This review outlines optical fiber-based biosensor research from January 2001 through September 2003 and was written to complement the previous review in this journal by Marazuela and Moreno-Bondi. Optical fiber-based biosensors combine the use of a biological recognition element with an optical fiber or optical fiber bundle. They are classified by the nature of the biological recognition element used for sensing: enzyme, antibody/antigen (immunoassay), nucleic acid, whole cell, and biomimetic, and may be used for a variety of analytes ranging from metals and chemicals to physiological materials.  相似文献

Summary: Polyaniline nanofibers (from 93 to 220 nm) doped with β‐naphtalenesulfonic acid (PANI‐NSA) have been characterized. Nonhomogeneity in the thickness of fibers, as can be seen with scanning electron microscopy, is the reason for their instability under the HCl doping process. Resonance Raman spectral profiles of PANI‐NSA fibers suggest a lower protonation state than the emeraldine salt forms. Observation of Raman bands, which are a result of cross‐linking, confirms that one of the properties of the polymeric structure formed in micellar polymerization is the type of connection between chains.

One of the modern high technologies which has advanced enormously in the last few years is glass fiber technology. This is used in the manufacture of glass fibers for lighting purposes and for the optical transfer of analog and digital data with a high transfer density. The technical demands made on the glass fibers required for data transfer, the optical waveguides, are extremely high and are already fulfilled to a large extent by industry. At present about four million kilometers of fiber, worth ca. 800 million DM are produced worldwide (10% in the Federal Republic of Germany). Numerous chemical processes take place during the manufacture of optical waveguides. However, in contrast both to the high and constantly growing demands on the quality and to the increasing production volume of such fibers, little is in fact known about the reactions involved. The present article will attempt to develop a picture of the multifarious reactions occurring in the course of this technical process on the basis of literature data and our own studies.  相似文献

Some examples demonstrate the feasibility of interpreting the results of polycondensation from stoichiometry. Utilizing only the consequences of stoichiometric principles, it is possible to draw conclusions of the basic principles of forming polymers in the polycondensation process and to substantiate the physical meaning of a number of averaged values used during calculations. The results confirm the relationships found earlier by means of other methods and make it possible to draw significant conclusions with respect to the character of the process and the peculiarities of the products obtained.  相似文献

In this paper, the influence of carbon particles size on structure and on electrochemical and physical properties of the Sonogel-Carbon electrodes, with respect to Sonogel materials without graphite, have been studied. The materials have been characterized electrochemical and structurally; several Sonogel-Carbon materials were synthesized using different types of graphite powder as massive modifiers, adding in some cases other modifiers, such as octadecyl (C18) and polyethyleneglycol (PEG). Differential pulse voltammetry and cyclic voltammetry were the voltammetric techniques employed to evaluate the electrochemical behaviour; Scanning Electron Microscopy, Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy and Infrared Spectroscopy were the techniques employed to realize the superficial/structural characterization of the materials. The results obtained in both studies were very useful to explain the structure of the Sonogel-Carbon materials. Furthermore, they allowed to conclude that electrodes based on RW-B and UF graphites show very similar electrochemical behaviours and internal structures.  相似文献

目前化学气相沉积(CVD)方法在不同的金属基底上大规模生长获得石墨烯得到了广泛的应用; 同时扫描隧道显微镜(STM)做为一种强大的精细直观的研究手段可以用于表征金属衬底上石墨烯的微观形貌, 指导石墨烯的控制生长. 本文侧重于Cu箔、Pt 箔和Ni 衬底上石墨烯的控制生长、表面微观形貌、表面缺陷态、堆垛形式的阐述, 得到结论: (1) 两种溶碳量较低的金属(Cu, Pt)上, 石墨烯的生长都符合表面催化的生长机制, 同时层间的范德华相互作用也可以诱导双层石墨烯的生长; (2) 衬底粗糙度的增加可以使石墨烯的电子态去简并化, 从而破坏石墨烯面内π键共轭结构, 导致部分碳原子转变为sp3杂化; (3) 原生的褶皱是由于界面热膨胀系数失配所导致; (4) Pt 箔表面石墨烯的平整度要远优于Cu箔表面的石墨烯, 且不同晶面共存的基底对于石墨烯的连续性并没有产生显著的影响.  相似文献

