Abstract

A simple, sensitive and alternative method for the spectrophotometric determination of iron(III) has been established. The procedure is based on the formation of iron-azide complexes in 60% (v/v) tetrahydrofuran/ water medium. The high sensitivity obtained in this method is due to the use of an interesting absorption band not previously reported in the literature. In the recommended conditions, absorbances for the ferric complexes are measured at 400 nm where the molar absorptivity is 1.52 × 104 1 mol?1 cm?1. The organic solvent used increases the sensitivity and the stability of the measurements. The precision is shown by the average deviation of about 0.3%. This system obeys Beer's law and is suitable for iron(III) determination in the concentration range from 0.6 to 3.2 mg 1?1 (ppm). The best experimental conditions were determined studying the different factors involved. The influence of various diverse ions was also studied.  相似文献

The determination of copper (II) and iron (III) added to an anaerobic adhesive formulation was investigated by differential pulse voltammetry after application of a solution of the adhesive in acetone to a glassy carbon electrode. The best supporting electrolyte was 0.1 M sodium dodecyl sulphate, which ensured adequate surface contact with the adhesive coating. Under optimum conditions, copper (II) (as CuEDTA 2?) could be determined at levels down to 0.1 mg l?1 and iron (III) (in some complexed form) down to 2.0 mg l?1. The method is also capable of detecting the presence of poly (ethylene glycol) dimethacrylate, cumene hydroperoxide and N,N-dimethyl-p-toluidine in a typical formulation.  相似文献

Iron(III) can minimize the serious interferences from copper(II) and nickel(Il) on the determination of tellurium by hydride generation/atomic absorption spectrometry. The optimal concentrations were found to be 1 g l?1 and 2 g l?1 Fe (III) in 4.0 mol l?1 HCl in presence of nickel (II) and copper (II), respectively. The signals were only 25 % lower in a solution of 1.6 g 1?1 Ni(II) than for a nickel-free solution. For copper (II), reasonable sensitivity was retained in the presence of 100 mg l?1 Cu(II).  相似文献

Flow-injection amperometry with two polarized platinum electrodes is used for the determination of residual chlorine based on the oxidation of iodide. Interferences of iron(III), copper(II), nitrite and atmospheric oxygen are eliminated in the proposed procedure. The detection limit for residual chlorine is 2 μg l?1 at a sampling rate of 120 h?1; linear calibration graphs are obtained up to 0.8 mg 1?1. A method for the simultaneous flow-injection determination of residual chlorine and copper(II) is also proposed.  相似文献

The direct spectrophotometric determination of iron(III) and iron(II) by flow injection analysis with acetohydroxamic acid and 1,10-phenanthroline as reagents is reported. The working ranges are 0.5–10 and 10–60 mg l?1, respectively. Results obtained for synthetic mixtures of Fe(III) and Fe(II) and for acid extracts of haematite samples were accurate. Abstract

The application of a zero-crossing method to the simultaneous determination of copper (II) and mercury (II) with methylethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (MEDTA) is described. The procedure does not require equations to be solved, and it is suitable for concentrations of 0.008–0.036 mg ml?1 of copper and 0.025–0.300 mg ml?1 of mercury. The main interferences, both anionic and cationic, were easily eliminated. The method was applied to different aqueous matrices. It was compared with an atomic absorption spectrophotometry method (AA) and good results were obtained.  相似文献

Iron(III0 has a very effective releasing effect on the depressive interference from copper(II) on the determination of selenium by hydride-generation atomic absorption spectrometry. In solutionwith 100 mg 1?1 Cu(II), 10 μg 1?1 Se(IV) and 2.0 mol l?1 HCl, the absorbance obtained was much higher when 8 g 1?1 Fe(III) was added than for any earlier releasing agent.  相似文献

Abstract

This paper recommends a simple and convenient procedure for the determination of copper(II) in the presence of large amounts of manganese. An aqueous solution of hydroxylamine hydrochloride and diluted sulphuric acid was used for dissolution and reduction of MnO2. The copper(II) was complexed with an ethanolic 0.05% PAN solution in the pH range of 2 - 3 in aqueous medium. The absorbances of copper-PAN complexes are measured at 550 nm where molar absorptivity is 2.10 L.mol?1.cm?1.

The complex obeys Beer's Law from 0.1 to 4 ppm. of copper. Manganese(II) up to 1000 ppm. doesn't interfere. The method is sensitive and reproducible.

