This paper deals with exact solutions for some oscillating motions of a generalized Oldroyd-B fluid. The fractional calculus approach is used in the constitutive relationship of fluid model. Analytical expressions for the velocity field and the corresponding shear stress for flows due to oscillations of an infinite flat plate as well as those induced by an oscillating pressure gradient are determined using Fourier sine and Laplace transforms. The obtained solutions are presented under integral and series forms in terms of the Mittag–Leffler functions. For α = β = 1, our solutions tend to the similar solutions for ordinary Oldroyd-B fluid. A comparison between generalized and ordinary Oldroyd-B fluids is shown by means of graphical illustrations.  相似文献

Zusammenfassung Die Strömung einer zähen, inkompressiblen und elektrisch leitenden Flüssigkeit über einen rotationssymmetrischen Körper wird studiert mit Hilfe einer singulären Methode der Störungsrechnung. Eine asymptotische, im ganzen Strömungsfeld gültige Lösung wird gegeben für grosse Hartmann-ZahlenM.Die Resultate ergeben folgendes Strömungsbild: Zwei Totwasser-Bereiche von der LängeO (M) und der BreiteO (1) werden vor und nach dem Körper geformt. Sie sind begrenzt durch eine zylindrische Schubschicht, die vom grössten Durchmesser des Körpers aus parabolisch stromaufwärts und stromabwärts anwächst. In einer Entfernung der GrössenordnungO (M) geht diese Schubschicht in eine Wirbelstrasse über, die sich parabolisch ins Unendliche erstreckt. Die Einzelheiten des Strömungsbildes werden analytisch aufgezeigt. Die Wirbelstrasse wird mit derjenigen der klassischen Navier-Stokes-Theorie verglichen.  相似文献

We consider a convective flow in a porous medium of an incompressible viscous conducting fluid impinging on a permeable stretching surface with suction, and internal heat generation/absorption. Using a similarity transformation the governing equations of the problem are reduced to a coupled third-order nonlinear ordinary differential equations. We first examine a number of special cases for which we may obtain exact solutions. We then obtain analytical solutions (by the Homotopy Analysis Method) and numerical solutions (by a boundary value problem solver), in order to further study the behavior of the nonlinear differential equations, for various values of the physical parameters. Our numerical solutions are shown to agree with the available results in the literature. We then employ the numerical results to bring out the effects of the suction parameter, heat source/sink parameter, stretching parameter, porosity parameter, the Prandtl number and the free convection parameter on the flow and heat transfer characteristics. In the absence of suction and free convection, our findings are in agreement with the corresponding numerical results of Attia [H.A. Attia, On the effectiveness of porosity on stagnation point flow towards a stretching surface with heat generation, Comput. Mater. Sci. 38 (2007) 741-745].  相似文献

In this article the incompressible limits of weak solutions to the governing equations for magnetohydrodynamics flows on both bounded and unbounded domains are established. The governing equations for magnetohydrodynamic flows are expressed by the full Navier-Stokes system for compressible fluids enhanced by forces due to the presence of the magnetic field as well as the gravity and with an additional equation which describes the evolution of the magnetic field. The scaled analogues of the governing equations for magnetohydrodynamic flows involve the Mach number, Froude number and Alfven number. In the case of bounded domains the establishment of the singular limit relies on a detail analysis of the eigenvalues of the acoustic operator, whereas the case of unbounded domains is being treated by their suitable approximation by a family of bounded domains and the derivation of uniform bounds.  相似文献

We derive an exact solution of a problem which models the stationary flow of an incompressible viscoelastic fluid in an orthogonal rheometer subject to Navier slip boundary conditions, and investigate the effect of the slip coefficient and the material parameters on the solution. The fluid model is a frame-invariant three-dimensional generalization by J. Murali Krishnan and K.R. Rajagopal of a one-dimensional model due to J.M. Burgers.  相似文献

This work is aimed at describing the heat transfer on the peristaltic motion in a porous space. An incompressible and magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) viscous fluid is taken in an asymmetrical channel. Expressions of dimensionless stream function and temperature are obtained analytically by employing long wavelength and low Reynolds number assumptions. The influence of various parameters of interest is seen through graphs on pumping and trapping phenomena and temperature profile.  相似文献

We consider the following problem in the MHD approximation: the vessel Ω1Ω is filled with an incompressible, electrically conducting fluid, and is surrounded by a dielectric or by vacuum, occupying the bounded domain Ω2=Ω?Ω1. In Ω we have a magnetic and electric field and the external surface S=Ω is an ideal conductor. The emphasis in the paper is on when Ω is not simply connected, in which case the MHD system is degenerate. We use Hodge-type decomposition theorems to obtain strong solutions locally in time or global for small enough initial data, and a linearization principle for the stability of a stationary solution.  相似文献

The problem of magnetic field in conducting turbulent, incompressible fluid is considered. The velocity of the fluid is taken to be independent of the magnetic field and is described by a Gaussian field, ‘white noise’ in time with smooth space correlation. The main result is that no fast dynamo (by which is meant almost sure exponential growth of magnetic field) can exist for an incompressible fluid when the magnetic viscosity is positive. For d = 2, sharper results are obtained; the magnetic field dies out when the magnetic viscosity is strictly positive. Furthermore, when d = 2, existence and characterization of invariant measure are given for d = 2 when the magnetic viscosity is zero. The results are compared to those discussed by Baxendale and Rosovskii in [2]  相似文献

In the paper, the solvability of the free boundary problem of magnetohydrodynamics for a viscous incompressible fluid in a simply connected domain is proved. An initial–boundary value problem is considered for the viscous compressible thermally radiative magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flows coupled to self-gravitation describing the dynamics of gaseous stars in a bounded domain of R3R3. The conservative boundary conditions are prescribed. Compared to Ducomet–Feireisl [13] (also see, for instance, Feireisl [18], Feireisl–Novotný [20]), a rather more general constitutive relationship is given in this paper. The analysis allows for the initial density with vacuum. Every transport coefficient admits a certain temperature scaling. The global existence of a variational (weak) solution with any finite energy and finite entropy data is established through a three-level approximation and methods of weak convergence.  相似文献

The problem of the converse Lagrange theorem /1, 2/ in magnetohydrodynami.es is investigated. The linear problem of the stability of the quiescent state of a viscous incompressible fluid with an infinite conductivity containing a magnetic field is considered. It is shown by the direct Lyapunov method that the system is unstable if the second variation of the potential energy takes negative values. “A priori· lower and upper estimates of the increase in the perturbations are obtained. The lower estimate ensures an exponential increase in the displacements of the fluid particles and the lines of force of the magnetic field from the equilibrium state. The upper estimate shows that the solutions do not increase more rapidly than exponentially. In both cases, the exponents are calculated using the equilibrium state parameters and the initial data for the perturbation fields.

This paper extends the well-known results in /3, 4/ to • magneto-hydrodynamics.  相似文献