The mechanical properties of Mater-Bi® are, in general, not adequate for certain applications and the addition of a filler is therefore necessary. Among the different fillers, natural fibres are particularly interesting because they potentially allow improving the performance of the material without compromising its biodegradability.In order to improve the basic mechanical properties of a Mater-Bi grade and to obtain a new, fully biodegradable material, wood flour based composites were prepared by different processing methods. To simulate actual and not laboratory bacterial attack on the prepared materials, in this work we studied the biodegradation of the composites in a real active sewage sludge reactor. In particular, the biodegradation rates were investigated with reference to different pre-treatments of the materials and different environmental conditions (summer and winter). The results showed that wood flour enhances the biodegradability of the materials. The results indicated also strong relationships between the surface roughness and the biodegradation rates (in particular, higher roughness leads to wider bacterial attack). The different processing techniques had direct effects on the overall biodegradation rates. In particular, when higher smoothness and packing is achieved, the biodegradation rate is lower. The mechanical analysis indicated that adding wood flour to Mater-Bi has positive effects on the elastic modulus, but when the bacterial attack becomes critical, a general sudden drop of the mechanical properties is observed.  相似文献

Bismuth tungsten oxide and vanadium pentoxide (Bi2WO6/V2O5) heterostructures are produced by a green synthesis approach using Azadirachta indica extract for photocatalytic performance. The hydrothermal method at temperatures between 120 °C and 140 °C is used to synthesize Bi2WO6. Bi2WO6 and V2O5 phases are formed in pure orthorhombic wells according to the XRD pattern. The SEM displays V2O5 nanorods, Bi2WO6 hierarchical microspheres that resemble flowers at 120 °C, and particles with a particle-like character at 140 °C. In V2O5, the asymmetric stretching vibrations of the triplely coordinated oxygen (chain oxygen) bonds and the vibration of the doubly coordinated oxygen (bridge oxygen) bonds are responsible for a peak at 611 cm?1. In FTIR spectra between 600 and 1600 cm?1, the major absorption bands in Bi2WO6 are attributed to the W-O stretching, Bi-O stretching, and W-O-W bridging stretching modes. Bi2WO6@V2O5 at 120 °C has the lowest bandgap energy (2.32 eV) and optical electronegativity (0.62), as well as the highest refractive index (2.57), extinction coefficient (2.21), and dielectric constant (εr = 0.72 and εi = 11.4) among all samples, making it a suitable material for photocatalysis. Rhodamine blue (RhB) dye degradation is used to measure the photocatalytic activity (PCA) of certain materials. The results showed that heterostructure V2O5@Bi2WO6 synthesized at 120 °C is more attractive among all samples due to high degradation of RhB dye under sunlight irradiation in 90 min.  相似文献

Visible light guiding optical fibers with underwater operational capability are highly desired for subaquatic communication and sensing technologies. Herein, we present mechanically flexible, blue-violet fluorescent (4,4′-bis(2,6-di(1H-pyrazol-1-yl)pyridin-4-yl)biphenyl) (BPP) crystal waveguides with high-aspect ratio. These milli-meter-long BPP crystals guide light actively and passively in ambient and underwater conditions demonstrating their amphibian-like character. Due to the crystal's high flexibility, the optical fiber's output light direction in submerged and ambient states can be altered mechanically for high-precision lighting and sensing applications. The development of such multi-environment-compatible and mechanically flexible organic optical fibers acting as sensing materials possess enormous potential for short-range underwater photonic technologies.  相似文献

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) has established itself as an important analytical technique. However, efforts to transfer the technology from the laboratory to the production line, clinic or field have been frustrated by the lack of robust affordable substrates and the complexity of interfacing between sample and spectrometer. Prompted by the success of optical fibre systems for implementing normal Raman scattering spectroscopy in remote locations and biomedical applications, attention has now shifted to the development of SERS-active optical fibres. Other workers have attempted to develop SERS probes with extended interaction lengths and both far-field and near-field SERS imaging techniques for high-resolution chemical mapping of surfaces. This review discusses the development of these technologies and presents the current state of the art. Although recent developments show great promise, some outstanding challenges and opportunities remain to be addressed.  相似文献