It has been applied to the analysis of samples containing 0.01 to 5% of copper on manganese dioxide catalysts.  相似文献

Abstract

An indirect photometric method with a continuous-flow analysis is presented for the determination of trace amounts of vanadium(IV). It is based on the redox reaction of copper(II) with vanadium(1V) in the presence of neocuproine. In the presence of neocuproine, copper(I1) is reduced easily by vanadium(I V) to a copper(1)-neocuproine complex, which shows a n absorption maximum at 454 nm. By measuring t h e absorbance of the complex at this wavelength, vanadium(1V) in t h e range 2×10?6 - 8 × mol dm?5 mol dm?3 can be determined at a rate of 120 samples h?1. Abstract

The complex formation reaction between iron(III) and 4-(2-pyridylazo) resorcinol(PAR) in the presence of various water soluble surfactants((N-hexadecylpyridinium chloride (HPC), poly(vinylalcohol)(PVA), sodium dodecylsulfate(SDS), sodium N-lauroylsarcosine(SL)) alone or in combination at weakly acidic media was systematically investigated. An improved and more sensitive spectrophotometric method for the determination of iron was proposed by zero-order and third-derivative spectrophotometry using the PAR-iron(III)-HPC ternary complex system at about pH 5.2. The calibration curve was rectilinear in the ranges of 0 – 15.0 μg iron(III) in a final 10-ml on the zero-order spectrophotometry. Also, upon the third-derivative spectrophotometry, Beer's law was obeyed in the range of 0 – 8.0 μg iron(III)/10 ml by measuring the distance between the absorbance peak(λ1 = 527 nm) and the valley (λ2 = 560 nm). The apparent molar absorptivity was 4.8 × 104 1 mol?1 cm?1 in zero-order spectrophotometry, and 1.36 × 105 mol?1 cm?1 in third-derivative spectrophotometry. The effect of foreign ions was decreased within ½ – ¼-fold in comparison with the method in the presence of PVA without HPC. Especially, the third-derivative spectrophotometric method was sensitive and selective, and made possible to assay mixed sample solution containing iron(III) and copper(II), etc.  相似文献

A flow injection system is proposed for catalytic kinetic spectrophotometric determination of trace iron(II + III). The involved reaction is based on the catalytic effect of iron(III) on oxidation reaction of xylenol orange by potassium bromate to form a blue-violet complex. Iron(II) is also determined, being oxidized to iron(III) by potassium bromate. The calibration graph is linear in the range of 0.02–10.0 µg l?1 and 10.0–1100 µg l?1. The relative standard deviation is 1.5% for 4.0 µg l?1 iron(III) and 2.3% for 60.0µg l?1 iron(III) (n = 11). The presented system was applied successfully to the determination of iron in natural waters.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The complex equilibria of iron(III) with 2-hydroxy-3-pyridinol (HHP), and 2-mercapto-3-pyridinol (MHP) were studied spectrophotometrically in 40% (v/v) ethanol and an ionic strength of 0.1M (NaCIO4). The complexation reactions were demonstrated and characterized using graphical logarithmic analysis of the absorbance pH-graphs. After considering all the different parameters a simple, rapid, sensitive and selective method for spectrophotometric determination of trace levels of iron(III) was proposed based on the formation of (Fe -MHP) complex at pH 2.5 (λmax = 640 nm, ? = l×104 L mol?1 cm?). The interference of a large number of foreign ions was investigated. The method has been applied successfully for the determination of iron content in some multivitamins with mineral preparations and infant milk products.  相似文献

Abstract

The reaction between lead(II) and 2-(2-Thiazolylazo)-p-Cresol(TAC) in the presence of TERGITOL NPX (4 mg/ml) at an apparent pH 9.0–10.0 results in an intensely colored complex which is stable for at least 4 hr.

The composition of the complex is 1:2 cation: TAC and the log of the formation constant is 11.92 ± 0. 40. Beer's law is obeyed up to 6.0μg.ml?1 of lead(II) at 650nm.

The apparent molar absorptivity at 650 nm is 2.07 × 104 1. mole?1.cm?1 and the detection limit was obtained as 10.0 ng.ml?1 of lead(II).

