Based on the Green's function formalism, we investigated spin transport properties in one-dimensional three-terminal rings in the presence of the Rashba spin-orbit coupling (RSOC) and Dresselhaus spin-orbit coupling (DSOC). The conductance as a function of the Fermi energy shows typical resonance and antiresonance (conductance zero) characteristics in the absence of spin-orbit coupling (SOC). When one type of SOC (RSOC or DSOC) is introduced, the original conductance zeros are lifted, but new conductance zeros emerge. It is found that all the conductance zeros depend sensitively on the disorder, and the fluctuate weakens and smoothens the oscillations of the conductance. In the presence of both types of SOCs, the interplay between the RSOC and the DSOC opens a gap in the energy spectrum and breaks the cylindrical symmetry of the ring. Consequently, symmetrically coupled three-terminal rings show anisotropic conductances, which are robust against weak disorders.  相似文献

We report a theoretic study on the inverse spin-Hall effect (ISHE) in a two-terminal nano-device that consists of a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) with Rashba spin-orbit coupling (RSOC) and two ideal leads. Based on a two-site toy model and Keldysh Green's function method, we derive an analytic result of ISHE, which shows clearly that a nonzero transverse charge current stems from the combined effect of the RSOC, the spin bias, and its spin polarization direction in spin space. Our further numerical calculations in a larger system other than two-site lattice model demonstrate that the transverse charge current, dependent on the strength of the RSOC, the Fermi energy of the system, as well as the system size, can exhibit oscillating behavior and even reverse its sign due to Rashba spin precession. These properties may be helpful for eficient detection of the spin current (spin bias) by measuring the transverse charge current in a spin-orbital coupling system.  相似文献

In this study, we investigate theoretically the effect of spin-orbit coupling on the energy level spectrum and spin texturing of a quantum wire with a parabolic confining potential subjected to the perpendicular magnetic field. Highly accurate numerical calculations have been carried out using a finite element method. Our results reveal that the interplay between the spin-orbit interaction and the effective magnetic field significantly modifies the band structure, producing additional subband extrema and energy gaps. Competing effects between external field and spin-orbit interactions introduce comp|ex features in spin texturing owing to the couplings in energy subbands. We obtain that spatia~ modulation of the spin density along the wire width can be considerably modified by the spin-orbit coupling strength, magnetic field and charge carrier concentration.  相似文献

A spin device with three normal metal leads via triple quantum dot in the presence of Rashba spin-orbit interaction is proposed, which is free from magnetic field or magnetic material. Using nonequilibrium Green's function technique, we investigate the spin current through the three-quantum-dot device. It is found that the spin current can be affected by the strength of the Rashba spin-orbit interaction, Coulomb interaction, the energy of the quantum dot and the bias voltage of the lead. The periodic oscillation of spin current can be controlled by tuning the Rashba spin-orbit interaction.  相似文献

We investigate theoretically the spin current in a quantum wire with weak Dresselhaus spin-orbit coupling connected to two normal conductors. Both the quantum wire and conductors are described by a hard-wall confining potential. Using the electron wave-functions in the quantum wire and a new definition of spin current, we have calculated the elements of linear spin current density j^Ts,xi and j^Ts,yi(i=x, y, z). We find that the elements j^Ts,xx and j^Ts,yy have a antisymmetrical relation and the element j^Ts,yz has the same amount levelas j^Ts,xx and j^Ts,yy. We also find a net linear spin current density, which has peaks at the center of quantum wire. The net linear spin current can induce a linear electric field, which may imply a way of spin current detection.  相似文献

In this work, we investigate the effects of interplay of spin–orbit interaction and in-plane magnetic fields on the electronic structure and spin texturing of parabolically confined quantum wire. Numerical results reveal that the competing effects between Rashba and Dresselhaus spin–orbit interactions and the external magnetic field lead to a complicated energy spectrum. We find that the spin texturing owing to the coupling between subbands can be modified by the strength of spin–orbit couplings as well as the magnitude and the orientation angle of the external magnetic field.  相似文献

We theoretically investigate the Rashba and Dresselhaus spin-orbit interaction in AlAs/GaAs/Al0.3Ga0.7As/AlAs step-quantum wells. The ratio of Rashba and Dresselhaus spin splitting can be effectively manipulated by the well width and step width in the absence of electric field and magnetic field. When the well width of the step-quantum well is wider than 10 nm, the total spin splitting, which contains the contribution of interface as well as linear and cubic Dresselhaus terms, is always the greatest when the width of GaAs layer equals to about 2 nm. When the well width is wider than 2 nm, two different step widths can meet the SU(2) symmetry conditions, the smaller one of them results in maximum spin relaxation time. We also predict the application of the step-quantum well in spintronic devices.  相似文献

