The effects in separated standing-wave fields that are resonant to adjacent Doppler-broadened transitions of many-level atoms are studied. It is shown that due to coherent transfer, at large distances, of polarization on a forbidden transition between the initial and final metastable levels of atoms in a gas, light emission arises at combination frequencies. It is also shown that a resonance with the width reciprocal to the time of flight between separated fields is available in the Raman scattering and absorption line shapes.  相似文献

A nanostructural object consisting of two atoms is proven to contain two or four dimensional resonances depending on whether these atoms are identical or different. Each of the atoms is characterized by linear isotropic polarizability and contains one isolated resonance. The frequency of the dimensional resonances considerably differs from the resonance frequencies of the isolated atoms, and the effective resonance polarizabilities of the atoms in the nanostructure approximately coincide with the resonance values of polarizabilities of the isolated atoms. It is shown that, in the nanostructure consisting of two different atoms, two of four resonances have a negative dispersion. It is also shown that the nanostructural object has an induced anisotropy in the case of a fixed position of the object axis relative to the direction of incidence of the external wave.  相似文献

Square-shaped two-dimensional optical microcavities (micro-cavities) were investigated for possible applications as filters for dense wavelength-division multiplexing. Multimode cavity resonances were observed in the elastic scattering of approximately 200-microm square-shaped micro-cavities in fused silica. Based on a two-dimensional k-space representation, we accounted for the multimode spectrum by different normal modes with rays confined by total internal reflection. The cavity-mode trajectories need not be closed after each round trip. Single-mode spectra are expected from smaller square-shaped micro-cavities.  相似文献

流场求解采用3维雷诺平均N-S方程,分别利用ROE格式和二阶中心格式对对流通量和粘性通量进行离散处理;用高斯-赛德尔隐式格式对方程进行时间推进求解,采用k-ε两方程模型用于湍流的数值模拟。采用几何光学结合物理光学方法分析平均流动和湍流对光场的影响。计算结果表明:由于窗口外形曲面的曲率不同,两种窗口外部流场存在较大区别,气流速度、密度的分布情况各不相同。曲率较大的窗口外形对气流的压缩程度较大,导致气流绕过窗口顶端中心区域时流速快,密度梯度大,因而窗口空气阻力较大,光束在该窗口流场中传输受气流影响的影响也较大。  相似文献

We propose a mechanism for experimental investigation of relativistic effects in the laser-atom interaction with moderate (nonrelativistic) laser intensities that involves placing the system in a static magnetic field parallel to the laser's magnetic-field component. The resonantly induced relativistic motion of the atomic electron leads to a variety of novel phenomena: a relativistic dephasing leading to a ringlike spatial probability density, a counterintuitive window of relativistically enhanced motion, and a sequence of sawtooth-shaped resonances that may increase the harmonic generation.  相似文献

An application of the coupled-channels optical method is given for the energy-dependent phenomena of positron-hydrogen resonances below the n=2 excitation threshold.The equivalent local optical potential is used to account for the target polarization and positronium formation.The calculation includes 9 explicitly physical coupled channels.The lowest S-wave resonance energy position and new resonances are found.Angular dependence of the cross section in the resonance region are investigated.  相似文献

We have solved a boundary-value problem for a ball probe interacting with a flat dielectric surface in an external optical radiation field. This interaction gives rise to the optical size resonance at frequencies significantly different from the natural frequencies of two-level atoms both in the medium and in the probe with allowance for the local field corrections. These resonances depend significantly on the distance from the probe center to the surface, on the ball probe size, on the concentration of two-level atoms in the probe and in the medium, on the spectral line width, and on the atomic inversion. The field strengths inside and outside the ball probe and a semiinfinite dielectric medium have been calculated in the near-field and wave zones. It is shown that the proposed electrodynamic theory of optical near-field microscopy agrees with the results of experimental measurements.  相似文献

A concept was suggested for an optical near-field microscope based on optical dimensional resonances in the system of a needle tip atom + a sample atom. High sensitivity and spatial resolution of an order of 1 nm were shown to be characteristic of this microscope. Furthermore, the instrument is applicable to a wide range of studied samples.  相似文献

Grating resonances in air-silica microstructured optical fibers   总被引:13,自引:0,他引:13  
We report what is believed to be the first demonstration of optical fiber gratings written in photonic crystal fibers. The fiber consists of a germanium-doped photosensitive core surrounded by a hexagonal periodic air-hole lattice in a silica matrix. The spectra of these gratings allow for a detailed characterization of the fiber. In particular, the gratings facilitate coupling to higher-order leaky modes. We show that the spatial distribution and the effective index of these modes are determined largely by the design of the lattice and that the grating spectra are unaffected by the refractive index surrounding the fiber. We describe these measurements and corresponding simulations and discuss their implications for the understanding of such air-hole structures.  相似文献

In this Letter we present results of theoretical and experimental studies of whispering-gallery modes in optical microdisk resonators interacting with subwavelength dielectric particles. We predict theoretically and confirm by direct observations that, contrary to the generally accepted models, both peaks of the particle-induced doublet of resonances are redshifted with respect to the position of the initial resonance.  相似文献

We tune optical resonances in rolled-up SiO/SiO(2) microtube cavities by gradually modifying the tube structure through asymmetrical postdeposition of SiO(2). Spectral blueshifts followed by redshifts of the resonant modes are observed in a thin-walled microtube (tube-I), which is attributed to a competition between shape deformation and effective increase of tube wall thickness. In contrast, only a monotonic redshift is detected when asymmetrical deposition is performed on a thick-walled microtube (tube-II). Distinct wavelength-dependent tuning was revealed in both kinds of tubes. Numerical calculations based on perturbation theory are carried out to explain and confirm the experimental results.  相似文献

The dielectric function of yttrium in the range between 0.2 μm and 2 μm is composed of a harmonic oscillator contribution due to a discrete interband transition and the contribution of free electrons. Hence, it is possible to discuss surface plasmon polaritons as well as other electronic resonances in the optical extinction spectra of yttrium nanoparticles. For the latter, we discuss the broadening of the resonance caused by the aggregation of particles. When particles are lumped into aggregates, the color of the particle system also changes. Aggregation also affects the surface plasmon resonance in yttrium nanoparticles in a way comparable to silver or gold nanoparticle aggregates. Comparison is made with the first experimental results on yttriumnanoparticles, showing that aggregation is the dominant effect for the broad resonance in the measured extinction spectra. The effect of the field polarization on the amplitude of recoil-induced resonances (RIRs) is considered for laser-cooled free atoms and for atoms in a working magneto-optical trap (MOT). For all closed dipole transitions, explicit analytical expressions are obtained for the polarization dependence of the resonance amplitudes within a perturbation theory. Optimal polarization conditions are found for the observation of resonances.  相似文献

Cyclotron resonance was studied in reflection in InSb at room temperature using pulsed magnetic fields of up to 1.4 MG and laser-obtained wavelengths of 10.6 and 5.56 μ. At 10.6μ, four resonances were found while one resonance was found at 5.56 μ.  相似文献
