, for both). The production of such solvents made from beehive products further promotes a diversification of apiary products and the exploration of new applications using eco-friendly solutions.  相似文献

The reactions between titanium alkoxides Ti(OR)4 (R = Et,i Pr) and strontium -diketonates Sr(-dik)2 (-dik = thd, acac) were investigated. The various Sr-Ti species, Sr2Ti2(-dik)4 (OR)8, have a 1:1 Sr:Ti stoichiometry and were characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR and by single-crystal X-ray diffraction for Sr2Ti2(3-OiPr)2 (-OiPr)4 (OiPr)2(thd)4 (1). The hydrolysis-polycondensation reactions of the various species were investigated and the resulting powders analyzed by light scattering and XRD. While acetone was found to have little influence on the hydrolysis reactions of the Sr-Ti species, polycondensation of Ti(OiPr)4 in neat acetone offers a trinuclear enolate Ti(3-O)2(OCMe=CH2)3 (OiPr)5(iPrOH) (4). Comparisons between the Ba-Ti and Sr-Ti systems are given.  相似文献

Preeclampsia is a heterogeneous and multiorgan cardiovascular disorder of pregnancy. Here, we report the development of a novel strip-based lateral flow assay (LFA) using lanthanide-doped upconversion nanoparticles conjugated to antibodies targeting two different biomarkers for detection of preeclampsia. We first measured circulating plasma FKBPL and CD44 protein concentrations from individuals with early-onset preeclampsia (EOPE), using ELISA. We confirmed that the CD44/FKBPL ratio is reduced in EOPE with a good diagnostic potential. Using our rapid LFA prototypes, we achieved an improved lower limit of detection: 10 pg ml−1 for FKBPL and 15 pg ml−1 for CD44, which is more than one order lower than the standard ELISA method. Using clinical samples, a cut-off value of 1.24 for CD44/FKBPL ratio provided positive predictive value of 100 % and the negative predictive value of 91 %. Our LFA shows promise as a rapid and highly sensitive point-of-care test for preeclampsia.  相似文献

A method is presented for the continuous analysis of generated vapors of the nerve agents soman and sarin and the blistering agent sulfur mustard. By using a gas sampling valve and a very short (15 cm) column connected to an on-column injector with a “standard length” column, the system can either be calibrated or used for performing high speed gas analyses. When using a flame ionization detector, the detection limit was ca. 100 ppb (ca. 0.5–1.0 mg/m3). This technique is applied in inhalation toxicokinetic studies of nerve agents and mustard gas in the guinea pig.  相似文献

The recent achievements and progress in the field of high-nuclearity supraicosahedral metallaborane chemistry are reviewed and compared to those made in borane, carborane and metallacarborane chemistry. In contrast to metallacarboranes, characterized large supraicosahedral metallaboranes only adopt isocloso deltahedral structural arrangements with n vertices and a non-Wadean n skeletal-electron-pair count. This anomaly can be rationalized by the preference of metal atoms for 6-connect vertices present in the cluster cages.  相似文献

A visible‐light driven photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor based on aptamer immobilized TiO2‐Fe2O3 nanotubes was proposed for the first time and highly sensitive and selective bisphenol A determination was realized. Taking advantage of the alloy oxide nanotube structure, high surface area, good biocompatibility, superior photoelectrocatalytic performance, a limit of detection toward BPA as low as 1.8×10?11 M with linearity in the range from 1.8×10?11 to 3.2×10?9 M could be achieved. Specificity was greatly exhibited for this aptasensor under 100‐fold excess concentration of estriol, resorcinol, nonylphenol, 2,4‐D, acetamiprid, chlorpyrifos and omethoate. Simultaneously, satisfactory results were obtained in real water sample investigation from industrial plastics and drinking water. A novel visible‐light driven PEC method for highly sensitive and selective detection of BPA was thus established.  相似文献

Redox ions are deposited on a polyelectrolyte‐coated gold electrode by an electric field to fabricate an ion‐selective thin film electrode. The Fe(CN)${{{4- \hfill \atop 6\hfill}}}$ ions are deposited on a few monolayer‐coated polyelectrolyte gold electrode by a slow periodic potential cycle. The deposition process and electrode properties are quantitatively and simultaneously monitored by cyclic voltammetry and a novel technique, using a Scanning Electrometer for Electrical Double‐layers (SEED). No redox properties are obtained without the electric‐field‐deposition. Owing to the redox mediation and net charge due to the redox ion, the electrode is ion‐selective. We demonstrate the principle to detect 1 µM of dopamine in a mixture with 1 mM of ascorbic acid.  相似文献

A new family of annulated inositols (inosito-inositols) has been conceptualized. Naphthalene has been elaborated into novel cyclohexa-annulated neo- and chiro-inositols, with two additional hydroxyl functionalities, through a series of stereoselective oxyfunctionalization protocols. The trans-ring fusion present in these new annulated inositols ensures conformational locking.  相似文献