This work shows the first analytical results obtained by X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) (conventional and 3D) and Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive System (SEM-EDS) on original Portuguese ceramic pieces produced between the 16th and 18th centuries in Coimbra and Lisbon. Experts distinguished these productions based only on the color, texture and brightness, which originates mislabeling in some cases.Thanks to lateral and spatial resolution in the micrometer regime, the results obtained with μ-XRF were essential in determining the glaze and pigment thicknesses by monitoring the profile of the most abundant element in each “layer”. Furthermore, the dissemination of these elements throughout the glaze is different depending on the glaze composition, firing temperature and on the pigment itself. Hence, the crucial point of this investigation was to analyze and understand the interfaces color/glaze and glaze/ceramic support.Together with the XRF results, images captured by SEM and the corresponding semi-quantitative EDS data revealed different manufacturing processes used by the two production centers. Different capture modes were suitable to distinguish different crystals from the minerals that confer the color of the pigments used and to enhance the fact that some of them are very well spread through the glassy matrix, sustaining the theory of an evolved and careful procedure in the manufacturing process of the glaze.  相似文献

研制了一套基于光杠杆原理的微悬臂梁阵列传感器平台,并通过使用设计制作的微悬臂梁阵列芯片展示其在生物化学方面的检测应用.传感器平台使用光导纤维束分别与激光器耦合作为悬臂梁阵列的扫描光源,具有良好的检测稳定性,检测信号噪声水平约为2 nm;设计制作的微悬臂梁阵列芯片具有良好的平直度,温度响应均匀一致,各梁温度改变响应灵敏度偏差不超过5.0%.将整套传感系统被用于检测水溶液中的Hg2+,检测浓度范围为1 ~ 200 ng/mL;同一浓度下微悬臂梁阵列检测结果曲线一致性良好,平均偏差小于15%.在研制仪器平台上,分别实现了自制和国外商品化芯片对1.0和0.2 ng/mL样品的检测,结果表明,制作的微悬臂梁阵列芯片的检测灵敏度相对较低,需进一步改进悬臂梁阵列制作工艺.  相似文献

The experimental results on the study of thermal conductivity and effect of humidity on HMDZ modified TEOS based aerogels dried at ambient pressure, are reported. Silica sol was prepared by keeping the MeOH/TEOS molar ratio, Acidic water (Oxalic acid) and basic water (NH4OH) concentrations constant at 16.5, 0.001 and 1 M, respectively throughout the experiments and the HMDZ/TEOS molar ratio (h) was varied from 0.34 to 2.1. Finally, the surface modified wet gels were dried at an ambient pressure. The thermal conductivity of the aerogel samples was measured. Further, the humidity study was carried out in 80% humid surrounding at 30 °C temperature over 80 days. The best quality aerogels in terms of low bulk density, thermal conductivity and durability (no moisture absorption) with an only 2% of weight gain were obtained for TEOS: MeOH: Acidic H2O: Basic H2O: HMDZ molar ratio at 1:16.5:0.81:0.50:0.681, respectively. The thermal stability and hydrophobicity of the aerogel have been confirmed with Thermo gravimetric and Differential Thermal (TG–DT) analyses and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), respectively. The properties of silica aerogels are highly dependent on the post-treatment steps like gel washing, gel aging and gel drying. The experimental results of the studies on one of the post-treatment steps i.e. gel aging effect on the physical and microstructural properties of methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) based silica aerogels, are reported. These hybrid aerogels were prepared by two step sol–gel process followed by supercritical drying. The molar ratio of MeOH/MTMS (M) was varied from 7 to 35 by keeping the H2O/MTMS (W) molar ratio constant at 4. The as prepared alcogels of different molar ratios were aged from 0 to 5 days. It was observed that 2 days of gel aging period is the optimum gel aging period for good quality aerogels in terms of low density, less volume shrinkage and high porosity. The well tailored network matrix with low density (0.04 g/cm3), less volume shrinkage (4.5%), low thermal conductivity (0.05 W/mK) and high porosity (98.84 %) was obtained for 2 days of gel aging period of M = 35. Further, the gelation time varied from 8 to 1 h depending on the M values. The gelation time was being more for lesser M values. The aerogels were characterized by bulk density, porosity, volume shrinkage, thermal conductivity, Scanning Electron Microscopy and the Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy.  相似文献