We investigate a tight-binding model of the ruby lattice with Rashba spin-orbit coupling. We calculate the band structure of the lattice and evaluate the Z2 topological indices. According to the Z2 topological indices and the band structure, we present the phase diagrams of the lattice with different filling fractions. We find that topological insulators occur in some range of parameters at 1/6, 1/3, 1/2, 2/3 and 5/6 filling fractions. We analyze and discuss the characteristics of these topological insulators and their edge states.  相似文献

By using the Al'tshuler-Aronov-Spivak (AAS) model, we give the amplitude changing with Rashba spin-orbit interaction (SOI) and Dresselhaus SOI strength. In the first idea 1D square loop (SL), Rashba SOI acts on two sides while Dresselhaus SOI acts on the other two sides. In the second SL, we consume Rashba SOI and Dresselhaus SOI act on four sides simultaneously. This model can be replaced by another one that Rashba SOI and Dresselhaus SOI act on every side independently, and each side is twice long. We theoretically illustrate the influence of the Dresselhaus SOI on node position and number. To explain the “half oscillation” phenomenon found in experiment, we apply Dresselhaus SOI to the ideal 1D SL. The conclusion is that the Dresselhaus SOI has a strong effect on the emergence of “half oscillation”.  相似文献

We propose a spin filter based on both the quantum interference and the Rashba spin-orbit (RSO) effects. This spin filter consists of a Aharonov-Bohm (AB) interferometer with two quantum dots (QDs) inserted in its arms. The influences of a magnetic flux φ threading through the AB ring and the RSO interaction inside the two QDs are taken into account by using the nonequilibrium Green's function technique. Due to the existence of the RSO interaction, the electrons flowing through different arms of the ring will acquire a spin-dependent phase factor in the linewidth matrix elements. This phase factor, combined with the influence of the magnetic flux, will induce a spin-dependent electron transport through the device. Moreover, we show that by tuning the magnetic flux, the RSO strength and the inter-dot tunnelling coupling strength, a pure spin-up or spin-down conductance can be obtained when a spin-unpolarized current is injected from the external leads, which can be used to filter the electron spin.  相似文献

We investigate theoretically the spin accumulation in a Rashba spin-orbit coupling (SOC) nanoribbon nonadiabatically connected to a normal conductor. Both the nanoribbon and conductor are described by a hard-wall confining potential. Using thescattering matrix approach within the effective free-electron approximation, we have calculated the out-of-plane spin accumulation in the nanoribbon. It is found that the spin accumulation shifts toward the two edges of nanoribbon with the increasing of propagation modes. Specifically, as the Rashba SOC strength increases the spin accumulation in the nanoribbon will be enhanced and this result may suggest us a simple method to control the spin accumulation of the system by Rashba SOC strength.  相似文献

The current-induced spin accumulation is calculated for a 1D lateral semiconductor superlattice with spin–orbit interaction of the Rashba and Dresselhaus type. Due to its particular symmetry, the Rashba interaction alone only leads to an in-plane component of the magnetization transverse to the applied electric field. When in addition a Dresselhaus contribution is present, this symmetry is lifted, and all components of the magnetization are induced by the electric field. Based on the density-matrix approach, the induced spin polarization is determined as a function of external in-plane electric and magnetic fields.  相似文献

The present paper, based on semi-classical Boltzmann equation, aims to investigate the effects of Rashba and Dresselhaus spin orbit interaction and impurities on domain wall anisotropic magneto resistance. It has been shown that the mentioned effects play a remarkable role in anisotropic magneto resistance of electron current in domain walls. It was also concluded that while an increase in Rashba coupling strength can effectively enhance anisotropic magneto resistance of the domain wall, an increase in the wave-vector and exchange interaction leads to their decrease.  相似文献

We have proposed a method to separate Rashba and Dresselhaus spin splittings in semiconductor quantum wells by using the intrinsic Hall effect. It is shown that the interference between Rashba and Dresselhaus terms can deflect the electrons in opposite transverse directions with a change of sign in the macroscopic Hall current, thus providing an alternative way to determine the different contributions to the spin--orbit coupling.  相似文献

The spin-dependent electron transport is numerically studied in a nonmagnetic nanostructure in the presence of both Dresselhaus and Rashba spin-orbit interactions. It is shown that the large spin polarization can be achieved in such a structure mainly due to the Rashba spin-orbit term induced splitting of the resonant level. It is also shown that the spin polarization strongly depends on the well width and the thickness of the middle barrier as well as the height of the middle barrier.  相似文献