The possibility of application was examined of a reaction between 2,2′-diquinoxalyl and tin(II) or titanium(III) to catalytic determination of copper and iron. The reaction parameters, the influence of the hydrogen peroxide concentration, the hydrochloric acid concentration, and the presence of strange ions on oxidation of the reduced form of 2,2′-diquinoxalyl were tested.The usefulness of the established method was proven for the determination of copper(II) and iron(III) ions in the spectrally pure salts, having the concentration range of those ions 10?4-10?5%. The sensitivity of the discussed method is of 0.04 μg/ml.  相似文献

The interaction of technetium with 1,3,5-triphenyl-Δ2-pyrazoline (TPP) is examined and kinetic methods for the determination of technetium (0.01–1.2 mg l?1) are developed; absorbances are measured at 678 nm. The optimal hydrochloric acid concentration for the reaction is 8.3 M, with a TPP concentration of 6.6 × 10?5 M in 15 % (v/v) ethanol. Interferences by Cu(II), V(V) and Fe(III) are discussed. The method is applied to two synthetic nuclear fuels and to vegetation spiked with technetium.  相似文献

Lead(IV) oxide electrodes are shown to give near-theoretical calibration slopes for lead(II) ions over the range 10?3–10?5 mol l?1, and to have near-theoretical standard potentials in different acidic media. They are compared with lead sulphide-silver sulphide membrane electrodes and shown to be more tolerant of acidity and copper(II), mercury(II) and iron(III) ions. Iron(II) and manganese(II), however, interfere significantly. Some of the advantages of the lead(IV) oxide electrode are brought out in the determination of the solubility product of lead sulphate; implications for constructing phosphate- and sulphate-sensitive electrodes are mentioned.  相似文献

The reaction between titanium(IV) and 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid in aqueous media results in an intensely colored complex which is stable for at least 8h. It allows the spectrophotometric determination of titanium in silicate rocks. The proposed method, in pH 4.0–6.0, shows a molar absorptivity of 1.43.104 L.mole?1.cm?1 at 380 nm. Beer's Law is obeyed up to 3.0 μg/mL of titanium(IV). The interference of iron(III) can be eliminated by reduction to iron(II) with hydroxylamine hydrochloride. The method was applied to the determination of titanium in various standard rocks and the results indicated that the accuracy and precision are satisfatory.  相似文献

A simple, rapid and accurate method for the spectrophotometric determination of chloride in non-polar media is described. The method is based on the well-known reaction of mercury(II) thiocyanate with chloride to release thiocyanate, which then reacts with iron(III). The optimum concentrations of reagents for the determination of chloride in 2,2,4-trimethylpentane (iso-octane) and cyclohexane are reported. The molar absorptivity of the complex at 505 nm is 5120 ± 200 dm3 mol?1 cm?1 for iso-octane and 5340 ± 340 dm3 mol?1 cm?1 for cyclohexane. Beer's Law is obeyed in the range 2 × 10?7–2 × 10?5 mol dm?3 (0.01–1 mg l?1) chloride.  相似文献

A spectrophotometric study of the Pd(II) complex of a reagent 2-(5-Bromo-2-Pyridylazo)-5-(diethylamino)-Phenol (5-Br-PADAP) is presented. A violet complex is formed at pH 3.53, and shows maximal absorbance at 585 nm with molar absorptivity of 3.86 × 104 1. mol?1 cm?1. Beer's law is obeyed up to 50 μ of Pd(II). The method offers the advantages of simplicity, high precision, requires no extraction and is very selective, where 5.0 mg Pt(VI) and 0.3 mg Au(III) ions do not interfere.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Six kinds of water-soluble porphyrin were examined as a sensitizer (fluorophore) in the bis(2,4,6-trichlorophenyl)oxalate(TCPO)-hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) chemiluminescence(CL) system. Among them, coproporphyrin III showed the highest CL intensity. Moreover, the TCPO-H2O2-coproporphyrin III CL system was separately examined in each micelle solution using a non-ionic surfactant such as Briji 35 and Triton X-100, and an ionic surfactant such as cetyltrimethylammonium chloride(CTAC) and sodium dodecylsulfate. As a result, the CL intensity along with the coexistence of the CTAC micelle increased approximately 36 times compared to that in the absence of surfactant. Based on these findings, the quenching CL determination of copper(II) was established using the complex formation of coproporphyrin III and copper(II) ion. The calibration graph for the concentration of copper(II) was linear in the range of 2×10?8M to 1×10?6M, and the detection limit(3σ) was 1.26×10?8M. Moreover, the relative standard deviation was 2.9%(10 determinations). The proposed method was applied to the determination of copper(II) ion in waste water and satisfactory results were obtained.  相似文献
